had a 69 firebird conv with a junkyard 350 put in it . . . traded for a 75 gran torino sport - put a 351C 4bbl in it and painted a red starsky stripe over the stock black . . was an automatic so it never really got abused. your 68 is bad - but save it anyway.
Why are you bending the conv. top by sitting on it. I would have fired the young person for bouncing up and down on it, Why would you want to put the top down now, Wait to get to the shop put WD40 on it, Maybe you can use a sledge hammer on the next car.. Respect the collector car !!!!!!!!!!
LOL did you even watch the whole video? The rust was very extreme, however the top was just fine and worked perfectly when we got it back. Fire him? You think we get paid for doing this? LOL. Unfortunately in our state you can't drive (haul) a car down the interstate with pieces of convertible top blowing at other peoples cars. Don't you think buying the car and safely extracting it from 20+ years sitting in water and mud IS respecting it by saving it? Thanks for your input though and thanks for watching.
Fireturd is right! The owner and the car both died hopefully you can resurrect it from death believe it or not there is enough of the original body left to make it a worth while project you are goingto have to spend a small fortune with JC Whitney to revive her.
Get two sub frame extensions welded in first to stabilize the chassis and then complete trunk and floor sheet metal might save this. Expensive but a nice project.
Looks exactly like the Firebird that was outback at Mott Collage body shop in Fenton, MI. back in 2009. Had a dead animal on the floorboard and we used to sit on the car during breaks... I wonder if it`s the same car?
That dash is super nice. Worth more then the whole car if you include the trim. Your gonna need a lot rivets, road signs, fiberglass and bondo and she will be good as new.
Again an old man had a car that he hung on to never did anything to it except watch it rot. Now he's dead, and got nothing from it. Please let this be a lesson, sell your shit... JFC let someone else do something with it. And you get SOME money. Maybe not ALL THE MONEY. But it moves on and someone else enjoys it.
Well, sell it or get busy, fix it up, and enjoy it! Get busy living now because waiting for a tomorrow that might never come is wasting not just a car but your life!
If I was you, I would never trash this car. I had a friend who did it, and they sell all the parts for it. Classic industries they will sell you anything with me for that car.
Just about any car can he restored it comes down to money and how much effort you wanted to invest in that project. This specific firebird is on the fense. Good luck going forward.
I have a 69 convertible I replaced the floor pan driver side the hole car was way better shape then this one it will costa lots of money to fix this one
Wrong motor, That's a Olds motor, not a Pontiac. First thing to do is get the VIN number to PHS and find out what it REALLY is! Well worth the money to find out. Might be a real 400 car ! with a 350 hood. A Factory Red & White 400 convert is a pretty rare car.
maybe. At the end of this video it shows the car has sold already but will be restored. The buyer is in our State so we hope to do an update story as he makes progress with it.
i would fix that no problem' great starting piece. it looks complete . put new full floors in it. i think they make all the sheet metal new. I'm building a 55 Belair convertible from a parts car, and a bunch of new and used parts.
@@StreetFreaksGarage thanks! the firebird can be great again. i buy cool old cars that other people don't have the skills to fix. A 55 ragtop, 56 belair coupe and a 57 chevy wagon. now my try five set is complete. im a body man and painter for 50 years. so no labor costs just parts👍i do all the work myself on all of my cars.
Yes it is restorable, looks like a nice start, most of the sheet metal is same as Camaro, easy ro find, way better loking and rides better than Camaro, i have owned sever 67 and 68s.
Save it. It's kind of rare but not the rarest. A VIN check and engine block number check match for a high output engine would make it quite rare at about 500 made. 4 speed manual would be even more rare but I see it's an automatic.
@@TheHsan22 for sure, lol. Never had a tarp withstand 80mph on the interstate though. Didn't care about interior of car but more about debris flying and hitting someone else behind us. Not worth the risk. Thanks for watching 👍
Thumbs down at 19:35 Exodus 20:7 “You shall not take the name of the LORD your God in vain, for the LORD will not hold him guiltless who takes his name in vain.
It was not taken in vain. It was taken as Oh my God I can't believe that (as in speaking to God). Context can be confusing sometimes. However if you are going to quote the bible.... you probably shouldn't watch UA-cam. But thank you for watching!
It was a rubbish car when it was new so why try to save it ? Like most American cars of that era the suspension was too soft, so it hated corners. The brakes are OK if you stick below 50 MPH and the fuel consumtiin is horrific. America. You can keep them.
Yard art Is the best way to describe it.
'Someone else's' Yard Art, not mine. Money pit.
Yes! with a Sasquatch silhouette behind it, lol. Thanks for watching!
The bird wants to fly again.
Fly like an eagle! Thanks for watching!
They're not making them anymore, I don't care, it may need more but in the end you'll be glad that you did.
That's the truth. They are a sharp car. Thanks for watching!

Awesome. Yeah it is pretty rough, but hopefully worth it in the end. Thanks for watching!
Save for sure

That is not pontiac engine. Its an oldsmobile
Thanks for watching!
Yep, alternator is on wrong side, I noticed.
some one put an oldsmobile motor in it
I thought so with the oil filler.
Valve covers dead giveaway olds
I have rocket 350 like that but think Pontiac had same engine just blue

Lol. Yeah we believe its savable for sure. I mean it is a 68 Firebird convertible definitely worth saving. Thanks for watching!
Get two sub frame extensions welded in first to stabilize the chassis and then complete trunk and floor sheet metal might save this. Expensive but a nice project.
Good advice. Thanks for watching!
full floor pans are cheap for this car . price the full floors for a 55 ragtop they cost a lot more.
Save for sure !! how can you even ask the question :-)
Cool project 😂
It sure is.
Only needs everything, had one and a Camero
Yup a small list, lol. Thanks for watching!
Anything can be saved.
In this case it won't be money though.😂
@davidbrown-55 that right brother
Sometimes it isn't about the money... sometimes it's about saving a classic car. Thanks for watching!
It looks like an Olds motor ?

lol it very well could have been! It looked like there was animals living in it, lol. Thanks for watching!
That dash is super nice. Worth more then the whole car if you include the trim. Your gonna need a lot rivets, road signs, fiberglass and bondo and she will be good as new.
LOL our thoughts exactly. Thanks for watching!

We've rescued A LOT of cars that fit that description. Thanks for watching!
Good video. Just subscribed.

Ill get a Butler engine 455, or a modello 455.👌😎🇺🇸
Good thinking! Thanks for watching!
Hard 2 fix and call it a classic ❤
It's still a 68 Fireturd convertible any way you cut it 🤣
Rockers and braces are aluminized, which is why they dont rust...
Notice the grey surface on these parts...
It was mandatory on unibody cars
That was a good move on the design process. Thanks for watching!
Was this a livestream? Video is very glitchy 😕
We noticed in final video. I believe it's the software. We're trying to fix it in the next video. Thanks for watching.

that is a Olds 350 not Pontiac & they did not have GM HEI ignitions back then
Thanks for watching!
I can build that car and make it look new again
No doubt! Thanks for watching!
@StreetFreaksGarage will you be making any new videos on this Firebird
maybe. At the end of this video it shows the car has sold already but will be restored. The buyer is in our State so we hope to do an update story as he makes progress with it.
Those are not being made anymore so I say it is very repairable just will take A LOT of work.
For sure but worth it in the end. Thanks for watching!

😊😊😊😊😊😊🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
Only 20% is left 🎉
Really? 20%? Huh looked like more 🤣
You don't have the privilege to ask to keep or scrap it.. If it's too much for you, pass it on to someone else who knows how to restore it..
Actually I'm afraid I do... it's my car. But if you actually watch the video. It did sell and is being restored. Thanks for watching.
Scrap or save any fire bird worth money in any shape
I like your way of thinking! Thanks for watching!
if it can be saved save it
That’s a Holley spreadbore replacement for the original Quadrajet carb.
I was kinda thinking that. No telling what people put on over all the years. Thanks for watching!
What town was that car in???
I can't remember off hand but it was south of Flint. It wasn't visible from the road. Thanks for watching!

Check to see if its numbers matching, that's a frigging old motor
Oldsmobile, damn auto correct
Thanks for watching!
That could be a 455 olds eng.
It's a Michigan car. I'm from taylor Michigan.
It sure is. Shame it got like this, but it will be saved so that's good. Thanks for watching!
Save.....
how can it be numbers matching being a olds motor! lol
Good question, lol. Thanks for watching!
who cares about that, not me numbers matching means nothing to me, i build all my cars the way i want them with no regrets.

Hi speed freak that's a good buy

I hope you didn't want to use that top the way you probably bent it all up by forcing it like that 😮
nope all new. Thanks for watching!

Better if hard top
A lot of hard work on-site lowering a non existent top lol... just put it on the trailer, throw a tarp over it and drive off.

yeap that is what a old men does just let the car sit for 20 years and let it rot then they want 30 k for a junk of car
