In another comment you mentioned using the Metra dash kit and harness. I see the Metra dash kit in the description of the video but I am wondering where the harness is in the description or if you left it out! Thank you for the video by the way!
Yes. If you use the Metra dash kit and harness. The scosche does not. You lose everything with the Scosche kit. It is only meant to change the radio out, not retain the factory features.
I'm getting a 2013 honda accord soon and was wondering, is there any cheaper way to do the dash? Im finding the plastic shroud for it on Amazon for cheaper but it doesn't include the wiring harnesses needed (obviously) is that the only way to do this? Worth noting mine is not the trim this one is and I don't have the car yet to check if it has these cables
A lot of features are kept with this metra kit. A LOT. I woulf suggest getting the car first. Blind spot camera, steering controls, am/fm if you saw that fight back and forth not too long ago. Lol. Just to name a few off the top of my head. But car first, then check it out and see what you can lose from the car. But the Metra Kit is by far the only one I would recommend. Amongst most other installers.
@@richideates appreciate the response. I have the car now and while I haven't checked the radio yet (lost the tools I used on my old high school car, so got some new ones on the way) but I looked at the crutchfield guide and sure enough, same wiring. Looks like Ill have to bite the bullet and get the robust kit (very different from the 90s truck I set up in high school where the hardware was $50 total, but I also dremeled the dashboard to make it fit, thats not happening here). Anyway excited to work on the project and got some fun plans for how to do it.
I think if you get the maestro. We did not do the maestro from Idatalink. But doesnt the top screen do that? I dont remember nor did I own the car. He didnt have any of that before the new radio anyway.
how did you retain the upper screen? ive got the same model accord im working on for my boss but the screen is operating through a din cable to the factory radio
@@richideates okay thank you. we used the kit but not the axxess harness. i used maestro and it does nothing for the upper screen. although if he uses the axcess module i dont believe he will still get his oem integration for tpms, or gauges, or economy like maestro does. thank you for the response
Hey Rich i have the same car model but i am looking for a 9 inch stereo with the kit but i am having a hard time finding one , could you please advise ?
Hey Fahad. You can do something like this. These are the new floating tablet style radios. This one is on the expensive side but fully adjustable to where you would want to install it. Would probably work well for the Accord considering how far the radio is from the driver. It would bring it in closer to you. The link is in the description but you dont have to use it. Up to you, but it would work with the kit no problems. The radio is meant to work with the single din openings and the screen attachs to the body. You will see in the video. I hope this helps. Thanks for reaching out. ua-cam.com/video/oF8wFR4yY3s/v-deo.html
Yes absolutely. Call however, that one is a bit more involved. It varies per year and install. You have to run another wire to the bluetooth module to get the call and hangup buttons to function. A little more involved than just the plug and play version.
Honestly. I dont remember, but im pretty sure it didnt work when I was done with it. We didnt care because he was getting a whole new bluetooth system.
Well technically you dont if you dont care about am/fm. But I know some of those accords. The antenna is in the trunk and you have to extemd it of you want to keep it.
Not sure. There is a way to tell before you remove the radio. But dont know it off the top of my head. Not sure if its the sedans or the coupes. The tuner pack is in the trunk, therefore the actual wire you need is back there and it needs to be extended to the front. But again, not sure how to tell, there is a way though.
Hi, I recently got the DMH-W2770NEX radio installed by a local audio shop with the full steering wheel and camera kit. Everything works just fine, however, the display on top of the radio is extremely dark and the brightness is at max already At night time, the display dims when I turn on the headlights, but is “normal” brightness (the display is as bright as the factory display) when my headlights are off. During the day, it’s really dark, basically to the point where it’s not even worth to use I was wondering if you experienced this or know anyone else experiencing this and if there is a fix to keep it “normal” brightness at all times during the day Thanks!
I didnt realize that you are the same person. Lol. Sounds to me that they grabbed the wrong dimmer wire. See if you have a knob or controller that makes it brighter, but thats only when the lights are on. They might have it thinking that the parking lights are on. Do you have an auto light setting, if so, is there anything blocking the sensor? Maybe windshield is tinted? Either way, the dimmer circuit might help, its a turn knob of some sort, maybe to the left of the steering column or the rod that comes out of the gauge cluster. Idk that year off the top of my head, but thats usually where they are.
@@richideates thank you for this Haha sorry, I went down a small rabbit hole and stumbled upon your vides and noticed you provided helpful insights on car modifications and responded to comments
Do you have navigation now? Or trying to add it? Either way, no, but I bet it goes where the pocket under the radio. In that case, just follow the disassembly part of the video.
@@richideates My accord is 2015 Ex without navigation. I put in a Pionner stereo, bought a harness so everything would work. (Everything works very well) but I would like to adapt the Control Pannel that I mentioned in the previous comment to fix the clock on the main screen above. The brain of the original stereo is still connected behind the Pioneer stereo so that the cameras on the main screen work. The Pannel control was from another accord but it was a 2015 hybrid
This particular harness had a designated ground wire. But if you didnt get that harness or kit. You can go anywhere theres metal. The factory harness should have a thick wire for ground, let me see if I can get a color. My sources say Black wire in pin 1 at the radio harness. That is the radio ground for the factory radio.
@@richideates I took it to a shop earlier today and they said that the Kenwood head unit that I have for my 2016 Condo Corey Cout doesn’t match with the metro hair unit so they install the radio but there is no back up camera Imid screen or right side camera I need your help bro please
Sounds to me that they dont know what theyre doing. Everything works from after it is done. Blind spot, rear view, and the headsup display. But you need to buy the Metra kit, and no Kenwood, Kenwood is garbage.
Good luck selling this car in future with out the FM radio working. Why would anyone not hook it up just a dumbass move. As for rest of this video it is all over place and not very informative at all .

It comes with the kit. Thats why its so expensive

Yes. If you use the Metra dash kit and harness. The scosche does not. You lose everything with the Scosche kit. It is only meant to change the radio out, not retain the factory features.

If you had the factory one. Yes. It stays functional. If I remember correctly, it stays on the top screen. But either way, it is not lost.

What unit? The metra kit, which is expensive, keeps everything functional
