DUDE!!! I was literally online researching pump replacements for this model of pressure washer, as I had left it out in the New England winter in my shed without "treatment". Thanks a lot, saved me 💰💰 and a trip to the repair shop , and headache, took me only 3 minutes to fix my Ryobi pressure washer with honda engine after watching this video, the only video on UA-cam that helped me in my situation. Thanks again
GREAT VIDEO.. Thanks for taking the time to share your knowledge.. 🤓 From experience with other pressure washer Unloader Valves (UV), I have found that some can get extremely tight in the pump head.. After you remove the Staple / Clip, start the pressure washer and cycle the wand trigger a few times and the pressure will pop the UV right out.. It will pop out and fly 2-3 feet, aim it away from people and property you don’t want damaged.. I place a 5 gallon bucket on the side to catch them.) A pair of vise grips and a small slide hammer works on the really tight ones.. (Chlorinated or hard water is the enemy of a UV, they get stuck from mineral buildup as they dry out!!) ALWAYS check the O-Rings for cracks and then lube the UV with a SILICONE grease.. (Swimming pool type silicone O-Ring lube) Do NOT use petroleum based grease, it swells the O-Rings and makes more work for you if you need to clean the UV again in the future.. Also, when properly lubed the UV will slide right into the pump head without hammering on it and risking damage to the threads.. A light tap with a soft hammer or screwdriver handle works.. To simplify getting the staple fastener back in, grind / file the tips on the legs to a 45 degree angle and the wedge shape will slide in 200% easier than the original blunt end.. (Beveled side toward pump on install!!)
I have a basically NEW / one year old unit that sat; now that UV is STUCK/corroded in place; I soaked it with AeroKroil Penetrating Oil tonight and will recheck it tomorrow using your tips to use unit pressure to help force valve out. That's slick; thanks a MILLION

Thank you so very much!! My neighbor actually just gave me this washer and I just did your fix and it works GREAT now!! What a day, free 3 year old pressure washer (he only used it twice!!) and a free fix!!
If you get no pressure and it sprays a stream of water without the pump engaging, check the filter first. It is located on the water intake. Mine was 1/2 inch deep plugged with calcium.
Add me to the list. I had no pressure at all. I came in to do a quick search before I pulled the pump off and found your video. I didn't realize I had left the water on so when I pulled the pin and started to use the screwdriver to help pull it out, it came flying out with the water pressure. Like yours, the pin had free movement when I picked it 30' away. I put it back in and all is well. Appreciate you sharing this information.
THANK YOU! THANK YOU! THANK YOU! I was about ready to head to home depot to buy another one even though I've only used this pressure washer less than 5 times over the past years. It worked!
This did the trick for me. Thnx. I had a real difficult time getting the pressure valve out even when using the idea a fellow had for taking the horseshoe pin out and exercising the wand a few times. A buddy up the street, who is a known handy man, came up with an idea that worked well. We pulled off the spring, washer and nut. Then we put a few washers over the threaded pin that were pretty big and fit nicely over the pressure valve housing. Then we found a nut that had the same thread pattern but was fairly large and started to cinch it down on top of the big washer. The effect was the same as pulling back on the valve. It didn't come out easily, but it finally gave up. Cleaned the valve and the housing area, reassembled the system and she ran great.
This pressure valve removal is a bear! Instead, use a 1/2" box wrench and another box wrench for leverage under the larger nut. No washers or spare parts are needed. 3 hammer taps later and the unloaded pin is out!
@@DIYAlliedwhere can I get the ball bearing that goes in front of the unloader valve. I did all this before & forgot to put the pin back to hold the unloader valve in place. After I started the engine the ball bearing & unloader valve flew away & still can't find the bearing nowhere Please help.

Good afternoon -- I would like some advice and an explanation if you have time -- what exactly is that valve for and how is it regulated / adjusted / many thanks
The valves purpose is the allow water into the pump until the required pressure is created. Once the pressure is sufficient the valve closes and the water is diverted to recirculation until more water/pressure is needed. It is possible to tighten the nut/spring to create more pressure before it is recirculated but it is not recommended. To much pressure can lead to catastrophic failure of the pump or hose. The valve is set to the correct tension/pressure, from the fctory, for general applications on these machines.

Thank you for your very useful video. I was able to rectify this problem in 5 minutes. Can you suggest any product that we can use in the winter to obviate this problem?
As far as I understand this problem it is caused by grit or sand that jams the unloader valve. At least that was the cause for me. I have heard that RV antifreeze can prevent the pump from freezing and ultimately cracking the housing when storing it for the winter. I'm glad to hear that you fixed the problem quickly. Thanks for watching and commenting. Best of luck to you.
I have one new out of the box and no water comes out even with no pressure hose hooked up and engine is off. Pulled this device out and looks fine, plunger works, but no water will come out the port where the gun hooks up to. Hose valve has plenty of city pressure and only 25ft hose.
No, I really don't know what the issue is, new pump that is bad maybe? I'm calling Snapper support tomorrow, just bought it about 40 days ago at menards, so I'll have to take it in somewhere, it's under warranty.
Thank You for this video, you made my day! My other hobby is guitar repair. I took the brass end of my fretting hammer (light, mostly rubber plastic hammer) and tapped the valve housing. Came to life on the second try.
I cannot remove the value from the pump. I tried your way and used WD-40. Also used pliers, but I'm afraid I might brake the valve while doing it. Is there another way to remove it?
Unfortunately I don't know another way to remove it. They can be very stubborn. The product Liquid wrench works pretty well also. I wish you the best of luck.
Thank you so much!! This helped me out so much! Do you know, do I have to continue to remove this piece to keep the pressure? The pressure stayed on for about 2 hours and then it stopped. Thanks!
Usually what causes this problem is grit or sand in the water. Sometimes it gets in when you hook up the hose. Sometimes if you are using well water the pump can draw a small amount of sand from the bottom of well.
I've got a brand-new 3600 psi Honda GX200 pressure washer that is giving me half pressure brand new when pressing the trigger on the gun put an operation I'm only getting 1900 PSI no matter what nozzle I use when i release the trigger the idle head pressure builds to 4200 PSI and then settles at 4000 psi the unloader adjustment cap was missing that is normally on the screw and the screw itself was slightly bent. Store i bought the machine from wouldn't let me return it as soon as they knew I had already put oil and fuel in it to use it. Fortunately Simpson or rather FNA group seems to think i have a faulty unloader valve and it is bypassing even when I press the trigger on the wand causing me to have low operation pressure so they are sending me a new unloader. Hopefully that solves my issue.
My pressure washer just started sputtering, the reason I'm here. My pressure washer has only been used a handful of times and I saw the pressure valve on it but never paid it any attention. It has a clear cover on it. After popping it off and pushing in on it like you did, it seemed to be fine on every push like it was never stuck. I put it back on, put the cover back on and cranked it back up. Still getting that sputter/no/low pressure thing happening. I was watching the valve as I pulled the wand trigger and noticed it moving in and out as I pulled the trigger. Should I see that piece or parts of that piece move?
That's a good question as I have never watched it in action. I assume since it has a spring in the back it would move, but I'm not sure. The engine is sputtering and you have no pressure?
@@DIYAllied The engine runs great, it's something in the pressure mechanisms that's the issue. The engine runs smooth when I pull the trigger and when it's just idling. I'll video it for you in a little bit so you can see what I'm talking about. I'll put the link here. Thanks for replying. :)
It could be. The first time I had a pump "failure" was due to loose bolts that allowed for play in the junction between the engine and the pump. Ultimately the pump lost most of its pressure because the shaft was slipping in the pump housing. In that case, I had no choice but to buy and new pump. Good luck and thanks for commenting.
I have this type pressure washer with the spring unloader valve. Thee unloader valve moves and I sprayed it with white lithium grease. I have checked absolutely everything I can think of but I still do not get pressure when I engage the wand. Do those types of unloader valves need adjusting?
Make sure to remove all the air from the hose and pump by letting the water run through before you start it. It will not build pressure if there is air in the system. It is possible that if it froze that the valves have broken.
Thank you for your video. When I turned on the house water, the water go to the low pressure side and start shooting out of the soap tank. Pulling the wand trigger doesn't help and only a trickle of water comes out of the wand. I figure it must be to UV so I remove the clip and start prying on the spring. Didn't budge. I sprayed wd40 on it and let it sit. Still stuck. I put some vice grips on i the spring area and tried to rock it. No movement. I tapped on with a hammer and sprayed more wd40 but no luck. It feels solid. Ideas?
Thanks for watching a commenting. If you have the same model and pump, that unloader cable should come out. They have a tendency to rust tight if they have been in there a while. I'm not sure why you would have water coming into the soap tank. Kinda sounds like maybe one of the internal valves maybe stuck.
I'd make sure the intake screen is clean, could possibly be a clogged tip or it could be the wrong tip. The blue tip is the soap tip and has very little pressure.
I have a Craftsman 580.768350, it's a Honda GCV160 with 4 small chemical containers. It's dripping water underneath through the brass part below the pump, and when it starts it has some pressure for a second, and when i pull the trigger, off goes the pressure. It doesn't have that spring part visible like in your video. Do you have any suggestions Sir?
Is it possible that it froze in storage? If so you could have big problems with the pump. Luckily they are easily replaced and fairly inexpensive. Happened to me once years ago, was leaking water in the same place yours is. Turned out the pump housing was cracked.
@@waltercardenas7354 It could be the pump, especially if it froze. Make sure you arent using the blue tip as that is the soap tip and wont provide any pressure.
Hi my gc190 has a problem its like beep beep if you pull the trigger i have checked everything but it look alright tho.. any idea why its acting like that? change oil done too
No. Not really. It's best not to risk damage to the pump and yourself by making big adjustments to the tension on that spring for minimal pressure increase.
Thanks!

mine doesn't run the water through the pump at all (engine off). is that unloader valve the cause?
I have a honda pressure washer with the same engine as the one in your video but I put it in run mode and it turns off whatever you think it is
It worked for me. Thanks!
You are welcome
My pump lost most of its pressure. It’s making a bit of a new noise. I checked this and seems that it freely moves. Assuming I have a bad pump then?
I have exactly same problem
@@glock-hm3ro hey, great name. I kind of prefer my nine and 45 millimeter over the 40’s but hey to each their own.
Thanks for above. If no pressure after aove where to nex?
I'd make sure the intake screen is clean, could possibly be a clogged tip or it could be the wrong tip. The blue tip is the soap tip and has very little pressure.
What should I do if I can’t for the life of me get the black plastic part off?
Thanks man ! Saved me a bunch ! Where can I send you $50 for the save !
Hey no problem sir. Glad I could help.
Thanks for tip. It's work for me.
You are welcome
Where can I purchase this item? Thanks Good video
You can find them on amazon or ebay.
What if is not the unloader valve? Water comes out but no pressure. By the way thanks for the respond.
@@waltercardenas7354 It could be the pump, especially if it froze. Make sure you arent using the blue tip as that is the soap tip and wont provide any pressure.
Hi my gc190 has a problem its like beep beep if you pull the trigger i have checked everything but it look alright tho.. any idea why its acting like that? change oil done too
I'm not sure on that.
I'm gonna try it. Thanks in advance.
Hi can I spray wd 40 on stuck valve stem?
Yes
I have the same engine on my pressure washer but I can’t find where the thing id
I lost pressure I removed the valve it was fine. Nothing stuck. Put it back and still no pressure
My powerstroke lost some pressure. I try to put out de Valve but it's hard AND I'm afraid broke it. If do some strong movement Woud i broke?
Possibly but they are pretty durable. They are not to expensive.
Yes. Not expensive. But I'm outside usa. I'm living in Cartagena de indias. Colombia south América. That replacement are very hard to fine here.
May i send you a little video Washing a old Toyota? Only using red 0 fitting My WSP 3046757660.
What else could it be if the valve isn't the issue?
Clogged inlet screen, air in the hose or pump, wrong (soap)tip.
Great angle to view repair. Awesome thanks. I just subscribed
Thank you. I'm glad it helped. Thanks for subscribing.
Hi can you adjust theses valves for more pressure thank you
No. Not really. It's best not to risk damage to the pump and yourself by making big adjustments to the tension on that spring for minimal pressure increase.

What if you can't get the unloader valve out? Seems to be fused and won't come out.
They can be very difficult to remove
Thanks a lot!! It solved the problem

Thanks for the great video.... This is just what I needed to fix my power washer 🙂
That's awesome. Glad it helped.
