This is such an excellent way to teach music theory. Shey conveys the bases on which all music is built and how each tone is used to put a musical piece together. She is an excellent teacher. Thank you for the lesson. Please make more.
If you need to know ----- a major chord is formed by taking any note (the root of the chord, which gives the chord its name), go up 4 half-steps (a half step is the very next note, white or black). The note you land on is the "third" of the chord. Then, from that note (the third) go up 3 half steps (the note you land on is called the "fifth" of the chord). The root, the third, and the fifth makes up your major chord. Major chords sound "happy." For a minor chord, you start with the root, go up 3 half steps to the third, then 4 half steps from the third to the fifth. No matter how you flip the three notes of a chord around (called inversions), it is still the same chord, with the same exact name. Inversions is a whole different lesson, but this will give you the idea of how to build chords.

"We will call it god because it's the foundation of the family" a belief that not everyone has. I came here to learn music theory and I'm seeing childish graphics representing a conservative family. Guess who is the sub dominant in the family: Mom. Yeah this is cringy.
Dorian, phyrigian, Lydian, Mixo Lydian, dominant phyrigian, Mixolydian b6,harmonic minor - are we are a joke to you?

You Satan's progeny with all those augmented 4ths!
no there agnostic 😂
Different religions.
Fern Forwood XD
God bless you and you’re blessed you with the talent of teaching. That’s the best explanation of chord family that I’ve heard. Thank you for the video
Steven C Highley people are learning from it. That’s all that matters.
Simplified yet highly informative. Best description ever. 👍 👍
I absolutely LOVED this video . Learnt more than I expected to .. including that family values have NOT died! Well done and BIG THANK YOU!
The 5th chord should be Mother in law:
She creates tension and makes you all want to resolve back to Home or run to God.
According to this theory, the mother cannot walk the dog, unless afterwards she goes to talk to her son and the dog meets God.
hahahahaha omg, i died.
Yes
I can confirm these series of events to be canon to the story
I'm not too cleaver please spell that chord progression for me... Is it IV, vii, vii°, I ?
@@christophermoody6840 it is the tritone resolution :)
Beautiful ! Easy to understand, thanks
As a European, this is the weirdest video I've seen this month on youtube.
Right?!
What, Europe doesn’t have a weird side of UA-cam? This is a 2/10 on the weirdness scale at best
European humor is no laughing matter
@@krcrk Article 13 banned it.
boe2 Europe becoming more socialistic is also weird
Teacher, your videos are amazing, thank you!
one of the best teaching videos ever !! Love these comments too xD
I love how you teach!
I am a christian and learning chords now, as I want to play fm my heart. This is such a logical and best explanation I ever heard. Keep going, and God bless you.
This is a beautiful teaching. Thank you.
This has been one of the most effective video tutorials so far. Shalom!
Waoooooooooo!!
This was so great,
Am listening to this and trying out my best to understand and applying those four things spoken in the lesson.
Thank you!!!
This was a very genius way to explain it, thank you so much for the explanation, since music has been always abstract thing for me to understand, and you made it reachable for people like me, with difficulties for learning. Bless you.
"dominant and sub dominant" Lol trying to trigger feminists I see
I'm triggered. lol. jk jk I thought the same too
🤮 Praise Satan and stuff that mom had real strength and dominance. She cleans and works hard. That dad clearly has too much free time to bodybuild between cheating on his beautiful hardworking wife. 😋 Show muscle is cute dad, but she's definitely stronger. *Side note, The gay son was super cute also. Can't wait to see what he brings to the family as he grows into adult hood.
feminists can be triggered by even a fart
@@pi3tr3 yeah.... lool thats true
that is what they are called, it has nothing to do with anything but music.
What a wonderful way of teaching music theory! Bless you!
now I can use this information in my black metal solo structures, thank you
This is so ridiculously evangelical that i will actually remember this for all the wrong reasons haha
Well this helped me a lot! Thanks for breaking it down in a way that makes sense..
Lady!! Whoever you are. God bless you. Nobody explained chords to me like that. Neither in person nor on UA-cam.
Really good job. You broke complicated music theory down into some understandable and relatable terms while staying memorable.
Unbelievable one of the best channels to learn music theory
minor 4th should be the step momma. also creates tension, but still resolves nicely to the tonic. but has a bittersweet feeling to it
What a surprisingly pleasant video explaining the chord relationships and very well explained, I as a beginner have searched for this type of explanation and after this video I applied the concept to a few keys and have suddenly been able to make my musical improvisation sound reasonably coherent.
Many thanks
