I went from a 2013 brz to a 2012 TL 6MT and I haven’t looked back. After a 100,000 miles of ownership I still love this car. It may not be best looking car, but it is functionally the best manual awd daily driver you can own in the Midwest. Eat your heart out wrx and STI
it is, people are just stupid. It's better in pretty much every way than the 3G. People couldn't handle the grill then there became this band wagon of stupidity. People love them now, when they came out there were too many heads up asses and the crash of the economy. edit: I own a 2005 6 speed 3g and a 2009 FWD Technology 4G
I have a 2014 tl SH AWD and i love it so much! Just hit 111k miles and she purrs like a kitten! Excellent performance, lots of smiles per gallon and it fits all my friends for the most part! Fits kids much better but adults also fit in the back seat with light complaining!
You're spot on about the 6mt being the perfect daily!👌🏽 my previous whip was a 6mt g35 sedan, and that got way too much attention. The TL does it all without making a scene.
I just got my red 2010 Acura TL 3.5 base model it’s really fun to drive i love it. I came from a white 3rd gen TL both are good car and fun to drive but 4th gen TL is a piece of art.
I drive a mint 2013 SHawd Tech since new. Only 61K miles and tons of mods. It's bulletproof excellent. Nothing brakes. Just regular maintenance stuff. My only gripe is that you cannot swap out the factory stereo for a newer touchscreen head-unit because of the integrated ELS system. 09-25-24 - Update: A YT channel "Acura Audio Garage" came out with their own custom harness kit for aftermarket stereos for this make, model. Bought this kit and installed a new JVC touchscreen w/Android Auto! After install, I did full timing belt, water pump, spark plug service and will keep the car for more years to come! Just an amazing daily!
I used to have an ‘89 Mercedes which I still own as a project. Afterwards I got a 2012 TL 3.5 and I love it, I originally wanted a 3rd gen but I fell in love with it. Even after driving a SH-AWD I think I’ll drive my 3.5 into the ground
@@SteffanJohal It’s a 190E 2.6 in smoked silver, it’s a snazzy little car and I feel like it has a lot of character and they really don’t build cars the way they used to
I think this car was made way before its time and people during that era still preferred cookie cutter vanilla designs. The 2012 refresh was gorgeous and if they advertised this refresh with Umber Interior colour and in Advance/Elite Trim level with those 19 inch wheels and 6 speed Manual, i think it would have been very popular but the marketing of this car was flawed unfortunately as they kept showing base model with ugly 17 inch rims and no lip spoiler. This car looks and feels executive when you sit in it. Many 3rd generation enthusiasts whether owners or not only have the base or premium auto models in mind and forget the 6 speed manual with awd will demolish the previous generation
Dog your doing the damn thing on here player. Content on point. Your giving both views and hitting the bullseye... Now I can talk you to death about the 4th Gen and it was not THE GRILL. Actually it was the transmission issues in the 2nd&3Rd Gen that scared off Acura enthusiasm for the 4th Gen. How do I know. I had those transmissions in the 2002 Accord v6 and the 2001 Acura CL. They were terrible.the recalls etc made PPL shy away. I'm sure you up on those issues. I've reached out to countless PPL who agree. Once you Color match THE GRILL the argument is out the door. I have both the 2010 6 speed and the 2011 Auto box shawd. I got the best of both worlds. They are complete opposite of each other. Hard top describes unless you drive both. I'm sending your channel to PPL I hit up on youtube and telling them you got the hot new channel that's on point
My brother was telling me colour matching the grille is the way to go, it's true that the tranny issues probably did make people shy away! I appreciate the support as usual bro. Great cars these are.
@@SteffanJohal when I very first seen that car on a car lot with my wife I was like what is that ? I myself fell in love with the car but I understand about the grill but I color match my automatic and I'm telling you it makes a huge difference with the look of the car as for my 6-speed I just left it natural . I mean do your research on how many Transmissions issues they had with the 3.2 TL from 99 to 2003 and then need 3.2 TL from 2004 to 2008. The transmission scared people away because Honda didn't fix the issue they sent out the same Transmission in the recall and those same very Transmissions failed again that's why people was just like they're not messing with Acura TLS no more. And I was around a whole bunch of mechanics that was telling me about the torque converter burning up inside those transmission made people just not even want the cars anymore so by the time the 4th generation came out people were real skeptical on the car itself and the transmission not THE GRILL. the 4th generation is a monster car and if you do your research on every model that came out in 2009 if you look around the Acura TL 4th generation is still around while every other car is either in someone's yard or at a junkyard or not even on the road anymore
@@dentpullaCan you please elaborate more on your 4th gen models? The likes and dislikes please? I understand the 3.7 can have huge oil consumption issues. Has that been an issue with yours? Also, 3rd gen TL did have issues with their transmissions, I had to rebuild mine. But have read how the 07-08 received the transmission from the RL. Unfortunately the 07-08 MT only came in the Type S. Thanks
4g all day, I have a white 13, did a few things to it , and all I get is compliments and questions. Only had it 3 and half months. Beautiful sexy car after the right touches
Looks small, unassuming, and only good when it's the TLS. Drive the 4th Gen at night in a Black, Silver, or White color and that things looks baller. The proportions are weird but the back of it looks up to date with how wide it is. Front end can be fixed with an underbody spoiler or color match the grille.
I was gonna finance a 2011 TL but I saw a 08 for a really good deal cash price. Did not regret it! All TL are beautiful, everyone has different preference. Plus 3rd gen was my high school dream car, had to start somewhere.
@@quakerome4594 i financed a 2011 fwd back in November. Unfortunately I’ve put 20k on her she’s at 160k miles right now but she runs great and all I’ve had to do is oil change and rotors if I could trade in for a type S I would !!
Picked up the 2012 tech package. Never could find the Shawd. Paddle shifters are fun and seems like the 3.5 doesn’t have the oil consumption issues the 3.7’s have. Just hard to get the A Spec front lips😅

Does yours burn any oil? I see posts now days on this issue with the 4g so just asking.
The TL looks like a four-door NSX Acura
Just got into an accident one hour ago. Lady ran the light this car just save my live 🙏🏾 ❤️ thank you Acura
God bless, glad you alright 🙏🏽
The grille and rear of this car is what kinda sets it back tbh, I think acura peaked with their 3g TL design
I've said before, the 3G is timeless, slap some jewel eye looking lights on it, and it's a modern Acura
I do like their rear profile
I understand the grille opinion but personally I love the rear of 4th gens
3rd gen aspec manual is 100% epic ❤ mine unbelievable reliable as hell
