I’m now 63 and wish I’d changed my life style years ago. I think many people don’t take charge of their health until it begins to fail. I’ve now given up the socially acceptable stimulants altogether....that’s alcohol, smoking, coffee, tea and carbohydrates. I think the pleasure I get from nature, sunshine, being amongst friends etc has incresed. Good luck everyone, because navigating western society living will be a challenge but worth it.

I don't drink alcohol at all. The weird thing about that is that when I got my current job, going to in-person conferences with people at work is a really big thing, and they promote it by saying there will be alcohol there. I've passed on all but one of the conferences, and do you realize for a non-drinker how BORING it is to sit and wait while EVERYBODY in the group orders their alcohol, drinks it, then orders their food, and then at the end of the meal orders dessert and waits for that and eats it? It's the sugar. I haven't done sugar (been on keto) since 2017. Sugar and alcohol and being around people who consume both nearly killed me from sheer boredom, on that conference trip. I wish my colleagues could all see this video.

So many people seem to live to drink, sickening watching potentially good people poison their brains, relationships and function at half mass, or less.

I’m in the same boat. Don’t drink at all and I get so annoyed when in social settings people think I have a problem with alcohol. 🙄🙄. I’m like no, I just choose not to put poison in me and consume empty calories which impact my health, sleep and workouts negatively.

I lost interest in alcohol last year after listening to Andrew Huberman "Alcohol and Your Health". Such an eye -opener! I lost weight I needed to lose without trying, skin and hair is better, I can cope better with problems, I can stay calm when I need to. Wish I quit sooner.

Quit for all of 2023, had wine for new year's, then at a birthday party, and some wine after dinner couple of times, felt absolutely horrible and groggy and mentally slow the next days. I no longer see the point of having even a glass or wine or a beer, the price to pay is way too high.
I love being sober, I love the consistency in my emotions and improved sleep, shame I haven't quit in my early 20 but better late than never 😀

Day 79 of 365 here. The further I get into this journey, the more it is turning into a spiritual process and truly learning to deal with emotions I didn’t even realize I was numbing. I started drinking after my late husband passed in 2019 (covid ridiculousness added to it) and although I only drank 1 to 3 glasses of wine per day, it was chronic and caused cognitive impairment, 40 lbs of weight gain and liver pain as well as energy leaks and enslavement to a poison to “take the edge off.”

Very bad regardless of what the pundits claim about its positive effects. There are other things you can do to improve your health. Sleep and exercise being the number one and two ingredients.
