@@eman3414 I have had it for like 9 months I love it. Fast, smooth, reliable, durable I have the awd version. It’s also less expensive than other cars in the same category. I would recommend it.
As a car enthusiast, I take my 2012 Acura TL FWD with Tech Package autocrossing sometimes and sometimes the car can actually put down some pretty decent times considering how it is a heavy front wheel drive vehicle. Currently I have a progress 22mm rear sway bar installed on the rear with a stiffer setting to induce oversteer. My next plan is to put on some Enkei PF05s and Bridgestone Potenza Re71Rs.
Love your in depth reviews. I actually bought this car today and took this video into consideration. I love the look and interior of this car. Cheers 🎉
Great review! So many people criticize the looks but really this car was very well built and the engine performs and gives you years of dependability!! Plus the comfort is worth it.

Still to this day, my favorite Acura was the 3rd gen TL, especially the Type S. The new Type S is a contender to change that though. Can't wait to see the reviews.
Thank you SO much for this review. My next car will be a 2012-14 TL, probably the Tech or Advance package since the base doesn’t have a backup camera and that might be very helpful for such a big car. Currently I drive a 2011 Mazda3 iTouring which is great on gas but not too fun to drive lol. The TL will be my second car, and to be honest, I’ll probably keep both of them. I’ll have 2 cars hehe. Yep- Premium gas and keep on top of oil changes - only problem I had was at around 170K miles catalytic converter had to be replaced and two timing belts replaced - one at 93k another at 143k to be safe
Yea both are solid choices for sure 👍 I think if you value a little bit more of a fun to drive characteristic the TL might be your choice although ES can be fun in its own way but Lexus is a bit nicer and more plush but certainly try both!

Own a 2013 FWD Advance package with a 3.5L and purchased with single digits on the clock. Today is has 101,000 miles. It’s been flawless. One set of brakes, 4 sets of tires, timing belt/water pump, 3 batteries, and lots of smiles. Still really love this car 10 years later. The V6 rips when you smash the accelerator, the tranny shift hard because it’s a sports sedan. I’ve always loved it for what it is.

Wow, glad to know my BMW 2009 e93 328i aged better than a Honda product. No rattles on the dash, leather nice and elegant, inline 6 smooth and linear, hydraulic steering on point and engine bay as clean as can be. All of this with 137,566 miles on the clock to-date.
I’ve owned a 3g TL 6MT since 2016. I thought I’d keep it forever but now that I have to put 25,000+ miles on it per year for work, it’s starting to feel really small and cramped.. do you think the 4g TL would solve my problem?
I own a tl 2012 with the 3.5(no nav and no start button so I guess its a base just like yours so its lighter) and just a straight rock solid reliable daily driver.Plenty of power for daily driving and it handle great.
How is the cabin noise compared to the TLX? I have an 08 Accord with the 2.4 4 cylinder right now and I want to get a V6 next. The 6spd with SH-AWD is the unicorn of this model
I had 2014 TL w/ tech package with nav, it was very reliable. At around 94K, I did get 2 catalytic error codes. I regret selling it, I should have fix it though.
Good video. If you can try to get a shawd version of this vehicle. I would like to see your take on that one. I agree with the content. I also love the gauges in this TL as well, very nicely styled with a business approach.
You should review an 04-08 TSX that one had a proper double wishbone suspension. You gotta give it to Acura there bringing back double wishbone on the new TLX and the powertrains are solid.
Yes so I have driven the 04-08 TSX and it was phenomenal loved it. Yes I have a ton of respect for Acura for brining back a proper suspension set up looking forward to it thanks again for stopping by
Exhaust Sports Auto I love your reviews on recent mid-late 00’s sedans 200-300 HP classes. I feel years from now people will appreciate this era of balance of modern/analog feel.
Hey thanks again and yes I think cars like this will always be coveted as they are luxurious decently reliable and more than enough fun for street driving
I dont think so actually I def remember there was a lot of transmission issues with the third gen unfortunately. I believe these are better but definitely check the forums. I still recommend a warranty with this car
Pube83 the transmission reliability in this TL is light years more reliable than the previous 3rd gen. If you want a TL with a reliable and durable transmission, get the 4th gen. Although the 3rd gen TL transmission got reliable in 07 and 08 model years.
I know it has quick steering but how is the road feedback with the steering. Some say it is numb, only sh awd has great feedback. But others say its great.
I don't care what anybody says Acura Honda know what the f*** they are doing when it comes to building a vehicle I have a 2012 Acura TL and I mean that thing has 140,000 miles on it and it doesn't creak crack nothing it feels like you're in a brand new car the car is clean as hell love it love Acura
I had a 03 TL type S years ago and loved it got my wife 09 TL fwd and it wasn't that great I would recommend the sh awd the fwd had alot of torque steer when u hard accelerated and the interior quality was sub par compared to my lexus GS and Audi S6. Other than that its a good car plenty of room decent ride and good power but 3.7L is better IMO. I personally wasn't to keen on the 4 gen looks I actually rather had found a 3rd gen refreshed RL looks way better and is the same size car with sh-Awd....
I have a White on Umbra 2013 SH-AWD, Tech 80km - pristine condition. Done a few mods like 19x10 Vossen rims, RV6 J-Pipe and Magna-Flow mufflers. LED DRL, cool exterior mods.. Can't say enough about this car. With premium gas cheap now, parts everywhere, Good winter tires on the factory rims, Bluetooth, Rear Cam, Nav,.. If you can find a clean one with low KM.. Might be the best bang for the buck out there!
3.7 l V6 is they were having an oil consumption issue from what I was seeing and told that Acura was fixing them under warranty there's actually videos if you look them up on UA-cam but people that talk about having problems with the 3.7 the 3.5 l there's nothing wrong with that engine it was all the 3.7 l hope that helps
@@MeynMotorGroup I'm so excited to hear back from you having a super hard time deciding. The AWD with more mileage is actually about $1300 less. The cars are on Vroom so I can't test drive. Also scares the hell out of me cause you know they are out of warranty and it's really hard to tell how dependable they will be. Right now I drive a 2006 Accord V-6 with 167,000 miles that I still really love, but want to pass down to my son for his first car. I want something that's at least as fun to drive if not more though...something I can depend on but also quicken my blood a bit at times. Do you feel like the TL is as reliable as the Accord and is the lost fuel economy worth it do you think?
@@MeynMotorGroup darn I was hoping you wouldn't say that. The selection here in Montana sucks! Everything here is several thousand more and never available with the options I want. And of course theirs no way you're going to find a TL here or even a Mazda3 with the 2.5 liter. Finding something half way exciting here with a decent price and the options you want is impossible. Thanks for getting back to me though. I'm thinking about taking a chance still on the Vroom TL SH-AWD still. It's priced at like $14,700 and Vroom warranties for 3 months. Shouldn't I notice any problems by then and be able to get them fixed on their dime?
I dislike Honda BUT I almost bought one of these! The TL is the only Honda product that really calls my attention. Settled on a 2010 ES 350 instead because it was $3k cheaper
I actually used to but I never do that anymore because that number is truly pointless. I've come to understand specs are not the correct way to critique vehicles but instead judge cars by how they truly feel to drive and specs just can't explain how a car truly feels. Plenty of slow cars I enjoy driving. And specs can always be found on the manufacturer website
@@MeynMotorGroup Well my '05 Accord Hybrid has it, the '08-'12 Accords had it too. I suspect the TL's didn't have it because they tend to be more sporty and get less mileage than a similar V-6 Accord. I do know the VCM causes some issues though.
280 HP is plenty of power for a car back in 2014. Definitely a healthy amount of power, since this one is the FWD version. And the fact that it is lighter than the SH-AWD version, it will definitely feel lighter on its feet. Sure you could go up to the SH-AWD TL with that 3.7L V6 with 305 HP, but 280 HP is a perfect amount of power for a car like this. Plus having 6 gears in the transmission means that it is a bit widely spaced, but it is responsive, and hunts for gears less. 6 speeds I feel are enough gears for a transmission. Honda and Acura just know how to make a fun driving car that is FWD, but then it doesn't really feel like FWD when you chuck it around corners. Great chassis and great driving experience, despite the fact that this car is basically a Honda Accord underneath, but Acura can just take a Honda vehicle and make it truly great for driving.
Always a fan of the big body TL only thing is I live in the bronx 😫😫😫 serious theft on anything the acura or Honda vehicles.... don't wanna come out to this beauty on bricks all for my stock wheels to be shoved on an older model of someone else's, beautifull looking car tho never drove it
Dont disrespect my Ac tl gen 4. Of course it is real leather, in fact its milano leather thank you lol unlike the e350 benz of this era which has imitation leather if not opt for real

@@romanmichaelable thanks
Wow, glad to know my BMW 2009 e93 328i aged better than a Honda product. No rattles on the dash, leather nice and elegant, inline 6 smooth and linear, hydraulic steering on point and engine bay as clean as can be. All of this with 137,566 miles on the clock to-date.
I’ve owned a 3g TL 6MT since 2016. I thought I’d keep it forever but now that I have to put 25,000+ miles on it per year for work, it’s starting to feel really small and cramped.. do you think the 4g TL would solve my problem?
yes, it’s a lot more spacious on the interior as compared to the 3rd generation, more trunk space as well.
Are you able to play music from your phone through the sound system ?
I own a tl 2012 with the 3.5(no nav and no start button so I guess its a base just like yours so its lighter) and just a straight rock solid reliable daily driver.Plenty of power for daily driving and it handle great.
Mine is black with umber interior. Super cool and comfortable and reliable
How is the cabin noise compared to the TLX? I have an 08 Accord with the 2.4 4 cylinder right now and I want to get a V6 next. The 6spd with SH-AWD is the unicorn of this model
Yea the TLX is quiter overall but the two cars ride about the same, I like the way the TL drives better
In my opinion the TL is the nicest looking car on the road. Why in the world Acura discontinued is insane to me. I’d buy another in a heartbeat
Well, it's still here as the TLX. It never went away entirely. Sadly, no more V6. Everything is turbo powered these days....
I have the 13 sh-awd advanced model. Love it so far.
Great car enjoy it!
I had 2014 TL w/ tech package with nav, it was very reliable. At around 94K, I did get 2 catalytic error codes. I regret selling it, I should have fix it though.
Yea it certainly is a nice ride, what did you end up getting afterwards?
@@MeynMotorGroup yes, it was a very good car. I have a '20 GS 350 F Sport now. Great video on that also.
Nice that is awesome great choice for sure enjoy my friend
@@netman88 lucky man ! Congrats on your car they are beautiful I have a 2013 gs350 f sport I love it
I'm looking forward to buying A 4gTL soon.
I own a 2013 AWD Tech. Currently has 90k and just a fantastic car
As always an excellent review 👏 👌 👍
Do u have a video on the 2018-2019 TLX? And what yr would you choose?
My 2012 6spd has 240K and still makes me smile
Good video. If you can try to get a shawd version of this vehicle. I would like to see your take on that one. I agree with the content. I also love the gauges in this TL as well, very nicely styled with a business approach.
Thanks so much my friend and yes will try to review an super handling awd version as well. Really appreciate your support
This is my car with AWD.Am trading it in for the Stinger. Mine has only 75,000miles.
Nice hopefully you test drove the stinger and really like it. I prefer the G70 and G80 Genesis cars to the Stinger but as long as you are happy
Do the transmissions fail in these as quick as they did in the previous gen?
I dont think so actually I def remember there was a lot of transmission issues with the third gen unfortunately. I believe these are better but definitely check the forums. I still recommend a warranty with this car
Pube83 the transmission reliability in this TL is light years more reliable than the previous 3rd gen. If you want a TL with a reliable and durable transmission, get the 4th gen. Although the 3rd gen TL transmission got reliable in 07 and 08 model years.
Nice and also great to know there are manual options for both albeit a rare option
@@ajevthetruthisthetruthnotc8390 does the 4 gen have a good Tran cooler ?
do you know anything about the excessive oil consumption with the 4th gen SH AWD models?
There probably is which is why I recommend a warranty but doesn't happen to every car some people get a lot of miles out of their Acuras
I have a 15 rdx and it also drives like it’s a lot smaller and handles super good
This car looks great in white/off white color
Ysa I really like the look for sure
Exhaust Sports Auto yes, and I like the look of this than the TLX, the A-spec makes the TLx look better tho
Great overview Kevin. The car looks like a Nissan Maxima from a distance. Regardless, I do like it's masculine lines.
I'm buying a 2014 TL special edition with 84k miles tomorrow fr just under 13k.
How u like it do far should I get one
@@vesquivel16 they sold it the day before I got there.
@@ruru_esco .. That's fuk up bro. I hope that you are in search for another TL
Damn that’s a pretty good damn deal sucks they sold it I don’t blame I bet they had tons of people tryna buy it lol
I know it has quick steering but how is the road feedback with the steering. Some say it is numb, only sh awd has great feedback. But others say its great.
My car has a backup camera and nav system. I have the front wheel drive version like this one. Other than that, they are the same.
I own a 2009 tl very nice car runs great
Do these TL have common transmission issues like the 3rd gen (2004-2008) have ?
Gotta get behind the wheel of a 07-08 TL Type s 6mt completely different car from the regular 3rd generation TL.
I really want to but where can I find one lol nobody sells their Type S manuals haha
This car is beautiful
I agree!
Thinking about getting a TL or a v6 accord Coupé
I had a 03 TL type S years ago and loved it got my wife 09 TL fwd and it wasn't that great I would recommend the sh awd the fwd had alot of torque steer when u hard accelerated and the interior quality was sub par compared to my lexus GS and Audi S6. Other than that its a good car plenty of room decent ride and good power but 3.7L is better IMO. I personally wasn't to keen on the 4 gen looks I actually rather had found a 3rd gen refreshed RL looks way better and is the same size car with sh-Awd....
Hey COULD YOU DO THE SH AWD w/ ADVANCE PKGE version of this car .. ???
If I can find one 😆
@@MeynMotorGroup I believe in you homie 😂😂🤟🏾🤟🏾
A 2014 SH AWD w/ Advance package
I have a White on Umbra 2013 SH-AWD, Tech 80km - pristine condition. Done a few mods like 19x10 Vossen rims, RV6 J-Pipe and Magna-Flow mufflers. LED DRL, cool exterior mods.. Can't say enough about this car. With premium gas cheap now, parts everywhere, Good winter tires on the factory rims, Bluetooth, Rear Cam, Nav,.. If you can find a clean one with low KM.. Might be the best bang for the buck out there!
That's gorgeous!
I'd love to find the V6 (2012-2014) in a manual ...
Yea that would be awesome
i have a 2014 TL 3.7 and i’m burning oil, positive i’m not leaking. i only have 84k miles on it now!
Price being about the same, would you guys be more interested in 2012 SH-AWD (60,000 miles) or a 2013 FWD (37,000 miles)?
Hmm that is close to half the miles and a year newer...tough choice I may go with that but AWD is epic perhaps negotiate a deep discount on it
@@MeynMotorGroup I'm so excited to hear back from you having a super hard time deciding.
@@wshoemabillings8864 yea I would skip anything you can't see or drive. Better to buy from a reputable dealer and get a nice warranty
Shouldn't I notice any problems by then and be able to get them fixed on their dime?
also your reviews are the best!
At 5k rpm sounds beautiful
Great vid
I need this in a 6 speed manual transmission
I dislike Honda BUT I almost bought one of these! The TL is the only Honda product that really calls my attention. Settled on a 2010 ES 350 instead because it was $3k cheaper
Yea the TL is a great ride but congrats on the ES!
I just bought one should I be using premium or regular fuel
premium
Can u start doing 0-60 tests in the vehicles?
I actually used to but I never do that anymore because that number is truly pointless. I've come to understand specs are not the correct way to critique vehicles but instead judge cars by how they truly feel to drive and specs just can't explain how a car truly feels.
Plenty of slow cars I enjoy driving. And specs can always be found on the manufacturer website
Exhaust Sports Auto still make the hardest reviews
My next car but I want the SH AWD
DC5xGreddy Gamer Do it! I just got a ‘12 TL SH-AWD Advance, and I love it.
Fantastic cars
2010 Acura TL or 2010 Lexus ES350?
Depends on what you're looking for, more plush experience or better driving experience
Are these known for transmission issues?
"Turn signal loud as hell"🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Lol 😆 glad you liked that
Do these have the VCM like Accord V-6's
I dont think so I think thats some earth dreams crap they added after 2013 in the accords but double check me on that
@@MeynMotorGroup Well my '05 Accord Hybrid has it, the '08-'12 Accords had it too. I suspect the TL's didn't have it because they tend to be more sporty and get less mileage than a similar V-6 Accord. I do know the VCM causes some issues though.
No vcm
$11k, and now they're 17. SMH
Always a fan of the big body TL only thing is I live in the bronx 😫😫😫 serious theft on anything the acura or Honda vehicles.... don't wanna come out to this beauty on bricks all for my stock wheels to be shoved on an older model of someone else's, beautifull looking car tho never drove it
Yooo I really be seeing older cars with the new rims that’s funny
Just bought one
Massive congrats my friend such a great car!
I think the AWD was only offered with the 3.7 V6 and the HP was 300.
Might be
Do you have problem with your transmission mine is really jerky
Not that I noticed know this test car anyway was surprisingly smooth at 111k miles
There is a software update for transmission go to dealer and make them update the software.
mustnoor thanks i will ask acura
What are the most common problems with this car ?
Oil consumption VTC Actuator some other annoyances typical used car stuff
@@MeynMotorGroup Are there any warning signs of the EPS going out ? Seems really dangerous when it goes out !
3rd gen looks way better and more modern
I do love the looks of the 3rd gen it is very clean
@james 699 Agreed
Kobemikes I disagree while the 3rd gen did look good, I don't think its aging as well as the 4th gen. The 4th gen actually looks more modern.
@@ajevthetruthisthetruthnotc8390 facts . . 3rd gen has more racer vibes , but 4th gen comes off more as everyday elegance .
does anyone elses tl shift a ltitle hard on gear 3 and 4? just like you can feel it?
Dont disrespect my Ac tl gen 4. Of course it is real leather, in fact its milano leather thank you lol unlike the e350 benz of this era which has imitation leather if not opt for real
👍
Appreciate it sir!
That tank is bullet proof . Hidden gem for a used car
I agree! Such a used car gem!
And now most honda products have a shield grill.
