My sister had one of these. Same year and same color. The only difference is that it was an LS model. She bought it brand new in Spring 2006. The car was built in December 2005. She loved that car. She drove the car until Christmas morning of 2016 when it broke down. She now has a black 2016 Nissan Rogue SV as a replacement to her HHR.
Very good review. I am just getting a 2009 with 73k miles here in Florida. The car belongs to an old lady who has to give up her driving privileges because of her eyes vision. The car is absolutely new. This is why I am looking at all videos regarding this model. Thanks so much for all the great information.
Battery in rear supposedly for heat protection and additional engine room up front. 50 amp BCM fuse on it too. Don't jump from the fuse box lead!! When battery dies, remove plastic cover on hatch door inside and use screwdriver to push tab to open hatch. Yes, is a PITA to do. Maintenance : replaced front hubs due to road noise, new tire's didn't fix, camshaft & exhaust position sensors (threw codes when it rained), rubber sheet covering fan box (ac/heat) as it will eventually leak water into passenger floor board area. Only use GM spark plugs. Alternator is easily replaced w/ help of harbor freight Serpentine bar (cut handle shorter) & replace the belt since your there. 2006 2LT 2.4L = 20mpg city.
Nice review. I have had my 2010 for 2-3 years and just crossed the 215,000 mile marker. Mine has had a few hick ups, but what do you expect for a 14 year old car. I like mine a lot and am starting to throw money at it here and there. The fuel line was the hardest part to swallow at almost $800 to replace. But all told I got a pretty good deal for a car that has cost me just under $3k total. Also I like this channel so I will subscribe to it.
JrZ CarZ Can I Get an honest opinion..... would you purchase this very exact make/model/and year (2006 Chevrolet HHR LS FWD) with = 211,136 miles on it
There's a couple other things I would look at before saying yes. Condition, price, any maintenance history. If all checked out, I wouldn't hesitate to if the price was right.
@@JrZCarZ Now that you've owned it for almost a year... I have 6 1/2 Questions: (1) What are some of the things that you love about this vehicle (2) What are some things that you wish that you knew about this vehicle? (3) The oil cap, is it sealed or is it possible to check and add oil without tools? (4) The transmission cap, is it sealed or is it possible to check transmission fluid/refill without tools? (5) 8:59 you're mentioning the oil filter.... so if you're attempting to remove this particular top... are tools needed or No, it unskrews by hand and the filter is changed easily by hand? *(6)* if a tool is actually n eeded for 8:59 , what is the exact name and size of that tool? I have a PT Cruiser convertible that has required lots of repairs over the years I've owned it. Most repairs are labor-intensive and you have to take half the engine or dash apart to fix things. Is the HHR similar ? or, can parts be accessed easier for repairs? I'm very interested in buying a HHR if it's not going to be down a week or two every time it needs repaired. Thank you!
Realistically it depends on what's being done. I know the engine compartment of the PT Cruiser is crammed so I can see how a lot would need to be taken apart to get to whatever it is. The HHR was less crammed so it can be easier. Thing is too..... I'd you take it to a mechanic they will go by the labor book of what the manufacturer says it should take. If the book says 8 hours of labor, they aren't going to give it to you in 5 cause they found an easier way, and they sure as hell will charge you every penny of that book time. This is why it's nice ro be able to work on your own cars. Buy better parts cheaper with no markup at a shop, no labor costs, and most likely faster turn around than at a shop that's making money just staring at your car. Happy motoring!
False. Changing tire size either speeds up or slows down the rotation of the tire, so it throws the speedo off which throws the mileage off making it look like you are going more miles than you really are. You're not getting better mileage, you're speedo is off making you think you're getting better mileage.

Thank you 😊 I'm going to possibly purchase one of these tomorrow.. great virtual tour of the car..
I have a 2006 amethyst cooler Ed HHR. And I love it!
It was really a great car. Unfortunately it met it's demise because of an idiot who ran a stop sign.
Best vid I've seen on this vehicle.
I Love my 2007 golden teal metallic HHR.
I miss this car!
I enjoyed your informative and pleasant tour. I am negotiating to buy one currently, this is of great help. Thank you Sir.
I have the same one but it’s a stick shift.I love my Chevy HHR….
Nice! I really enjoyed the car and the gas mileage was great too 👍
The car battery is in the rear spare area is to keep the engine heat from killing it & also it saves space under hood ...
Also helps with weight transfer.
I had an 09 now have an 11... awesome cars
It really was a great car, unfortunately some asshat t-boned my wife and totalled the car, otherwise she'd still be driving it.
HHR is like a pt cruiser on steriods, lots of headroom, decent mpgs, easy maintenance, had no real problems
Yep, I'd rather the HHR over the Pt Cruiser
I've got a 2011 HHR Z24 ...The Z24 was a dealership installed Cobalt performance package...it's got 110,000 original miles & has been a great vehicle👍
I really wish we still had this car. Unfortunately it was tboned and ended up getting totaled.....
thinking about getting one with 131,000 miles what’s your opinion on these cars are they reliable ?

Thanks for the info. Any new issues / problems now that you had the car for a while?
I wish I could say that we had it long enough to really enjoy the car....

when you change the oil filter make sure to replace the o-ring too
the battery in the back is the main battery for the car dont jump from the front
Any idea the total length from back of front seat to rear hatch? Curious if one can stealth camp in this rig?
I think it's roughly 5 feet with the back seats down so you would have to be kind of short to be comfortable enough to camp in the back of it.
Hi I have a 2010 HHR and I'm not getting good gas mileage I noticed on yours it says econ gas. Is there a economy gas setting?
How bad is bad fuel economy? This was averaging 29mpg
Liked and subscribed.
Thanks Tommy! More content is in the works this weekend for a new project coming to the channel.👍
I want one of these.

Is a 2008 chevrolet impala 3.5L with 177k worth trading for a 08 hhr with 253k for 4,999
I still owe 3k on my impala
I wouldn't pay $5k for an HHR with 253k miles...... As a matter of fact, there are very few cars I would ever pay $5k for with that mileage.
How much space
Total length when the seats are folded down
Total length you can fit from behind the driver's seat
I wish I was able to tell you that but I don't have the HHR anymore. It was a short lived ownership ua-cam.com/video/a14BRuuZKxI/v-deo.html
