I’m now 72 years , when at 8 year old I am so clearly cognisant of my Uncle Jim McKenzie (Inverness)served with a Gurkha Regiment in Burma. His limited expressions of the very nasty conflict clearly clarified my mind from them and the loyalty and braveness.
They were the best , hardest and committed Jungle fighters. God bless them all.
Wish we now had 2 Regiments in Australia 2024. Cheers
Thank you for his service.
I put my uncle in Borneo instead of Burma. It's an age thing...lol. He was with Wingates Chindits. I love the Ghurkas, they're very loyal Britain... ❤
He was also with the Chindits ❤️🏴
My late father-in-Law fought alongside the Gurkhas during WW2. He said VERY little about the fighting, (& his capture), but he said he has never known Soldiers like them for bravery - they were wonderful soldiers.
The Gurkhas are well respected by the Indigenous British, they are impeccable.
Anglos aren't indigenous. The crown is Germanic.
@@brainworm666 I was referring to the population.
@@brainworm666 Wrong. The Anglos are the indigenous people. Germany is barely 200 miles away.
@@lynnecromack4933 you’re quite literally wrong you crazed individual. Celts, Scots, Gaelic, Cornish, Manx. None of these are related to the Anglos. The Anglos are not from here. You are not from here so you should go back to the Germanic lands and take your Royal family with you.
@@lynnecromack4933 We’re full, Anglos need to be deported.
The gurkhas are fantastic soldiers and people a credit to their country
AMEN
and ours
The ghurka's are amazing fighters. My uncle served in Borneo in the second world war with them. They were called Wingates Chindits and my uncle said they were the fiercest and most loyal soldiers he's ever had the honour to fight alongside. GOD BLESS THE GHURKA REGIMENTS. ❤
My Grandpa did too. We love them ❤
Sorry, but that's badly wrong. Some Gurkha regiments and other Indian Army units were part of the Chindits, a brigade force that was half British Army and half Indian Army, commanded by Maj Gen Orde Wingate.
... and it's ''Gurkhas" (or previously "Goorkhas"), never Ghurkas.
@@John-G Spelling police out again. It's not wrong at all. THEY WERE KNOWN AS 'WINGATES CHINDITS". I've listened to lots of stories about them when my uncle was alive. You are correct about there being Indian regiments fighting alongside too. I just assumed older people would know that. My mistake. It seems you like to nit pick.
My comment was not badly wrong as you insinuate. You must have quite a history on knowing the Gurkhas......
@@elsiecook2259 Sorry, but it's simply wrong. The Gurkhas WEREN'T "known as Wingate's Chindits".
That's what they were part of.
That's what they were in.
The other units, British and Indian, weren't "fighting alongside" the Chindits, they were all IN the Chindits.
It may sound the same thing to you, but it's simply badly wrong.
I'm not trying to nit-pick, but it's just plain wrong.
To anyone who's ever been in or knows the military, there's a VAST difference between being "alongside", being "with" and being "in".
Very brave soldiers. We are lucky to have them serve our country.
My father was in the Royal Navy in Burma in WW2 he had the upmost respect for the gurkas he said they was such loyal and brave soldiers they fought to the death i salute all of them of behalf of my father 👏👏👏👏👏👏🏴🏴🏴🇬🇧🏴🏴🏴🇬🇧 its lovely to see them included here at Windsor Castle
These guys were so respected in WW2.. Fierce, clever and loyal. Thank you Ghurkhas.
They still are in my house!
I have a book on the Battle of Cassino which has a photo of Gurkhas charging downhill, silhouetted against the sun and flashing their kukris. Decades after I first read it, that image sticks in my mind. All I can say is, if that's what you're up against, you're only getting out of it dead or with soiled pants.
@douglassun8456 I bet that picture is something to see. I'm imagining it in my head now. Wow. They just look scary to me. Anytime I watch a movie where they are portrayed I start getting nervous cuz I know shits about to go down!
Gurkha’s are so respected, thank you.🙏🏻
I pity any fool who decides to attack it then. Gurkhas are the absolute creme de la creme. I hope they finally got paid their pensions etc properly. I visited it and loved touring it .
They've been paid the same pensions and on the same TACOS as Brits since 2007. As a result, since there's nothing in it for Nepal anymore and Britain broke the 1949 tri-partite agreement unilaterally, Nepal has unsurprisingly said that it will end Gurkha recruiting, although it hasn't yet said when.
What an absolute incredible spectacle, so good to see. If only our newer "overseas one way visitors" were as loyal and honourable as these fine gentlemen!
No chance
Bravest of the brave, most generous of the generous. Never had country more faithful friends than you.
Sir Ralph Lilley Turner MC.
Such honour to have them in our country. God bless them.
Sir ralph, you have the MC, you are pretty brave too !
Thank you dear Ghurkas. Many families of people who have served with you are delighted you got the benefits you so rightly deserved for all you have done, and continue to do fir our country. Thank you fir your service ❤
Many who actually knew what they were talking about were horrified as it meant there was nothing in it for Nepal any more, so why would Nepal be happy to lose Gurkha pay and pensions that were previously going back to Nepal?
Nepal has already said it will end Gurkha recruiting as a result, and that shouldn't have surprised anyone.
@@John-G I didn't know this. How upsetting
I hope they are alowed to bring their wives / children after a certain amount of time...
@@John-Goh gosh...didn't know
@@daphnethurlow5388 They are, under the same immigration / visa rules as anyone else - one of the many reasons why recruiting Gurkhas is no longer beneficial to Nepal and their government have said they will end recruitment of Gurkhas.
The Gurkhas have done so much for this country and been so fiercely loyal. I think we should be doing more for the people of Nepal and the poverty they live in to repay them for giving us their sons for our defence.
Ma samahat chu, thulo samman Gurkha haru ko laggi 👍🇳🇵🥰🇬🇧
Because of some in Derby I visited Nepal last year. And can now boast to have stayed with a retired Gurkha engineer in his home in Kathmandu and was well looked after by his wife’s family. I had an amazing and eye opening time, i visited the British army camp in Pokhara and have seen the mountain they go up as part of the tests.
Truly amazing country, they did love it when I was speaking Nepali telling them their food was tastier than UK food 😂😂😂
I was received so well, they were thanking me for coming and learning about Nepal! Of course i thanked them back for beating the British and joining our forces then to teach us white people about their country and accept me into a minority.
I’ll be going to east Nepal next time 😊
I totally agree with you we owe them for the ones that lost their life's fighting for our country
Nepal thinks so too, which is why they have said that since the UK has unilaterally broken the 1949 tri-partite agreement, so as Gurkhas are no longer sending their pay and pensions back to Nepal they're going to stop Gurkha recruiting, although they haven't yet said when.
Yes I agree
@@daphnethurlow5388 Then why are you supporting Britain's unilateral change to the 1949 treaty on recruiting Gurkhas which means that Nepal no longer benefits from allowing Britain to recruit Gurkhas, as none of their pay or pension is returned to Nepal anymore?
That was smashing. Thank you! How smart and vigorous are the Gurkhas. My father admired and respected them so much having fought alongside them in WW2. It's great to have them here - especially at Windsor. Their music is lovely too!
I've heard so much about the courage and the bravery of the King's Gurkhas. They are also recruited by the Singapore government, who values them now and from their service to the British in Singapore. They are respected, yet feared by the citizens. They are dedicated to those they serve.
That's where my grandfather was with them
We the British need these amazing fearless Soldiers, maybe more than we did in the battle against any enemy that have tried to kill or enslave us. Our silent cunning enemies have infiltrated every City, Town and village in Great Britain, and the Powers to be have allowed this to happen. I hope this is a sign, that one of the most feared Soldiers in the World have moved into this Fortress, and, have orders to be on hand, when the Enemies are more than ready to strike the British. Far fetched you maybe think, but , as that wise man back in the 60,s ENOCH POWELL warned, if our Border Gates are left open many years to come, these vengeful Nations will try and takeover this Beloved Country, and, will never be the same again. Well that time is clearly near, and our Government are letting it happen, in fact are allowing any Patriot of Great Britain be arrested for quietly and, Peacefully waving the Flag of this once Proud Country !.
@@phyllisbennett9950 Enoch Powell wasn't evil. He understood their culture

The Gurkhas are brilliant. My dad spoke highly of them

Great respect to the Gurkhas!
Gurkhas your worst nightmare in battle. God bless them. 🇬🇧🙏
You never fail to show us the best of everything that happens! It's the first time I knew that Gurkhas also were included - what a treat! Such brave soldiers! THANKYOU once again! 🇳🇿
God bless our very special Gurkhas, who are both respected and respectful. Our gratitude for their loyal service to the British army for 200 years……..”never has a country had more faithful friends”
Gurkhas haven't been in the British Army for 200 years - up until 1949 they were part of the British Indian Army.
So grateful to have them as part of our armed forces,,
The gurkas are brilliant soldiers a credit and asset to our country
Greatly Respected Soldiers , A Blessing ❤
Hello to Windsor, London and to "the World" from Upper-Austria! Very special video! Beautyful ceremony! Have not seen Gurkhas before in such a "show"! Great performance and elegant appearing of officers! Thanks very much! Love and proud to be a member on this channel!
Immaculate drill!
"Any man who says he is not afraid in battle is either a liar, or a Gurkha."
I am proud to own a Ghurka's khukri, that was given to my grandfather after he served with them in Burma.
The quote from former Indian Army Chief of Staff Field Marshal Sam Manekshaw is actually ""If a man says he is not afraid of dying, he is either lying or he is a Gurkha." which is rather different.
I suggest you read Birdie Smith's "Even the Brave Falter" if you want some insight, or Allinson's diaries.
FWIW, Anyone who says he is not afraid in battle is a liability and a danger to everyone around them.
the castle is well guarded !
The Kings own Gurkhas band playing "Game of Thrones" theme. Loved it, bravo!
Love Windsor castle, St George's chapel was amazing. So much history everywhere
The Gurkhas may not be big in stature but they are ferocious in battle and loyal til the end! I would have been proud to serve with them! Ultimate warriors!
The Gurkhas are amazing. My dad served along side the Gurkhas in Burma against the Japanese my dad said they were the most loyal, brave, wonderful men & was very proud to have served with them.
Thank you
No need for commentary
Magnificent simply magnificent. Both regiments and the castle. Thank you for filming something I certainly wouldn't be able to get to and see.
Tremendous respect to the Gurkas, very smart in everyway, and know they would protect the castle etc and also friends and families. May our lord protect and guide them in their responsibility they have been handed over to for a while.
They're 99%+ Hindu.
They deserve all the credit they get, wonderful soldiers 😊
The music by the Gurkhas was extremely moving and very dramatic, superbly performed. Makes me so proud of all of our armed forces for the dedication of their services. Thank you❤❤❤
Great video, thanks so much! Lovely to see Windsor made me miss the Queen RiP💜
I have highest respect for the courageous and bravery of the Gurkhas.
Thanks again ! It is a great tour.
Beautiful.
Brilliant, thankyou
What a brilliant video the Gurkhas are brilliant fighting force one of my late uncles fought along side Gurkhas and always said how good they where and that they where feared by the Japanese
My grandfather fought in the Korean war and he fought alongside many soldiers from different countries: Americans, Australians and the south Koreans however he always said that gurkhas are something else and he always spoke about them with the up most respect.
I stumbled on your channel earlier today and you have gained a new sub keep up the content! 🎉🎉🫡
What a discipline, woow
At least one army that never goes woke. Respect to the GURKHAS
"one army" - what army is that?
The Brigade of Gurkhas are under the same TACOS as the rest of the British Army - the only difference is that Nepal only allows men to be recruited, not women, but when all roles were opened to women the Brigade of Gurkhas was specifically included.
Would like to any of these ignorant toursits cross the line with these guys, Ghurkas , do not mess with ,
U think our guys are strict,
Huge respect for them, watched a tv show not long back, training of these guys, and the % is very , very low, who gets chosen
The pride they all must be feeling right now, guarding one of our most important, castles/home
Can see the pride in each one of them, although it has happened before, it is rare, so these soldiers, this will be their first time, 👏👏
The Brave, the Bravest of Men.
THE KINGS GHURKA GUARDS.......
Yes, I also miss The Queen very much. Sadly missed.🕊️✝️🇬🇧
The Ghurkas are very slick and super well trained..and a Silver band like our Marine Band...oh and Uniform is okay for them..they could change if they wanted to. They fight like ten men each..so who cares about uniform. Taking over Guard at Windsor which they have done often in the past, which even Kiwi Soldiers did in 1965 Or 1966..
Absolutely beautiful video , it’s something interesting
I believe that during the Falklands war the poor Argentinian conscripts cried when they heard the Gurkhas were being deployed to fight there
A myth.
Really enjoyed this. Wonderful as always. Thank you for posting. ❤💂♀️
I have 2 bracelets made by the Gurkhas whilst living in Hong Kong. My husband was in the 16/5th Queens Royal Lancers. How brave are these men, and how smart! No half measures with them! The most fierce force serving with our British soldiers! We owe you a debt of gratitude. Ma y thanks for your loyal service! X x x
The dear Queen would always at investures alway have behind her a couple of GURKA guards. A Celeb! Said when he was being present with his medal he had a small trip up ,when he look up the GURKA behind the Queen had already taken a step forward and had his hand on his Kukri knife, he said his blood ran cold. 👍.
They weren't "GURKA guards". They're actually 'Queen's Gurkha Orderly Officers', now 'King's Gurkha Orderly Officers' - two a year, on a 12 month post.
Outstanding video.
Thank you for sharing. I reside in South Carolina, USA. I have never had the pleasure to visit so your videos are the next best thing. Thank you. Blessings to ALL.✌️♥️☀️
Tough, loyal and great allies of Grt Britain, we thank you!
Nepal is Maoist - it isn't Britain's ally.
The respect for these very brave men is deserved a thousand
times over everyone loves them so proud of them

Check out Gurkha selection in Nepal . Hard ,very hard .
Thankyou for filming and sharing. Im feeling so very Proud. My late father spoke highly of The Gurkhas. My late husband had a Gurkha knife on which was engraved the soldiers history.
Yes I too wish we had Gurkha regiments in Australia.
Why?

Brilliant soldiers and we are so lucky to have them guard us if need be .big thank you from me 💖
They're one hope in life to setve in the army they live for service and honour
They are fierce and this is great to see and not before time
Why were the officers marching back and forth, and turning at the wall ? What does that mean ? Very sharp looking Gerka soldiers. 👍
It's called 'Pacing the minutes' & it's an old tradition but no one is quite sure why it started.
Most likely it's from when Officers on the battlefield were walking along troop formations checking everything was correct. It may have also helped morale as the men could see their Officers in front of them & felt reassured.
Pacing the minutes means the officers can move so they're less likely to faint - it started as a way of showing they were sober.
Gurkhas and grenadier guards 💂🇬🇧
I very much enjoyed this! I’ve never been there, so the views of the grounds was spectacular. Thank you so much
Best of the Best.
I met some of them in the then British HongKong back in the 60's and learned about their history. Well done Gurkhas !! 🇬🇧
Makes me proud that where ever you we love you.
I certainly enjoyed that, I am pretty new to England and am enjoying what I see, so thank you for this video and sharing it.

I remember being sent to Netheravon on a medium Vickers course. On thar course where three Gurha corporals. Each had over Severn years service, and campaign medals. Here I was with year and a bit of service, with little knowledge, and even less skill. We had of number of night exercises, many of the course asked to demonstrate their skill. We all cane va k with out shoe races cut. God bless them and their families. Patrick, Northampton
The Vickers went out in 1968!

Gosh I bet there was some serious boot polishing and drill practice in the old Guard before this. You wouldn't want to be shown up against that lot.
Great soldiers to have on your side.
Well done Joanna Lumley for what you have achieved by these loyal soldiers who have served the Crown since 1857........equal pay, residency rights etc.....I wish our Australian Government would recruit a Brigade of Gurkhas.
