Hanging the Canoe
We want our canoe easily accessible but out of the way, protected from the elements but not using up prime real estate. I know… let’s hang it!

Clearing Trails with the Ventrac
Переглядів 1,2 тис.Місяць тому
Vinny the Ventrac… what a machine! We’re learning as we go. Thanks to the kind people who gave us feedback after our last video. Here we discuss what we are learning about weight transfer. It sure makes short work of cutting trails! '
Putting Duallys on the Ventrac
Переглядів 207Місяць тому
When we decided what tractor to buy, we knew we wanted one with a low center of gravity that was less likely to roll. We picked the Ventrac because of its stability, and we made it even more stable by installing duallys. Eight wheels, baby!!

Pressure fittings for drip irrigation
The streak is bleed through, u can spray shellac on it and let it dry and then paint again
It’s a spider and they are wonderful
If even one survives, you both win.
I have a Ventrac with a tough cut and it can cut brush like crazy. Looks great
Can I get an update on the pond?? Our neighborhood is having an algae problem. I have managed to get the HOA to purchase an aerator that has now been in for 1 year. Running 24/7 in the summer and I turn it off when the air temps are less than 50°F (as guided by The Pond Boss) I want to have the HOA start on a beneficial bacteria treatment, but lacking proof that it actually helps ponds. Might even look to dye the pond. I know dye is slightly frowned upon since it blocks the light for the base of the food chain. Thanks!
Im growing my first sunflower ever and it looks just like this a month and a half in the ground and it's 4 feet and growing rapidly it's called Sunzilla
Just before your arrival 😊
When did you guys film this?
Sure appeared to be the most difficult day for the dock project and yet this family continued to laugh and have fun.
Whoever was flinging that shovel around on the dock should be more careful. 😮
Wow!
Looking forward to see how this dock is constructed. The attention to detail is impressive.
Wow, that was one big blur!!
Transitions > Audio > Cross Fade 0 dB… otherwise good video!
Wow, that was one abrupt ending!😂
Glad to see you got a second one, I know all of the common troubles having one myself.. I have 70 hours on mine myself. I would suggest checking the roller feed hydraulic mounts, I have found them loosening over time. I would suggest installing a hour meter. I had a loose wheel bearing on mine, just wasn’t adjusted right. I had problems with wing nuts loosening , and getting lost. So I bought better metric hardware and put an assortment metric wrenches clipped to the chain. I also bought a plug assy to hook a trickle charger for longer sitting times or off season. Doing some research I found the unit is made in China and imported to Canada and branded then brought into the US by local distributors. I hate to say, for as many “little adjustment and loosening problems”. I really love my unit and can not see myself without it. I find that when I use it I will forget to sharpen the blades and find myself working harder than I should with it, meaning I work 4 hours running stuff through instead of 3… Glad to see it start right away for you. Talk at you later!
This was peak content. I'm very impressed. My first thought was skid steer - maybe you guys could cut the neighbors out of the equation and add one to the garage!
Yes!!!
Glad to see a happy and fun video with progress!
Loved this video!

Cant wait to drive this! -your nephew
Loving the Ventrac more each day. Today had the opportunity to help some neighbor friends with mowing their three horse pastures. 3.5 hrs of mowing bliss - float was engaged this time. 😊
Just bought the exact same mower with the tuff cut and 72” finish mower. I sure love it.
Me too! Congrats on your new Ventrac.
Thanks Roy and Aaron! Please keep, the comments and suggestions coming - in learning mode over here and appreciate any advice!
Not bad for your FFT! 😄 The commenter below is correct, there were a few times while operating in the video that you didn't have the drive lever in float. While you're mowing, keep it in float all the time (unless you specifically raise the deck up to hang it over an embankment or hover it above a stump or something unique). That will help the tractor maintain traction best and improve the cut quality in rough areas. Also, don't be afraid to get aggressive with the drive lever. Once you get comfortable with the machine, it's pretty reasonable to use the drive lever like a brake and yank back on it pretty hard when you want to stop immediately. Using the training position like you are is great, especially getting used to the machine.... then once you're ready take it out of that position so it's more comfortable and faster to operate. You're doing great! P.S. - I also use the hand control almost exclusively.... foot pedal only when using the rear hydraulics while moving forward, or when I need to use my spare hand to move a tree branch or something out of the way. -Aaron
Fabulous advice. Definitely in learning mode over here. That vid was probably at 2-3hrs on the machine (with most of that doing snow removal). During snow removal I definitely decided to use the training mode with the drive lever - I was NOT in control 😂. I have about 13hrs on the Ventrac now and feel more comfortable and have the weight transfer dialed in better. I have also learned how to actually remove the ToughCut and reconnect without “fighting it.” Loving this tractor!
@@leighd6050 Excellent! It only gets better the more you operate :)
You need to put the mower deck in the float position.
Absolutely correct. Learning curve and appreciate the comment.
Its to bad that your manual didn't cover this, great video, on my chipper it also stresses that the anvil plate be squared off with a file on the end that faces the cutter blade for maximum performance. The proper gap between the cutter blade and the anvil plate not only controls the wood chip size but also greatly aids in the self feeding aspect of the chipper. One suggestion, since you have to remove the hopper shute and battery to get access to the anvil plate bolts you might as well remove the blades and ReSharpen them as this will make it easier for the motor to operate also green branches cut much easier than dried branches. What I do is to buy an extra blade and swap it out when I adjust the gap between the chipper blade and the anvil plate but i only have a single blade on my DR chipper if you have more than one blade you may want to sharpen them as you adjust the anvil plate because of cost.
All that does it make it worse. It'll grow back thicker. You need to pull it out of poison the cut stump.
Great troubleshooting analysis and problem solving. Thanks for this.
This would be great video for marriage therapists to study! :)
If you can't see the mistake from a galloping horse, it does not exist. Plus it'll be on a barn/house and no one will get close enough to see any bleed over. Good job on your design.
Wait, what just happened?!? Did video footage that I recorded actually make it to a SBGF UA-cam production? 🤯🎉
I'm a simple man - I see a new Smiling Butterfly video, I like the new Smiling Butterfly video.
Woah - is this the first video with additional microphones? Sound quality is outstanding.
It’s finally a video we REMEMBERED the microphones 😂 We struggle to remember we actually have them. Thanks for noticing.
The PAUSE was so we did not have one HUGE video file to transfer. Thought my partner was going to catch on to my vibe. 😂
These videos make me double think wanting to purchase a chipper... 🤨
We did! We even got that color, which is called “camo,” but looks more like “brown trees” to me. Love to hear that we have an international audience! If you ever find yourself in the States, hit us up! :)
Wow, whoever is filming during the tree unwrapping sequence should think about going into the film industry. Beautiful shot composition and outstanding framing.
Hi Steve and Leigh, big fan from Germany - did you end up buying the camo canoe? Looks awesome.
Hey now, most of that “gravel noise” was from the 1” of rain/ice that fell in the middle of the first and second 6” snow storms. 😉 But to be honest, there was a bit of gravel tossed around before I got the touch for feathering the controls. 😅 Loving Vinny the Ventrac!
Great to see Joel out of the office and in nature!!!
I know! I know!!! 💚💚
I knew you would!
Looks like the shelves they sell at Costco
Not sure where they came from originally, but we are very happy to have them. 😊
So the video is labeled new blade to “kill” buckthorn but by cutting it, which you did very well, you are not killing it unless you treat it. Correct?
Third time posting was the charm. Thanks for everyone’s patience. 😂
Nice pole shed. Good job son.
Glad to see you doing good, and getting things back to normal!
Yeah! You ‘re back in the game!
Hope all is going better, I know it’s winter, waiting for mor videos!
The heavy flywheels dont add power. They do help smooth out the power, but once you lose the momentum, they are actually more difficult to keep spinning and to bring back to full speed after a hard pull. A heavy flywheel will not bend as easily. You need a robust housing to hold the anvil/bed knife so it can't bend under the pounding as well. I have an old DR with 18hp, but honesty, ive about had my fill of light duty chippers. You can never get too over zealous about what will they will take without destroying themselves.
very smart move to adjust the counter blade , much shorter to the cutting blade give alot better results , just tighten the bolts realy good.....🥰😍
