    I work as a fleet technician, anytime I have to receive a fuel delivery, I am always intrigued by fuel tankers. The drivers always seem relatively happy as well. I have my Class A, tankers and hazmat as well. I hauled product for a pool chemical company. I really enjoyed the work. Thanks for all the great information!

    This is excellent. I just got my Class A , I'm going to get some experience with a freight company that takes new drivers. But ultimately I hope to land a tanker job and this video helped me learn alot.✌🏼

      Fuel delivery is very exciting, and also very hard work😅 there are pros and cons to any job, but keep in mind once you get a little experience under your belt your options will open way up!

    great videos, I also really like the "how things work" type videos. I find the manifold system fascinating and functional, but I wonder if stations are now getting larger, are tankers getting fewer and large compartments and thus it's becoming obsolete? Interesting. How fast can you unload? I know it varies but is there a "rule of thumb" type number you use, x number of gallons per minute or something? Lastly, being a guy that spent 20 years of his career teaching and researching in occupational safety and health, I feel compelled to comment on your fire extinguisher label. The first time you point to the compartment and say its for the FE, I didn't even see the label, only when you went back did i see it. May I suggest next time your trailer goes in for service, you pester your service people a bit to replace it with a new sticker? I'm kind of pain about those types of things.

    • @thedailywithhaleigh
      @thedailywithhaleigh  2 роки тому

      I don't think they will change the compartment sizes on the trailers anytime soon. They are important for hauling multiple types of fuel at once. Also, this was recorded a few months ago, and the fire extinguisher sticker has since been replaced! We have a nice bright one on there now🙂

      Hi, do you cover pay for tankers at all?

  • @davidleebutler
    @davidleebutler 4 місяці тому

    That's an old tank. The manifold setup is not used much anymore. No Carriers actually use this old style anymore. Those that do just have one or two left and simply waiting to replace them with newer units. The odds of cross contamination during loading and off loading just far out ways the benefits of manifolded tankers. The only benefit is quicker off loading and that's only if the load is solid or one product. It takes only a few seconds to switch compartments so you're not really saving any time. You can't load them with the manifolds open so there's absolutely no benefit there because the smaller compartments will probe before the large compartments are filled. I commend you though because it takes a skilled and attention to detail gas hauler to consistently work a manifolded tanker successfully. Good video.

    Awesome video. I guess we 3 needs find it interesting seeing how it's set up. Hey let me ask you a question. I'm my work life this company or should I say these company's I've worked for in the last 6 years ( all though it's been the same company just a new name for 6 years but any way) these folks think it's a good idea to combine a hand held eld or elb ( electronic log book) with our parcel scanner. This piece of garbage is ruining my life. In your work life are there any devices that makes your job harder for no reason?

    Wow, nice! Fellow 20 year old garbage truck driver here. Just appreciate all the work you tanker drivers do to adhere to all the nonsense and BS that goes day in and day out. I live in Cali and always hear how it's the most anti-trucker state and the drivers here are the most stupid and clueless. Here, it's very common for the tankers to have either the regular two axle 48 ft. tanker and the loading heads are sharing the same loading manifold if I'm explaining the right since I've seen it and they're not like from described above as your video. If not that, it's really common for a regular straight tanker truck to be carrying a trailer with a converter dolly which is very common. More common actually than the first option I mentioned.

    Is there a meter on the truck that shows how much has been delivered on the station

    • @thedailywithhaleigh
      @thedailywithhaleigh  Рік тому

      There is, but when delivering it's always easiest if you can deliver a whole compartment at a time to eliminate the need to meter.

    How much does a full load of gasoline weigh? What is your gross weight then? I see mostly fuel tankers around here with just 2 trailer axles. Thanks!

    • @Pattyboytheking
      @Pattyboytheking 2 роки тому +2

      In Michigan almost everyone runs 8axle trailers of 11,000 gallons. Some pull duel axles trailers for small stations. The guys pulling 8axles are grossing over 130,000lbs.

    • @BobPegram
      @BobPegram 2 роки тому +1

      I'd bet that an 80,000 lb load is normal for 2 axle trailers and more like 100,000 lbs for tri-axle ones like Hailey's. Weight limits vary by state in the USA.
      If I remember correctly from my visit to Michigan, they simply limit the load per axle, but not the number of axles per trailer. Michigan's interstate highways and probably smaller roads, suffer because of this oversight in regulating trailer weights. Fixing the problem would require quite a period of grandfathering the more than two or three axle trailers.

    • @thedailywithhaleigh
      @thedailywithhaleigh  2 роки тому

      In my state with our tri-axle trailers we are aloud up to 100,000lb and we try to fill the trucks as often as possible to optimize our trips, see we usually weigh between 90,000-100,000lb when loaded
