Sitting in Pretoria, South Africa, with temperatures around 30°C, its difficult to fathom your working day. Hats off to you for this day's work result.
To be honest, watching these barn segment is so satisfying , but yet agonizing to watch sometimes, specially on days that you're by yourself. But this time; with the cavalry arriving? It's so nice to watch, great family team work.
The whole family together! Yay! Today is Jan 22 2025 Brevard County Florida @ 10:00 am .....raining, 48 F Real feel 36, 4+ inches of SNOW in Pensacola Florida. The barn build is moving along nicely! Keep up the awesome work everyone. See you in the next one.
Hey I'm the one that ends up saying, No Snow Just Breeze. Well today Tuesday January 21 and it's snowing here in Panama City Florida, USA. So far it's about 2". So far it's sticking
Watching this inside my warm house in New Orleans with the snow coming down outside and 11 inches on the ground....I can't believe I just said that. Love that yall all work together to accomplish goals.
Im so cold watching you Joel, common take break for few weeks until the weather gets little warmer please!! I know you guys are young and hardworking but, when you get old like me you feel sorry for yourself working so hard that you didn't think you never get old :) take care yourself :)
Look, I hate the cold so much. And I wish I could give you all a tropical heat wave for while you work. Poor Megan is from the land of sun. You have frozen her, lol.
Your wife bails again. Her battery pack for her jacket died. How convenient. Use the extra batteries from her nightstand drawer next time. I bet there’s a few packs in there. Or call her out, have an extra pack with you for a quick swap in the field. Then we’ll see how dedicated she is. Bet the hardware stores guys loved it when she asked if there was any extra “caulk” she could use… they’d be happy to offer up their liquid nails. Nailed it!
Joel you have a fantastic family everybody out there working so hard, especially in this awful weather. But I do want to point out one thing your mom is a beast. She can do anything. Oh my gosh I’ve been watching you for a while. She is amazing. Great job guys.
Joel, you and your family are tough! I love seeing the hay barn going up. Your dad must be cold through and through, being so high up. Gavin must have a super internal heater to just be wearing a hoodie. The very best to all of you. ❤ 😊😊😊
Dear Joel you need a hat that covers your ears.....you are making my ears freeze...it's good to see you making so much progress on the construction of the barn. It's going to make a HUGE difference when you get done with it. Wishing you all the best
Oh I see you have one That's cool !! It's awesome your family and Gavin braved the cold to work together on this project. You are a terrific group Bless you all
Being a content creator I know the work begins in editing. With that said: I would like to say "Great Job on the editing Gavin"! That must have taken hours and hours to do. Hope you are getting paid well.
Glad your family could help you. I really like your system of working on one truss and then flipping it onto the other wagon to do the other side. Smart. It’ll look like a never ending parade of trusses for awhile but one day you’ll say, “YES…no more trusses!”
Many hands make light work, so the saying goes. Boy oh boy you must be freezing, but well done for getting the quota done for today. It’s looking good.
Wow!! Joel that was alot of work you all accomplished, it's nice to have a family that doesn't let you work alone, Megan surprised me she can handlea power tool ,and she came back to help good job everyone ⛺️🔨🪛
Fantastic team work all in freezing 🥶🥶🥶🥶 cold and wind 🌬️🌬️🌬️🌬️ Megan girl you are awesome 😊 Gavin 😘😘 also Mum 👍👍👍 Dad special award for completing the worst job glad you had the hot tent 👏👏👏👏 Joel WELL DONE the dream is really starting to take shape ❤❤❤❤ Love the bloopers 😁😁😁 Great video on family working together Hot bath and chocolate for all 🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉 Love from the UK x
I am concerned about the gussets for two reasons. One, not enough screws. It seems you’re using them as clamps for the Liquid Nails. It would be better if the screw count were tripled to act as additional strength. Two, the Liquid Nails needs to be applied above 40 degrees (F) and that includes the adhesive and the surfaces. Maybe pull a few of the screws from some gussets and see if the adhesive has strength. For what it’s worth I am not a construction guy. But I have been on several projects. I also looked up Liquid Nails temps.
an old 'real' cowboy in Missouri use to tell me stories...one was he would sleep in the hay shed out 'there'...riding fences...he said he'd toss his overcoat out into the snow, before, putting it on, when starting his day...worked for him. I'm like you, I want my things warm. I'm at the age where I sometimes want to take a HOT shower just to get my innards warmed back up.
@eileenmcdonald1599 Eh, I'd rather he and fam/friends to be safer, out of the wind. Wouldn't have taken much longer than the feeding station with the hay bin in the middle, if that. Doesn't matter now of course, just concerned.
"If I turn the camera off, it dies"...isn't that how it's supposed to work? lol...just ribbin' ya a bit. I would not want to be out in cold like that unless it was absolutely necessary (or if I was getting paid a good wage). Stay warm!
Sooo I watch Joel here and Andrew on the Veggie Boys channel. Joel and Gavin help on the farm but I don't remember seeing any of the Veggie Boys help at the stable. They are two distinct businesses, but why don't the Veggies come help with the hay barn once in a while? Andrew mentioned they are in off season and there isn't a lot to do so why not lend a hand with construction?
As a truss engineer for 20 plus years, little worried about those gussets only having 4 or 5 screws in em. My unsolicited advise is to attach the crap outta them things. I hope they work out well. Your jig and your cuts are impressive.
I worry about the glue you are using on several fronts: 1) What's the temperature range for applying/curing this stuff? (if I read the spec sheets right, it'd depend on exactly which adhesive you're using, some aren't rated for below 40F, others down to 22F which might be marginal for some of your chilly days); 2) How clean does the surface need to be/how well do you need to clean off the ice?; 3) Does the glue need to be spread with a brush or something prior to screwing the pieces together?; 4) Not really a glue question, but are the center bottom gussets adequate against the tension & shear forces they're going to experience? All of these probably don't matter until something really unusual shows up... perhaps a rainstorm after a heavy snow storm or a huge windstorm many years down the road.
Why are others family planning decisions any of your business. Its very rude and possibly hurtful to ask any of those type questions. For a variety if reasons .
So glad for your helpers today Joel!!❤❤. I hope everyone is okay and recovered from such a long frigid day on the build.

Thank you very much! I appreciate seeing all of your comments, thank you!
Megan of the one word answers!! Love it!! Y'all stay warm!!
You should pull the trailers in an empty greenhouse so you don’t have to assemble in the freezing cold

Joel it so exciting with every truss you all make. Love seeing you all work together
I need to get me one of those jackets for the cold up here in Michigan. It's looking great! I can't wait to see it when it's done.

It’s neat seeing everyone working on the barn . Love watching your videos
Every few trusses be SURE TO Add SUPPORTs DOWN THE MIDDLE VERY DANGEROUS they will flop over it will take another load of 2× 4 for braces big building
I hope Dad figured the width of the trusses with plywood on to fit in the hurricane strap lol.

Hi from The Netherlands
@@debrahall902 👋
What a day! 🥶You are hardy folks up there in PA! Great day. Now go home and get WARM!!!!🔥
Could you connect the tractor or wheeler to trailer and back it down to off load trusses then move trailer back for next load. Just an idea.

I commend you sir on your truss jig. Great work.
Hopefully you get some warmer weather to finish put the barn
Next week😊
2* here in Illinois. Really feel -9
What’s dad doing up there?
😊
You should’ve joined the Amish barn building club. You could’ve been done the first week.👍😊❤
Kinda wish y'all had built a run in shelter or lean to so you could build out of the wind.
Put a salamander in it!
Waste of time. He wanted to get to it as soon as possible

How are those clips going to hold a truss? You red squash blocks to nail too
Watch and see

Question...is the new hay barn getting metal siding?
Answered many videos ago. The entire plan was discussed.
@eileenmcdonald1599 well my apologies

I have one question why don't the veggie boys help????

Culk? or caulk? lmao
Joel do you think strapping a hand warmer to the battery will help it the extreme cold?
I think florida girl is missing summer lol
I feel you wasted the day by not putting up some of the trusses that were ready. You can make ‘em by yourself but not for putting them in position.
As someone has said before less talk, more work
