GIANT MUSSELS on The Oregon Coast! Forage and Cook With PK YI

- These giant mussels were found all along the Oregon Coast. We couldn’t believe how huge they were and the farther down we go the bigger they got. There were many little creatures such as baby crabs and sand worms in the crevices of the barnacles and mussels. The mussels were so sweet and delicious with all the different sizes. Very tender and soft and not chewy at all with a nice clean smell and aroma.

I had a great time during this trip, Sal. Definitely want to do more coop soon.
Yes that’s the plan PK, we really enjoy your cooking with all those bursting flavors. We all had such a great time and looking forward to more and fun adventures with you.
Nothing better than eating your own foraged organic Oregon mussels
Usually anything you put hard work into will taste so good. Way better than store bought
Totally agree with ya
Everything taste good when you work hard for it
Hi: I enjoyed your video. My first introduction to mussels was in NJ in the early '50s at age 9, at a pizza parlor where as a prelim to their pizzaa they would serve 3-4" mussels on the half shell, smothered in pasta/pizza sauce. Wow how tasty! Years later, in CA in the early '60's at Arcata I remember harvesting huge 6-8 inch mussels for cooking. Those huge mussels had too much dry meat! Plus, we later learned there was a red tide warning and mussels should not have been consumed. Guess I survived
Yes I can definitely see those huge ones become dry when cooking but when you put them in a seafood boil they become so tender and juicy and delicious. Thank you for sharing your experience with them and I’m happy to hear you’re ok eating them during the red tide 🙏
@Ron, on the half shell, smothered in pasta/pizza sauce sounds amazing!
Thank you for sharing 😋😋
Thank you 🙏
Wow look at all those mussels! Your guys cooking looks fun and delicious! I love mussels and seeing all those mussels got me so hungry . They look so yummy!

Great video Sal, we used to go out at seaside and harvest buckets full back in the days and did a huge seafood boils like you guys. So good!
Always so nice back then
Seaside used to be the best spot to harvest mussels
My grandpa would always bring home buckets full of mussels too and I never knew how he got them until watching this video. Now I feel awful for not eating the mussels
Those were definitely the nice good old days with no limit and not many people went and forage
Another great video bong proh! I’m so envious of you guys finding all those big delicious mussels! The catch and cook looks so good I’m drooling right now lol. Thank you for sharing another nice episode
Thank you so much 🙏
His videos are usually mouth watering with his cooking’s
The bigger the bigger usually but not in this circumstance. They are very chewy
Looks like you had a great time.

Thank you brother 🙏
8:45 that is Mr. Sins right there :D Nice Video!
Thank you for watching and cheers!
Those mussels sure are huge! I would love to try some! I can’t believe the super big ones were tender
I was shock that they were
I was told the huge ones were very chewy but Sal proof us all wrong lol
You would think the huge ones would be super chewy and not good but Sal says and showed us that it’s very tender and good!
Usually the huge ones are extremely chewy
All mussels are tender but the bigger ones are darker and dryer and more fishy but mussels arent very fishy so it's not that big a deal but I feed all the big ones to my cats cause they love em!
Would be amazing to have a chance to be able to go out foraging with you sometimes. You always have such an amazing attitude and positive look on life 😆🙏🙏
Yea one of these days
If you do take people on a forage trip please let me know I would love to come along and the price doesn’t matter
If you do start a foraging guide please let me know as well
So cool love this channel

Woahhh!! Did not know mussels grew on rocks. What an amazing sight to see! Love the foraging and mukbang haha

That would be a dream come true
Some people do 😅
That’s what I’m talking bout. Khmai collabo. 👍🏽 🤤
Yessir and thank you bro
I was surprised the big one wasn’t chewy. Great video Bong!
Yea I think it has to do with being boiled that made the meat tender and good kuya. Thank you for watching
The big ones are usually chewy but I guess it all depends on how you cook them
Those are some huge mussels!
I totally agree I was so shocked haha
Very nice, I love mussels
Thank you so much and yes nothing better than fresh organic mussels 😃
@@washingtonlife that’s the best bro, love foraging.

I just sub! Love ur videos! We must collab soon when i visit Washington!
For sure brother! Very much appreciated and you will love it here! 🙏
Thanks for this great episode! I definitely want to come to forage the Oregon coast some day. I am wondering what brand of seasoning you added to the pot at 8:00?
Thank you so much and the brand is “Louisiana Crafish Shrimp & Crabboil”
Allowed 72 each? Wow. Oregon is generous. Years ago I heard the limit in California was 10 pounds. I'm sure it must have change by now.
Yes Oregon is very generous. One person limit will feed an entire family. Wow 10lb is nothing if you get a few of the huge ones you already reached your limit.
How safe are these to eat ?? I went out and got some before and I open 1 and seen I guess parasites inside , is that normal??
Oh man I have never seen any worms or parasites in the ones I have forage for. I guess just make sure you cook them really well and safety wise I’m not sure. Thank you for watching and cheers 🍻
Greetings, can you tell me where I can fish for Shad that does require a long walk to catch them. I have knee issues but love to fish. Any guidance is appreciated. Thanks/ed
The best place to fish for Shad is at Bonneville dam but there’s a lot of big rocks that you will have to cross but there are some trails you can walk down skipping the rocks. If you like to see here’s a video I made 2 days ago ua-cam.com/video/t8pXa-OLdZ4/v-deo.htmlsi=sEe6gMjiJOW8lFaQ
@@washingtonlife I actually was watching this video which prompted me to inquire. I’m in Vegas, but can I fish that damn most of the month of June? I’ve been fishing Homer, Alaska for halibut n king salmon these past 10 years. But as I get older with less disposable $ for my love of fishing, I really enjoy eating herring, smelt or anchovies, and would love to go and catch them.
And thank you for your quick response. I really appreciate it, and your passion to share your experiences. 🙏👏🏻👍
@@edbenavente166 your welcome and thank you for your time on watching my videos I really appreciate it
@@edbenavente166 herring and smelt are usually in March here and yes the Shad run is all of June 👍
At minute 11 i hate u so much right now 😂😂😂

@@washingtonlife it's a delicacy over hea in Nz raw mussels, kina(sea urchin), oysters raw fish 👍
Where is this at?
Was in Oregon brother and I can’t give out the exact location since it’s not my spot unfortunately
