Emotional Regulation In Your Relationships: Understanding Biological Rudeness
Переглядів 5358 місяців тому
You’re created for connection and your nervous system is highly tuned to the threat of disconnection. When you’re spending time with others you may have moments of relational disconnect, called “biological rudeness”. These moments can be triggered by ordinary events: your partner checking their phone while you’re talking. Your friend becomes distracted by something else going on in the room whi...

Outstanding practical and relatable video with fantastic delivery skills. I am researching this subject to better understand someone dear to me who like many may have this invisible underlying response to lifes challenges. Maybe me too😊Thank you so much
I'm so glad this was helpful to you.
What if the trauma is not just in the past, but still in the present. Medical induced trauma is real, but I wish practitioners would also consider the impact of chronic illness induced trauma. How does a person deal with an ongoing threat that is in their own body?
Chronic illness is most definitely not addressed enough in the current medical field. We discuss the effects of chronic illness and how to understand, navigate and support our nervous system in relation to these symptoms within our Vagus Nerve Program.
Which came first? It makes sense how a dysfunctional nervous system can cause GI tract dysfunction, but since the vagus nerve communicates back and forth with the brain, I think GI tract dysfunction can cause nervous system dysfunction. I think the vagus nerve is like a guitar string. When you have chronic GI dysfunction, it’s like plucking the string in your gut, and the vibration is felt all the way up to the brain, through every organ that the vagus nerve innervates.
As there is a two-way communication loop, both can affect one another most definitely.
Greetings from Hunedoara, Romania. Congratulations! I'm Erwin, and when the weather changes, that's when my end comes..., in other words, I feel the sudden change in temperature, from cold to warm and vice versa, like fog, I can anticipate the weather forecast through intercostal neuralgic pains. I want to write to you that I had a respiratory virus when I was 20 years old, but as a small child I had "nerves in my stomach", as I explain in a simplified way that anyone can understand. I would like to ask you what you think happens when the weather changes, because only when the weather changes do I have these manifestations, mood changes, anxiety, palpitations, even from the wind blowing irregularly. Do you think it's about the autonomic nervous system, sympathetic/parasympathetic, only, or also the vagus nerve, and what exercises would you recommend?! Thank you very much. With respect and honest friendship, Erwin. 🤗
Thank you so much for validating my experience..i couldnt find info on this anywhere
You are so welcome
Been anxious and depressed for more than 1.5 years.. lost some weight.. loose stool. But then a little more than 3 weeks ago bloating started.. more abdominal cramps and other symptoms.. as i have a past where i have been exposed to radioation on my gut i am scared that it is a form of cancer.. i have not detected invisible blood in stool so i rule out colon cancer.. but the large feementation in the gut could be a sign of deadly pancreatic cancer. But i have had major anxiety the last 2 weeks as to needing a pill to lower anxiety before sleep. Can't function around my kids.due to dark thoughs on my healrh
Me I had and now have again the same symptoms. Please get a colonoscopy (not sure it’s the right word in English). When they took pictures of my gut, they found out, no IBS, no cancer, no food sensitivities, but indeed a bacterial overgrowth in my gut. I guess it comes from years of anxiety and depression. When I took a long break of certain food and prioritized my mental health, it finally got 100% better. Now all the symptoms actually came back and I now know it’s my body signaling me to ground myself and take a step back. But please get an appointment, to rule out anything worse, so you can finally concentrate on your well-being.
@@OohLa118hope you doing good But this maybe happen due to your chronic anxiety even i also faces this problem.
Would be helpful if theres a how to do .. series for everything you teach. It'll help a lot of us. Thank you❤
Thank you for your kind words. We go in to great detail with practical tools within our Vagus Nerve Program.
Jessica, your content is excellent and the work you are doing is really important, but why do you never post your references? As a clinician, I need to be able to access the research directly, otherwise I can't justify a change in practice. I've yet to see a reference in any of your work and I've been following you for ages. Not a criticism just a sincere request! All the best.
I’m a victim of grease 3 diffuse axonal injury. My entire left side is hypersensitive. That includes my left arm, hand, leg, and entire face. I’m doing the desensitization on several parts of my body and it’s been 2 weeks
Are there methods I can learn that are FREE, I don't mind spending money, but I don't have much to live on-- and am overwhelmed - not dealing with grief - anxious depressed digestive and overall health gut issues struggling.
I now understand more about my extreme or no emotion states and my thinking processes as autistic person without interoception - including hunger, thirst or toilet needs not registered by brain. Thanks 👍
So pleased that this resonated with you and was helpful in your understanding.
I've noticed over the past two years my guts been getting worse as my stress has increased. I'm now pooping about 6-8 times a day. Often wet poops, sometimes very loud wet farts, and occasionally fairly hard poops. But mostly wet . I've also been getting restless leg alot and tummy cramps after pooping.
Hi! Thanks for sharing ! Do you get lots of noises in the belly / abdomen ? I’ve Ben dealing with stomach issues since January , now I’m on day 2 of antidepressants hopefully this will help
Somatic excercises worked for me ❤
Like what? I would like to try. I’m at the end of my rope
@@cereal_qilla I know how frustrating it can be. I took my online courses with The Workout Witch. You can find some free stuff on her page but her courses are very affordable. The release your trauma and stress one especially before bed helped my gut issues. Also hydrating with sea salt and including cabbage, saurkeaut and Broccoli sprouts to my daily diet. Hope this helps 🙏
We use many bottom-up - body (somatic) exercises within the Program. Bioplasticity Resources are key. So please to hear that you have found practices that attune to you.
I need a list of things I can do to fix this. Wonderful video!
Even the dialects that people speak make a difference. Even as I (native speaker of American English) listen to you, I can feel that I feel less safe due to your different cadence, accent, and pronunciation. That is something to be aware of. This is important to note when you look for a psychotherapist as well as friends and partners. Thank you for this video for bringing awareness.
And how to overcome that?
This video was amazing, so well explained and helpful
have you ever helped anyone with gastroparesis

We gets it. Exercise stay healthy.
When you meditate, you sharpen and heighten awareness. This uncovers everything that you always had running in the background. For example, you always felt anxiety..but can distract yourself or numb it.Not really seeing it clearly. This is very uncomfortable when it arises. But what it shows me is what type of baggage i am carrying. In my case its fear, anger and trauma, negativity. So inchange ny meditation to heart practice like loving kindness or compassion or being positive or wholesome.Meditate with beautiful colours.Things that directly oppose those mind states.Ever since i practice metta the discomfort is managable. If you really want to practice focused awareness meditation like the breath then you need to go into a "protective environment" like a silent retreat with skilled teachers...make sure to exercise or do yoga to integrate the excess energy..meditation is powerful purification of the mind tool..it comoletely wiped out my inner narration..no random thoughts arise in my mind..empty mind.Very powerful..but it cost me a lot of perservering and silent retreat at home...
