    I was wondering about selling my sony a7ii as I haven't used it in about a year but this video made me realize I have sentimental value towards it. It is my first and only full-frame camera since 2015! Great video and keep up the amazing content.

      I’m on the same boat as you. I got my A7ii in 2019 and was my first full frame camera too. Even though it doesn’t have all of the latest tech and features it still packs a punch

    Got mine for $350 about 1 year ago. Also got the Tamron 28-75mm F/2.8 Di III VXD G2. Great combo!

    I started with this camera until the back screen broke. It has gotten me some of my favourite photos I've taken

    Great video! I have an a7ii as well. It’s been the camera I’ve grown so much with. Been thinking about upgrading as well for a better battery life and smaller package.

      Thank you! I can relate to the growth stage 100%! The A7C will be a great continuity I guess.

    I had one, too. It was my first full frame. Now I use a 7R III which is great, but nevertheless I always miss my 7 II. It was limited in certain aspects, but I took some of my very best shots with it. It helped me to work my way deeper into some topics and to max out my results with what I have. If the 1080 footage would not have been so heavily influenced by Moire, I would probably still use it, but the lack of resolution for video and the not always good 1080 were really a down for me over time.
    However, I would recommend this camera for everybody who is primarily after photos .. it’s old now, but the images look still great. And in the end it doesn’t matter how many AF points there are or what the score for low light in some tests might be. It’s very capable if you are. 😊

      Exactly this. This camera has elevated my works and it`s limitations had to be replaced with creativity and through all this my photography process went through many changes. I learned what I want and what I don`t want with my photography using this camera and I will always recommend it for beginners who want to enter full frame world. Well at least when it`s still available brand new for great value.

      @@DigitalRetro You're absolutely right. In Germany I saw it recently for 699€. That's really a good price/value, I would recommend it for beginners, too, with no hesitation. You can really grow with it if you want to work yourself into using a real camera, plus you already have most of the newer features that really help while not having to pay for latest and greatest stuff which I personally don't need most of the time. "Point and shoot" people, however, are not the right people to use this. :D
      Concerning video, I have always found it to be a good fix to either use longer lenses/focal lengths or just get closer to your subject, then it's quite okay. If you do wide shots with a lot of fine detail in them (like in nature), that's where you will notice the weak spot no matter what you do. It is really a pity that they programmed it so poorly in terms of sensor readout. Line skipping for 1080 just doesn't give good results. I wish they had done something like they did with the A7 IV, where you get full pixel readout for 1080 in crop mode, even though it would only be available at 24/25 fps. That would have made it even more durable as a hybrid. Strange because the A7 II has the same image processor as the A7 III (BIONZ X CXD4236)- and that can read out the full sensor for 4K video.
      PS. Correction on your video at 2:10 - it does have Slog 2. ;) even though the base ISO is 1600 :D

    Only thing about the c i'd warn is if you ever need to shoot wide open on fast glass the 4k shutter speed is a pain

    • @DigitalRetro
      @DigitalRetro  9 місяців тому +1

      You mean the problem with the rolling shutter? Otherwise the shutter with ND filter shouldnt be a problem?

      @@DigitalRetro omg i didnt see this reply, not the rolling shutter but the fact the shutter speed doesnt go high enough to control ambient wide open with anything wider than f1.8

    Hey, I have this camera too and I want to buy a tripod but I don’t know if it’s matching with the 1/4 tripods

    • @DigitalRetro
      @DigitalRetro  5 місяців тому +1

      Hi, the Sony uses 1/4" thread on their cameras so it will fit. The best way is however to use the arca swiss adapter or l-plate(they are very cheap on Amazon/Ebay) and use them with arca swiss compatible tripod/heads. It will give you some additional grip on the camera and allow quick tripod mounting/dismounting option.
