I have fond memories of playing this with my sister as a kid. We got to near the ending and were scared of the bad guy so we waited til my dad got home from work and made him play the ending for us.
omg that's adorable >_< , also thank you kindly for not spoiling who the bad guy was.. I didn't see it coming! that last scene was surprisingly scary lol
“We all feel spiritually drawn to a paycheck” is the most underrated line of the whole video, I say having watched half of the video 😂 but seriously, that line made me cackle Gab
I just looked up the actress who voiced Nancy, she was in some awesome games I mean she also did a lot of random ones but she was in .//hack, evil dead hail to the king, the last of us, she played Luke in professor Layton, and narrated medieval!
@@cssruth Lani Minella! The UA-camr/Streamer Lucahjin and her watcher stan her (myself included.) It all started when she played the America's Next Top Model Wii game and Lani voiced the main character. After that she played Nancy Drew and the rest was history. Still a shame that Lani doesn't voice Nancy anymore.
I don't know why, but I love that when we start these games we usually just spend a few minutes reading random facts about something like horses or ancient Mayans. Your channel is fun, chill, and educational 👍
Woke up at 6:30 AM for this stream and I have no regrets! I got this game as a present for my 10th birthday. :') The tragic backstory kinda flew over my head a bit when I was young but now I cry every time I read Meryl's journal and the letters from Dirk.
You are so right about the cake! I made it with my friends who played ND with me and we were not impressed. I remade the recipe and baked it for her birthday a few years later and she loved it. This game is really great and the backstory is so heartfelt.
Everytime Gab says "that's for later" in Nancy Drew or hogs all I can think of is Steve for blues clues saying "let's put that in the notebook for later" and it kills me everytime 😂😂
Damn Nancy literally went in vacation and solved an almost century old treasure hunt and romance story in three days while her friends where stuck on layaway. 😂 Loved this story
I’m so impressed that you didn’t suffer Shorty’s wrath during the vegetable picking. I still get flashbacks of failing that part and getting kicked off the ranch 😭
I know that course is impossibly small.... but the World Record time on a standard barrel course is 13.46 seconds. Asking for under 10 is ... unlikely in that heat and with those horses!
I think it’s so funny that she takes the time to actually read the checklists. When I play I just click on all of them AND THEN read the ones left unchecked 😂
One of my favorite Nancy games!!! The voice acting for the historical characters always added so much to my enjoyment and Meryl’s last diary entry never fails to make me tear up. This also means only one more game to go before my absolute favorite ND game!!!
Ah sorry for the confusion, my favorite is last train to blue moon canyon since I know she already did blackmoor so the only one left in between is secret of the old clock :)
As a young kid I hated talking on the phone, even in video games. So, I never called Charleena and never figured out how to open the chest. It’s so fun watching the play through of this game and finally finding out what happened!
At 1:31:12 when Gab says “if no one ever found the letter, then how does the other party know about the treasure?” is seriously the best story-buster I’ve ever heard. Big brain!
Dave's story implies Francis found out some other way, so it's possible other people found out the same way she did. Or even that it's a kind of folklore for his family and they could tell people. Edit: and Charleena references a rumor about the treasure hunt around 1:33:00 which basically confirms word got out some other way.
People knew he had stolen gold. And whenever someone steals a lot of stuff, there's always people hoping the thief didn't just all spend it on, uh, pleasures and expensive knick-knacks but hid it somewhere.
Seeing Gab learn about horses made me smile as a horse owner. I own a horse whom I call my "large dalmatian" because he's a spotted horse. His tail is multi-color cause he has light brown/blondish mixed with dark brown. He's a big sweet boy and is more so just a companion than anything.
Also own chickens and can confirm- they will bite you. Most of our hens are used to us so they may just fuss a little when we're retrieving the eggs. However one hen will bite down pinching your skin in her beak and twist. It really fucking hurts and she will break the skin so we usually just get her eggs when she's not there. Then we have my baby girl who I raised who ACTS like she's gonna bite you but doesn't. She just tries to intimidate which works on people who don't know she's really a sweet fluffy baby. A lot of people don't realize chickens do have individual personalities, some more than others. They also tend to mimic whatever creatures their surrounded by. I used to have a rooster who was in love with me and would follow me everywhere I went. He even would do the little guiding chicken dance around me and act like I was his hen lmao
Fun fact: this game is one of the few games based on an actual Nancy Drew book by the same name! From what I remember, most of the characters are the same… but the plot of Frances and Dirk was original to the game. Ironically, playing the games was what made me start reading the book series lol
There’s an old thing in medicine that if a farmer comes into the ER then you need every expert and doctor bc they only come in when they should already be dead lmao
I'm sure someone's mentioned it but Secret of the Old Clock is actually the first Nancy Drew book. I get excited when I see things from Nancy Drew based on the books shame it doesn't happen often.
@@seasyrenn Well if you haven't like I said in the original comment Secret of the Old Clock would be a good starting point also because it's the first Nancy book but one of my favourites is Moss Covered Mansion, Hidden Staircase is also good and that's just the original series. At one point I also had a boxset of I think the first 8 books of the Girl Detective series
I collect the older Nany Drew books yellow cover and vanilla with her portrait on the spine. I started my collection after my mom died, she had some as payment for babysitting as a kid and kept them all that time, and so I'm determined to finish it for her. The next game is based on her first ever mystery in the book series! I'm so excited to see you play it!
I can't tell you how happy it makes me whenever I see you have been playing Nancy drew games! I grew up playing Nancy drew and watching you play them for the first time brings me so much joy 😊 thank you!!
As someone with a friend with horses and mini horses, alot of this information was very factual. She has an appaloosa mini and on one side of her core it looks like someone took a sharpie to her white spot with a black marker. its really cute!
I think in the books, Nancy hadn't met Ned yet, which could be why her response to Dave's question was noncommittal. Because in the books she didn't have a boyfriend, but according to the games she does.
Ahh, that's so good to know! I never realized or really cared because I always wished Nancy would flirt with Dave 😂 I still thought it was adorable how Gab immediately went on the Ned defense.
I just finished binging all of your Nancy Drew videos and seeing this notif made me so happy!! I love it!! (Please play Secret of the Old Clock and/or Last Train to Blue Moon Canyon soon! Those are two of my faves!)
Last train was my very first Nancy drew game as a kid I actually never finished because my little kid brain could not solve much lol but once gab started this series I’ve been so excited to see her play that one and now we’re so close! Cant wait
1:34:09-1:35:50 I was half asleep listening to this and the two guys sounded exactly like 2 of my coworkers and I woke up really confused, lol. These play through are so relaxing and wholesome though.
It's makes me so unbelievably happy that Gab is playing through the Nancy Drew games, literally my entire childhood!! I love these games so much, thanks Gab❤️
I grew up with the Nancy Drew games, and it's so interesting to see them through the eyes of someone who's never played them before! I love seeing you get so excited over a series that means so much to me! This is the 4th ND game I've watched you go through so far, and you are absolutely crushing it! Thank you for playing these games, and I hope you have as much fun with the rest of the series as I have!
It's always a good day when Gab posts an hours-long ND playthrough!!! I always like having long playthrough videos on because it helps me get my mind off things, and Gab always has so much fun, it's contagious. Thank you Gab for all the laughs and the nostalgia for those of us who have played ND as kids!!
3:26:01 Gab's editing, much like her humor, is often subtle and if you're not paying attention it might slide right by you, but it's so, so good. Also the moment right before this with the white chicken actually kinda jumpscared me because of the editing so thanks for that, editor 😂
Just.. for the record... 90% of ranchers facing a rattlesnake... would know exactly how to deal with it and would NOT get bit in the process. My family isn't even "actual ranchers" and we all know how to deal with rattlesnakes and have never even had a "close call." >_>; but if the ranchers in this are *city slicker* ranchers who think they can just ranch by buying the land, animals, and reading some books about it, then it all totally makes sense.
You mention how you learn so much from Nancy Drew - the books have always made a point of teaching stuff. I've read the books all my life, and still find myself doing odd little things like turning my feet sideways for traction when walking downhill, and thinking "I learned this from Nancy Drew..." :)
This is the one I was waiting for!! I played it as a teenager and actually finished it by myself. All the other games I played when I was younger and I had to make my dad play with me because they were scary. This was the first time watching Gab play when I knew who did it from the beginning! I always love watching Gab play a cozy mystery ♥️
This!! This Nancy Drew game right here!! This was the one I played all the time as a kid but never finished bcuz I'd get stuck on the same puzzle!! I'm getting sooooooo much nostalgia from watching your ND playthroughs!! I love them!
I never played these as a kid so it's fun to watch you play and try to figure out who's behind everything. I've noticed that it's seems to be the one who has the least going on. Like in this one, Tex had the stuff with his sister and then Mary, who herself had the land deal, and Dave admitted to looking for the treasure because of family ties and was helping you out, leaving Shorty as the off man out. Curious to see if that pattern continues.
so the reason why Nancy gives the option of says "sort of" about having a boyfriend, is because this game is based off the book. and in the book Nancy wasn't really officially with Ned yet :-)
I am losing my mind by how much I love this!!!! Played this game as a kid (was a horse girl lmao) and got stuck when they wanted me to make a fire. So excited to watch the story as an adult :)
You've mentioned a few times how much you learn while playing these games, and I have to say, if you're ever looking for some light reading try the Nancy Drew books!! I read them so much as a child and they truly taught me a lot, especially how to pay attention to context clues! I give Nancy credit for much of my cleverness 😅
The horse info is weirdly good. Some of it outdated and a little biased but like weirdly accurate. Some horse specific games aren't this accurate. I don't know how they expect random people to process that information when given it all at once
This is the first Nancy Drew game I ever played as a kid and I have such fond memories of it. So happy to see you playing it! It's very nostalgic for me :)
I love that this game takes place in a state I was raised in so it was one of my favroite games. I never listened to the radio stuff when i played this so never realized the shout out to Apache Junction where I lived the first 5 years of my life.
I used to play this as a kid and completely forgot about it’s existence! I can’t remember ever actually finishing it so I can’t wait to binge, thanks for this!
I was a member of the paint horse association for many years. I had a chestnut tobiano named Dakota. He had a marking on his butt that looked exactly like Central and South America. This was always my favorite nancy drew gane simply because of the horses.
The pacing is one of the best imo. I know a lot of people get irritated with the “constantly doing the same task” puzzles (ie picking veggies and eggs) but I prefer this to time sensitive ones like in icicle creek
As a kid, this book specifically was a huge fixation of mine. I'm super excited on two fronts that 1, Gabs is playing it and 2, that it's even a game to begin with! Used to listen to it on cassette tape checked out from the library on long car rides, some of my fondest memories
my favourite series of yours!! I’ve never played the nancy drew games myself but I love reading through the nostalgic comments of people who have. lovely to see ya gab
This was the very first Nancy Drew game I ever played! My mom bought me the "Double Dare" with this and Curse of Blackmoor Manor :) I got stuck on the first day for a long time though, because I didn't realize you could open the top part of the chest in the living room! Can't wait to watch you play!
In case anyone else wanted to try this game after watching Gab, I have a helpful hint for the magnet puzzle. If you just can't get it with the bars in the way, you can back out of the puzzle and go back in a few times in a row (I think 5) and the bars that block your view of the paths will disappear.
this was my first nancy drew game!! the little horse girl in me was drawn to the horse on the packaging and the rest is history. I’ve played all the ND games but this one will always be my favorite ❤️
LMAO was wondering when we'd see another Nancy drew game here!~ love it!! Can't wait for more!!! Her interactive should add you into one of their games as a suspect for a Nancy drew case 🤣
Mary Yazzie is an indigenous character and the land she's trying to purchase from the Rawleys originally belonged to her people before it was stolen by invading settlers. That's what "spiritually drawn" is probably trying to imply and I wish they've been more forward and clear about it. The book this is based on is sooo racist so an attempt was made to make the game less so, but alas...
This is one of my favorite Nancy drew games. I was watching you play a different one when I remember this one,and starting praying that you had it on your playlist .I'm so soooo happy rn 😭
"Eldridge? Eldridge horror?" Ironically I found a small branch on my family tree with a however many great grandmas past named Palthiah Elderkin and I just sat here for a moment like What in the horror name is that??? and her dad, grandfather and great grandfather all have the same name but 1st, 2nd, and 3rd. I can't find Spouses. Just them and then after the great grandfather it's just a dead end. There's no anything after him. lmao
As someone who worked on a farm for years, that horse book was right on. We has no horses but one large donkey that was fed and treated medically as a horse. We let her graze in the summers, and she always had hay in the winters, with feedings of mixed grains twice a day. In winter, we NEVER animals cold water if we could help it. It was always warm, and BOY they loved it! I miss our farm. 😞
Ugh, the nostalgia of this game! This was one of the few games that got away from me (in that I started it, but could never get past a certain point, and then didn’t get the chance to revisit it). Might have to revisit the game myself soon.
Shadow Ranch was my fave of the ND games when I was young (I actually loved doing the chores, I always enjoyed a good tragic romance, and I thought Dave was dreamy af) but that magnet puzzle. Oh my god. The memories and frustration immediately came back in waves. It feels like it would if you actually got a weak ass refrigerator magnet and tried to navigate metal with that lmao
I’m almost 2hrs in to this play through (loving it as per usual! ☺️) and I’ve just noticed hanging on the wall above the stove there’s a red herring!!! 🤨 Anyone else notice??
I've been a horse rider for 23 years and when I was old enough to takd my tack apart, clean it, and put it back together, I was let loose to do it by myself. British bridles have a few more parts to them than American bridles though. 😆
Yes! It's always a good day when a new Nancy Drew gets uploaded. And you're getting super close to one of my favorite ones, Last Train to Blue Moon Canyon. So excited! You're the best!
OMG I havent even watched the video yet, had to comment immediately! THIS IS MY CHILDHOOD!!!! my mom used to play these with me all the time when I was a kid!!!! they were my absolute favorite! You just gave me so many feels! I clicked SO FAST on this video.
Yay! So excited to see you play another Nancy drew game especially shadow ranch! Thanks Gab 😊 also I’m so impressed that you got the newspaper for the campfire so quickly cause as a child I was stuck on that step for forever lol
Proud to say this is the first time I’ve been absolutely certain of who the culprit was from early on! Look at me, picking up the formula like 8 games in lol But yeah like, everyone had their own secrets pretty early on, except Shorty. Tex even got a second secret to make him look suspicious. But that already ruled them out, because EVERYONE in Nancy Drew has something to hide, and the last person that that’s revealed for is the culprit. Also, come on. Just look at Shorty. He’s clearly evil. Also also, with Nancy’s nothing answer to if she has a boyfriend and her ACTUALLY describing someone besides Ned as cute… methinks she and Ned may have been having relationship troubles this game 👀
Imagine how fun it would be to be nancy’s friend Like, if bess and george’s plane didnt get stalled then not only would they get their ranch vacation, but theyd also get to see a bunch of western relics first-hand by following her around
Also fun fact, Horses can't burp or vomit! thats why colicking is so dangerous to them, the walking around helps try and get them to fart. cause boyyyyy they can fart!
The movie Spirit is one of my favorites, I used to watch it all the time when I was younger on VHS. I highly recommend watching since you said you haven't watched it. PS- I love your content and your my favorite youtuber. I recently got some merch and I'm in love with it!
never clicked so fast, no gun-slinger in the wild west could stop me

I got sick yesterday and got to watch this 21 minutes when it was posted. This is making me feel better
HOLY SHIT. I literally gasped out loud when I saw this in my subscription box!!! I LIVE for your Nancy playthroughs!! They're just so darn fun
Wow, this is unlocking some strong nostalgia! Thanks for playing and posting
The cute little “heh ~ hi!” gab did at 26:15 was adorable!!
43:28 I live in east Texas and my grandmother has those exact copper wall decorations above the stove
This was one of my favorites as a kid, I’m so excited to watch it! Absolutely love these Nancy play throughs :3
This is the first Nancy Drew game I ever played as a kid and I have such fond memories of it. So happy to see you playing it! It's very nostalgic for me :)
Gab you always drop these on the BEST possible days! It’s gross and stormy outside and I have popcorn and I’m ready to watch you solve this! 🧐🍿
I love just listening to Gabs palythroughs of Nancy Drew when doing class work or just coloring, I just find it relaxing while working on stuff
I played this game over 10 years ago, it was so cool! Definitely one the best games of the series!!!
The pacing is one of the best imo. I know a lot of people get irritated with the “constantly doing the same task” puzzles (ie picking veggies and eggs) but I prefer this to time sensitive ones like in icicle creek
"Too dangerous", Tex? You ever been in a big city? Now THAT'S dangerous!
As a kid, this book specifically was a huge fixation of mine. I'm super excited on two fronts that 1, Gabs is playing it and 2, that it's even a game to begin with! Used to listen to it on cassette tape checked out from the library on long car rides, some of my fondest memories
Would you ever go back and reread shadow ranch?
They even have the right area code for phone numbers in this area and the names of real streets on the radio commercials. Pretty cool!
Tip! If you hit the web and then the dictionary on the phone in an area with no service you can make calls! It helps a lot and saves you the time!
I was so excited to see another Nancy Drew posted! I love to see Gab play The White Wolf of Icicle Creak.
my favourite series of yours!!
I am laughing way too hard at "You're just opening that?!?"
The absolute swell of joy I felt seeing this video in my feed!! Im so glad she's still playing these games, they were a huge part of my childhood :')
I knew it was shorty lol! I called it from the beginning! He was too nice. Loved the play through!
This is one of my favorite Nancy drew games. I was watching you play a different one when I remember this one,and starting praying that you had it on your playlist .I'm so soooo happy rn 😭
I grew up playing these games. They’re amazing and so nostalgic for me!! It was a family tradition to play these for hours on end!
There's no anything after him. lmao
“You can get more eggs than that”
*gets one more egg*
As someone who worked on a farm for years, that horse book was right on. We has no horses but one large donkey that was fed and treated medically as a horse. We let her graze in the summers, and she always had hay in the winters, with feedings of mixed grains twice a day. In winter, we NEVER animals cold water if we could help it. It was always warm, and BOY they loved it! I miss our farm. 😞
"Are you the milk?" I don't know why that sounded so funny to me. XD
watched the trailer for Jordan Peele's NOPE & then this got recommended 😂
Hell yeah Gabs
Ugh, the nostalgia of this game! This was one of the few games that got away from me (in that I started it, but could never get past a certain point, and then didn’t get the chance to revisit it). Might have to revisit the game myself soon.
This made my day! Definitely one of my favorite games! So glad to see people still enjoying the games that got me into gaming!
Your Nancy Drew playthroughs have been getting me through the winter blues!!! I'm so excited!!!
"Ah yes; we all feel spiritually-drawn to a paycheck." oml I cackled. Now THAT is a quote.
I’m almost 2hrs in to this play through (loving it as per usual! ☺️) and I’ve just noticed hanging on the wall above the stove there’s a red herring!!! 🤨
Anyone else notice??
@Lorne's Sister's Munkled Leg (Dna) when you talk to shorty it’s on the left side above the kettle, hanging on the wall
Look at me, picking up the formula like 8 games in lol
But yeah like, everyone had their own secrets pretty early on, except Shorty.
Imagine how fun it would be to be nancy’s friend
Like, if bess and george’s plane didnt get stalled then not only would they get their ranch vacation, but theyd also get to see a bunch of western relics first-hand by following her around
The subtle edits were amazing, Tex's "nope" lol
Also fun fact, Horses can't burp or vomit! thats why colicking is so dangerous to them, the walking around helps try and get them to fart. cause boyyyyy they can fart!
The movie Spirit is one of my favorites, I used to watch it all the time when I was younger on VHS. I highly recommend watching since you said you haven't watched it.
PS- I love your content and your my favorite youtuber. I recently got some merch and I'm in love with it!
