    The reason why in Timeranger, the dad is a bit stern is because it's japanese tradition. They need to be more of a leader than a father for their name. In Time Force, the dad is a bit more caring. I like how they showed the family views very differently but clearly for each country.

      In some western families, however, you can get fathers who are quite stern and who are more leaders than fathers.

      Yeah, but it make sense for a lot of young japanese children-teens commonly live with parents actually have strict life. I do like Time force dad for more inspiring and positive as dark as the series it can get. But Timeranger IS as REAL as it can get with parenting value issues in japan. Also wanna bet considering this IS a fan translation. Japanese grammar and sentence structure could just be as broad and Vague to English subtitle.

    Time Force may have borrowed almost every element from TimeRanger, but you have to admit, they did a very good job emulating those elements. Power Rangers is known for dulling down their Sentai counterparts, but in this case, the adaptation was quite faithful to the source material, and made for one of the best "Power Ranger" seasons to date.

    • @xgray2012
      @xgray2012 7 років тому +176

      I'd say it's mostly the blame on bad direction and poor takes on filming the episode. There's an old saying, "Good direction can save a bad script! Bad direction can kill a good script!"

    • @xgray2012
      @xgray2012 7 років тому +107

      And also, it's not just Power Rangers that had to suffer from bad writing and poor direction in some of the episodes of each season, it's like that with every other TV show and movie from time-to-time. Hell, even Super Sentai and Kamen Rider tends to fall into victims of bad writing and terrible directions of their episodes and movies. Look at the Super Hero Taisen movies, Kamen Rider Wizard, Kamen Rider Ghost, Goseiger vs. Shinkenger or even Kyoryuger vs. Go-Busters for examples. Yeah, you'll noticed that there were some signs of bad writing and poor direction in other Tokusatsu projects as well.

    I like how in the Japanese version the standard soldiers have seemingly real revolvers where in the American they have weird plastic toy weapons. Yet the culture around guns are very different between the two countries. Easy gun ownership in the United states vs strict in Japan. Yet in America they are much more strict on depictions of guns in kids media than Japan is. Just something I find strange.

    • @HighStar9821

Time Force focused a lot on Wes's growth and transition, but time ranger did not specifically focus on one thing but the whole team. The transition of the whole team from anxiety, depression to a kind of positive team. Also, the main protagonist in time ranger is better than Ransik. Captain Ryuya charged anything like a time-travel machine, history editor, time jets, time-shadow...this kind of time-master may fit the element of time way better. He really emphasizes what makes him an individual and a man(person) in choosing their own path, not needing some forced path. I get the Japanese one had quite a few more layers especially with the emphasize on trying to make defense a business for rich people. - Eric gains the Mega Battle Armor
    - The Final Battle (I'm glad Eric didn't die here)
    - Wes joins the Silver Guardians as the captain, with Eric as his partner
    Timeranger:
    - The moment of truth between Tatsuya & his father (after the monster wrecked Tatsuya's helmet)
    - Naoto becomes Time Fire
    - Ayase made up his mind to fight his disease
    - Gien betrays Dolnero

    I didn't think this power rangers series could get any darker but the Japanese one took it to a different level

    Those sparks and explosions you see sometimes when a ranger is hit? That's actually the Morphin' Grid taking the hit to protect the Rangers, at the cost of their connection destabilizing a bit. When a ranger takes too much damage however, the connection is cut in order to protect the grid, this is why Rangers sometimes transform back when hit by a very strong attack. This here is an example of a case where a ranger is only partially reverted back to their human form, and their connection to the grid is compromised but still there.

    I have to admit...PR handled that final father and son scene way better than Sentai

      I think this has less to do with objective quality and more with cultural differences. BUT, it's a testament to how amazingly they adapted the show to the US audience, so bonus points!
