Yamcha finds a lovely couple who get a little handsy.
Episode 35:
• DragonBall Z Abridged:...
Edited by Nies. You can follow them on twitter at / mrniesguy
Yamcha being called 87% Goku is still one of the best compliments hes had
Just shows how strong he actually is. In the show, they thought he was the exact match
I love how Gero is skeptical of it, but he just decides, eh, close enough, f*ck it. Like even if this guy isn't Goku, killing a guy who looks a lot like Goku will still be fun.
@@Phoenix-pm2qr no they didn't? In the show they basically go "oh hey its Yamcha. Bet Goku wouldn't be too happy if we killed him >:)"
Well Yamcha did almost die of heart failure (does missing count as failure?) there. How DID a sensu bean replace the entire heart anyway?
@@Phoenix-pm2qr not they didn't. in the actual show they knew it wasn't him but just wanted to kill one of gokus friends to fuck with him
Hearing that Taka felt the team was being a little too hard on Yamcha now makes perfect sense as to why Cell is the only character that doesn't insult him and actually seems a bit friendly towards him.
Yamcah, for god's sake, don't thank him!
I thought it was because Cell was technically part Yamcha, even with the throwaway line between Krillin and Gohan saying “it feels like everyone we know is fighting Mr. Piccolo”/“Yeah, except Yamcha”, which I took as a “his power level is too low to be felt” joke more than a “nah, he’s not a part of Cell” joke.
@@yukaiyami Personally, I just thought he was being nice to Yamcha is because he had Goku's DNA in him, and Goku, despite using his friend's name related to being killed, still holds his Friendship in high regard, so much that the moment he heard Yamcha commits suicide, Goku made damn sure to remember that fact, unlike the important Android attack.
Cell is nice to Yamcha because it's literally in his best DNA to be nice to him.
Kaiser felt the same way and so did Nick it was a group thing!
@@Takahata101VT that may be so but to use (kinda) your own words:
"buuuuut its stil funny"
Tien obviously did something with those 3 years to go from dying to Nappa to holding off SemiPerfect Cell
This alone should make Tien stronger than Krillin. I don’t know what Super is on about, making Tien fodder.
I think it's more the move itself since it uses more life energy in addition to usual Ki, at least that's what I always thought
Well after King Kai'd trainer he did beat Butter and Jeice by himself, so sense then I've always put Tein ahead of Krillin sadly it doesn't mean much ny the time you sees Freiza's full power if you not at least there to quote Vegeta DBZA. "you're basically a meat shield."
@@ViltrumiteIsRite99Krillin is stronger because he doesn’t have that limit tiens body still can’t handle that move without draining his life force. So krillin can train but tien is technically stuck at strength cap
@@donovanbradford8231 That's an anime only scene, in cannon he absolutely can't take on Burter and Jeice at that point, that'd put him above Gohan and pre-Recoome Vegeta
I like that Chichi said she packed "you all" some lunch, implying she packed one for Piccolo as well.
It's a canteen of water xD
@@MamboCat84 still a nice gesture.
Well that was nice of her but I wonder if she knows he doesn’t eat
I'm sure like, watermelon or grapes or something would be fine.
@@Takaichi666-Correct, doesn't NEED to eat, he can if he wants to.
“What do you think, Inconspicuous Old Man and Mime?” Is SUCH an iconic line
“Not my monkeys, not my circus” is a missed line opportunity for Cooler.
"Ah, I see you have discovered that the off switch to my oculo-vapo beams is in my cheek" is such a great, offbeat joke. It's just so weird and unnecessary, I love it.
I thought it was a Simpsons-style inspire joke. There was a Treehouse of Horrors episode where Bart kills a giant wizard Mr Burns by stabbing his shin, and Burns says "my enchanted shin! How did you know that was my source of power!?!"
I'm pretty sure the line is "toque" which is the tall hat gero wears and is knocked off
@@Fasulord I don't think so - it sounds like cheek, the subs say "cheek", and Goku clearly punches him square in the cheek at 8:41, which stops the beams.
@@kwanarchive I'd love something to lampshade this, like "...Is he fucking with us?" And then it turns out yes, he is. ...Ig megamind did it, with the whole copper weakness thing
"Bulma hold the senzu beans, they'll only weigh us down" was maybe one of the first times I cry laughed from something being so stupid, props
It would only make sense if they gave them to her to have them in a known location so all of them can get to it if need be.
@@nightstar6179 Yeah I get that, "but they'll only weigh us down" just sent me off a cliff
Esp since she knew it- "Wait, what?"
@@nightstar6179 Or if Yajirobe had handed them to her and they rushed off to help him and just forgot to grab them from her.
@@ChrisPeteG Or, ya know, give everyone one bean, and maybe any remainder to Bulma...
Hell, did the beans survive the impending car crash?
Fun Fact: If you pick Taka’s voice in Xenoverse for your CAC and use Roshi’s Lullaby Punch, he’ll say, “Cat loves food yeah yeah yeah” 😂
And all the dumb content farms of the 2010s when Xenoverse came out completely skimmed over that to mention Pizza Time and Space Australia for the millionth time

What is the voice number
18:02 The "you are most unkind" sounds like something Starfire would say from the Teen Titans.
Now that you mentioned it, it kinda does, she also kind of takes things a little too literally
That's the only one I could think of
Oh this is a most joyous occasion, come friends, let us commence with the Earth festivities, the partying, the hanging out, and the junk food!
I feel like she'd throw a "the" in there somewhere, like "that is the most unkind"
@@Violn95 she usually doesn't it's not very common she adds a the
She started doing that when teen titan go came out where they exaggerated the way they behave.
Props to Yamcha for still running to the rescue despite really not wanting to.
I don’t blame him. Between certain doom and changjng. Diaper, i know what I’d pick.
@@orangeapples Not that part.. 10:25 When he hears the people screaming and he knows he is the closest. He is so afraid for his life that he doesn't want to, but at the same time he knows he's the closes person able to help so he goes anyway. Vey heroic IMP.
@@NinjaAdorable Yamcha is the best. And he was so strong, in the show, they thought he was Goku
@@Phoenix-pm2qr gotta remember, even as arguably the weakest of the group, he's still stronger than just about anyone NOT in their group.
@@orangeapples With certain doom aren't you gonna need to do both?
In Krillin’s defense, malnutrition at a young age massively affects height later in life.
Before he met Roshi, he was essentially raised on table scraps.
Makes you wonder how tall Marron will end up being as she gets older. She's short during Super despite her age but so are Goten and Trunks, I think just because the anime didn't want to make new models for them.
Wait, was he? I don't really remember his backstory besides the fact he was bullied by the other monks.
@@marxist-leninist-protagonist maybe he simply assumed, since there's the whole trope about buddhist monks being able to simply live off of like a single the energies of the universe, or something
@@KlausiboyZ Huh. Never heard of that
I thought it was established that he has dwarfism
“You’re being bitchier than usual today and NOT in a hot way!” was basically the Abridged version of Vegeta’s line in Super when he says that he likes Bulma for her feistiness and her strong willed personality.
And it also explains why there's a couple of instances of him being scaroused by Chi-Chi.
So Super has already canonized two TFS things:
-Popo is legitimately a menace
-Vegeta’s taste in women
@@sentientmustache8360 DBS also had the Yamcha baseball filler arc which always felt kinda like a loveletter to TFS for keeping DBZ popular as heck for all those years, lotta little jokes in there that make much more sense if you've watched DBZA.
@@TheDemocrab Yamaha being a basketball player was a thing from the sayain saga filler in Z, I didn't watch the filler so I thought tfs made it up too.
@@justinarzola4584 I know Yamcha was a baseball player in Z, I mean the whole tone of the episode and half the jokes at Yamchas expense in it were blatantly written with TFS' stuff in mind.
“Oh no! Yamcha’s been yamcha’d!” One of my favorite lines that just make me giggle like a madman.
Kinda like FF7 MA with "Clouding a situation."
Very fond of how despite being scared, Yamcha still goes toward the scream.
yamcha's a really cool dude, it's simply unfortunate that he's so weak.
tien has the same problem, but he's not affected since he isn't weighed down by earthly vices.
True courage.
“You said you were wearing protection!”
“I was wearing my armor!!”
Such an iconic and hilarious line that I didn’t even know was from DBZA until I got into DBZA a few years ago. I would always see that line quoted on anything Vegeta x Bulma related and I never knew it was from DBZA, so when I heard it for the first time I was like “Oooohhh THATS where it came from!” 😂
Young 11 year old me thought that joke was the PINNACLE of genius in 2013😂
It's extra funny because he wasn't wearing it when she called him up. He STOPPED TO PUT IT ON.
@@matthewsimpson5529 i thought the same thing! Though to be fair maybe it was a different instance
@@matthewsimpson5529 Not only did he stop to go put his armor on, he also DID IT with the armor on which means Bulma let him wear it in bed and just thought “eh fuck it, whatever kink he’s got, I’m game” XD
@@thefabuloustrash05 Tbf his cell saga armor is kinda hot
“Hold the Senzu Beans, they’ll only weigh us down”
It’s such an under appreciated line and I love it to pieces. 🤣
So, perfectly brilliantly dumb.
10:36 can we just respect that Yamcha went to help knowing he didn't stand a chance.
tbh that's why I like the humans in dbz, they are woefully underprepared and outmatched by their friends and foes, but they still show up regardless and get their asses kicked just to do their part for the team. They may not have the power level or plot armor of protagonists, but they do have the same courage.
He there for emotional support
@@itiswhatitis3339
Yamcha: I brought towels.
Cell: And just like that, you're already more useful than Vegeta.
@@marvelsandals4228 They do all of that and yet they aren't on board with using the Dragon Balls to answer impending threats of doom or using any real underhanded tactics in general (despite several of them literally specializing in fighting styles built around that, which they conveniently abandon in Z). Apparently it's better to be a glorified meat shield or punching bag than to actually be productive, fight effectively, or at least minimize the burden on wishes and senzus.
Yeah, I love the moments of bravery from the humans. Yamcha here, Tien against cell, krillin against buu, etc
“You are most unkind! “ is probably one of my most quoted lines from TFS.
So universally applicable.
I think the Tenshinhan joke works well, when you consider that he and Yamsha died and went to the afterlife together. They've spent all that time together training, become closer as friends, and it's been established Tenshinhan is fully desensitized to the concept of death. It makes sense he'd be the one to have a reaction in that moment, and it makes sense that it would be that kind of annoyed frustration.
Except Tien would also get one shotted, so idk why he's acting all high and mighty
@@Phoenix-pm2qr As someone else in the comments said, you don't need to be superior to someone to take a friendly jab at them. He isn't acting high and mighty.
@@Phoenix-pm2qr Again, Tenshinhan smashes Semi Perfect Cell into the ground over and over again and in TFS lore at least Gero is scared to fight him.
True, at this point they have 2 sets of magical dragon balls capable of reviving the dead, Tien, Yamcha, Goku, and...come to think of it ALL of them aside from Gohan have died and been revived. Krillin and Chaiotzu have died and been revived TWICE already. So yeah, seeing your friend bleeding to death is significantly more mundane after that. It's like obviously we'll revive him, but...come on man! Not again!
"You make it sound like death has no consequence."
"It really doesn't."
I always get excited when a new episode of this series drops
Same!
Yes so much this.
It's like being a kid waiting for the next ep of dbz

*This thing that they're doing.
I hope Yamcha feels better, I think that encounter left him with a hollow feeling in his chest
I'll allow it
I guess Yamcha now has TWO holes through his chest in this episode.
Goku somewhere: I GET IT!
yes his encounter with Gero certainly left him a bit drained
HAHA
17:49 Wherever it came from, I love how “You are most unkind” made it into an actual DBZ Kai episode… until Toei got mad at Funimation for airing that and unaired it.
I'm pretty sure it was just a line they thought of and put in for the cameo honestly since I can't find anything online.
But yeah shame Toei have zero sense of humor.
that's so random though. how can they prove it's from Abridged and not just pure chance?
I thought it was in Budokai 3 but nope Freeza's line is "how rude!" lol
Hey it's you! Hi
@@justinjoeltracyii Hello! …Wait. I get that a lot. Where have you seen me?
I only remember "You are most unkind!" being the line MasakoX uses as the Goku actor in the DBZ Kai English dub of the in-universe "movie" of Hercule beating Cell
Lani’s impression of dub 19 is spot on.
By far, the best part of my Saturdays
Me to! I love these!
Among the best for me but still very high up. 😁
MAYBE my top 10. Saturdays are pretty eventful, such as watching "Blue lock".
Same
Yup
I wonder if Gero is one of Toriyama's favorite characters. Cause getting lore develop around him for years now.
- Android 16 being modeled after his son
- Introduction of his wife and Android 21. The former now being canon
- Introduction of his grandson Dr Hedo
Gotta wonder what the original plan was before the executive meddling
Gero and #19 were supposed to be the original androids that Trunks warned about. These new lore additions are probably something he couldn’t include at the time.
Toriyama just gets random ideas at times or pulls something out of his ass when asked a question during an interview.
The plan was to forget him like every other character.
to be fair Toriyama did do some pre-planning in early DBZ. Android arc, despite being changed so much by the editor, still had preplanning and forethought given into it. I wouldn't be surprised if he had more planned for Gero but couldn't fit it in due to the change of focus.
for comparison, imagine if editor told him Freeza should be scrapped, then he would probably die in the first form, but the latter would still have been planned before.
I always loved the joke when 19 mistook Yamcha for Goku because given that general description, a person who haven't Goku or anyone who doesn't know about Dragon Ball WOULD mistake Yamcha for Goku.
Also, when 20 mentioned a scar, I immediately thought Bardock... Goku with a scar would indeed be Bardock.
"We have Goku at home."
Goku at home: Yamcha.
Gero: Eh, close enough.
I had totally forgotten what 19 sounded like in the dub until I heard Lani's impression and all it came rushing back to me. So yeah the text-to-speech was a good call. 😅
My favorite bit from this episode is definitely "WOOHOO, NOT me!!"
A saying I use a lot myself
14:40 I always felt this line by Tien, while definitely mean, is fully in character for Abridged Tien at this point. He knows that Yamcha will be fine because even if they don't get him a magical bean that heals all wounds and restores your stamina before he bleeds out, they can always just wish him back with the dragon balls. As he said at the end of season two, "[Death has no consequence]. We're literally just sitting here *waiting* to go back. Hell, this is Chiaotzu's *second* *time*." So since Yamcha will be fine, he takes the opportunity to rib a friend.
Except the exact same thing would happen to Tien, who is just being an asshole. Gero would one shot Tien
@@Phoenix-pm2qr Perhaps, but much like Vegeta vs Piccolo, we'll never truly know. I mean, Tien was bodying semi perfect Cell less than a week after this (and only lost because regeneration is op). There could probably be a case that Tien could take Gero, but even if he couldn't, he probably could last thirty seconds.
All that aside, you don't have to be coming from a place of superiority to rib a friend.
@@MudkipsUseRHKhe was merely annoying him and Tien was draining his life force to hold him off. I wish the human fighters stood a better chance but power levels and bs
@@Phoenix-pm2qr Not if Tien whipped out Shin Kikoho...aw the hell with it, Tri Beam, whatever. It held off Cell in his second form, who was completely unphased by all of 18 and 16's attacks. Sure, it didn't wound him, but what about Dr. Gero, who is weaker than Piccolo? I'd like to see that fight haha
Zero chance he'd be able to do that. Yamcha's Spirit Ball is super powerful.. same with Krillen's destructor disks... problem is Dr Gero blitzed them and they'd lose. Even Gero blitzed Piccolo and nearly killed him
I have to say that GenerallVan's performance as Gero is the most underrated in the show. He has some of my favourite joke deliveries.
SERIOUSLY WHAT THE *FUCK* IS NAMEK
THANK YOU he is easily one of my favorite characters and it is ENTIRELY the delivery, that man kills it.
He even moved on to voice Ainz Ooal Gown.
Anytime I die in a game due to a glitch of somd random crap I tend to yell SON OF A WHORE! Thanks to him.
Agreed, this is a genuine compliment towards him: of all the voice actors he SOUNDS like a professional voice actor with talent and years of experience in the industry, hell BETTER than some of those guys tbh. I love all the dbza guys, but he really stands out.
The only thing I found weird about the Bulma/Vegeta fight is that Bulma is literally one of the richest people on the planet and doesn't really need any more income lol
She's telling him to get a job for himself, she'll use her money to raise her kid but not support a dead beat dad on top of that.
@@Hi_Just_Fred Yeah that makes sense.
@@Hi_Just_Fred I agree. It’s not so much that he needs to support them, him just not leeching is all the support she needs lol

@@marioluis578 Wait if the joke there was that they were quoting lines from DBZA then doesn't that mean that "You are most unkind" can't be a reference to their work on Kai?
Cat Loves Food (ye yeah yeah yeah) is my favorite gag. Not only is it riffing the dub, but it is *consistent*. From here on out, whenever you hear a piece of in-universe music, it's a cover of Cat Loves Food. From Bulma's ringtone, to the Country Music Channel, it's just covers. And I love it.
I love Kaiser and Lani together. Those are always the best Bento podcast episodes too.
Huh
Wanna try that again bud? 😅
Lmao I knew what you meant bud😂
idk, Kaiser and Scott work better
From here on out the whole Dragon Ball gang just really *feel* comfortable. All of the characterizations are well developed and familiar. _Like our old friends!_
Piccolo saying “so the prostitutes” always kills me
Sometimes I'll just say "Ohhhh so the prostitutes..." whenever there's an awkward silence.
I'm so glad they talked about the manga death of that old man, its was so damn crazy, I literally thought about it right before Kaiser brought it up.
Yeah jeez first time I saw the Android arc was through the manga and man was it horrifying. And I thought Trunks slicing to bits Freeza was disgusting in there, even though the tyrant had that coming too long
@@JThom529 tbh "Android" 17 is a complete, unhinged menace in the Future Trunks timeline. He is just a regular human who got superpowers after Dr. Gero augmented him. He really has no reason or justification for slaughtering innocent people aside from his line in History of Trunks abridged "the better question is why not? Who's gonna stop us?" He's just doing this for funzies, because he gets off on it. That boy's sick in the head.
@@JThom529 The DBZ manga as a whole can be far more brutal. Like when Frieza gets cut, you can see some of his entrails hanging out. When Gohan is decimating the Cell Jrs, you can see their brains. In the Buu Saga, when the gang are tailing Spopovich and Yamu, they come across a family Babidi's group killed. In the anime, they're just dead. In the anime the woman was cut in half with her entrails hanging out and the man is missing an arm. As for the boy, it was largley the same, but with his blood pooling below him.
I notice Goku gets smarter and slightly more serious after the heart attack. _Did_ the brain damage actually do him some good?
Underrated comment
I don't know. Maybe going into the Hypersonic Lion Tamer did it.
All the screaming killed off the dominant dumb brain cells..? 🤔
Maybe the lack of blood flow gave his brain a soft reset. He already had plenty of damage to begin with. Not to mention the brain damage. And the brain damage. And the brain damage
He was always a mad genius...when it comes to fighting anyway. "Oh sorry, I was just thinkin' bout' fighting...I just treated the whole thing like one big fight, kind of like everything in my life." I think after saving the world a few times, Goku just kind of embraced his role as "fight man" and hyper specialized in his craft to the point where he is a savant, completely underdeveloped in other areas of life like social situations, because all of that was less important than defeating villains.
I just love the Dont tell Chi Chi line. You were so close Goku. Also I thought the truck exploding looked great
詐欺っぽくて草
"So the prostitutes..." is one of my favorite lines in the show😂
I cannot understand nor explain why these commentary videos fill me with such an overwhelming sense of comfort and happiness
Lani just casually doing the Android 19 voice to show that they could've done it while explaining why they went with the better text to speech is great, really shows his acting chops.
I swear, that "Cat Loves Food" song sounds legit like one of the attract songs from those deer-hunting games.
23:05 And now I finally understand why the Mr Mime you get in an NPC trade in Pokémon Red was named “Marcel”
The more you know 🌠
"... Shit that's good."
10:19 I just realized, Piccolo has enhanced hearing, which was proven because he could hear Goku and Trunks talking earlier. So most likely he did hear the girl screaming, he just took his damn time. 😂
I mean, if prostitution is legal, maybe he could hear a bunch of things and was trying to block it all out while searching 😂
@@yukaiyamioh yeah, poor green man

Lani: You annoy as many people as you want (pronouncing Goku as Gokū)
Scott, smiling: I *will*
Man I wish I had Scotts confidence
Why is Lani, Lani, but Kaiser is just "Scott"?
I will admit Kaiser got me calling most of the characters and attacks by their Japanese names, but I still stick to Goku, Son Goku at that, but still just Goku, not Gokū. I mean what are we going to call Vegeta Be-jita or Krillin Ku-ri-rin? I mean we could, but...why? lol
@@marvelsandals4228 For me, I've just called Nick "Lani" for longer than I've called Scott "Kaiser", similar to how I still say "SSJ" to shorted Super Saiyan instead of "SS".
For me, I'm a filthy american, so the english names are what I heard first and for the longest, so I stuck to them (even with characters like Fasha and Salza).
Always assumed his pronunciation comes from being an older sub-fan instead of dub
13:25 not only fine, it actually looks like part of animation! It's always hard to mimic styles, and you did it perfectly there, imo.
The editing on Android 20's eye-laser barrage maintaining that rapid pace has kept that uninterruptive "Never!" squarely in my deep memories.
The contrast between Bulma & Vegeta's argument and Korin & Yajirobe's spat.
Oh my god i just realized what Gero says to Goku transforming: "I dont care if you're a Soup or Sayian or a Soup or Side" and I absolutely love that
13:20
honestly i never knew until now that the detail of the explosion was edited in, and i honestly have to give props to Kaiser on this, even if he thinks otherwise on it.
couse i think it's very easy to miss that detail, if you're either not in the know or don't pay too much attention to how explosions were animated in the series, so it's a detail that works in terms of being an edit that doesn't distract from the original scene or look obvious it's new. just having stock explosions keyed into scenes looks very obvious, but mixing the visuals in with the animation helps make it not as noticable.
Me and my gf have just broken up, i needed something to cheer me up and your notification just popped up. I really needed this, thank you for being there when I needed it

Hang in there! We're rooting for you!
At least you got told, unlike Yamcha :P
Here’s a hug dude ♥️. Go take some time to yourself. Binge some DBZA
If Vegeta of all people can find someone, so can you.
I know this doesn't come up until later, but I really do appreciate how you make a point that, as unreasonable as Chichi gets portrayed in this franchise, she's got a point and it's kind of unfair to present her as such.
It's true. Imagine being a mother and your only child keeps getting taken away from you without your consent and dragged into fights with terrifyingly powerful beings. As a kid, I used to think she was a wet blanket, but now that I'm a grown woman who wants children of my own, I completely get it and I can't fault her for flipping out all the time.
Gohan was straight up 4 years old when Raditz (and then Piccolo) kidnaps him and only about 5-6 when he insists on going to Namek, and only around 8-9 years old by this episode.
He's a literal child with a single digit age and his father is taking him to fight some genocidal androids to the death.
ChiChi is 100% justified in her attitude
Hell, I'd go a step further and add that Gohan's not even that strong at this point. I'd say pretty much every fight before Perfect Cell she actually has a point about it being kind of unnecessary to take Gohan, and even that is more hindsight.
@@katherine6326Also mad props to her training Goten when Goku's dead, even though she was constantly worried sick when Gohan got dragged to all those battles when he was that age.
She may have been shown to only care about Gohan's education but really her heart was in the right place in wanting to protect him.
That and I liked when the movies let her fight a little bit to show that although she's outmatched she'll still try to protect her kids, like in Lord Slug
@@lilhanhan Chichi being willing to train Goten after all her resistance to Gohan fighting is also pretty realistic. Things definitely change when you have more than one kid. Every only child I've ever met has had extremely protective parents, and every time their parents have another kid they always lighten up.
17:30 I have no idea why but this joke absolutely killed me this time around. I am exhausted and very tired but it was just the kind of dumb literal "bonehurtingjuice" I needed.
This is usually the episode I go to when rewatching the series, the jump in quality is so good.
The "You are most unkind" comment is from an unreleased version of the scene in the Funimation dub where the Mr. Satan v Cell fight was redone in a bad movie with silly effects.
The scene that had some SUPER familiar voices. (It was these guys). And one of the lines the bad actor Goku said was "You are most unkind". And that was indeed voiced by the very MasakoX who does Goku here.
Oh no! Yamcha's been Yamcha'd!
And Vegetas about to get Vegeta'd by 18 soon. Can't wait!
The yamcha jokes about him being yamcha'd is absolutely justified and I'm super glad you kept them in, cuz man while Scott and apparently Taka thought them to be too mean spirited, I agree with Lani that it was just too perfect not to have it in there XD Don't you agree inconspicuous old man and mime! Ah--
"But don't tell Chichi" has me in tears every damn time.
Also, just noticed Yamcha and Portgas D. Ace have something in common. Pada pap papap BYE!
I still LOVE the fact that the Einhander soundtrack gets used in this episode (12:37 for this video)
I also love that you used Homestuck music in this episode, when we'te first directly introduced to Gero and 19. I don't remember the name of the track, but I do recognize it by ear.
Edit: "Even in Death" is what it's called. I'm surprised you didn't address that here, regardless.
Lani’s impression of 19 had me rolling
I've been rewatching dbza and i can recite the lines almost perfectly, its astonishing
A huge accomplishment 🎉
I'm fully on Lani's side for the Yamcha joke. It was funny and a seriously good point. Yamcha doesn't even put up a fight.
Anyone who wasn’t an SSJ or piccolo wouldn’t have done any better.
@@HeyItsFranklyn (Looks at Tenshinhan forcing Semi Perfect Cell into the ground over and over again) Look I love Yamcha but he was made to jobb this fight.
@@vazak11
Literally the only reason Tien was able to do that was strictly because he caught Cell of guard.
Piccolo was also nearly killed by Gero when dude snuck up on him.
Tien would get owned just as quickly. Same with Krillen
21:25 man Masako's scream is just so good!

The "make sure you don't tell Chichi" had me dying when i first watched that episode
I think it's the dumb, lifeless expression on his face as he says it, then stops short like for a millisecond his brain kicked in and the gears started turning hahaha
Yamcha being Yamchae’d always loving it.
Only Vegeta getting Vegeta'd is better
im a simple woman, get a tfs notification, drop everything to watch.
Ah, the start of my favorite stretch of episodes. Christ as Gero is just golden, and "Please put that back. I kind of need it to flee from you" is a gem of a line, delivered exquisitely 👌
honestly Gero has slowly become my favourite character over the years (they are all amazing), little by little with each rewatch. So this is an especially special episode for me. The beginning of low toned condescending jabs and flustered caught-off-guard screams.
The chichi scream at 2:40 kills me every time.
I love that they referenced Silent Movie at 23:10 Mel Brooks is genius!
I still remember watching this when it first came out. I was on break while helping at another location of the company I worked for. And as the prostitution joke was made, the store director of that location was walking past and went "Oh crap is that a new DBZA episode? I gotta check that out later!"
It Gave me a good chuckle.
My butthole clenched for you for just a moment. When episode 51 came out for Christmas my grandma walked by as Time exclaimed "I didn't kikoho myself half to death so that he could get laid!!" She went "what in the world are you watching!?" And I thought this was headed the same direction. Glad they were a fan.
The voice actors that did the voice acting of the Dragon Ball Z Abridged characters did a fantastic job at doing it.
You're looking at half the voice actors right there
I especially like the actors who play Piccolo, Krillin, Vegeta, Master Roshi, Mr. Popo and Shenron.
Whoever they are, they should definitely be on the show at some point.
@@EpicNerdsWithCameras Hum...yeah, sure, "the actors" ! In plural...🤭
@@EpicNerdsWithCamerasbut, I think it'd be cool if we got the actors who play Guldo, Nappa, Super Kami Guru, and Cell to do a different commentary show
@@EpicNerdsWithCameras Also, it'd be fun to have the actors of Yajirobe and Korin sitting face to face, giving us some insights on the chemistry of their characters. They should be joined by Scott. 🤭😉
I love Gero just screaming “Forthwith!” before jamming his arm through Yamcha
22:52 today is actually marcel Marceau’s 100 birthday. kinda nice little coincidence you guys released this so close to the actual birthday
I'm so glad I was born at the perfect time to watch DBZ as a child, and DBZA as a teen.
Edit: now I'm feeling old lmao
My wife who doesn't even watch dragonball laughs so hard every time she hears " I was wearing my armor "
this was the episode where i felt like this series became more than just a parody, and instead it's own alternate dub of the show. everything from the editing, voice acting, writing, characters, the story beats, it all just comes together perfectly and stays that way until the very end. not that i don't enjoy the whole series, there's so many great moments before this, but episode 35 is where y'all perfected the craft in my opinion. i've been looking forward to this episode since you started the commentary, so stoked to watch these every Saturday!
I mean sure but it’s still a comedic take on the show.
@@adarus9941 not saying it isn't. just that it felt less like a homemade parody dub by fans and more like a professionally produced show from this episode on, even if it is still a parody.
Nah still just theft
@@seventycross0yt175 cry about it
This entire episode just has so many fantastic jokes in it.
... guess the Man-Emperor of Mankind decided to take pity on TFS and used the Warp to let them know which TTS was used for 19. 😉🤣 (For those not following Taka's commentary, Bruva Alfabusa heard this, has the right TTS since 19 and Big E use the same one, and let Taka know.)
I see a new creator commentary, I come *FORTHWITH!*
FORTHWITH!
Still secretly hoping in vain that this will end with either Bojack or episode 61 somehow. I know it won't happen, but I can dream
Here's your daily dose of copium.

I know this won't happen i did not expect anything from this but now my mind won't stop thinking about it and im gonna cry it ultimately don't happen.
I'd love if they did a Battle of God's Abridged as one final send off for the series. I dunno why but I feel like it'd be perfect to me. But I know that's a foolish wish 😅
Respectfully: It's not happening.
I only say it so bluntly because so many folks are getting their hopes up and it's not going to end well.
"Inconspicuous old man and mime" had me absolutely cackling the first time I heard it.
we need a full version of cat loves food. anyone who is in contact with Lani, Kaizer or Taka...please make it happen 😭😭😭😭

Legit, one of my favorite joke made on the show.
8:15 For those who don't know that is the opening to the track "Even in Death" from the Homestuck Vol. 7 album.
I love how at aroun 8:25 as the androids are touching down, the scene is quiet except for their footsteps! Kinda menacing
Super excited to be getting to this point. Gero is probably my favourite Abridged character, despite how few episodes he's actually in overall. Guererro (Idk if I'm spelling that correctly) is godly.
I respect Scott for not wanting to be needlessly mean to Yamaha, but that whole roasting session was class. I still say "X got yamcha'd" when I or someone else fails miserably
Except he helped push the anti yamcha narrative for all these years
10:08
Jesus fuck and toriyama‘s editors really said that Gero and 19 weren’t intimidating as villains
"Some fat guy an old geezer" *casually murders civilians in very fucked up ways*
They probably just saw the designs and didn't actually go through the manga pages.
Absolutely love the voice of Dr. Gero.
I think "You are most Unkind" came from Xiaolin Showdown at least I think I recall Omi saying it at some point. But this episode really worried me because Nail originally said that he would fade into Piccolo's subconscious sooner or later and this episode took place after two years which would have been plenty of time for that to occur. Naturally Nail not speaking this entire episode didn't help.
From what I could gather looking it up, Omi never says it.
The most unkind thing is likely an original line taka or someone else said out during scripting as a pitch.
The “ I was wearing my armor” line will always make me laugh since it implies that he sleeps in it as well
I love seeing these episodes! I love seeing all the things behind them, and cannot wait to see more! Also Yamcha is just....the most unfortunate dude in this whole show o.o Original and abridged.
18:00 "you are most unkind" sounds like something Omi would say from Xiaolin Showdown
