Glad I found this video. I’m 19 & my posture has been horrible since I was born and it’s ruined a lot of my confidence. At this point I’m willing to try anything. Definitely doing a lot of this everyday.

I was diagnosed with congenital kyphosis at age 11 I have chronic back pain that people didn’t understand when I was younger but as I tell them now o have the body of an 80 year old man. I used to go to physical therapy once I was first diagnosed but it was too expensive for my family so I have been looking for a video specifically for this issue and I’ve been looking through your videos but I’ve finally found the video that I’m looking for so thank you

Ive been struggeling with kyphosis since I was a kid (im 29 now). I couldnt stand for more than 2 minutes without pain in my low back. Now im running 6km without pain. All these exercises will help you. But the key to fixing kyphosis is to try to push your collarbone (where they meet at the sternum) up to your chin while you do the head tucking as they show here against the wall. After you are able to control that, start moving arms over head without loosing the upward push. Basically start doing all the movements you are supposed to manage (with your collar bone pushing upwards). Always push your collar bone upwards (without curving your low back). If you cant do it without curving your low back then start by doing it in a bent over position like you are supposed to do a bent over barbell row.

"Wall angels" are really hard at first but after six months I can touch everything to the wall without any hand numbness :) My spouse still has difficulty with this exercise so it is helpful as you show to start with trying to flatten the sacrum against the wall. We also measured the distance from head to wall as you showed in another video.

At 65 and after having advanced kyphosis since my teens I've have severe wedging of the discs especially at C6 I've also now got calcified vertebrae in the first 4 of my back down from C6 so I have constant neck pain as I try to make my neck adjust for the deformation of the spine. I guess at my age surgery is out of the question and having to be mindful daily of posture shoulder muscles are constantly sore as they try to pull myself upright. Hope the younger viewers take you're advice as life in pain can seem very very long. Thanks for these exercises.

Hi to the most famous PT in the world. I have Akylosing Spondlitis, and I have to live with. Increasingly I am feeling less and less flexibility and motion, and I can't live like that. I am also overweight, so that does not help. I want to thank you for these exercises and advice. It really helps, and it is good to know that there is something on You Tube that deals with these symptoms. I have that condition where I lie on the floor and my head does not touch. If I continue to do the chin tuck, will it really help my head touch the floor? All your exercises are excellent. I do have the Hunchback posture and its so painful at times. But your advice is excellent. When I sit up and do the chin tucks, I feel pain in the lower back. I had decompression surgery on my spine on my C, T and L Spine 5 years ago. I am now beginning to get pain in my ankles, so that is not very good. At least I know what I have and your channel gives me hope. Thank you. I am doing strength training at the moment with dumbbells and I am enjoying it. Keep up the good work guys!

While he was using the foam roller he didn’t protract his shoulder blades (move them forward) and out of the way. Without doing so the foam roller cannot stretch the intended region i.e. the thoracic region of the spine.

You aren't kidding about how bad posture causes pain. Forward head carriage definitely has a domino effect of symptoms that makes a person's life miserable. From headaches/migraines to sinus problems to just downright pain. I need to fix this before it gets really bad like my grandma. You'd think her physical therapist would work with her on this, but they haven't! I'm definitely going to jump on them about that. What do you guys think about corrective posture devices? I have a stretchy velcro elastic posture corrector that helps keep the shoulders back. I'd wear it more often but it tends to cut into the skin in certain spots. I've also got a plastic brace for neck support but don't feel it's 'correcting' anything. Any devices you'd recommend?

Are there any exercises to correct the opposite of hunchback posture, which is a flat thoracic spine? Everybody talks about fixing a hunchback posture but barely anyone talks about fixing a flat thoracic spine, which poses its own problems. A flat thoracic spine can lead to a forward head posture, frequent headaches, and scapular winging. On top of that, it looks terrible and it can make you feel self-conscious to wear anything that shows your upper back. There's got to be something that can be done to correct or at least improve a flat thoracic spine! It's just as frustrating to deal with a flat thoracic spine as it is to deal with as a hunched posture.

Very good exercises, these guys make a great team, each one of them has their own exercises that can help you get better, it sure did to me! But may I ask, I have such a huge hunchback and stiff neck that it makes my head skip/jump a bit to the sides when I want to turn my head to left or right, I don't feel any pain but it's certainly not normal and it feels really scary once I do it/feel it. If anyone is familiar with it, may I have some tips for making it better? Thanks!

I was told only toning muscles by walking could correct this. Is that true?

Does it actually work though? After pain started kicking in I noticed this problem and have been trying to pay attention and work it for 2 years and so far just more pain and extremely tired and chronically sore muscles. Didn't realize bad posture could lead to permanent damage.. :(

I'm glad I found this video. I'm 27 and I have the posture of quasimoto. I will be trying these tips and see if they give me any results.

@@spinedoc18 hello, its not too late at age 27 to do this exercises for the kyphosis? Do you think it will help if someone will do it for let say.. 6 months ?

I can't advise you personally but in general I subscribe to the idea that health is a continually changing dynamic. We are either heading in the direction of better health or away from it. Anything we do that helps is good, no matter the age.

I hunch over constantly to study, read, take notes in class, it's terrible, but there's no other way! The desks in class are the worst too, they're practically in your lap
