- Pokemon Competitive Singles in Gen 9 has seen more bans than ever before. Many of these banned Pokemon end up in a Limbo state, too powerful for OU but not powerful enough for Ubers.
With so many Pokemon now in this inbetween area, the player KineSquared decided to make a format where these Pokemon can shine.

You're gonna need to get a game design degree online, and FAST, if you want to make a better game than this. Not even the best strategy games android reddit could hold a candle to this breathtaking Next generation competitive Pokemon experience.
Scream Tail is the Jigglypuff of our wildest dreams. It has been buffed with some higher statistics and the incredible ability, Protosynthesis. Gen 9 Competitive Pokemon wouldn't be the same without this powerful pink blob. He kinda looks like someone I met in one of my game design and development courses.
Gen 9 Pokemon Showdown is one of the greatest online gaming sites in history. From Pikachu and Charizard, to Palafin and Roaring Moon, The new Pokemon games, Pokemon Scarlet & Violet, have introduced a lot of new faces. Can I succeed in one of the best android games of all time? If so, I'm gonna get myself a Walmart bakery Pokemon cake to celebrate.
Gholdengo is a Pokemon made of pure gold. He must have done some online business management courses to accumulate all that wealth. Or perhaps he might want to learn how to make money playing video games on UA-cam. In any case, he's a powerful metagame force, with absolutely no interest in online game development schools.

Even in real life, in cockfighting, which is legal in my country, there is a power creep of sorts in the form of supplements and blades. The blades and supplements of the past literally cannot compete with the current ones.
in Gen 9 this format finally got enough pokemon that it wouldn't just be "OU but horribly broken" , an exciting time

Awesome to see you here Alice!!! I'm interested to see that Baxcalibur is falling into UUbers. I've used him before in Ubers and he felt pretty okay still. Yeah, Koraidon still felt better, but Bax was more than Viable in Ubers. However, I'm interested to see how he will do in this new tier!!! Hoping for the best, long live the new Dragon/Ice Super sweeper!!!
Sounds like Magearna might need to be banned to BLubers.

I always love the Arceus name mindgames in ubers, like the classic Arceus-Steel (Flying)

I’m glad this development has taken place, the saddest thing for me when a mon gets banned is when it’s not good enough to actually do well in Ubers forever stuck in limbo.
My biggest takeaway is that the emu is a bigger threat mentally to Jim than any other pokemon in the format.
All jokes aside this tier is a fantastic idea and i cant wait to give it a shot!
That emu is the most unhinged thing GameFreak has ever done. Ingame it's literally a common wild encounter that you'd think is a shitmon, then you go to comp and it sends you to the Stored Power shadow realm
If we account for SU (SubZero used), ZU (ZeroUsed), and Little Cup, There’d be 11 tiers

You should check 35 Pokes, it's another community lead metagame in which only 35 mons are legal and it rotates every month. It's so fun seeing stuff like Comfey or Poliwrath terrorize a tier
Arceus Electric was recently banned in UUbers like Steel and Water ones.

Perhaps Arceus Electric could take advantage of teams that are too reliant on Clodsire to beat strong electric types (because of Miraidon).

I remember in gen 7 or 8, Jamvad tried to popularize an OUBL tier (same concept as UUbers), but it didnt really stick back then cause there really wasnt that many bad ubers (just the usual suspects like Genesect, Reshiram, some Arceus forms, etc.), but Gen 9 seems like the perfect time to do it, with all the low power uber mons now. I really hope this picks up some traction, since Id love to use my mans Genesect for more than a day each generation haha. Thanks for bringing some more attention to this, Jimothy!

When the first ban watch came out, and contained 8 Pokemon off the bat, I told myself I would come back to Gen 9 OU when the metagame settles, and huge bans stop happening.
I have not yet been able to return to Gen 9 OU.

I have always referred to Arceus forms as ice cream flavors. The most popular, of course are:
Chocolate (Ground)
Vanilla (Normal)
Strawberry (Fairy)
I am still trying to determine the other type flavors.

Also, I am torn about an idea for a fighting type flavor. Mystery dungeon games suggest orange for fighting, but it actually looks like a dark red color. I would like to use orange sherbet, but the color doesn't match the Arceus very well. Also, some would argue that sherbet isn't ice cream.

I love this. I was running teams with like urshifu, regieleki, espathra, etc in ubers because i never got to try them out and just got curb stomped by Miraidon every time lol
Reminds me a lot of random battles. An extremely fast paced metagame built around setup sweepers and massive offense.
That was really cool, I forgot just how many Pokemon are sent to UberBL. Would love to see a official tier next month.

I think it is really cool to see that the usage is based solely on ubers usage. It really removes the repetition of seeing the same OU pokemon in both ubers and UUbers.
The year is 2050. Gen 18 has just released. There's 6 different tiers of Ubers, starting at OUbers and ending at PUbers. The normal tiers have run out of alphabet to use, and the bottom tier is currently known as 12U, though some people are thinking about creating a 13U metagame, where mons too weak for 12U can shine. AG has a banlist, AGBL, which itself has spanned a tier for mons too good for AG but not good enough for AGBL, UAGBL. This is insane, and beautiful.
This is incredible, I hope this format sticks for as long as there are enough Pokémon who can exist in a UUbers tier

I talked about wanting it in a previous comment, but doubted I would actually happen since people seem to think it would try to replace ou. I've always thought that it would have no impact on ou, but I'm haven't contributed enough to the community to have a strong voice.
This format sort of sidesteps OU. Its the UU of Ubers rather than a tier above OU which kinda makes sense when it bans UU mons like Dirge and Treads.
I hope they make it an official tier so it appears in shodown
Hey Jimothy, I always thought something similar about ADV UU. the UUBL is so huge, it could be it's own tier. I think you could make a discussion video about that, what if all current UU pokemon were RU and all UUBL pokemon were ranked as UU? How would the UU meta be like? Seems an interesting topic to chatter about

FINALLY! I've literally been praying for smogon to introduce a format like this since I first got into competetive in Gen 7 - there's been so many cool broken-yet-not-Ubers-level mons which I love who are forever gets stuck in Limbo forever, never seeing usage. Finally my I can use my boi Genesect and have it actually be up against fair (I.E equally broken) competition.

I feel like this same concept applies to adv gen 3. If you look at uubl its as many pokemon as ou and uu. But because smogonites cling to tradition and their fantasized perfect metagame they won’t switch things up. There could be another tier that would allow sceptile and arcanine to be used but instead we have a laughably huge uubl banlist, where they can’t be used in uu and also rarely ever see play in ou.
I don't get why Zamazenta-Crowned isn't shown? It's faster than almost anything, literally unkillable with one or two moves and two Iron Defensive is enough to smack literally everything.
I've always wanted a uubers tier list since Blaziken got banned to ubers in gen 5... Though he would've probably stayed in Ubers since he had a niche there

Theres enough untiered fully evolved Pokémon to make a new tier or two. Enough LC Pokémon to do the same as well. Honestly, dividing all 1000 Pokémon into 7 tiers is ridiculous, but at least 8 makes it a bit better.
This is exactly what I’ve wanted. I’ve always been annoyed because cool Pokémon get banned from OU but have no place in the Ubers meta so they just vanish from competitive, this is awesome.
I love how the moment you move on from discussing the context behind UUbers and actually get into the game, it’s immediately pointing out how annoying the enemy team is going to be.

one thing I love about this metagame is that it's exactly what i'd expect for the power level of an actual endgame boss battle in pokemon
Its funny, there have been a couple tier like this such as Psueudos, but this is one of the first I've seen that isnt very slanged towards hyper offense alone. Very cool tier!

By Gen 12 Ubers is going to have at least 3 tiers and it will be like the Major Leagues of Pokemon. Meanwhile the classic OU, UU, RU... is going to feel like a semi-pro league.
People will say things like: "This pokemon is decent in OU but it can't even scratch it in NUbers."
Yeah it's starting to get a bit silly now. Ubers was the original banlist from standard play. Feels redundant to put a tier in the middle of it and OU.
Can't wait for Gen 12 when there'll be an RUbers.
