yet again you need to do research, the parent company SWM is building a small Harley for sale in China and also distribute Harleys in China, in return they have got the rights from Harley to build this bike, and they get it through emissions because it costs much less to build in China and therefore they can afford to spend the money to get it though the relevant tests, that and the fact it is a much bigger company that sell many times the amount of bikes across the world under various brand names, they are owned directly by the Shineray group which in itself is backed by a massive holding company, and yes I know this will never get mentioned as it is criticism and corrections but you could at least check and verify it for yourself

After many years of riding and many bikes I find myself loving the 2019 Moto Guzzi V7 which I've had for a couple of years now. I ride all through the year and have found this bike does everything I want it too, and isn't that what it's all about, having a bike that fulfills your needs, not trying to match your needs to a type of bike. I got it as a winter hack but fell in love with it and now it is the main bike I ride, selling my Yamaha XVS1300 and CB125. Great video Freddie 👍
I’ve been riding since 1976 and had carburettor bike from then until around 2005. Never had to rebuild carb in nearly thirty years apart from my crappy moped back in 76 which used to clog up with rust because of the bad bike design. The frame was the tank.

Companies invest much money in design and development and find it almost despicable for such blatant tactics, albeit that Harley has discontinued this line. Love the content!

Freddie, I owned a 1991 BMW R80RT years ago, it had the king and queen comfort seat, BMW heated grips, panniers and top box. With only 50hp they aren’t particularly quick but it was by far the most comfortable bike I’ve ever owned and would cruise all day at 80-90mph. The huge fairing kept the weather off you and the cylinders helped keep your feet warm in winter. The availability of spares is very good and they are far cheaper than vintage Japanese bike spares. Their reliability, easy maintenance and access for servicing makes them great practical classic bikes.
The BMW RS was the first mass produced sports touring motorcycle to be fitted with a fairing as standard and the R90S was the first mass produced motorcycle to be fitted with a nose fairing as standard. The airhead BMW’s were built to a very high quality standard and are capable of very high mileages. I’ve been lucky enough to have owned a couple in my time as well as an R850R oil head and all were reliable, easy to self service machines.
Hi Freddie. Love your videos. I have been riding 54 years and currently have a Triumph Speedmaster 1200, a beautiful, easy to ride bike that is comfortable in almost all situations.
Freddie, concerning Urals, they’ve come a long way in terms of reliability, but also in terms of price. I guarantee you the pounds required to buy one will shock you. And as far as pronunciation is concerned, I once had a rather robust Russian girl try to teach me how to say Ural properly, but there’s no way I could make those sounds.
The guy with the Yamaha Dragstar is right. Nothing wrong with carburettors, or points ignition. My 1979 Moto Guzzi Spada 1000 (owned since 2007) now has 68,000+ miles. No dealer servicing required (home serviced) , no abs or complicated electronics. No depreciation either, quite the opposite. In my 17th year of ownership now, not getting rid of it any time soon. Old school is cool
Really getting into Tuesday at Dobbs''!! All subscribers to the main channel should be here. Loved the Kawasaki my compatriat's son bought back for him. Kiwi's can be cool dudes that's for sure. But I would say that, being one. And the red CB1100X. They're just bloody gorgeous. Oh and the Moto Guzzi V9. As a (recently) past owner of a V7 Special and having travelled all around England and Wales and then Europe to Israel in the 80s on a V50II with a tank bag and an old back pack on a carrier, I applaud the owner for using his bike like that. First, it looks brilliant all geared up for a trip, and second, you can go anywhere on anything, and have literally the time of your life while you're doing it.
50+ years of bikes - NSU Quickly S2 - Yamaha U5a - BSA Bantam D7 Another D7 , CZ 175, Jawa 350 type 360, Jawa 350 635 with Squire sidecar, Jawa 350 635 with Velorex sidecar, Triumph Bonneville T140E …. Another 30 bikes …. Including BMW R75/5, BMW K75S BMW R100RS, Royal Enfield Bullet 500 , Can-Am Bombardier 250, now Triumph T100S (Meriden) MZ ETZ251, Triumph Street Twin, Honda C90, Honda C100 (1963) Royal Enfield Himalayan & CCM MT250 . Nothing big or flashy but I guess I stayed the course!
hahaha I pretty much owned the same line up ! no side cars Bmw 650 only, D7 and a D14 have 2 bullets now and when I was a YOOF, when I was doing me mechancs training if I fooled around , I got put on the NSU quickly as a punishment ... I can add , Cr250r ( i raced) Honda h100 ( lost me licence ) I loved the can am ( military model ) and I canalso add a Triumph terrier 150cc ( 40 years of motorcycling! )
Great episode as always, Freddie! Would you consider the high mileage beemer at the end as a channel bike and a project to see how many more miles you could put on it? It would, in my opinion, make for interesting viewing.
I used to keep my 1100 Katana in my living room. I got it past my wife by agreeing to allow her to keep her 750 Bonnie in the dining room!
I could listen to this guy all day easy on the ear.

The US and UK manufacturers want to have higher margins. They don’t care to make the vehicles anymore. The Chinese say thank you very much and get another foothold in a market. Greed and vanity are the devils best friend.

I left the UK 47 years ago I have had and used my bikes instead of a car all my life. I have been riding for 52 year, I am now 68 years old ride all year round as for me Australia
has no real winter's compairing it to the UK.
I have a BMW R100RS 1977 with 185,000 ks that I have restored over the lasts 3 years
heads and barrels still in good
order. Their weak point on the early models is the final drive,
I have renewed mine, so let people know that you sould always remove the back wheel to inspect the spine.
My BMW 1200 RT 2013 model
has done 102,000 ks and will be good for 200,000 the trick is regular oil changes at 5000ks with good quality oil.
Most of my bikes have done way over 150,000 ks.
Have a look at the K 75 BMW in the BM museum in Germany!

There's no doubt that the quality of Chinese bikes is improving, but there's still a huge elephant in the room, resale value. You can buy a Benelli, a Lexmoto or whatever it may be new but absolutely no one will take it off you if you part ex in a few years. They are worthless in the trade sadly. I decided to buy a bike after my CBT and after considering something cheap and Chinese I picked up a Honda CB125F with just 50 miles on it for £2k, saving about £800 on new. I put 2500 miles on it before getting my full licence. I then sold it for £2k. If I'd gone for the Chinese option it would have cost me a lot more in depreciation.
I'd be interested to see if any other listeners/viewers have similar experience with Chinese bikes. The same may also be said of Royal Enfield, though the situation is improving. I do see more of their bikes for sale in other non-franchise dealers now.
The difference between the Japanese originally copying British designs and the Chinese doing it now is: The Japanese used to completely strip one of our products and use there expertise too make it stronger, better,oil tight and genuinely more reliable than what we were producing at the time, hence the demise of our industry's. The Chinese strip an engine and just make their own copying the measurements of the parts, but then make them using inferior quality of metal. Which is why the Japanese engines do massive mileages and the Chinese won't. A good example of copying is the exact replica of the honda CB 500 twin engine which you see in varying china models eg.voge,lexmoto etc that engine is exactly the same too look at,same cc at 471 but the difference is it vibrates more,and won't last 100k plus like the Japanese one. Also I've seen model's lose £2500 in 300 miles, something you wouldn't see on a cb500!The other thing too bear in mind with all these china imports is that the importer can just drop the manufacturer and product at any time and change to another leaving you too try and get your own parts online! I recently saw a video of a guy who had a benelli and was off the road waiting for parts most of last summer! And the bike was nearly new!!
Biggest mistake Harley made was discontinuing the evo1200 sportster.
That Harley clone is interesting. 120cc grunt. Fantastic Kawa 500! I never had a problem with carbs with the six carbed bikes that I owned. And that was over a lot of miles. Simplicity: the reason I ride an SCR950. Fuel injection and ABS are the only modern things it has. Nick

Just a small point. Back in the 80s I had an R100RT. It had the same fairing as the R80 version. I am here to tell you that the fairing protects you from wind 100%. I am 6ft tall and I felt absolutely no buffering from wind on my RT.
I was once doing a ride down the south coast of NSW with 3 friends, all riding various naked bikes, when it started to rain. At 80 kilometres an hour the BMW fully protected me from the rain. Not one drop was hitting me.
The rain become heavier and a few drops made it to my vizor. I checked the rear view mirrors and realised my friends had disappeared into the deluge behind me. when I slowed down I realised just how heavy the rain had become.
I pulled into a service station to wait for my friends and laughed to myself when the 3 drowned rats pulled into the service station.

Hey Freddie. Howdy from Texas. I currently have 4 bikes. Usually I keep 3. My daily is a 2021 Triumph Scrambler 1200xc. My sport bike is a 2017 Ducati Monster 1200s. I also have my first "real" bike(I got a Honda Helix when I was 13) from when I was 16(I'm 43 now) is a 1985 Honda V65 magna. I also have my wildcard impulse bike a 2023 Honda Monkey. I've been riding most of my life. It's kinda like my getaway that I can take at a drop of a hat. Love your channel it's relaxing and what riding is all about.🍻
I vaguely remember the Japanese bikes when they started taking over the likes of Triumph, Norton and all the others were just left behind… maybe the Chinese bikes will do the same 🤔
Fantic Caballero 500 Flat Track, 150kg of pure joy around the Algarve hills. The Lisbon dealer I bought it from told me at Christmas that they hadn't sold any of the new 700 model, but the single cylinder 500s are still flying off the shelves - they're just so much fun.
If I lived in a place where you can offroad I'd definitely want one of those, that or the new Triumph Scrambler 400. Scrambler style, enough power, and light weight so it works well offroad.
I have a 22 Royal Enfield Meteor 350. So far it has 11600 miles and it's 2nd tires.

I wish the company cloning Harley all the success they deserve. It is a free world & if they can make something of this then congratulations to them. Harleys on the whole are fantastic bikes, however they are very overrated, overpriced, & speaking from a bloke who was into Harleys for many years, the Harleys best, F%#k the rest attitude stinks. It may be different in other places, however it seems most Harley riders in my neck of the woods have this I’m better than you because I ride a Harley attitude, therefore I wish this company great success. Now I await all the hate towards me.

Freddie, I think the reason Landrover discontinued the Defender was because landrover could not adapt the Defender so it could the new legistation regarding collision with pedestrian and has nothing to do with emission laws.
Just imagine the pedestrian safety of a land rover defender. Like being hit in the by a steel girder for starters

Since Ineos got their Grenadier approved for sale then obviously Land Rover could have updated the old Defender to meet both emission and pedestrian crash protection if they wanted to.

2008 bmw R1200RT (112000km) my daily workhorse, all weather, all season living in Brittany, France
2023 new bmw r1250 gs adventure ( replaces a 2020 model with 40000km, 2 x k16GT full options before that) as my annual tour bike for long weekends/road trips.
2015 Yamaha XJR 1300 as a fair weather neo retro bike (the last 2015/2016 racer series). Fuel injection aside, it has no other electronics, not even abs. It’s a contrast to the bmw’s.
On the copy/clone subject I think that all of Yamaha's early 4stroke offerings were British bike classics clones with a 'hold my beer, we can do better' vibe. SR500, (= Big British single pot) XS500 & 650, (= Triumph/BSA/Norton twin), xs750 triple (= Trident/Rocket 3) and even the early monoshock Viragos looked to me Yamaha's take on the Vincent V twins rather than a bone fide cruiser or Harley clone like the later V star.
Crazy they are allowed to rip off a bike so closely. I dunno why anyone would buy that ? . But that’s just me … it will not have the soul of an old Harley . I learnt to ride on an old 1200 Sportster .. I bought it before I passed and rode it up and down my garden for a day . Then booked a 3 day crash course and passed …Had Harley’s ever since for last 25 years . Travelled far and wide on them and smiles for miles .

You can buy a URAL side car outfit used for cheap prices. My 25 years old URAL side car outfit has 50,000 miles. Just tires and gas. New bike has lots of expensive parts like EFI, stainless steel exhaust, German Shocks,disc brakes, make it more expensive than the older Russian ones. The Mikuni carbs are the only non Russian parts on the bike. My daily driver for 3 years. Fires up on first kick.Been in many bike mags . For the price of a used bike it's like buying the side car outfit and getting the bike for free. Gets 35 mpg at 50 mph all day. Carburetor equipped version runs cool in summer 🌞⛱️.
Hey Freddie, my previous bike was a Ducati Monster 620ie and I would be still riding and enjoying it, if only some low life hadn’t stolen and stripped it for parts. So what to replace it with, well there really is only a few options i would consider. Another Ducati Monster 620 or perhaps a 695 or even a 900. The only other alternative, but alas I can’t afford at this time would be a Ducati Sport Classic 1000. No other bikes from other makes interest me and especially never a hideous lounge tractor like a Hardley Ferguson or clone of such junk.

The Chinese copy everything resulting in very little to no R&D costs thus undercutting the original manufacturer
A good current example would be the Tesla EV clone

I have had wore out carbs of course .But bolting another on there if it is that bad is usually easy .Much less expensive than fighting a EFI system gone wrong.A lot of modern riders remember fighting carbs that were last used on most vehicles.Those were normally electric carbs with TPS sensor ,egr hot air injection systems so on and a ecu controlling it all. You want a forever bike get one with kick start ,points ignition and a simple non electric carb . A old BMW ,Guzzi ,or Bullet would check all those boxes and be reliable.A old Harley that checks the boxes will never be reliable.
I’ve been riding a 2022 Triumph Bonneville Speedmaster for two years now and I love it. However, I do also want a more “standard“ version of the modern classic, a.k.a., the T120, so I plan to get one in the near future. I am not sure if I will sell my Speedmaster to do so, as I would love to keep it, but we shall see! Great video as always, and thank you for the connection!
after 67 Years, it was time to retire the Sportster. The current Sportster is much more capable and appeals to the customer that the old Sportster used to appeal to, 50 years ago and not the exact same customer from 50 years ago... Dang, my wife won't even allow bike parts in the house, period. But she won't go into the garage nor my office either...
Freddie, can't imagine why you'd think someone's wife would have a problem with a motorcycle in the house. I'm someone's wife, and if I weren't lucky enough to have a garage, my Triumph would for sure be in the house.
One of my best friends kept her Sportster in the livingroom of her condo for quite some time.
And I'd choose a new motorcycle over new carpeting or granite countertops any day of the week and twice on Sunday.
However, for some reason, my husband seems to think that this preference might be unusual for some spouses of any gender.

Freddie I'm a bit confused on the latest motorbike fashion , being one of your older followers may be you could help me . The hipster era is brilliant the clothes, the custom bikes it made biking fun again . But this new one with handle bar muffs , cheap helmet , L plates, and a 125 Chinese scooter with a massive crate on the back does nothing for me , and I'm worried it could take back motorcycling years . Just imaging a bike night in a couple of years time when every bike looks the same, to me that would be very very boring.
Harley should have shortened that stroke down to a sensible 3 1/2 inch and use a 1200 sportster bore to get the bike into a more competitive arena. About 1000 c.c. and a stroke that ensures the bike keep pulling hard closer to the peak h.p. rpm. Harley built the most indestructible bikes ever built but they were not street bikes. Those XR 750's every single bearing a roller other than small rod end . Most bearings had inside outside race instead of bearing to shaft.
Still hit my ZZR1400 and BMW R1200gsa , best of both worlds for me , great show.
Enjoyable video as ever...... But as a dog lover I miss taking my dog out with me when I ride. Sadly I didn't take her as a pup (she's 13 now) because she wasn't bothered when young, but now she hates to be parted from me. What ideas or advice do you or your followers suggest? Currently on a vstrom DL1050 with 3 box luggage. Dull but competent (both me and the bike)
I've seen dogs carried in modified tank bags, top boxes, and bags on the pillion seat. Also in sidecars. I think a lot depends on the size of the dog. You could try a Google search for pictures of dogs on bikes for ideas.
Freddie the BMW looks like it is a bitser. Krauser panniers were not on this year. Right cylinder head not original.............Be carefull. Mileage is ok I have done twice that on one but this one is not original.
I ride a 1998 Buell M2 cyclone with a tuned 1200 sportster engine. My bikes are in the front room of my house. Iff I left them on the road they wouldn't be there next day.

Think I missed the 'tell me about your bikes' message in a previous video, so here goes.
After 40 plus years of motorcycling I've had just about every type of bike you can imagine and spent countless thousands in the process. A couple of years ago I got rid of my £25k Harley Ultra Limited and was determined to get some cheap depreciation proof bikes that could be used throughout the year and now I have 4 bikes to choose from, total cost under £5000 ! For touring an immaculate 1993 Honda PC 800 Pacific Coast, for nipping around locally and travelling abroad with our campervan a 2018 Suzuki Address 110 or 2017 Kawasaki J300 and for pure fun and green laning my 1988 Honda MTX 125 2-stroke trail bike. If I chose to sell them now I'd be at least £2k ahead of my investment so far, but then what would I buy ? .........who knows, but no doubt I'll be buying more bikes for ridiculously low prices and having a ball !!!!!!!

Been motorcycling over 30 years, never one single time have I wanted a Harley… and can’t see that changing, value for money they are a POS.
Great video Freddy. Just a point on the Land Rover and the reason they stopped it. I have a mate who was an engineer at Jaguar Landrover and worked on that model and the new one.
He said at the time, in addition to the emissions issue, there was also an issue with the vehicle shape regarding pedestrian safety which the related regulations for, were also changing around the same time.
Basically, the shape of the vehicle was too boxy to provide the right level of protection if it hit a pedestrian. Apparently Jaguar Landrover were not prepared to change the shape so they retired it.
I can only guess that all the new safety aids such as collision avoidance etc available now is part reason why Ineos were able to so closely follow the original shape.
It was inevitable that the sportster would be copied. Foolish harley Davidson.
Since H-D ruined their Sportster, why shouldn't another company clone the older, better one?
In America used Sportster go for inexpensive prices with low mileage.
Would be better buying a second hand sportster .
Chinese bikes dont have much of a resale value.
Hi guys any tips for self defence while riding about town ? i had a run in with some e-bikers in the area they started kicking me while in traffic and my little 125 can't out run them i had to drive like a mad man to get away i was lucky not to crash but they were threatening to stab me in the face so i didnt stop for anything.

Nice video Freddie. Just on the Kawasaki W1 and W2 and before you tarnish the Japanese reputation, Kawasaki bought the rights to produce the W1 and W2 direct from BSA themselves. It wasn't a rip off, Kawasaki did the right thing. ;) Keep up the great work!

Actually Maguro company of Japan bought the rights from BSA
and then fell on hard Times and sold them to Kawasaki, who then built the 1st “W” in 1965.
Quite frankly I think it would sell just fine in the US.
I think Kawasaki bought the rights to manufacture the old BSA design. I was looking hard at the Retro Triumphs, W800 and Interceptor. I just bought a new Interceptor. Take care

Airheads are wonderful. Parts are available for the airheads, as well as some wicked upgrades by Siebenrock. I love my 1992 R100R, it handles wonderfully, nearing 80,000 miles, and came in Purple Haze metallic paint.

Kawasaki had the VN800 custom (circa 1995) that copied many of the features of the Harley Sportster I think.
Freddie, I noticed that SWM do a side car bike that looks cool, might be worth that chap having a look at those. Also i heard SWM build in Italy rather than China despite being Chinese owned, is that not true?
I thought SWM were using the old Italian Husqvarna factory in Lombardia that was abandoned when BMW took over Husky.
I remember their UK distributer telling me about it at the Touratech Travel Event in Wales back in 2018? when they were showing the Superdual 600.
That's the only reason I purchased a new T120 , because HD discontinued the classic Sportster 1200. I saved from the mid 80's before the Evo and screaming eagle upgrades.
Spot on regarding the Honda VF750C, mine has 110,000k and rides pretty much like new, it certainly doesn’t look like a 26yr old bike. No oil consumption either.
These are very quick for a cruiser, below 6000 rpm, pleasant with plenty of torque, hit 6000 and you slingshot forward right at the point most cruisers have signed off. The motor is probably one of the smoothest you could even wish for.
They are a real hidden gem and way more fun than almost any other cruiser.
Love my 2001 Sportster 1200, no Chinese copy for me.🤣
There are plenty of low mileage used Sportsters for sale, why buy a rubbish copy?
