I’m now 63 and wish I’d changed my life style years ago. I think many people don’t take charge of their health until it begins to fail. I’ve now given up the socially acceptable stimulants altogether....that’s alcohol, smoking, coffee, tea and carbohydrates. I think the pleasure I get from nature, sunshine, being amongst friends etc has incresed. Good luck everyone, because navigating western society living will be a challenge but worth it.
I don't drink alcohol at all. The weird thing about that is that when I got my current job, going to in-person conferences with people at work is a really big thing, and they promote it by saying there will be alcohol there. I've passed on all but one of the conferences, and do you realize for a non-drinker how BORING it is to sit and wait while EVERYBODY in the group orders their alcohol, drinks it, then orders their food, and then at the end of the meal orders dessert and waits for that and eats it? It's the sugar. I haven't done sugar (been on keto) since 2017. Sugar and alcohol and being around people who consume both nearly killed me from sheer boredom, on that conference trip. I wish my colleagues could all see this video.
So many people seem to live to drink, sickening watching potentially good people poison their brains, relationships and function at half mass, or less.
Well stated!!! You are not alone! Health is wealth, cheers xx
Yep, I'd rather sit with meth heads, at least they're fasting😂
Agree
I’m in the same boat. Don’t drink at all and I get so annoyed when in social settings people think I have a problem with alcohol. 🙄🙄. I’m like no, I just choose not to put poison in me and consume empty calories which impact my health, sleep and workouts negatively.
I lost interest in alcohol last year after listening to Andrew Huberman "Alcohol and Your Health". Such an eye -opener! I lost weight I needed to lose without trying, skin and hair is better, I can cope better with problems, I can stay calm when I need to. Wish I quit sooner.
Wish I’d quit Earlier ❤
Quit for all of 2023, had wine for new year's, then at a birthday party, and some wine after dinner couple of times, felt absolutely horrible and groggy and mentally slow the next days. I no longer see the point of having even a glass or wine or a beer, the price to pay is way too high.
I love being sober, I love the consistency in my emotions and improved sleep, shame I haven't quit in my early 20 but better late than never 😀
Day 79 of 365 here. The further I get into this journey, the more it is turning into a spiritual process and truly learning to deal with emotions I didn’t even realize I was numbing. I started drinking after my late husband passed in 2019 (covid ridiculousness added to it) and although I only drank 1 to 3 glasses of wine per day, it was chronic and caused cognitive impairment, 40 lbs of weight gain and liver pain as well as energy leaks and enslavement to a poison to “take the edge off.”
79 days!!! You got this👍🏽
Congrats 🎈🎊🎉 You can do this! 30 yrs latter my Spiritual journey is my life!🙏🙏🙏
Congratulations! I noticed big changes after 3 months.
Sorry for your loss of your husband. The world really went bazurk these last few years. Huge congratulations to you on your alcohol free life!!!!!!!
Over 6 months here. It seems to get less appealing the longer I'm without.
Thank goodness, I thought you were going to say Coffee! Please don't take my coffee away. 🥰☕
@NessaRossini, that was my fear too! Take the alcohol lol, please don't touch my coffee! ❤
It's the coffee that I'm popping out of bed at
5 am for!!!
No alcohol-
no sugar-
no grains-
no seed oils
and almost no carbs!
Please don't take away my coffee!!!
😂
Or hot chocolate!
@@ohthankg-dforthebourgeoisi9800 I haven't had hot chocolate in ages. Gonna have to make a mug.
As I listen to this video, I can't help wondering if "sugar' can't be substituted for the word alcohol. Many of the same negative effects can be attributed to sugar, a pervasive household drug.
No not at all. Sugar doesn't destroy relationships. And many other things.
For me sugar it is for sure, addicted to it.
Yes it can. Listen to Dr Robert Lustig. Sugar is processed and affects the liver just like alcohol. Obese children are sugar-aholics.
I don't and never have drank alcohol or smoked I don't see the need for either! I am 84 years
One of the best interview on alcohol and addiction.
Very powerful video. Drinking is way too accessible and accepted. It is SOOOO toxic!! Please listen and understand this content and try to make changes in your life. You don't need alcohol to live and experience this existence. The world is telling you do, DON'T LISTEN!!!
Yes its true about cancer ,cirrhosis of the liver.
"I stopped drinking when I was 17!" My psychiatrist recommended I quit!
This is my biggest problem so I appreciate you talking about it Dhru.
Great guest! Ruari speaks so well; makes so much sense and is truly down-to-earth. Thought-provoking conversation about alcohol and its affects ... thank you.
I quit. I feel like a princess watching the drunks get louder at wineries while I drink Perrier and relax and have fun.
It’s true about Et-OH. I didn’t drink as much as most people and still got Brain & Breast cancers. Be careful everyone 🙏
Got iodine?
Alcohol didn’t cause it . Otherwise every drunk would get it . I’m sure it doesn’t help once you have it.
Always been grateful that my system can't handle the toxin so no interest in spending the money
My wife was an alcoholic. She died at 61 of pneumonia. I have no doubt alcohol just sped up her demise.
Sorry for your loss
I quit years ago but didn’t lose a pound 🤷♀️
Change your diet lol.
Walk 🚶♂️
I think the world needs to understand that only men can lose weight by changing things. Basically any woman over 40 would have to cut off a leg to lose weight.
@@krickenthekraken8844
Exactly . That’s why I’m skeptical of men that make videos with that claim.
@@cgordon1386
I did. I cut 400 to 800 cal a day by cutting alcohol. I ate less, because alcohol increases appetite, so thermodynamically, cutting booze to lose weight was a scam.
Great podcast thank you gentlemen :). I find so many people lack the wherewithal to put in any effort to live a good life. It takes effort people, wasted many years with this crap. No more :) life changing.
Walking in nature is the best healing drug 🥰🤗
i have about 5 drinks a week. usually no more than one. never get drunk. i sometimes go 10ish days without a drink. i feel no different when i do.
So much meditation apps and influencers.
How do you choose a proper meditation to help with childhood trauma or alcholism?
I gave up carbohydrates which, after several months, enabled me to quit the drink.
Accept it happened, not only to you but 100s of thousands of others, so choose to move on and live each day as a new day or remain a victim. You have free will, do it or don't it's your choice.
@@cgordon1386Yes! Amen
I just can’t drink alcohol anymore…I feel so depressed and anxious the day after….Im now alcohol free. I’m now struggling with coming off chocolate.
Carnivore Diet as of Jan 24… No Sugar & I’ve realized my Addiction to Sugar… I’ve fell off Carnivore But Got Right Back Off Sugar after eating Cookies 😢I’ve had a Couple of Resets onto my Diet because of Sugar! I’m beating the addiction of Sugar!!!
I quit
Thankfully 🙏 I quit Drinking As I Use Too! And can have a Drink or Beer (I’m a Carnivore & choose not Too Now!!) as I wish without having any repercussions! And I did use to drink heavily
Does this apply to kombucha, which has naturally forming alcohol?
No amount of alcohol is good for the human body. It is a toxin, a poison. Alcohol will diminish your quality of life. I used to make my own kombucha tea. No more. It is loaded with sugar. Very bad regardless of what the pundits claim about its positive effects. There are other things you can do to improve your health. Sleep and exercise being the number one and two ingredients. Best wishes for a healthy and happy life.
Hmmm 1st clue, it's alcohol.
Other alcohol free ways of getting probiotics!
Big difference in my head the next day. Huge difference in strength
No, it doesn't
Join Tribe sober Online started 1 year ago. Never looked back
I never liked the taste of alcohol.. just not for me.. So glad I never drank
After 1 sip, the person is under the influence of a drug. All bets are off then..
A carcinogen that no warning label is required for.
"Change"- Bikram Yoga
This report is way too long for most people to sit through even though the information is valuable.
This video will NOT get much positive response because "it is something that everybody does."
SOO! Where's the video on coffee? Unless he's a coffee addict himself deluded into believing it has "health" benefits.....🤔
Coffee (organic) is healthy. Alcohol is poison.
I don't drink alcohol!
I quit coffee last year, my body and mind feels so much better. At least for me personally I would consider it toxic.
