    Thank you for doing this review!
    We are using Sassafras Zoology right now. My son LOVES it. He literally sleeps with his Kingfisher encyclopedia and got an easter basket full of schleich animals. Its a HUGE hit in my home.
    Next year we are going to use Elemental Science biology grammar stage for the first semester then transfer back to Sassafras anatomy.
    Elemental Science company if you read this comment please, we need the twins to discover dinosaurs!

      That is SO great to hear! She is so into the human body right now (we just did a human body study) and she is still ready to go straight to volume 2.
      I really like your idea of using elemental science biology, then transferring back to Anatomy!
      And yes Dinosaurs would be a giant hit!

      Hello! Are you still using the sassafras’s curriculums? If so was wondering how you feel about them after a few years.

      Hi there. We have not started the next one, it's on Botony. I'm planning to start that closer to spring when we have green plants around to explore :)
      As she's gotten older we utilize them mostly as a learning read aloud.

    We are currently wrapping up our 1st year homeschooling and at first I 100% dismissed using living books as spine because "how are children supposed to learn from listening to stories"? And after this year I have seen just how much my little one absorbed from the living books. We did history this way and read tons of nonfiction books for science and these were his favorites. Definitely gonna use this for our science this year😊 thanks

      That is so awesome! It really is incredible how much can be absorbed that way. Congrats on your 1st year of homeschooling❤

    This looks so great! We just wrapped up chapter 7 of the Zoology book ( originally weren't planning to start it till fall 2021-2022...but my daughter wanted to start).haha.
    We are doing it mainly as a read aloud (paste the animal in their habitat and color the animals based on if they're herbivores, omnivores, or carnivores). Sometimes we watch an extra UA-cam video or do a craft, but my kids are young (4yo and 2yo) and we'll hold onto this and the guide and maybe do it again in more depth in the future. But my oldest is learning so much and YES! The geography exposure is so awesome. We find on our globe where the twins were when we left our last read and then trace with our finger where they have traveled to next!). :)

      That is awesome you found a way to make it work for you! Even at 1st grade there were lots of times we only colored the animal and added to our "food" chart. As long as shes learning I dont mind not doing it all.

    Thank you for this in depth look at Sassafras. I agree with you about the blank pages, it drives me crazy too! I love the idea of taking the book apart and putting into a binder. Such a great reminder you gave to only do what works for your schedule or what your child is interested in. I am so excited to add this into our curriculum and seeing your video really helped solidify the decision. ♥️

      This is great to hear, so happy it was helpful! Yes taking those blank pages away made me feel so much better🤣

    Hi! This is such a good and detailed video! Thank you for making it. I hate Science but Sassafras was just recommended to me as a more doable Science curriculum for me. It seems so great I might actually start liking it.
    What I dislike the most are labs and hands on activities. So if you don’t do those, you can’t fill out some of the lapbook pages?

      Honestly can can use this as a read aloud only and forgo any of the extra work. The extra is just that extra, so if there's something you want to do one day you can otherwise just enjoy the educational readaloud! That is currently what we are doing actually, skipping all the extra and just reading.💖

    I know their website recommends this for K-5th grade. I wonder how it would work for an older student. I'll have a 6th grader next year and just found out about this curriculum.

    • @knowledgebynature8480
      @knowledgebynature8480  2 роки тому +1

      I think a 6th grader could use these as an independent read for sure! If I am remembering correctly the twins in the story are 12 years old so I would think a 6th grader might still have a good connection with the story. Hope that helps!

    Great video. 👍. Does it come with an audio CD 💿 to read the story for you?

    • @knowledgebynature8480
      @knowledgebynature8480  3 роки тому +1

      Yes, there is an audio version! You can get them as an MP3 download. As of today, you can get the entire set on sale for $75 USD (not sure how long the sale goes...it appears to be $90 when not on sale). I also see they are $18 each to get them one at a time.
      Thanks again for watching :)

    Hi, I went through the comments and didn’t see this detail listed: I just wanted to let anyone who is interested know that there are two options provided by this company, 1) Scidat Log and 2) a Lapbook option.

    • @knowledgebynature8480
      @knowledgebynature8480  2 роки тому

      That is correct! The lapbook is for those wanting more hands on and a little more prep work. The logbook is already prepared with sections to enter information 😀 thank you for adding this info!

    My 2nd grader son has already completed a Zoology curriculum and I feel like he may not get anything out of volume 1. Would we be okay to just skip to vol 2? We haven't done much with anatomy.

    • @knowledgebynature8480
      @knowledgebynature8480  2 роки тому +1

      Yes I think you would, they give a quick recap at the beginning. They do mention a few meet ups from the Zoology section but it's even got a little backstory that goes with it usually.😊

    Great video. Thank you. Would anyone be able to tell me if the books could be read out of sequence please.

    • @knowledgebynature8480
      @knowledgebynature8480  3 роки тому +2

      Hello! They work best in order as they do follow a story line that picks up from the last. However each book gives a quick summary from the previous so you could pick up wherever. The story just wont flow as nicely.
      Thank you for watching ❤

    Or buy the pdf and only print the pages that you want to do? Just a thought in regards to the logbook since you keep mentioning not wanting to waste the pages. ;)
