I was in Daytona in 2022 and saw the bikes. I actually interviewed one of the engineers. They are an impressive bunch. The bikes were well designed and well built. I have been waiting for the launch to test ride one.
They’ve done a good job at seamlessly transitioning from EBR to new Buell with the street bikes. Looking forward as well to a demo on the Super Cruiser.
I am taking delivery and will be putting Sept 12th in my calendar to put my $1,000 deposit down. My other Buell has been lonely long enough for its younger brother.
As a former EBR owner of 3. I am very nervous that there has been zero mention of engine changes. The original EBR had a ton of flukey quirks that resulted in blown engines. I want to know what has been done to prevent that for the newer models of BUELL
Great Question. The Super Cruiser features a design influenced by the Rotax Helicon of former Buell offerings, the oversquare engine 1190cc 72 degree V-twin makes a sky high 13:1 compression ratio on pump gas. Whatever you've read about EBR engines since 2014 holds true to today, except for the Super Cruiser they had to shed some size to make the engine fit into the new frame which reduced 10hp in performance according to the enginer I interviewed in this video ua-cam.com/video/2hdJVMZsRnM/v-deo.html
@KennyQuestShow I'm well aware of the history. I worked with NCCR for a little while. The engines were overbored and suffered from cracking under unique circumstances there were aftermarket prevention modifications available. I can't buy one unitl I find out that they have fixed the issues that caused you to have a bomb between your legs at 80 mph
A company that acts like they're doing you a favor! A great marketing ploy to basically roll out not at the end of one season for riders, but two riding seasons!
Nice if you live in the states, sucks for us that live in New Zealand. Will cost way more and shipping will be out the gate. But beautiful bike and good to see Buell going hard.
I seen one reference about the Hammerhead having an on-board full Diagnostics in the computer. I hope it is true and I hope Buell does this with all of their bikes. I would put Buell at the top of my list just for this feature. It should be available for all motor vehicles and the fact that it is not is Criminal. If Buell builds in full Diagnostics with every bike it would be a game changer. People are sick of bringing their bike to a dealer for every single engine light and service. It's a racket.
The ECM and interface is the same EBR unit manufactured by a Wisconsin company, they have remaining stock. It’s circa 2014, but you can see your codes, you can clear them on your own. I played with the unit on one of the Super Cruiser production demos. The engineer I spoke with also said there is no money to update this software or the interface at this time. You get what you get.
It's nice that Buell is still cooking. The deposit, and wait time is the same as Harley use to be after it went public and the Evo was all the craze. A 1000 bucks is fair. It shows good faith. It's business. Be lucky for the 80% refund. There are guys out there that never received a refund from their HD dealer once upon a time. You get what you pay for with Buell, going all the way back to the Battle Twin. Hell, I even saw a Buell Blast the other day. They're out there.
I've been looking a Xdiavels. They are such cool bikes. The one I have my eye on is a 2017 with fairly low miles. I just wonder if maintaining one would put me in the poor house. The nearest Ducati dealership is over 100 miles away from me and those machines look complicated to work on. What has been your experience in this department? Does the bike cost a ton to maintain and does it need work often? I ride a lot and do cross country rides a few times a year, so having a reliable bike is paramount to me.
@@dnbsoldier7259 mine is a 2021 and it has almost 18k on the odometer. They are expensive to service. About $1,400 for the 9k service and I just had the 18k service done, which was $2,400. I love the bike and it’s been super reliable. Rear tire lasts 3-4K and there aren’t a lot of options for the 240/45 zr17 size. Oil change is $100 if you do it yourself. They are unique! good luck and safe riding
Damn was hoping this would come in around the 21-22k mark, I’m sure it’s amazing but that’s high price with no creature comforts! I get it’s a more muscle cruiser bike but damn .
Well it isnt $30K which i was gonna turn down. And for early birds like myself, i get a $2K discount. Sucks for people who cant afford this. I can, and damn it feels good to be successful in life! I get to rip around in this bad ass cruiser that not everyone will have. Cant wait!
@occlusion6557 told them the Buell Super Cruiser, and somehow they were able to find it and determine. A close friend of mine who is in the prototype industry said when their company gets EPA/DOT approval, it automatically goes into insurance's system. So Buell must have just accomplished that.
In 2022 i looked at getting a $200 toe jack. Bought it in 2023 for $300. Just looked at the price today for one. It's $500 now. Securing this bike this month for 23k. Is a steal when you consider how fast the dollar is losing purchase power. By delivery in 2026. The bike will be selling for north of 50k.
I can understand being disappointed in no Ohlins suspension being on offer, but anyone who expected it to come with an optional SC Project exhaust just isn’t being realistic
There wasn’t much hope for the exhaust, frenched tail light, fairing, risers, stabilizer or the Dunlop tires. Suspension is still open, they have not officially released that information.
I’m down, price is 2-3k higher than it should be but hopefully they are pricing it fairly and I would imagine to run and build bikes like this in the USA is high. I placed a deposit in the first few days it was announced, I’m definitely going to do it despite the price. This thing is going to rip! I sat on it at Sturgis this month. Fits well, I’m 6’3”.
I’m on the wait list and got the email but I got big time concerns now. I’m in CA and looking on Buels service map there’s only one in my state. So if there issues I’m screwed.
Yeah I saw the coverage map, it’s growing slowly. Did you give them 3 dealer names when you placed your slot order? Perhaps reach out to them and advocate for yourself and ask them if they’d be willing to take on the responsibility if they say yes or something close to yes immediately call Chris Pobanz (his number is in the video) and Chris will get them settled in. My 2 cents.
I appreciate what they are trying to do . But like everyone else is saying it’s outrageous for the price . I’m happy that they are trying to make a comeback . Maybe Harley should get more involved .
@@wtsherman9378 they did. No respect for that line during the machismo pro street, fat tire chopper years. Even today they won’t release the Bronx, a bike where there is professed demand.
Did put down the $1000.00 but have concerns about what the final version (production scale) bike will look and sound like. The current exhaust looks and sounds awful IMHO. They are obviously making lots of changes to address costs, rider input and 50 state requirements. Bummed to see they are a bit behind schedule and a little annoyed we don't know how much more it will cost at the "dealership" The good news is the bike is a great idea and should sell like hotcakes if done right. Worth giving them a chance for now.
You’re only out $250 with your two deposits at this point and the cash flow will help them make the first few final version production bikes due to be released next February. You have to treat today’s Buell as a crowd source start up, besides left over parts and access to past engineering this is a new Buell, a new venture. Expect hiccups.
It’s a badass motor, but they missed the mark that was the RS bike. The exhaust, suspension… they used the parts bin to build a cruiser at this point. I’m sure it’ll be a blast to ride, but plenty of badass bikes with top shelf parts at that price range or less.
parts bin for some of the best on the market, and it equates for reliability. I don't want a bunch of proprietary parts and an extra $10k stuck onto the cost like buying an Arch.
@@backroadbeetle4781 Beull Management, that you? Bc no one would want the horrible, after thought look of an exhaust over the one on the RS bike. Even less would choose the suspension setup used in the final product. $26,000 buys A Lot of bike, it should afford what was the production of the RS bike.
I own a few bikes including a couple of performance HD builds (TC streetglide and Dyna LRS) both rippers. I really dig this bike from Buell and a big fan. I just can't get past their "here today & gone tomorrow". Every time I see EBR / Buell pop back in the scene, they're gone in a flash along with parts. Id love to get one, but no way in hell I'd be on a pre-order list! They're gonna have to come out and stick around before I'm dropping 25k on one. Sorry, just facts.
I agree. I think these look like fun bikes; light weight and fast. I also love they are made in America, but it appears to be more of a sports bike than an actual cruiser. If I ever wanted a more sporty bike to park beside my Low Rider S, I would definitely check Buell out.
Honestly as a long time buell rider(2003) and fan. I'm not sure about this without Erik. I hoping the super cruiser is actually a super cruiser. Not their cruiser (they tweaked everything rsd did) I'll stick with my ebrs (and buells) till they have a year or two under their belt(buell has a history of going belly up) but very hopeful for this new bull
This one is a value engineer of a custom design by Roland Sands. Now they’re trying to find an economical fit for their production. Outside of some bits Erik Buell or his team designed that are BOM reuse his finger prints are practically absent.
I think that in order to make the bike capable of handling the 175HP, they're going to have to sacrifice a whole lot of the cruiser riding experience. Sub-500 lbs and mid controls are more what you'd expect on a naked sportbike. Lots of fun, but it won't FEEL like a cruiser. That seems like kind of a niche market product.
You are supposed to be tethered to a shop, upon pre-order they ask you for three shops that you prefer doing business with, they reach out to those shops and vet them for buell dealership or service only center. Presently on their website there is a dealer & service locator. About 35 locations spread across the country
I have a 2021 FXLRS that I paid $17.5k for new. A year ago it was worth something, today not so much. Not sure what to do. Maybe pay the $1000 and put the decision off and risk the non refundable $200. If the FXLRS was worth what it was a year ago I would be in.
It’s worth 14-15k in my area (Central Florida), 20% depreciation isn’t uncommon. Considering a 2016-2017 FXDLRS are going for 13-14k in my area you’re probably not going to drop another 10% by the time the super cruiser arrives. If you connect with a Buell reseller that also takes trades you’ll get 8-10 for it. Selling it in my area in 2025 I’d expect to get $11-12k for a stock one, a few bucks more if equipped with a stage I or II.
$25,900 for a "cost efficient" chock full of BOM REUSE stripped down cruiser, anyone with a lick of financial sense will get a rebel 1100 or if they've got that money they're getting either a Harley or an Indian. Really missed the mark on this, they had an opportunity to undercut the competition and get riders in, but their heads' in the clouds with that price.
They just don’t have the means to run at a loss for a couple selling seasons to “buy” riders away from the established brands. Early adopters are going to be “believers” in Buell, made in USA, David over the Goliath. It’s the story and the bike. You gotta buy both.
@@artyomroukas4664 this bike is literally 2k more than a low rider s with the cali package but with a lot better specs and better parts. It’s a deal for the people who buy these kind of bikes.
You could buy a Rebel 1100 (same modern form factor) for your cruiser needs, AND a Suzuki GSX-S1000GT+ for your touring and/or cruise missile needs for the same money as the Buell Super Cruiser. The SC is a really cool bike, but it's hard to justify the price tag on it. I'm not entirely convinced that people will want a 175HP cruiser when they already have options like the Suzuki M109R (130HP) for $16K that pushes the limits of how much performance you can actually get out of a cruiser. You reach a point where it's like putting a Dodge Hellcat motor in a minivan. Sure, you have 700HP, but how much of that power can the minivan actually exploit? (Don't get me wrong, I lust after the SC, but even if I had $26K to play with, I'm not sure that's what I'd do with the money)
@@isaacwykes636 I've owned a 2019 Lowrider. I could take it to 1 of 4 factory certified dealers within 30 miles if my home. Plus, apples to oranges with the S model as it's not stripped down.
Hey Kenny! Thanks for the video. I placed my pre-order deposit back in Feb. of 2023, and I plan on placing the $1,000 production deposit as well. Hopefully, I was one of the first. I am definitely nervous what this bike will officially be, but I am willing to take the plunge. It will be the start to my UA-cam channel. I am currently riding the last Dyna, 2016 FXDLS. Maybe we can make some comparison videos with them if you are interested.
I wish them luck. We definitely need more competition. Made in America is a huge plus. But the bike just isn’t for me. I’m a Harley guy. But I know this thing is a beast and fun to play with.
Cheaper than I though. People buy Harleys and Indians for a lot more money. The special parts, that was a given. No way you can make those viable on a first run.
@@craige2574 they never said under $20k, initially it was 20-25 as I reported during bike week 2023, then 25-30 in motorcyclist magazine article, then at bike week as I reported “mid to high twenty’s” is what they said. It’s all documented.

@KennyQuestShow I bet Texas would be more affordable on labor and taxes for the plant. I believe the Low rider S sells around 20k. And the sport glide was 21k. Though buyers would be getting a beafer bike. Except the stock exhaust change for obvious reasons. But they should work on making a custom order option for the original exhaust since the production delay.
Personally I do not find the price offensive. If it said Harley Davidson on the side it would be 35k-40k before taxes and dealer fees. While I do find the exhaust super ugly, I get why they did it. Why spend millions of R&D making an exhaust for one bike when regulations restrict you to the point it will be exactly the same as whats on the rest of the line up and everyone is just going to replace it anyway. Buell seems to be getting traction so I wish them success.
Modifying any current HD model to be of similar weight and performance would exceed the cost of what Buell has set the price at. That being said how many riders out there NEED this solution and how many riders out there will want this solution? 100-200? More/Less? It will be interesting to see.
I’m disappointed they went with dual disc instead of the large front single rotor. As far as the exhaust, I knew they were not going to give us a good looking exhaust from the factory, granted I expected that. Hopefully the aftermarket comes out with one similar to the one RSD built
I don’t understand your response. Based on your video, the Base Model Buell Super Cruiser will come stock with standard fairing, Dual Disc front braking system, raw radiator, Saddlemen® seat. So I’m assuming they are not doing the single side brake rotor
@@vazquezga2023 you’re right that’s what they wrote on the release. It could be dual disc as in front and rear AND it could be a linked dual disc braking system.

I think I’m gonna wait for someone else to take the hit for new off the lot price and wait for someone to buy one and scare the shit out of em and sell it lol
If they are only doing preorders on bikes, will there be any replacement parts on the market in 2-4 years? Or will it be like my 2006 blast where China or random eBay seller #5104 picking me up?
The parts they have now, to my understanding are what Bill Melvin bought in the liquidation sale and new parts that are unique to the super cruiser and engines will be ordered new from the suppliers at low volume levels to satisfy demand. Sorry for the delay in my response YT held your comment for review due to the eBay reference.

After my interview with their engineer at Bike Week this year I was disappointed to learn the amount of value engineering that was going on, but considering this is basically a start up enterprise I get it. It’s up to the people to determine if the value is there.

I heard that Buell has been putting bikes together from left over EBR parts. The Video Harley Davidson is shutting down Buell Video shows them filling Dumpsters with new wheels ect when HD spent $116 Million to shut down the new Buell Factory in East Troy WI. When HD owned Buell I think the Engines were built in Austria by Rotax. I later heard that Eric Buell brought the tooling back to the USA to build the 1190 EBR's in the USA. I think they call it the Halicon engine. Originally 1125 cc's Throwing away all of those wheels into a Dumpster made me cringe. They were made in China no less. I bought a 2008 Ulysess in 2022 with 15,000 miles in it. The first thing that failed on me was rear wheel bearings. When I went to install a new rear tire I noticed one wheel bearing was dry. I was going to order new wheel bearings, but the wheel bearing failed the first time I rode it after installing a new rear tire. I searched the Bull Blogs and learned that Buell upgraded to 3 larger wheel bearings from two small ones. There are two wheel bearings on the belt side of the wheel. Buell sold a Kit with a new rear wheel, 3 wheel bearings.. spacers a new axle and seals all under one part number. I managed to find this rear wheel upgrade kit at an NOS warehouse. They have old John Deere and Caterpillar parts too. With sales tax and shipping it cost me close to $800.00 .. I thought it would be nice to not have to worry about rear wheel bearing failures on a trip .

I'm starting to worry about what kind of business plan they have chosen. £19k for a Super Cruiser without Öhlins suspension, SC-Project, and an old display... Indian Classic or Triumph Bobber are £13k. They should lower their prices to those of their competitors in order to sell as much as possible and thus make a quick profit, so that they have enough money for other projects or to refresh existing elements to today's standards. At the start, they want to make as much money as they can and this is not a good plan at all, especially looking at the kind of history Buell has. I wish them the best but that it doesn't end up like that story about the tortoise and the hare.
I’m fairly certain they are planning for lower sales numbers than the bigger brands would expect for a similar product launch so they are going with the make a gross profit of 3-4k+ per unit
For $26k, I thought this is another over priced low rider s…but I looked at the weight at 430lb…hey wait…this just might be worth the price. For sports bike enthusiasts with Vtwin fetish, it normally costs up ward of $40k to build and customize one…and another $10k to lighten up the frame to bring the weight down to 400lb area…but this comes with it. This isn’t for typical cruiser rider - it will be more or less for Dyna clans wet dream job.

The inroads Ducati etc., made to the younger generation will tell, whether there really is a market for this kind of bike. I like the competition and look forward to hearing more from Buell. That said, I am an old school classic guy, and I would not purchase one, but I worry about the culture of motorcycling, and hope somehow, a younger generation get attracted to it to keep it alive.

The key word is "affordable". When the cheapest Harley or Indian is $13K, then they immediately jump to $16K+, neither company is going to attract new and/or young riders. Meanwhile Honda has the Rebel 1100 for $11K and the venerable Shadow for $8500, and Suzuki has the C50 for $9K. All three of those bikes are way more affordable and approachable for new riders.
Maybe in a few years they’ll have distribution there or much closer.

I agree. I think these look like fun bikes; light weight and fast. I also love they are made in America, but it appears to be more of a sports bike than an actual cruiser. If I ever wanted a more sporty bike to park beside my Low Rider S, I would definitely check Buell out.
Yes indeed.
It’s Sportster sized with a big twin engine
Honestly as a long time buell rider(2003) and fan. I'm not sure about this without Erik. I hoping the super cruiser is actually a super cruiser. Not their cruiser (they tweaked everything rsd did)
I'll stick with my ebrs (and buells) till they have a year or two under their belt(buell has a history of going belly up) but very hopeful for this new bull

They just don’t have the means to run at a loss for a couple selling seasons to “buy” riders away from the established brands. Early adopters are going to be “believers” in Buell, made in USA, David over the Goliath. It’s the story and the bike. You gotta buy both.

Personally I do not find the price offensive. If it said Harley Davidson on the side it would be 35k-40k before taxes and dealer fees. While I do find the exhaust super ugly, I get why they did it. Why spend millions of R&D making an exhaust for one bike when regulations restrict you to the point it will be exactly the same as whats on the rest of the line up and everyone is just going to replace it anyway.
Originally 1125 cc's
Throwing away all of those wheels into a Dumpster made me cringe.
It is true the current line of bikes do use Buell/EBR NOS parts. That’s what the current owner paid for in a liquidation sale back in 2018.

@@filpnsweet its a copy of that copy that copied harley im right!
and the honda rebel isnt a good looking bike. imo
motorbike looks great
I put down 50 bucks when first announced and haven't heard shit

waiting to see them in the wild... don't like the stock exhaust, seat, or gas tank... why can't they just keep it how RSD designed it
Too much mulah for hooligan machine Sands built
That’s way too much. 26k just buy a Harley or Indian. It should be 16-18k
Their SX street fighter goes for $19k, doesn’t make sense to be at $26k
Guys, stop bitching about the price. A Low Rider S is so closely priced, and has less than half the performance. I cant wait to get mine.
🏁$7k less for half the performance. Equal price for a 128ci stage 4 equipped FXLRS that weighs 200lbs more. Yes the Supercruiser will wipe the street right from under a Low Rider S. Enjoy it!
don’t like the looks , but 25 k. are u kidding me !!!! like the hp numbers, there’s a big disconnect here BIG
In business school they taught us that once the perceived benefits of a product exceed the asking price a sale can be made. So apparently the perception is at Buell enough people find this is the case and Buell has it priced right.
@@KennyQuestShow been to business school in college too , a very smart man said it’s worth what you get in real estate…. time will tell my friend &. And the proof is in the pudding.
$25,900 for a motorcycle is outrageous. Nice looking bike but it’s not a motorcycle if it’s water cooled.
No air no flair, woo!
@@605pilot If it's not a motorcycle, what is it? Lol
I don't think you get to have 175HP and air-cooled at the same time. Also, the Honda Shadow, Fury, and the old VTX1300/1800 are/were all water-cooled, and they were proper cruisers.
If it isn't objectively a piece of shit, it isn't a motorcycle. Spoken like a communist lmao
They really need to lose the urine sample bottles on the handlebars.
Good call. Why can’t they obscure them with a colored container?
Im not digging the look of that tft display. Looks like a after thought.
It’s no TFT, its LCD with up-down-enter-next page-previous page hard button controls. it was designed in 2011 and has been used on every bike during the EBR days and carry’s over as BOM reuse for super cruiser.
Im gonna pass thanks.
No worries, ride safe!
Not a fan of the silver radiator.
Right? It was raw on the Roland Sands, then painted on the two production concept bikes. On the press release it states “raw radiator” 🤨
It is going to be 30K out the door. Who is their target consumer, especially in this economy? Unfortunately, I see a flop coming down the road for them.
Dyna bros who now earn a little more in their 40s and 50s and didn’t yet buy a FXLRS or those who want to revisit their hooligan phase.
@@KennyQuestShow and those that love American underdog comeback stories and don’t mind flipping the bird to woke fucks. My Shovel is for sale and I can’t wait to eat 50k Harley’s and shit Scouts!
I was on the fence, but Harley’s latest woke virus hissy fit pushed me to Buell for my next bike.
If you can take advantage of the Super Cruiser’s performance then Harley may have done you a favor!
A serious affordable and more/less “American” answer for declining interest in classic cruisers is needed.
Yeah I really haven’t seen the younger fellas buying Diavel’s or Rocket III’s. I see them on used Dynas, choppers, twin cam baggers.sport bikes, British standards. It’s a niche market for sure.
@@KennyQuestShow I think the younger are buying Scramblers more? Their commercials are specifically targeted at them, and I have to say, the Scrambler commercials are well done. Cheers!
@@AmericanSavageGarage-em2oy I haven’t seen that in person in my area but on the interwebs the hype is high on scramblers and dual sport type bikes
Plus the new Scout is what? 111 HP? Any new rider with half a brain knows to stay away from a bike with that much power when they're starting out.
@@edwardkeeter762 certainly a lot of truth to that.
I'm going to wait a while and see where this company is really going for them to be able to not keep up with production and take a while to get these bikes out I want to wait and see what trial and errors that people are having with this bike when it does come out and the reliability, my FTR has less power at 130 hp but definitely better design, has Olin suspension comes with it comes with pro taper bars digital touch screen dash all for 17,900 yes very disappointing that they don't come with all those goodies like he originally was stating at the events I'm sorry but Harley and Indian is definitely going to do this thing compared to them the bike is going to be so outdated by the time people get it great review
That’s a point I made in my 2024 update video, Harley could release the Vrod III in January for $19,999.00 with 150hp and 110 ft lbs and that’s good enough for 1000’s of potential super cruiser buyers
@@KennyQuestShow absolutely grate review
Lmao most of the bike is spare parts.... now give us 25k
Exactly. Pay up sucka!
$25k...nah
Noted!
Probably a great bike, but a little pricey.
It is up there in cost.
@@KennyQuestShow I'd like to see it a few grand less. Especially since we don't really know what kind of bugs there will be in the first few years.
@@jacklowe9017 $23900 now through November 12th. Unless you pick one up used in a couple years probably gone be the best price we’ll see.
@@KennyQuestShow we will have to see how the engines hold up over time tho. Hopefully they can handle the strain many will put them through. I'm not as hard on a bike as a lot of dudes out there. Another thing will be service on them. Who will fix em when they break, and how much of a hassle will that be?
@@jacklowe9017 they have a service directory up now on their website. But it’s hit or miss. If you order one they will ask you for 3 names of servicing dealers or shops you prefer to do business with and they will call them to ask them to become a Buell service center in order to support you and future clients in your area.
That Buell sound.. it ain't no Harley therefore we don't like it's chances targeting HD customers.
Harley V-twin engine sound is so recognizable and so central to the brand “potato-potato-potato.” hence HD made a huge loss on electric bikes not to mention having a recall of 700 out of the 1000 electric bikes made.
ps..Don't get us wrong, we've requested the CEO scalp for pushing woke ideology & the nosense of all electric by 2030.
As well as manufacturing overseas bikes targeted at the Asian market which aren't Harley but simply riding on the coat tails of an icon.
Harley attempted to patent its potato sound but the patent office said that’s not possible!
@@blackline-qf6fl Harley’s don’t even sound like Harley’s until you change the exhaust.
It’s just such an ugly bike - that engine looks terrible. Sorry, can’t ride a bike that looks like that. And that price? Is that a joke?
It’s not a misprint. That is the price. Air cooled engines are pleasing to the eye.
Too expensive.
It’s spicy for sure
🤣
😉
Lol the wait is over, now wait another year. Smh
The wait to reveal the bike will consist of parts bin parts is officially over
It looks like it’s going through an identity crisis. It also looks like it was made from a bunch of left over parts from a bunch of different bikes.
That it certainly is.
@@nrgrlsd9931 get used to seeing the back of it.
26 K, no dealer network, warmed over version of an fxr, no ohlins suspension, this “American” bike is dead on arrival. Is the rotax engine “made in America “? 😂
No Rotax is made in Austria. Buell modifies it (with permission) for their needs with different cams and such.
@@KennyQuestShow my point exactly.😂
