No perimeter brake? That's one thing that makes a Buell a Buell.
Exactly.
yeah I'm sorta sad about that part and have expressed it to them. But we'll have a more reliable Brembo setup. Also there will be options outside of the base model introductory release.
Its heavy.
I was never a big fan of the look but I understand the functionality. Regardless, I don’t mind that the super cruiser won’t have it. They should’ve been more open on suspension vendors and exhaust suppliers. I emailed SC Project and they claim they have no plans with Buell currently. Gonna have to wait and see what transpires.
@@JAyy781 expect little support in year 1. Roland used his pipe and outfitted a SC muffler, it was repurposed from another project, he explains it in his video.
I'm probably their biggest fan, but I'm so over not having an idea of how the engines will be manufacted. From my understanding all their prototypes utilize leftover parts recieved from the purchase of the company. It's extremely easy to fuck this all up. I also live in Oregon and ABS is a must on consistently rainy oily roads (it's literally like ice). I'm at the point of just buying a GSX-S1000GT for a superbike touring bike. I don't want to stress. It's also $12,000 cheaper 😢
Oh that 1000GT is nice. I also like the V100 Mandelo from Guzzi. But yeah Bill Melvin Jr. CEO is a liquidation specialist not a manufacturer so I’m sure he’s leaning on past documents like purchase orders and potentially former employees to navigate this.
@KennyQuestShow I joined a FB group for the V100 and it's jam packed with significant issues. Like broken off exhausts, head gasket leaks, coolant hose clamps that can't be reached, snapping rear shock recall, leaking drive hub seals, rocker arm rods coming undone, starter falling apart in the engines, and then there's the whole fact that Moto Guzzi doesn't like paying for warranty work and the shops are overwhelmed making it a 6mon process for a fix. It's a horror story. The most I saw with the GSX-S1000GT was a noisy timing chain with a cruddy auto tensioner, and cruise control activation. But customers bring their bikes in, a few days goes by, and their bike is good forever. That Suzuki is literally the only option currently for having your cake and eating it too. Sorry for the long reply haha
@@backroadbeetle4781 Suzuki GT1000+ for the win then!
@@KennyQuestShow it's just so ugly 🥺
@@backroadbeetle4781 it looks like a Japanese sport bike. 😌
Keep providing in depth videos like this sir!
👍🏼thank you for watching!
Chris not correcting you on the engine is a giant red flag imo, even if he only has 6 months experience. Regardless, the price they’re asking vs what you get is wildly out of proportion.
It’s bananas 🍌
Great video! I’m in the same boat. I just like the cruise…the super cruiser would be cool but probably more bike than I need.
I mean a little throttle now and again isn’t a bad thing, is it? But I don’t need all the bandwidth to have fun out there!
As minor as it may seem to some, I have a feeling the lack of a perimeter front brake is going to be a deal breaker for a lot of people.
I agree.
I actually think deleting the perimeter brake is a plus. Yeah, you can lighten the wheel with a perimeter brake, but it brings other issues
You’re probably right, it just takes away from the Buell character we’ve come to know, like a springer front end on a Harley, you look for it.
@@KennyQuestShow Springer Front ends were outdated by the 1950's ..
@@mikeskidmore6754 it’s an analogy
I’m diehard Buell fans and they blew it on the adventure bike. All they needed to do was take a stock Ulysses and fit the engine! I wouldn’t mind ditching the perimeter brake on the adventure is that means it comes with a 21 inch or even an 18inch front rim. I currently own a 2009 Ulysses and IMHO it was a very underrated motorcycle
Ulysses is legendary
I'll just cruise on my sportser like you do all bikes are fast as long as I can take on the cars i'm OK
Exactly!
Where did you get the info that they eliminated the dual injector system? Not sure why they plan on ditching the perimeter brake, even if the performance is not quite up to par as a dual setup (only relevant during track days).
During my interview with a Buell engineer, the information is disclosed at timestamp 6:50 of this video ua-cam.com/video/TNyFvaAGiz0/v-deo.htmlsi=s0BKNGL9zgpmN5zS
@@KennyQuestShow Appreciate that! Also, in case you were curious I just got confirmation from a Buell rep that the move to dual disc is to keep up with global export requirements.
@@leward interesting…must be a new requirement
I recently got an email from them asking for the 1000 dollars down to hold my super cruiser i asked for a list of specs, parts manufacturers, heres the reply i received
We are currently working on finalizing Super Cruiser details, and will be sure to update everyone as soon as possible!!!
Same. They said they’ll announce their suspension vendor next week and will release version 3 of their production sample bike early next year.
The single brake setup is not better then the traditional design. I'm not surprised to see them finally letting go of that gimmick
Gimmicky and more expensive. It’s not a super bike and track focused like thier hammerhead super bike.
@KennyQuestShow that is true. If there was a place to have it, it was on the super cruiser and not the high performance models. Still tho, I know a few buell owners and the front brake is always a complaint lol
@@adventurevehiculist gotcha.
As a sportster owner myself I think of a second bike all the time (keeping my sporty😊) and buell was an option at 20k… they lost me at 24k… now I’m seriously looking at the Indian FTR it has a 2k discount at the moment so is around 14k to 18k right in my budget, with all the riding aids you can think of, it looks amazing and warranty is 24months and I have two dealerships within 50 miles !!
There ya go! Fun bike for sure!
Great job drilling down.
Thank you!
We all knew it was too good to be true
Everyone likes an underdog
Sounds a bit expensive unless you consider that EBR's were up in the $40,000.00 range it seems I recall.
They really need to stick with the single outside Disc Brake.. My 2008 Buell Ulyesses has Chinese wheels on it .. A rear wheel bearing failed at 18,000 miles.. I found out that Buell upgraded to 3 larger wheel bearings instead of two smaller wheel bearings in 2009 or 2010 .. Buell did not stop Production in late 2009 when HD announced the Closing. I think they kept building more bikes from available parts through 2010.
The farther removed from the Buell lineage the bike will create its own identity. We’re at this point with the Super Cruiser. New frame, a modified Helicon derived power plant, bolt on parts from the warehouse parts bin that could be interchangeable with your favorite after market brand.
Damn, wanted that 1190SC to be the 1st new bike to purchase. Too bad it got the smack-down. I guess it'll be an Indian, now.
Salute
Cheers!
The Adjustable Showa suspension on my 2008 Buell Ulyesses works very well .. Your Air cooled HD engine is a boat anchor.
I know and I love it so
The Showa could show up on the Super Cruiser. Details coming soon look for announcement around Oct 1
I've heard the perimeter rotor tends to not last as long a dual rotor set up. I would prefer the single perimeter brake as long as a replacement rotor is reasonably priced
Not sure on that maybe some out there with an older EBR will know 🤔
I like the perimeter brake on my Buell. I heard from sport bike riders "oh one rotor. I have seen enough". I think the super cruiser looks like a honda rebel. I don't want something that looks like a Rebel. I thought Nascar was involved with the Buell engine heads when it went from 1125 to 1190. I am thinking about the Super Touring to replace my Ulysses. But want to ride one first. No perimeter brake would make a difference. When I can get 2 adv bikes for the price of one Buell. At least they aren't super expensive like Motus MST.
It does give off rebel vibes 😂 what do you think about the squared off aesthetic 🤖 on the Super Tourer?
I'm thinking 15 grand would be a fair price
More than fair!
The only service spot in Canada is in my home town of Calgary. Didn’t know that
Awesome!
The abs is bothering me. For my area it’s def needed. May have to get the $800 refund.
Noted! There are modes and traction control settings programmed into the ECM. I was told by the engineer they don’t have budget to hire a coder to reprogram the ECM.
I had a Buel. It was a fun bike, but the single brake rotor would fade when at the track.
That sounds concerning
I can't justify the Price of any New Harley other than maybe the Pan American. If you want a heavy Low Performance air cooled bike with a nice Paint Job, then you are buying mostly for prestige.
Pan AM is a fun bike to ride, perfect for the Harley enthusiast who doesn’t want to buy another brand to get liquid cooled higher revving performance.
@@KennyQuestShowThey tried that with the V-Rod but all the Harley “purists” were still against the fact that it was Porsche design liquid cooled motor. The problem with Harley is their consumers, boomers who are afraid of change and technology.
I'd much rather put a 1275 hammer on my sportster
Yaas!
Very interesting, thanks for the info. No matter the price I don't think I would buy on the first or the second year. But then I wouldn't buy one in the fifth year, not my thing.
You’re welcome, thanks for watching. Not sure if you’re in the majority but we’ll see.
Great video on the buell. I was talking to Pedro and he said yeah they may not be all that they said they would be. Go watch Kenny’s video. How dare you pull all that out of it. To me it isn’t the super cruiser then. We could take many other platforms and do exactly what they have done.
That’s what I alluded to, to some 75% of the Super Cruiser performance is good enough, others more or less. For naked bikes it’s easier their SX is ready at $18,999.90 comparable to a KTM super duke 1290 RR. For cruisers you can build a nice bike off a HD or Indian for same money and have the cool parts to show for it.
Well of course it wasn't going to come the same way it was advertised.
Concept bikes never do.
Put some saddle bags on that sportster. You, too, will be able to carry small Asian children in your saddlebags, like most Harley riders. DEI! 😂😂😂
Nah, I have those on my EVO heritage
This sounds like yet another end to Buell......
We’ll see.
Not sure how tall you are but the only thing I really hate about my sportster is at 6’ tall I am cramped. I will probably stretch my sportster in the future to be honest.
6ft. I adjusted the foot controls slightly, for longer rides I have a bung king highway bar to stretch out on. Less cramped on it than all the current mid control softails.
I was interested in the Roland Sands design, not this crap they are selling now. Too bad.
Straight to the heart of the matter!
Very rare for a prototype bike/car to be remotely identical to a production model. Buell did a good job (so far) with keeping as original to the prototype as possible IMO
harley just needs a put in Pan American Motor in the Harley S I don't like radiators but they can sell it for $5000 less and kill this **** bike 150 horsepower for eighteen grand I'll take it
Bring on the Bronx S! Or a Pan America S!
I would have spent 35k on that Roland Sands bike, but I'm not interested in this crap.
I think that’s a fair price for the Roland Sands version. Though many speculate it did cost Buell well over $50k for it
guess i'm just gonna get a Dyna Low Rider S, or, a built out FXR. disappointing.
Outside of the weight difference you’d have an awesome build with either! Use carbon fiber wheels to save weight!
Consider an early 99-05 fxdx
I was with you till you said sportster lol.
🤣😂
Good Move, this will probably be a pure shit-show of problems, as any new first year Bike is. And with no real Dealer Network, it smells like alot of pending hassle
Grab some popcorn it will be dramatic
I bought a 2016 Yamaha FZ-07 in 2017 for $7,400.00 It eats Sportsters for lunch every day .. My Ohlin Cartridge kit cost $650.00 I still need to install a K-Tech shock on the rear. I never saw anyone ride a Sportster on a track day . I did my first Track day this summer age 63 then I hit a deer and have not been back for a second one.
I passed everyone I encounter on Tail of the Dragon including many slow as sin Harley's who were too rude to pull off on the dozens of paved pull off parking areas.
I was a snow ski racer and I raced some Motocross and I watch youtube videos how to ride. In two afternoons on Tail of the Dragon I really improved my cornering skills and confidence for an FZ-07 it was all second and third gear riding .. Not all that dangerous at lower speeds .. The biggest danger is a car or motorcycle coming from the opposite direction in your lane. Because face it there are a few Idiots out there.
I head that my Aluminum Fuel in Frame: Frame was made n Italy on my 2008 Ulyesses.
The FZ/MT07 is a great bike. No question it will rip on the streets.
@@KennyQuestShow I outgrew the power of the FZ-07 but it cost less can get up to 58 MPG ..is smaller and lighter than most models.
Luggage racks and Luggage cost me $2,000 more I paid $4,500 for the Buell and it came with side cases , a top case and a windscreen that had terrible buffering .. I upgraded to a Modstad windscreen that is more like a 2009 Buell Windscreen .
The exhaust has to be that way to save a ton of money on homologation, and turn signals and lights for the same reason.
The dash is fine even if it's old.
And the sportster s is such a like of trash it's not even a comparison..
Also so long as it keeps the 17 inch rims if happy.
Oh one more seriously the not black brake and clutch? It's sport bike style
Yeah I thought black sporty levers, adjustable would be perfect. The engineer said, nah BOM reuse, folks are just going to change them out anyways. So tell me I’m buying a starter kit without saying I’m buying a starter kit at fully completed bike money.
@@KennyQuestShow so....any Harley?
@@orenovadia6590precisely. So the engine and lighter frame is the value proposition that is costing $6k over the FXLRS or Indian Sport Chief with less warranty coverage and less third party part options.
@@KennyQuestShow yes absolutely and exclusivity, you can't compare them even, one is an ancient air cooled maybe 100 HP on a good day over 600 pounds and longer by a few inches not to mention the suspension and tires..
The super cruiser is a cruiser shaped sport bike, if anything I'd rather it have standard brakes so it'll be easier to get pads. And even if I go sportster s I've ridden it and it's not a sport bike it is in my opinion not road worthy but even so it's 50!!! HP down
🤘🤘🤘
⚡️⚡️⚡️
You can get a sportser s for like what 15 120 horsepower and reliable I do like the looks of the spike better kind of it's not worth $26 thousand dollars I'm very disappointed I was looking forward to this bike I'd much rather just go buy a low rider s
I believe you’re in the consensus with that opinion.
Sadly will become another over priced bike....rather stick with my VTX1800
Noted!
Im about to do my deposit and i would really like to know where the bike is, Final, Final? You can because your not paying a Union dude 80K to do something an 18 year old kid can do.
No information on if they are hiring union workers. V3 of the production concept will be released, Buell says in early 2025.
@@KennyQuestShow What I mean is Harleys are so over priced because the are way over paying to have them built by union workers. Around 82k
@@LJSiarahh. It’s hard for companies to reduce price once they get people accustomed to paying X price. Sadly if production moved to Taiwan and it reduced cost of goods sold they’d pocket the difference.
@@KennyQuestShow Or, Or you set up shop in Texas. No income tax, no cooperate tx, no pay roll tax.
@@LJSiar or Montana
The Super Cruiser is a joke. H-D will make a touring framed sportier bike like the original FXR touring. They already have the parts between the Road King and Low Rider ST. The touring frames have similar if not exact swing arm geometry as the original FXR, and can handle the unbalanced larger motors like the 121 and 135 crate motor. If the potential H-D comes out around $25,000 it’s over for Buell. It’s funny one of the key optical style points of this Buell is the triangulated frame, which of course Erik Buell helped develop when he was at H-D for the FXR. I’m sure H-D has been watching.
Exactly.
They went bankrupt once
Twice actually, but who’s counting. ☺️
You seem really confused about this bike. Yes, it's more expensive than an Indian Sport Chief. It has double the horsepower and it's 200 lbs lighter. They aren't even comparable bikes. You should do a little research before making videos.
I’m not confused at all. I understand power to weight ratio, physics. The question I proposed is value. But Okay I’ll play your version, substitute Indian Sport Chief for Super Duke 1290 RR.
They change these things for all I care. I can't afford one anyway and will only ever be an unobtainable dream for a broke ass carpenter like me. I'm stuck with a 75 HP 650 lb early model dyna 😂.
But still that’s an awesome bike!
@@KennyQuestShow for sure love my dyna, its no super cruiser though . Would be nice to see these new bikes be more affordable. 25-30k for a motorcycle just seems like robbery.💯
@@omw2fymom76for us regular folk it’s do what you can with what you have. The M8 platform provides plenty room for HP and the new frame handles great. If your considering something newer than your Dyna there are many 2018-2020 FXLR Low Rider’s that are going for $10-14k, FXST Standards 2020-22’s $9-10k, Sport Glide’s $12-$14k. Then build them up from there.
