You are such an inspiration to me! I have bipolar depression, and sometimes no matter how much I want to paint I just can’t seem to get my mind to work right. Your techniques and your fun, loving personality always helps me so much and the flow of your videos is very therapeutic for me. Thanks for this terrific demonstration!
Pareidolia! My partner told me a couple of years ago that I have pareidolia. I'm discovering that it is a major help in watercolor painting. I think that watching you paint I have stretched it further and now pass on the label to you! par·ei·do·lia ˌper-ˌī-ˈdō-lē-ə -ˈdōl-yə : the tendency to perceive a specific, often meaningful image in a random or ambiguous visual pattern. Thank you for your willingness to share your skills with us newer artists, young and old.
I always enjoy product reviews. They have saved me money and pointed me in the right direction. Always love to see the spontaneous paintings, mine don’t seem to work out as well but what fun.
I recently started to watercolor and found you and am so happy I did. I love your videos especially the spontaneous ones. I also just totally love the music in this one, sounds very Celtic. Love your channel.
I dont know if you listen to the same music we hear...but You kept time beautifully with what we heard...........and all of a sudden with a few strokes of your brush there was a small pond in the painting.........Magic and wonderous to me.......Thank You!
I love it when I can look at your spontaneous washes & see the trees & rocks emerging way before you put them in lately. These brushes look like the stiffer & snappier type of brushes that I am looking for. I am definitely going to have to give their website a look. Also glad to know how long the Kolinsky Sable brushes will last, especially for the price. This painting is gorgeous. Thanks for sharing this wonderful video & testing out the brushes.
I just love the spontaneous watercolor you do. Thanks for the tips on water. That seems to be my biggest issue, along with paints that dry out and I use quality stuff. 🤔.
Hi Steve, Just wanted to thank you for all the inspiration your spontaneous paintings gave me when I first discovered your channel during covid, when I finally had time to paint. If only I had had a teacher like you years ago. They all said you just had to loosen up and let the watercolor do it's own thing , but until I found your channel that never made any sense. Your spontaneous techniques have been incredible inspiration and jumping off points to some of my best impressionist landscapes ever since. All the wondrous little nooks and crannies of nature just keep appearing as you work on them, drawing you into an unknown wonderland. It's no wonder they are always so popular. Thanks again, Steve!
Thank you so much for your videos! I’ve just started watercolor and have watched many UA-cam videos out there (all great), but yours are by far the most helpful! Found your channel through a Reddit thread rec. Great teaching and so much great advice. So helpful and awesome - thank you 🙏🏼 God bless 🤍
Thank you for posting this. I need to invest in watercolour brushes. I'm used to brushes that are not too soft. That makes me think half my brushes may not even be watercolour brushes. I will check these out. I appreciate your reviews and a wonderful spontaneous painting to enjoy.
Once again I am amazed at how this all comes together from patches of paint to a beautiful painting with such beautiful detail. I am going to figure this out for myself someday. :) Thank you for the inspiration.
What is the difference between the m graham paint and other paints? What do you like about it? I mostly have Daniel Smith paints and some Schminke ones for the nice granulation.
I liked this painting, with the trees based lower in the painting, a little more than the ones that look more like the trees are about the mid-way on the page and then rocks or a hill flow down from there. Obviously this is just a personal preference. Do you happen to recall what music you played throughout the video? It felt kind of minstrel-y. Thanks!
I love the way you paint, thank you so much for your videos (My credit card doesn't work on the internet). Love being able to become a patron on your channel… tess from Sweden.... ❤🎨
What a pity. How do you manage when you want to use the tip of the brush?? I noticef you use the Black Velvet. But I can not find a 4 or 6 or 8. What you advise me? Thanks Steve
I’ve been using silver black velvet ever since you recommended them a hundred years ago. They are workhorses and never disappoints. But these look interesting and I may try one. Thanks for the review, I always love watching your spontaneous paintings!
I love your informative videos. Thank you for doing them. I noticed that you are painting on an Arches sketchbook. I thought those were discontinued. Would you please tell us Where we can buy them?
NO body does spontaneous like you do, Steve! And may I say, I'm sure that you could do that with a garden stick..... Thank you for showing us this new set - they seem to do the job quite nicely. I value your opinion very highly as it influences my opinion and choices of products - thank you for that.
Of course I watched and with the music…and when it was time for you to stop I thought it was a football game and kept saying stop😂. It turned out great. We all imagine scenery differently and that’s what makes painting beautiful! 😊
What I look for is a sturdy ferrule and how well the brush comes to a point. And of course the feel of the brush fibers. I’m anxious to try the ‘oval wash’ . Great video, wonderful painting
"Technical info" can be good if its relevance to the subject under discussion is explained--as you usually do. A bunch of "tech speak" just meant to impress the listener (done all to often by some) is often ignored. Another fine example of playing around with watercolor while testing brushes. Thanks for the demonstration and evaluation.
Hullo Steve, Lovely painting and a truly sweet collection of brushes! I have more brushes than I can possible use up before I pass on! I believe that synthetic brushes have come so far in just the last 10 years! I think many are even better that natural hair brushes! Mixing and matching the different diameter hairs of synthetics are an ingenious method of creating these new age brushes! These are beautiful to hold and their looks are quite nice too! Thanks for the review and painting in action!
"A lot of synthetics will just plop all the water out as you paint"... mental lightbulb goes off as my mind flashbacks to my first watercolour efforts... using plastic Walmart brushes on Canson paper with cheap dye-based pan watercolours --- exasperated that my art looked like a three year old 🤪😂 Um, that'll do it!!
Thanks for introducing your audience to the Dynasty Water Lily brush. This is a very informative and fun to watch video. I love watching your spontaneous paintings and especially love this one! Your talent, experience, great teaching style, and kindness are always appreciated and by many others as well I'm sure.
I can barely afford a 15$ brush (that I don't even own yet..).After watching some videos to find out what brush to get, I found out I'm the only guy,who doesn't own 100 brushes that cost near 100$ each.. Damn it a bad thing to be poor these days...when everybwhenlooks so rich
Nah, not true. You could easily get by with 3 brushes and spend less than $40. Many artists do. I review brushes or I wouldn’t have a 10th as many as I have.
I appreciate your reviews. I recently watched some of your quick pen/ink/watercolor demos. Toward the end you recommended several books on the subject. I bought ALL of them and found them very inspiring. The books by Claudia Nice were a revelation. THANK YOU! I REALLY enjoy your videos. I've watched countless hours going back to some of the first ones you presented as well as your most recent ones.
The cats tongue brush performed well. I’ve just bought one and haven’t used it yet. The painting is lovely. One can see the sunshine through the trees. Well done and thank you. 😊
It's funny. Most people seem to have a soft spot for palettes or paints....like they need to try out the newest thing. For me it's brushes....I'm always looking for my next best brush!
I'm in need of new brushes so thanks for this. I was gonna get more princeton neptunes but these seem to be just as juicy but with a bit more snap. Aqua elites have too much snap to me. This line seems like a blend of the 2 qualities im seeking. Great video!
Watching the shadows go in to define the branch layers is just so magical. I was intrigued by the use of the opaque gouache, assume for contrast. Just stunning.

Love these spontaneous watercolours!
fabulous
Love the colors and the trees, Steve!
Of course we’re going to watch it! New brushes and a spontaneous landscape, what more could we ask for??!!
I love your spontaneous painting. I tried it yesterday, and it's a blast!!!
I love how you say (regularly), it turned out better than I thought it would. You are an amazing artist.
Beautiful painting!!! Always my fave, watching you paint spontaneously! ⭐
Beautiful, as always Steve.

ANOTHER. *WINNER* just gorgeous, thank you Steve your always so upbeat and encouraging!💗
Yes! Awesome painting!!! Love the music 🎶 😊
Beautiful spontaneous painting and those brushes are tempting to get !!!
Great music, Steve. Was expecting Robin Hood to come through those trees at any minute! LOL! As always...love your spontaneous paintings!
I recently started to watercolor and found you and am so happy I did. I love your videos especially the spontaneous ones. I also just totally love the music in this one, sounds very Celtic. Love your channel.
I enjoy seeing different brushes and how they perform. Good info and beautiful painting! Thank you!❤
I dont know if you listen to the same music we hear...but You kept time beautifully with what we heard...........and all of a sudden with a few strokes of your brush there was a small pond in the painting.........Magic and wonderous to me.......Thank You!
I look forward to all your videos.
those brushes look so pretty! ❤
It is magical ! I must say magic is in your style not in brushes. Thanks for sharing it 😊
Absolutely beautiful. I am so inspired thank you Steve
Another great instructional video. Mr. Magic 😂🙏👍💛
It's not the brushes it is your talent .
I really love the paints that you have used. The colours are fall-pretty 😊.
Just awesome watching you!
Another great one Steve! I have couple of Dynasty Black silver but they really are a student line. These Water Lilly brushes look like a must try!!
Me too! I use those for oil and they are dreamy to work with, so I’m excited they came out with a watercolor line too!
For sure we are going to watch!
I have found by watching you that a true artist such as yourself can paint with any brush!! Thanks again 😊
My pleasure 😊
🎨 Thanks for the fantastic video and lesson 👏👏👏

It's amazing to see the wonderful images that appear every time you put the brush to the paper, seemingly at random. Thanks👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾
The landscape painting turned out beautifully, and those brushes look awesome. Thank you for sharing this video with us!
Looks fantastic!!
Love to watch you painting, my faves are the spontaneous landscapes ...see it coming to life from "splashes" of color to trees
I just love the spontaneous watercolor you do. Thanks for the tips on water. That seems to be my biggest issue, along with paints that dry out and I use quality stuff. 🤔.
Oh my word, what a gorgeous painting! Wow. Reviews are always good too.
Frankly i’d watch any video of yours with a spontaneous painting. This turned out so great. Thanks for the video, love your channel !!!
Great demonstration!

Awesome! Thank you!
A beautiful, inspiring way to start the day!
Beautiful painting!
I love it Steve!!!!! Those brushes look great!
Boy that one turned out! I think I would be tempted to turn some of those lighter foreground areas into some rock shapes.
I’ll watch it 😄
thank you
Yeah, we're gonna watch it. 😂

You make it look effortless :) So beautiful!
Thanks!
Thanks so much for the support!
That was amazing and fun😊, thanks. Love my Silver black brushes but look forward to trying a few of these…
solid editing, great music choice and interesting content. Your vids are always pretty nice and easy to watch. Good effort!
Glad to see that you worked in some gouache.
Wonderful painting and music too !!
Thank you for reviewing the Dynasty Water Lily program.
My pleasure. Enjoyed working with them.
You have always inspired me, it was what happened this time too
I love you Boise Idaho
To me, you are an absolute magician! Beautiful landscape! Question: what brand of table easel is at the end of the video? Thank you !
Richeson Table Easel. Check the description for a link.

The music titles are in the video description I think. Don't remember them off hand.
I love the way you paint, thank you so much for your videos (My credit card doesn't work on the internet). Love being able to become a patron on your channel… tess from Sweden.... ❤🎨
Me too 😂😂😂
I don’t need more brushes either but it is fun to see. Love the loose style of your painting. What size is that cat tongue brush?
steve I would like to know which brushes you recomend to mantain the tip of the brush pointed. I appreciate your answer
Don't really have a recommendation for that specific concern. Sorry.
What a pity. How do you manage when you want to use the tip of the brush?? I noticef you use the Black Velvet. But I can not find a 4 or 6 or 8. What you advise me? Thanks Steve
Great video. Where can I find these brushes.
In the description
I don't see alink on this website to order the water lily brushes. Could not find on Blick either@@mindofwatercolor
Ok,I found some on Brush Guys. Thanks
I can't seem to find the subscribers button😢. Do I HAVE to join Patreon??
I have enjoyed this video and I want to subscribe. Please.

Every time I order a new art-related product I tell myself “I dont need anything else!” and then…. 😂
You rock Steve.... I've been looking for a brush sold as a set. Thanks for doing this.
I’ve been using silver black velvet ever since you recommended them a hundred years ago. They are workhorses and never disappoints. But these look interesting and I may try one. Thanks for the review, I always love watching your spontaneous paintings!
me too ! but these days i feel the need to try something with just a little bit more snap , than the silver black velvet .
I love how you turn a hot mess into something beautiful 😍 really cool!
I love your informative videos. Thank you for doing them. I noticed that you are painting on an Arches sketchbook. I thought those were discontinued. Would you please tell us Where we can buy them?
I put a link. They began making them again but it’s a slightly different size.
I love watching you paint this. Now I want yet another new brush…
Thank you.
You got me I’m watching 😂!

I love this painting so beautiful just in time for fall!! Oh how it's my all time favorite time of the year!
Mesmerizing. Thank you❤
The painting is beautiful. Thanks for sharing. The brushes are quite pretty and seemed to work well.
You can donate some of your brushes or art supplies to an art League.
I liked the tech detail about the brushes. Thanks for that. Beautiful spontaneous painting!
Your intros always make me smile, Steve.

Beautiful
