So? Examples are examples. So here’s mine- the Voltron Lions can deploy a energy shield to prevent foes from knocking them out of the combination sequence, but only in the original series. Either that, or that ability went away by Voltron Force.

the thing i'm most concerned is that apparently there is a DEDICATED BUTTON to split the car in half, awaken the god/mecha creature that hides inside it, and have it politely inform your opponent that he should pay better attention to the road. I expected it to finish with "thank you, have a nice day" before it went away
everyone talks about the serious parts of sentai more often than the goofiness. Like the craziness and campiness of this franchise is what makes it SUPER (Sentai)
Honestly I gotta admit I enjoy more the goofy scenes from Sentai rather than the serious ones, ofc the great serious scenes still hit different but the goofy is just too funny and you can turn off your brain to just enjoy It.
I truly believe there are two reasons why Sentai is beloved: 1: INSANELY creative, cool designs & artwork 2: Comedy. I don't give a damn about any serious part of sentai, I love it for having goofy ass superheroes and incredible graphic design in the costumes & mecha
The comedy in this series in particular is actually what saved the whole franchise. The predecessor to this (Chouriki Sentai Ohranger) was pretty dark in tone and very nearly killed the franchise. At the time it looked like Gekisou Sentai Carranger would be the last Super Sentai series, so they wrote it as a sort of parody of the whole franchise, only for it to be successful enough to allow the franchise to continue. And it's still going strong 25 years later. The irony is the American version (Power Rangers Turbo) almost killed its franchise, resulting in its much darker successor (Power Rangers in Space) being written with the intention of being the final one but did well enough to change those plans. In other words Super Sentai was saved by going lighter in tone, whereas Power Rangers was saved by the exact opposite.
Hence why the Power Ranger adaptation was said be difficult. Carranger leaned towards comedic elements and a bit of parody while still being the main line. PR adaptation made it the same as power ranger as usual, that's why using the JP footage was considered hard
Yeah, I think Saban figured it was a good series to use a kid ranger since it was a comedy, but neglected to realize he would have to transition into the more serious Space.
They intentionally made this season funny and light hearted because Japan had just gone through the Tokyo subway terrorist attack in 1995 so they didn’t want it to be serious.
I kinda disagree. While it was funny here, it did not really fit the moment over at Power Rangers which was trying to be serious at times compared to Carranger.
It made zero sense when they *already* used the Megazord in the movie, which unlike the MMPR movie, *does* count for the show as their Turbo power origins. It makes Tommy out to be a complete idiot who doesn't know how to use the Zord he JUST flawlessly put together last time.
From what I understand, Carranger was intended as a light, playful parody of Super Sentai prior. This is why we have goofy shit like checking the Zord's instruction manual and, well, everything else. I believe the main villain was played by a porn star, too.

Yea, most of the mecha and robos in Super Sentai are actually alive. DaiZyuJin (yes I know it's officially spelled Daizyuzin but that's stupid, seriously Toei) is apparently even an actual god or something (I think the "jin" means "god" IIRC) . Most of the robos have "ou" in their name (most people spell it "oh" though, like Yugioh but that is not the correct romanization, on a side note, Yugioh should only have ONE dash in it, after the oh, if at all) which means "king" btw, obviously a robot without any cognitive capacity couldn't literally be a king.

All that being said though the next season Power Rangers in Space was a major high point for the series being by all accounts one of the best seasons even after all these years also Turbo was supposed to at least have a better ending than what we ended up with cause they had a huge ending planned to wrap everything up.
Car ranger is very comedic in nature. And Car ranger vs Oh ranger is one of the most (if not THE most) hilarious VS series. Even without subtitles, you will definitely laugh a lot watching it.

Well, there is a quick fight after this; RV Robo heads to the city to fight the enlarged MM Mogu (the monster Zelmoda mentioned). It's a quick fight, too; RV Robo ends it in one attack with the Extreme Racing Cutter.
OKAY, that mech's head just randomly popping out of the car and telling Edgar or whatever this counterpart to him was that he should be careful COMPLETELY took me off guard, bro

If you're looking for an superhero show that is not afraid to not take itself too seriously, Carranger would be it. Pure entertainment from start to finish. If you were wondering why Power Rangers Turbo seemed pretty goofy, this is why.
It's very interesting that Carranger's goofier tone and self-parody presentation was very well received (it's overstated when people claim Super Sentai was in threat of cancellation; Ohranger right before Carranger performed higher in sales but the series was never under such a threat; it wasn't until Megaranger did the IP really rebound into a powerhouse and ironically did so with a slashed budget) while Power Rangers Turbo nearly killed its own equivalent IP as it struggled to make the comedic material work with MMPR's more serious attitude.

I thought I was crazy when I heard those "wait, is that the door sound from Doom? No, it can't be..." and I rewatched it a few times. Yep its Doom.
It's not _from_ DOOM, but a Sound Ideas library. Doesn't make it any less amusing how often that door effect is used though.

If you're looking for an superhero show that is not afraid to not take itself too seriously, Carranger would be it. Pure entertainment from start to finish. If you were wondering why Power Rangers Turbo seemed pretty goofy, this is why.

This scene alone was more entertaining than the whole series we got in America
It's very interesting that Carranger's goofier tone and self-parody presentation was very well received (it's overstated when people claim Super Sentai was in threat of cancellation; Ohranger right before Carranger performed higher in sales but the series was never under such a threat; it wasn't until Megaranger did the IP really rebound into a powerhouse and ironically did so with a slashed budget) while Power Rangers Turbo nearly killed its own equivalent IP as it struggled to make the comedic material work with MMPR's more serious attitude.

Theres also this one absurd ranger video about a group of rangers basically stalking a dude, the story pivots on this guy's regular life and got annoyed by the presence of these rangers. In the end he somehow got transformed into monster. Im still searching for that video
