Dat is raar want als de zip goed is overgezet zou dit moeten werken, of iig met een melding komen waarom iets niet werkt. Is er voldoende ruimte op de harde schijf ? Probeer de backup eens opnieuw te maken, Copier hem dan op nieuwe computer naar de desktop (of documenten folder) en probeer hem van daar te importeren. Dit zodat hij al op de HD staat en niet dat je van usb stick probeert terug te zetten.

Niet op desktop want als je hem later weg gooit is alles weg. Bij mij staat hij hier: /Users/YourName/Library/Pioneer/rekordbox/ Als je je Library map niet ziet, zet dan het tonen van verborgen mappen aan door in Finder op Command+Shift+. Om deze te tonen/verbergen Geef hem een naam als 'imported rekordbox.xml' oid zodat later nog duidelijk is waar hij vandaan kwam ;)
De juiste bestanden vinden en vervangen is lastig. Vanavond Rb5 op nieuwe laptop geïnstalleerd en daarna het Export-bestand (zip) van de oude laptop geïmporteerd. Dat ging wel goed, behoudens dat de muziekbestanden niet op de juiste locatie stonden (die staan nu op Dropbox). Hierna weer een export van de bibliotheek gemaakt in Rb5 op nieuwe laptop en deze geïmporteerd in Rb6 op nieuwe laptop. Maar helaas weer dezelfde foutmelding...:(
@user-eo9kz2nv8v en als het in rb5 is gelukt qua backup, kun je die dan updaten naar 6 en vervolgens met de nieuwe auto relocate functie je tracks linkt? Geen idee waarom het niet in 1 keer gaat maar probeer het in 2 stappen dan.
Thank you for this! I am just about to start transferring to a new laptop. I have part of my collection stored on the laptop internal hard drive and part on an external hard drive. Is my first step to copy the music files from the old laptop to my new laptop? Then when i restore missing tracks point rekorbox to the file location on my new laptop? For the external drive, will it just pick that up automatically as the route to the files will be the same as it is now? Thanks 🙏
Yes that is the correct order to follow. Copy all files to new system and use the auto relocate te relink the files. If you keep your files on external drive you might want to add multiple.locstions to the Missing File Manager. I would recommend putting all your music on the build in drive of your computer for best performance though.

I will add the multiple locations to the missing file manager. I'm a mobile dj playing open format which is why I have so much music.
I understand, that is the only acception for having so much music. Eventhough I suggest spending some time to give your tracks a closer look to see if you're not dragging around a hunch of stuff you never have/gojng to need ;)

You can only share libraries across different computer with the Creative subscription, not the free plan. The free plan has a trial function but this only works for a few files. The methode I talk about in this video works for all subscriptions. I show it with the Free Plan.
Thank you for this very informative video! Everything worked until it came to analysing the track, after which i got a repeated error message "unable to use or edit track analysis data". I followed everything to a tee and I can't analyse tracks or get rid of the ? symbol. Even when I delete all the track and add them from the files, it still won't analyse at all. Any ideas why this might be?
No I have 500gb left on my HD, and the same thing happens when I delete the whole library and add just a few tracks to test it. It's got me stumped! I even deleted and reinstalled the software...@@DJResourceTV

You can import playlists back into rekordbox by right clicking them on the device and choose for ‘import playlist’. In the future do all your work in your collection ;)
Does Rekordbox automatically backup the database to a folder on your computer in some way or is the only way to complete a backup through clicking File>Library>Backup Library?
Do you think it is safe to keep your DJ library in the Rekordbox/Dropbox folder without risk of deleting tracks in error? I do not have a local music folder on my computer and prefer to download my music and keep my library in the RB Pro folder and let it sync across my devices. How do you personally store and backup your DJ music library?
If you use files in Dropbox folder the Missing File Manager can get confused so I do not import files from Dropbox folder into rekordbox. If you have Creative subscription you can use rekordbox to copy/move your.music to rekordbox. Otherwise I use FreeFileSync tool to backup my.music folders.
Great tutorial! I just recently bought DDJ-FLX4 and find the need to download Rekordbox 6 to use it. If I migrate to version 6, do I still need version 5 app? or can I just delete the version 5? Please help enyone.. thank you :)
After you have installed rb6 and did the conversion so your Collection is transfered you do not need rb5 anymore. So once you converted to 6 you can safely remove rb5

hi, i try to do as you say, but i have windows 8.1 on rekordbox5 and on new pc windows 11 on rekordbox 6.7 i start library restore with all files on usb drive from rekordbox 5 and then try to restore on new pc with last rekordbox version. After some second that procedure started program show error message "impossible Restore collection"
Ehm that is very weird and I do not have a clear answer to that to be honest. Isn't there some error being mentioned ? How big is your collection, perhaps its so massive it gives such error ? Did you do the backup WITHOUT music files ? Those need to be transfered seperately. If you have big collection that files could be so long that your computer times out before it can open/read it.
After I import the Library Backup to my new MacBook (with the same rekordbox Version 6.8.5) all the Beatgrid information is lost. Why is this happening and how can I fix it?
@@conservelesoleil your grid info is not altered when you do an update or import of a backup. Are you sure they where properly set when you made that backup ? Perhaps re-restore the backup ? Or just analyze the grids again, not sure from what version you are coming but that engine is improved constantly. In rekordbox 7.0.7 there was a huge improvement as that introduces the ‘accurate’ option.

It should be below the restore backup in the File > Library menu. Restore (2nd) replaces everything in collection with ba kup. Import from v5 (3rd) adds the contents of the ba kup to the current collection. But that is most of the time not what you want

I got all my library stored on an external drive, and I was looking to buy a new SSD for backing up my library, as well as looking into cloud storage options. 2 days ago for some unknown reasons, rekordbox gave me the error saying that the "Device library is corrupted". If I ignore the message and click no to remove my collection, everything seems to be working fine. Rekordbox lets me preview the songs,playlists are still there, files on the drive are still there.. So after this happening I did my backup and now I'm not sure how to move from here. Any tips? I was thinking to buy the new SSD as we speak,move the music files and database over there,and see if it fix that..
'Device Library Corrupted' is a notification you can get when device are not removed properly (Always use USB STOP and hold it till blinking of device stops). This is not a notification you should get from the main source drive of your files. Is the error still appearing or was it only once ? Sometimes ejecting and reconnecting a device solves stuff
Nice tutorial how about if your not using dropbox and want to store your music locally? I've tried the same process copied the music onto my new Mac and set the auto relocate folder. Rekordbox can see my playlists and cue points but the auto relocate isn't working after leaving it running for 24hours +. Only seems to work if I re-locate individual songs which will take me weeks. Any ideas how to fix this? 😉
As I mention in the video it does not matter where that folder is. At the end Dropbox is just a folder on your computer that could be anywhere. Not sure how large your collection is but the auto relocator should work faster than that. Perhaps if you try to link files on a network drive or a slow USB drive it can take longer, but normally it should be done quickly. Are you sure you changed the settings and pointed the auto relocator to the folder that holds your music ? Do not point it to the root of a drive or disk, always point it to a folder !
hey, this video was really helpful! I still use rekordbox 5 since I'm comfortable with it, and decided to put it onto my new computer. unfortunately, my new computer was put under a slightly different name and once I put all the backup files onto rekordbox, all my songs went missing! What's worse, is that it won't allow me to replace them all manually. I had bought some songs on apple music, and some were mp3 files through my local files and it won't accept any of them! can you help? x - madelyn
You best upgrade to RB v6 so you can use the Auto Relocate function for quickly relinking your files. You should be able to do it manually in v5 but it is a daunting job that gets repetitive and annoying pretty quickly. You should select al files in the Missing File Manager, then browse to a folder, hit Relocate and see what it finds. Then select all files in Missing File Manager again, browse to other folder and keep repeating untill all is relocated. In RB6 it is just assiging the main music folder and hit Auto Relocate to relink all. What controller do you use with Rekordbox 5 ?
@@DJResourceTV I use the ddj-rb as a controller. Since I got a subscription to rekordbox with my ddj I don’t really want to pay monthly to use it. Thank you for your advice! I had to do it all manually and some songs were still missing in the end.. but the best thing is that I managed to link my Apple Music tracks to my rekordbox and didn’t lose them :)
Thanks for the very informative video. However it didn't work for me. I have just backed up my library using rekordbox 5.8 on my old iMac. I want to restore my collection on my new macbook pro running macOS Monterey V12.6.5. I am using the free version of rekordbox. When I try to restore my collection, I received this error with no other explanations. Restore Collection - failed to restore the collection I have looked around on the RB forum and I note that this error has been posted before for older versions of RB, but there has no response. I followed your video 4 times, and i am baffled why i received the same error. Can you please assist ? Thanks
Perhaps you did not change the file/disk permissions for rekordbox so it cannot access the location where you have stored your backup. Check in the preferences of OSX and go to : Preferences > Security & Privacy and make sure that Rekordbox is in the column on the right at the 'Files & Folders' category. And also check if the slider for Rekordbox in the 'Full Disk Access' section is toggled on.
I first tried to move the database via the settings - advanced - move database option. This gave me a "corrupted database" warning. When I try your method, I get the warning "The configuration file cannot be read. Restart with a backup file", but after this message it started analyzing. Next I received "you have to resync my tag after starting rekordbox 6" and after declining this, "My Tag will not be exported because this device is synced with another computer." Any idea why I got the corrupted database message (even though it worked fine on RB 5) and how I could re-start everything so I can get my tag too?
That 'Move Database option' you can better leave alone if you do not know exactly what you are doing. That option moves your database (so it will be removed from source location, which is not always what you want). If you get that 'corrupted' message but rekordbox starts analyzing after a restart is nothing to worry about. After that analyze it should work as intentded. Cancel that resyncing of the MyTags, if you are not actively using that, that second message is just confirmation of your choise. MyTags is an extended way of organising, but I doubt you are using these tags so best to just Not sync them.

No that is very difficult to trace.your best bet is follow the popup and restore one of your backups. Once the database file is corrupt there is little you can do other than restoring a backup
I have a problem with moving collection I have two diferent portable hardrives and diferent database in each, also i have a new laptop so i want to use the new laptop with one hard drive but i think i messed up the database cause now i dont show Any playlist or folders, in one laptop i have version 5.8.7 and the other version 6
Databases from 5 and 6 are not interchangeable, you would need to do the conversion with Rekordbox. You are able to restore v5 and v6 backups in rekordbox 6.
@@DJResourceTV No MacOs Monterey. Its work , but not so fast as Recordbox 5. When the track is being analyzed on the record box 6 . The loading check icon appears and then disappears again. When this icon appears I can't do anything in the recordbox.
If analyzing is not as fast as in rb5, make sure in Preferences > Analysis you set it to 'performance' so it uses all cores of your computer toto do the analyze
You do not have to re-analyze as the old analysis data will be transfered. But as the analyse engine of RB6 is update my advice is to let it re-analyse over night.
@@michel0broekmeulen In case you want to keep the changes to a Beatgrid, use the padlock icon in the Beatgrid bar for that track. Yes you would need to do that maually, but for the music I play RB nails it at least 95% (a lot of it is vinyl)

About to go on Air on my Radio Show but just briefly - more info later ....... in RB6 on new machine zipped file cannot be used. Spoke to Pioneer Engineer via helpline suggested your Video firstly but then told me to unzip and place the folders etc manually did that and still my collection is not recognised in new iMac RB6 neith is my 75 or so playlists or Histories. Ok back again - first message lost - here goes again. - Backed up to Zipped Drive on 2017 Mac with RB5 moved file over to 2019 Mac with RB6 "Backuo cant be restored at this time. So Pioneer Engineer told me to watch your video which I had already done and said it dint work for me - he then told me via the helpline to unzip the file and place the folders in places given by e-mail. Still I cannot see my Collection or my 75 playlists or any History. My Music is seperate and does not need to be backed up as its on an External 2TB Orange Lacie HD - Can you help please @@DJResourceTV
What is it that you cannot find? If you are having trouble finding your tracks, make sure the ID3 TAGS are filled in (this does not happen automatically)
Select a track, in the right side there are 4 little icons, one of them is the I symbol. When clicked this opens the tag editor in rekordbox. You can also select a tracks and double click the title/artist of that track in the main collection view to edit this information. I recommend to fill in the tags before you import files in rekordbox..check one of my streams for more info about that

I did the analyse again as I upgraded from v5 to v6 and I know there had been improvements made to the analyse engine.

You can restore a backup from any location but it needs to be reachable for your computer

I'm not sure what error that could be, perhaps your hard drive ran out of space? Are you able to import new files, does that work?

No this does not go automatically, you have to start the backup process manually by clicking.

Rekordbox is not designed to share music. But you can import a playlist from a device exported by any computer.

Restore (2nd) replaces everything in collection with ba kup.
Import from v5 (3rd) adds the contents of the ba kup to the current collection. But that is most of the time not what you want
Hi! I got all my library stored on an external drive, and I was looking to buy a new SSD for backing up my library, as well as looking into cloud storage options. 2 days ago for some unknown reasons, rekordbox gave me the error saying that the "Device library is corrupted". If I ignore the message and click no to remove my collection, everything seems to be working fine. Rekordbox lets me preview the songs,playlists are still there, files on the drive are still there..
So after this happening I did my backup and now I'm not sure how to move from here.
Any tips? I was thinking to buy the new SSD as we speak,move the music files and database over there,and see if it fix that..
'Device Library Corrupted' is a notification you can get when device are not removed properly (Always use USB STOP and hold it till blinking of device stops). This is not a notification you should get from the main source drive of your files.
Is the error still appearing or was it only once ? Sometimes ejecting and reconnecting a device solves stuff
Nice tutorial how about if your not using dropbox and want to store your music locally? I've tried the same process copied the music onto my new Mac and set the auto relocate folder. Rekordbox can see my playlists and cue points but the auto relocate isn't working after leaving it running for 24hours +. Only seems to work if I re-locate individual songs which will take me weeks. Any ideas how to fix this? 😉
As I mention in the video it does not matter where that folder is. At the end Dropbox is just a folder on your computer that could be anywhere.
Not sure how large your collection is but the auto relocator should work faster than that. Perhaps if you try to link files on a network drive or a slow USB drive it can take longer, but normally it should be done quickly. Are you sure you changed the settings and pointed the auto relocator to the folder that holds your music ?
Do not point it to the root of a drive or disk, always point it to a folder !
hey, this video was really helpful! I still use rekordbox 5 since I'm comfortable with it, and decided to put it onto my new computer. unfortunately, my new computer was put under a slightly different name and once I put all the backup files onto rekordbox, all my songs went missing! What's worse, is that it won't allow me to replace them all manually. I had bought some songs on apple music, and some were mp3 files through my local files and it won't accept any of them! can you help?

You best upgrade to RB v6 so you can use the Auto Relocate function for quickly relinking your files. You should be able to do it manually in v5 but it is a daunting job that gets repetitive and annoying pretty quickly.
You should select al files in the Missing File Manager, then browse to a folder, hit Relocate and see what it finds. Then select all files in Missing File Manager again, browse to other folder and keep repeating untill all is relocated. In RB6 it is just assiging the main music folder and hit Auto Relocate to relink all.
What controller do you use with Rekordbox 5 ?
@@DJResourceTV I use the ddj-rb as a controller. Since I got a subscription to rekordbox with my ddj I don’t really want to pay monthly to use it. Thank you for your advice! I had to do it all manually and some songs were still missing in the end.. but the best thing is that I managed to link my Apple Music tracks to my rekordbox and didn’t lose them :)

I have just backed up my library using rekordbox 5.8 on my old iMac.
I want to restore my collection on my new macbook pro running macOS Monterey V12.6.5.
I am using the free version of rekordbox.
When I try to restore my collection, I received this error with no other explanations.

I have looked around on the RB forum and I note that this error has been posted before for older versions of RB, but there has no response.
I followed your video 4 times, and i am baffled why i received the same error.

Perhaps you did not change the file/disk permissions for rekordbox so it cannot access the location where you have stored your backup.
Check in the preferences of OSX and go to :
Preferences > Security & Privacy
and make sure that Rekordbox is in the column on the right at the 'Files & Folders' category.
And also check if the slider for Rekordbox in the 'Full Disk Access' section is toggled on.
I first tried to move the database via the settings - advanced - move database option. This gave me a "corrupted database" warning. When I try your method, I get the warning "The configuration file cannot be read. Restart with a backup file", but after this message it started analyzing. Next I received "you have to resync my tag after starting rekordbox 6" and after declining this, "My Tag will not be exported because this device is synced with another computer." Any idea why I got the corrupted database message (even though it worked fine on RB 5) and how I could re-start everything so I can get my tag too?
That 'Move Database option' you can better leave alone if you do not know exactly what you are doing. That option moves your database (so it will be removed from source location, which is not always what you want). If you get that 'corrupted' message but rekordbox starts analyzing after a restart is nothing to worry about. After that analyze it should work as intentded.
Cancel that resyncing of the MyTags, if you are not actively using that, that second message is just confirmation of your choise. MyTags is an extended way of organising, but I doubt you are using these tags so best to just Not sync them.
@@DJResourceTV The warning "The configuration file cannot be read. Restart with a backup file" together with the "corrupted database" message when I tried the method "preferences --> advanced --> moved databases" makes me wonder if some of the songs in my collection are viewed as corrupt by RB.
Is there a way to find out what could be wrong (so I can prevent problems when exporting the collection to USB sticks for playback on the CDJs)? Thanks!
No that is very difficult to trace.your best bet is follow the popup and restore one of your backups. Once the database file is corrupt there is little you can do other than restoring a backup

I have two diferent portable hardrives and diferent database in each, also i have a new laptop so i want to use the new laptop with one hard drive but i think i messed up the database cause now i dont show
Any playlist or folders, in one laptop i have version 5.8.7 and the other version 6
Databases from 5 and 6 are not interchangeable, you would need to do the conversion with Rekordbox. You are able to restore v5 and v6 backups in rekordbox 6.
Why my backups failed
If you make them without music files and you have enough space on the destination location there should be no issue..what kind of error do you get?
Thank you very much . But I downgrade , from 6 to 5 ... 🤦♂️. I have Mac 💻 Pro m1 14" , but 6 version 6.7.0 ssooo laggy when I analyze new tracks ...
That’s weird, running M1 13” myself and runs as it should. I would assume you run Ventura on the Mac?
@@DJResourceTV No MacOs Monterey. Its work , but not so fast as Recordbox 5. When the track is being analyzed on the record box 6 . The loading check icon appears and then disappears again. When this icon appears I can't do anything in the recordbox.
If analyzing is not as fast as in rb5, make sure in Preferences > Analysis you set it to 'performance' so it uses all cores of your computer toto do the analyze
So all tracks will be analysed again? thats sh*t. i will stick with 5
You do not have to re-analyze as the old analysis data will be transfered. But as the analyse engine of RB6 is update my advice is to let it re-analyse over night.

@@michel0broekmeulen In case you want to keep the changes to a Beatgrid, use the padlock icon in the Beatgrid bar for that track. Yes you would need to do that maually, but for the music I play RB nails it at least 95% (a lot of it is vinyl)

'but' - all matching/related tracks on the right tab are gone, and how do i get Rekordbox Video on my second monitor? (Rekordbox video is the only reason i would go from 5 - 6)

About to go on Air on my Radio Show but just briefly - more info later ....... in RB6 on new machine zipped file cannot be used. Spoke to Pioneer Engineer via helpline suggested your Video firstly but then told me to unzip and place the folders etc manually did that and still my collection is not recognised in new iMac RB6 neith is my 75 or so playlists or Histories. My Music is seperate as it is on a 2TB Lacie Orange HD which I used happily on my older Mac with RB5 Can YOU help@@DJResourceTV

Ok back again - first message lost - here goes again. - Backed up to Zipped Drive on 2017 Mac with RB5 moved file over to 2019 Mac with RB6 "Backuo cant be restored at this time. So Pioneer Engineer told me to watch your video which I had already done and said it dint work for me - he then told me via the helpline to unzip the file and place the folders in places given by e-mail. Still I cannot see my Collection or my 75 playlists or any History. My Music is seperate and does not need to be backed up as its on an External 2TB Orange Lacie HD - Can you help please @@DJResourceTV

What is it that you cannot find?
If you are having trouble finding your tracks, make sure the ID3 TAGS are filled in (this does not happen automatically)

Select a track, in the right side there are 4 little icons, one of them is the I symbol. When clicked this opens the tag editor in rekordbox.
You can also select a tracks and double click the title/artist of that track in the main collection view to edit this information.
I recommend to fill in the tags before you import files in rekordbox..check one of my streams for more info about that
