We had a forestry mulcher come through a couple of years ago, but the buckthorn is growing back. Watch as our Ventrac Toughcut tries to beat it back into submission!
Loving the Ventrac more each day. Today had the opportunity to help some neighbor friends with mowing their three horse pastures. 3.5 hrs of mowing bliss - float was engaged this time. 😊
Not bad for your FFT! 😄 The commenter below is correct, there were a few times while operating in the video that you didn't have the drive lever in float. While you're mowing, keep it in float all the time (unless you specifically raise the deck up to hang it over an embankment or hover it above a stump or something unique). That will help the tractor maintain traction best and improve the cut quality in rough areas. Also, don't be afraid to get aggressive with the drive lever. Once you get comfortable with the machine, it's pretty reasonable to use the drive lever like a brake and yank back on it pretty hard when you want to stop immediately. Using the training position like you are is great, especially getting used to the machine.... then once you're ready take it out of that position so it's more comfortable and faster to operate. You're doing great! P.S. - I also use the hand control almost exclusively.... foot pedal only when using the rear hydraulics while moving forward, or when I need to use my spare hand to move a tree branch or something out of the way. -Aaron
Fabulous advice. Definitely in learning mode over here. That vid was probably at 2-3hrs on the machine (with most of that doing snow removal). During snow removal I definitely decided to use the training mode with the drive lever - I was NOT in control 😂. I have about 13hrs on the Ventrac now and feel more comfortable and have the weight transfer dialed in better. I have also learned how to actually remove the ToughCut and reconnect without “fighting it.” Loving this tractor!
Ooooh, the finish mower would be nice! We went with a regular riding John Deere for our lawn, but only because I didn’t want to have to switch out the often used brush cutter with the finish mower (which I would also use frequently).

@@leighd6050 Excellent! It only gets better the more you operate :)
Thanks Roy and Aaron! Please keep, the comments and suggestions coming - in learning mode over here and appreciate any advice!
Just bought the exact same mower with the tuff cut and 72” finish mower. I sure love it.
Me too! Congrats on your new Ventrac.

You need to put the mower deck in the float position.
Absolutely correct. Learning curve and appreciate the comment.
