In-Depth Look at Sassafras Science Curriculum

Hello there! I am Annie, a homeschooling mama with five kids. We’re entering our 10th year of homeschooling this year, and I couldn’t be more excited by the direction our school is heading into. My heart’s desire is to raise life-long learners, and I feel that reading and interacting with quality literature and living books is vital to this goal. We love Sassafras too! We have done it in co-op setting and also our own personal homeschool. We have also done it as just read aloud while other times we did all the activities. We did discover there are a lot of grammar errors in the dictation passage (at least in the earth science). Just beware of that. Definitely love and we can’t wait until next summer when we have time to do book 5. The cliff hanger is killing us! We also use HOD so don’t Sassafras doesn’t fit into our regular school year so it is now our summer fun. I enjoyed watching this video as well as your Heart of Dakota videos. Thank you.

I did not supplement it, I used what it had and used the parts I liked. We got a lot of library books for fun, but other than that we just did the curriculum.

Thanks for this video, do you think the volumes have to be read in order?? Or can I skip around depending on my kiddos interests.

There is a major plot point running through each book that would make no sense if you did them out of order. So they do flow in a specific order.
