    Nice. That "Gold Monster" is one heck of a detector. I've been finding out that if after i did the signal i still have "chatter" in the spot/hole to bag some up, take it to water and pan it. I've had some nice takes on some real small pieces. Think about it, if a decent size flake stopped in it's downhill travel there; Wouldn't the "fines" as well? Great hunt Matt!

    You're gettin good with the GM, a couple of those pieces were small! Nice job man. I wonder if you went back to where we were camping and brought the GM, if you could cherry pick the bigger flakes off the bar? Only problem is carrying it back up!

      I've taken it down there before but detected the hillsides. It's really hot ground there but I might be able to manage it now that I have more hours on the GM. Never tried the gravel bar though. Might be worth a shot! At least the GM is a relatively light machine.

    Right on Matt, that’s a good day for sure. Man I really want the sdc but I may have to settle for the gold monster for a bit. Have you tried the SDC ?

    • @MountaineerMatt
      @MountaineerMatt  2 роки тому +2

      Yeah this is money honey hole for now. I havent tried the SDC. From what I've seen, the SDC is better in mineralized ground but the gold monster will pick up smaller and deeper gold. I've personally detected behind someone with an SDC and found gold they missed with my gold monster. But forget about it if the ground is super hot.

      BUDDY!!! I am sorry to shout but PLEASE PLEASE do a test pan of some of that material that you found the first piece from!!! I took out a solid 4 grams from a bank that was washing down into the river a BUNCH of pickers with the same type of material (a bit of sand and rocks for the first 2 to 4 inches and then a solid layer of clay on the bottom!) All that material has the capacity to be loaded with easy gold!

    • @MountaineerMatt
      @MountaineerMatt  Рік тому

      It's a great machine for what it's meant to to do. But it doesn't handle mineralization very well and it will take many days of use to learn good and bad signals. If you're looking for an entry level detector that is only for finding gold, then it's a great starting machine

    New Subscriber here. Question. Can you find a big nugget with a gm1000? Or do you need a bigger coil (nugget finder) to find big nuggets? Because I see most of the time, these small detectors finds small tiny gold.

    • @MountaineerMatt
      @MountaineerMatt  2 роки тому

      Welcome to the channel! Yes, you absolutely can find big nuggets with the gm1000. The reason you're seeing most people find smaller gold with the smaller coils is because most of the big coil machines have already found the bigger nuggets and the smaller coils are able to find smaller gold that the bigger coils didn't pick up before.

    • @MountaineerMatt
      @MountaineerMatt  Рік тому

      I'll keep in the highest manual balance setting I can but will lower it depending on how mineralized the ground is. I typically try to avoid using auto balance if I can
