I had this EXACT bike when I was 8yrs old. Same color and kickback 2 speed. I still have the chain guard. Wish I had the bike to go with it!
That’s really neat! It would be nice if you tracked one down and fixed it up. Even if you found one that was missing parts. Maybe you could install your original chain guard even!
I have one for sale. Purple 1966 frame with a Bendix blue band OD. Mine has the ram-horn handlebars and a tall sissy bar. Rebuilt the transmission, greased the bearings, new brakes, new tires so the kids could ride it.
Great work and outcome!
Thank you!
Finally!
Fastest comment ever! And yes finally indeed! Lol thank you
Hope all good, enjoyed the restoration.....amazing!
All is good and thank you very much! :)
What a marvelous restoration of the beautiful Schwinn bike.
Your very knowledgeable of the restoration process. Job well done! Carefull on that 40 mph down hill ride.
Thank you! And I will!
I'm so psyched to see you back and working on this bike. It looks great, and I am glad to hear your back is on the mend. Looking forward to your feats of daring-do!
I’m glad to be back! I really appreciate it and I love the way it turned out! I’ll try to keep the “rubber side down and the shiny side up” for the next video lol thank you!
This looks like the exact bike my late brother had minus the 2 speed kick back, I have a really good picture of him and I With it.
I sold my entire schwinn collection since the last video and have a new hobby. Glad to see it get finished.
Changed it up? Well so long as your having fun!
I've owned up to 70 shwinns at 1 time I'm down to 50 and regret everyone I've ever sold! How could you do it?😊
She turned out beautiful.!
Thank you! It’s quite a sight!
❤❤❤ nice restoration, i love old Schwinns , every kid wanted a stingray when i was a kid .
Thank you! It wasn’t my era but I’m a big fan also. I’m probably the only lucky kid on my block with a Stingray 🙂
I use electrolysis for rust removal. Pits I generally solder or braze over. Electroplating is possible at home, but you need to do a lot of polishing. Never had the Schwinn sing ray but I did have the Sears Ted Williams version of a chopper bike. Once I grew tall the bike eventually was too small to ride and it sat in the garage. My parents must have thrown it away when I moved out. Had a slick rear tire, glitter banana seat, wheelie bar and glitter grips. When I was in Junior high I actually restored it down to taking the spokes off and polishing and straightening the wheels, 40 miles an hour on that thing seems suicidal.
Electrolysis is an excellent idea! I haven’t done it myself but I’ve seen videos and it seems to produce awesome results. Sorry to hear you lost your old bike back then but I think it would be neat for you to track down the same bike and do a restoration project again. I guarantee you’d feel like a kid again! The high speed videos come with a little bit of risk but it was worth it :)
Awesome tutorial! U Go U DareDevil!
Lol thank you!
Wow that looks amazing all put together! The wide whites and violet are fantastic!
Thank you! I agree. Schwinn’s designers had great taste back in the 60s!
@@GoodTimeBikes For sure and good luck on that hill! Sounds like a lot of fun, definitely need to hunt one down to ride as well.
Thank you and I hope you find a Stingray! They’re a lot of fun to ride and great for cruising around car shows during the summertime 🙂
@@GoodTimeBikes Maybe one of those too but I mean the hill, how steep of a hill is it that you would need for such speeds?
@@Polara. oh lol ..I live in Illinois so I’ll likely have to go out of state for the next video. I don’t know of any such terrain in the flat state of IL that’ll get a 20” bike moving that fast. I hit 42.8 mph on a mountain bike in Tennessee so if I have to I can go back there but I hope to find something a little closer. I’ll ask on the road bike groups/forums. I bet they’ll know haha
Good job! Enjoyed the video
Thank you!
Grest job!!
Thank you!
Well done!!! I'm glad you left the STP sticker on the chainguard. Wonderful video! Thanks.
Thank you! I’m glad too and I wish I kept the one on the fender also but now now I know for next time :)
Just recently found your videos. These bikes really bring me back. We had a family owned Schwinn dealership in Bethlehem PA. I have a small collection of Stingrays and other stuff. Recently I restored a LIl Chik, and am currently restoring a 1970 Varsity. You do nice work!
@@ericschultz3670 thank you! That’s really cool that you have a personal history with Schwinn. Also it’s nice to hear about other people keeping these bikes on the road! 👍🏼
wow that was epic
Thank you!!
That was a good one ! 🤘😆🤘❗
Awesome! Thank you!
Greetings from UK. What a wonderful job you did with that bike.very impressive indeed
Hi! Thank you very much! It’s been fulfilling and a lot of fun to ride.
Very nice, glad to see it done!
Definitely! It’s a good feeling and thank you!
I'm all about using my original parts as much as I can, even if it means they still show a little age after polishing. I feel it kind of keeps the bike looking like it's got a story to tell. That being said, the Stingray I learned how to ride on is restored and immaculate and I have plenty of trophies I've won with it, so to each their own. Lol.
I agree. The imperfections certainly add to the story of the bike. Restored or not it’s really cool that you still have your old bike and that’s more than most guys can say!
WOW👌
Thank you!
Such a beautiful bike. I love the slow-motion of the seal of APPROVAL, THE SCHWINN head badge! Flip the seat mount in front around it will give alittle more room on that shorty frame.
Thank you and I’m glad you enjoyed it! I was researching how it came from the factory and it seems like it’s acceptable either way but I’m not tall (I don’t know if you can tell from the videos lol) so it feels good for me
@Good Time Bikes I hear ya ! Regardless it looks amazing my friend! I have a blue 1969 deluxe I love it.
@@oldguyBMX Sky Blue, very nice! I’d like to find one of those someday 👍🏼
Great restoration, entertaining and learned a lot.
I appreciate that thank you! Hopefully it was helpful for any projects you may have.
Nize video, I have 2 1959 Schwinn bikes to "rehab" since I would never want to repaint etc, some good tips as I have 3 2 speed kick backs.
That’s really neat! I’m glad to hear this video was helpful and that you’ll be saving the original paint. Have fun with refurbishment and have fun riding them! 👍🏼
Wow that was so cool watching it and the bike looks fantastic.
Hey Ed! Thank you! Also thanks for the parts! That was your chain and stem in the video :)
Thank you for taking so much time to make these fun and informative videos. The bike turned out really nice. Your next Stingray project will go much quicker and smoother I imagine. My favorite vid thus far. Helmet!! 40mph needs helmet, kidney belt and maybe some pads just in case.
Thank you for watching and I really appreciate the support! Not every bike will be a Stingray BUT I always want to be entertaining so everyone can enjoy it. I will definitely have a helmet. One that matches the 60s era like the helmet Evil Knievel wore :)
Been waiting for this video!!!!!
Sale me your springer fork
Thank you! I think it’s my coolest video yet! About the fork I think for what I’d get for it I don’t think I’d both to sell it. Idk I’m still holding on to it
Dope restoration. Please don't hurt yourself though, we want to see more videos!
Thank you! And I’ll will definitely try not to! 🙂
@GoodTimeBikes do you restore bikes for clients?
@@chrisbrightwell940 to this extent? No. Not yet anyway.
Omg you are a perfectionist I have so many old bikes but I don't think I have the courage to take a hub apart or put spokes back on properly.
I appreciate that very much! Where there’s a will there’s a way. Not every bike needs this attention, just so long as they’re well taken care of and enjoyed!
bout to do my own. we have malvern star here and speedwell
You’re guaranteed to have fun! I assume you’re outside the U.S.?
Well, going 40 mph is not as fast as I was going through. When my brake cable broke in half inside my brakes case when I was going down St. Croix Falls between Minnesota and Wisconsin when I was young during the 80s. My friend and I were heading out to my Dad's cabin in Wisconsin. I've had some how Managed to make it down the hill and cruising between 50 and 65 miles per Hour without having any Sort of problems with bumped in vehicles or people who are walking around on the right side of the road to look over the river. All I know is that I would not want to go through that again. Note; If any other person who is planning on a long-distance road trip. Best of go replaced your brakes cables before you go. Because of that, I have truly learned a very important lesson.
But were you on a Stingray? :)
But yes either way that could have been a problem with pedestrians in the area. Glad it worked out in your favor!
Great job! where did you find the seat cover? looking for a Lemon peeler seat cover thx
Check out koolest.com and thank you!
I know this video came out about a year ago but I wanted to ask you how did you find tires for your bike? My wife is trying to restore a 1963 schwinn and the tire size is odd. Do you know of a good website to look on for those?
Which brand whitewall tires are those
The brand is Duro
Your are a "sick man" thank you.
Lol thank you 😂
Do you sell refurbished Schwinn front and back wheels for a 20” bike?
I’m sorry but I don’t have any
