@markdavis1358: That's not why we that. It's a token of respect for the original song, as well as giving the listener's ear a chance to settle into the groove before you 'branch out'.
Yup - takes a lot to draw attention away from a Max solo ! The camera man did a great job of visually representing what really was a duet rather than a guitar solo.
@5oranger @jipsigal The bass and drums lent so much 2 the 2nd guitar solo. It was smooth when needed be. Then they built it 2 a post modern tribal operatic climax.
I'm 72 and I've seen a lot of live music in my time, including Led Zeppelin at the Fillmore East in '69 on acid (me, maybe them?), Hendrix, Santana, McLaughlin, too many to list, all of them seen back in the day when they were on fire. So, I'm not easily impressed but I'd have no reservations placing Maximillian in the pantheon of great rock guitarists. The Main Squeeze as a band is as tight as they come, if they were around in the 60's, they'd be as famous as the greats of that time. This rendition of Comfortably Numb is unfuckingbelievable!

The first thing everybody thinks about when listening to this song is David Gilmour's profound artistic expression in his solos and if the guitarist covering them will be able to even come close to that level of "feeling", and whether those licks will be honored or just repeated. Max does as good a job at honoring David's work as anyone possibly could. From a sound guy, the mixing was exceptional. From a Pink Floyd junkie, this rendition was special in every way.
Agreed. The mix is outstanding. Max is one of the only guitarists out there who could play this, honor Gilmour, and add his own twist and keep it super tasty and with all the feeling. Just incredible.
@@beatsbydrew8930 As a guitarist I agree with you... both sound and style don't fit the song. Until now I have always found his style an added value while here in my opinion it doesn't fit well.
