Thanks for the useful video! It should have a million views as it relates to anyone with difficulties in staying centered, motivated, clear-minded and focused, connected with their bodies and stimula. Great work, thanks for sharing!
Outstanding practical and relatable video with fantastic delivery skills. I am researching this subject to better understand someone dear to me who like many may have this invisible underlying response to lifes challenges. Maybe me too😊Thank you so much
Long time trying to understand my patients with a variety of Somatoform disorders (I work in Emergency). The role of interoception in all of this brilliantly explained in your video. Thank You. Brendan McCann Ireland
Fianlly, Someone is not just repeating the social engagement repair thing. Thank you so much for expressing the disembodiment trauma inflicted, what was ultimately stolen from the victim, so they may gradually find their way back to that fenominal experience of being alive. Looking forward to your other videos Jess
So glad it helped explain it - we have some further training (free and paid) available on our website - www.jessicamaguire.com if you are ready to learn more.
Thank you for bringing awareness to interoception! What are your views on the brain as a "prediction machine" and the work of Lisa Feldman Barrett, Sarah Garfinkel, Hugo Critchley, and Anil Seth in relation to interoception?
Question: I forgot. Good talk. I'll try another... thanks. Oh, yeah. I'm a Recovering alcoholic/ addict archetype if you will. I'm thinking about this numbing concept and have heard it many times in the 12 step community. Able to lay down every drug, vices and all the alcohol in the world I'm managing to continue to hold onto smoking. I ask myself what's the payoff? Surely if there isn't a reward I wouldn't continue to smoke. I'll even go as far as to say that I must be in some form of denial. How else can I justify smoking cigarettes (which is self destructive behavior) this is what my therapist and I discussed yesterday. I also have a psychiatrist. Not much going on, however well there is much going on. It's vagus nerve connected. Parasympathetic and sympathetic, both of which are still words to me. I am my own Alchemist. Thank you for sharing. I'll catch up with myself shortly. Gonna watch another...
Hope it’s going well for you Brent. I’m finally off the cigs after decades of trying very hard to quit, more times than I can remember. After all those attempts and fails, I realised I was using cigarettes as a practical tool to help me sooth my nervous system. For many years I was a chronic chain-smoker and very near used them as oxygen - literally to help me breathe.. the irony, right 😂 After doing a lot of nervous system work over the last few years, I’m off them for good. The difference this time is I don’t feel the desperate need to rush for them whenever I feel overwhelmed or under pressure (which is still very regular but diminishing as I progress) and this time Im absolutely certain I won’t go back. I couldn’t have done it without calming my nervous system down first. It’s not a quick easy fix, but it’s the most worthwhile thing I’ve ever strived for. Polyvagal Theory has been a game-changer for me. Wishing you the best in your search for peace ❤

I'm not sure about interoception and where to find clues on how to do it, though. Is that in your website?
Excellent video Jessica. A lot of great ideas condensed into a short video. Thanks so much for sharing.

@@brentbaity7536 Def on the right track, my friend. Go well x
Another great video!
I have a question about dis regulation.
Can the nervous system tell the difference between a physical threat, and moral guilt?
a threat is perceived, whether its being fearful of being humiliated in public, or being chased by a tiger, or someone with a gun
Thank you so much for the reply! I’m interested in the nervous system, and your videos have struck me as very professional! Keep up the great work!
@@morganpeace6867 Thanks for that lovely feedback.
You are very pretty😅
Informative video and you're very attractive.
