- This is a very quick edit. Like literally a night's work. I did not want to commit to using the full song but I think it's decent enough. Carranger is a spectacular show and I fully enjoyed rewatching all the best parts. It made me miss the classic mecha fights. Love After World Domination is also surprising me by how entertaining it is. So happy to see the tokusatsu genre getting more anime representation.
This is 100% not coincidence, the author definitely shipped this and made a whole series about it
They actually made it worse in the anime. I don't like it a little bit.

@@Gundam_JAY Yes the previous series Ohranger was the series that nearly killed the series due to it being too serious and airing an episode that have a similar plot-line to a really recent and devastating terrorist bombing that happened in Japan.
Carranger was however was a change of pace as it was a parody series with it not trying to be serious and it works. Carranger was very much the Den-O of the 90s.
Fun fact: Red Racer's actor, Yuji Kishi, is also a voice actor known for voicing Ken from Street Fighter.
He was also once married to fellow sentai ranger.(its deka pink)
Speaking of deka pink, she turned to voice acting after deka. Landing the voice of tsubasa/ holic Mokona and Mai otome's Arika.

I was actually wondering if Love After World Domination's idea had been done in a Super Sentai or tokusatsu series. Considering Super Sentai's been a thing for 40 years, I figured the "ranger" and villain love story *had* to have been done at least once.

It was actually happened in PR in Space with Zhane (Silver Space Ranger) and Astronema. But the ship didn't sail too well for them as I remember

I actually love that the anime is pretty much a love letter to these concepts and ideas people had during Super Sentai's run and somewhat during some of the Power Ranger series. It still does a good job to bring in the comedy but immediately go back to the idea that they are genuinely fighting to stay together.

JAPAN IS THE ORIGINAL while USA copied the whole Super Sentai series in 1993 because USA witnessed that Super Sentai was successful that's USA copied Super Sentai by replacing it as Power Rangers in 1993. Grew up a major fan of power rangers as a kid. Never understood why we never really had a villain x ranger love story. Glad to know this Sentai had one at least.
We did get it somewhat though. My memory is fuzzy. I want to say Ninja storm did it somewhat. Power ranger in sspace, though I think it was mostly brother and sister for that one. I swear one of the other did like her though.
We do see it in short bursts in other spin-offs too:
- The Time Force and Wild Force crossover.
(Two of the guys from WF liked ex-villain's daughter but she goes out with TF Blue)
- Mystic Force
(Red Ranger's parents: mom was the Witch Ranger while the Dad was an evil, mind-anipulated warlock)
- Dino Thunder
(Quickly forgotten as it was addressed and vaguely teased between Tommy Oliver and villain girl disguised as the school principal)
- Operation Overdrive
(though the Blue Ranger got played by the villain girl to get what she was after)
Yeah I think timeforce had a subplot about the green ranger and villain's daughter being in a relationship.
In Dino Thunder we have a ship between Tomi as Black Ranger and the villainess, they even dance together at the prom in the last episode.

Jetman had multiple love parallelograms going on in both the text and subtext.
Also in Jetman - Ryu/Red Hawk and Rei/Maria. Although it didn't come to plot until late in the series.
Rei was a subordinate/partner to Ryu in the squad they're in. When Vyram attacked their space station base, Rei was sucked out into space and was taken and brainwashed into Maria.

This concept actually is quite popular in the western shows. Time Force did it, Ninja Storm did it twice with two different pairings, RPM did it while also doing the "it is my sister" twist at the same time, more recently Beast Morphers too. Its quite fun.

I just finished watching Carrangers as a Whole earlier. From episode 1 to 48.
God the Mecha fight Drama do not compare to the new ones. The drama in the older ones are MUCH MUCH better than the newer ones. The newer ones win in terms of design but thats it.
Oh and zonnette and Red racer was such a good development.
Nah, not a fan of current Sentai and Rider designs, makes me glad that Ultraman is still consistent and only saves the crazy designs for power ups or spin off characters

It's from around 2000s so maybe back then acting was not that important. As long as it's bring joy, especially the idea of having the daughter of the enemy boss is interested in our red ranger. I don't watch the series but my dad gave me a VCD of its movie when I was a child.
I remember the most iconic character was the Police ranger, that definitely givings Buzz Lightyear vibe now that I think again. And that guy has a robot that transform from a single unit giant police car, while other rangers combine their cars to become a single robot.
