I plan on upgrading my near field reference monitors for my next project. Ive been eyeing these for years. This video has made me realize that I need them. Thanks alot.
Great review! I've been looking for a compact high-quality monitor to squeeze into my triple monitor workstation. This helped me make that decision! Cheers!
Peace! My space is small and compact. Last night my i loud Micros malfunctioned and have lost all bass and mids ! 🤬🤬🤬 That said ….. I just ordered a pair of GENELEC 8010’s and I’m SUPER EXCITED! I’ve heard bigger Genelec speakers in a few of my friends spaces and were blown away at the beautiful sound they produced. Thank you for this review. Most importantly, thank you for your message to us all at your videos closing. I need to hear that outside of my own head. You have a new subscriber and supporter. 🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾
Thanks for sharing your insight. I'm ready to purchase these speakers because I travel a lot but I'm trying to figure out if these speakers can be paired with any type of subwoofer? for an example PreSonus Eris 8 sub? If you can recommend any small compact subwoofers to pair with these speaker's, which would you recommend? Thanks!
Great review. I have a pair of Neumann KH 80 DSP's and iLoud Micro monitors. I'm sure these are equally good but slightly pricier for what you get, especially considering that you can't exactly use these without delegating frequencies below 90khz to a sub, unlike the iLoud's with which you might get away without any at low volumes. Still though, I'm looking out for a used pair for my next buy. The iLoud's do have greater dynamic range but I'm sure these are more accurate speakers tonally.
Your so right! The iLouds are a great choice as well and you definitely can’t go wrong with Neumanns. I always wanted a pair of genes and found the price point great for monitors of this quality!!! As always thanks for the support and your awesome 😎
Love the question, so those are computer speakers that came with my gateway desktop pc. There by a company call diamond audio(they have different names sometimes) i believe. You can find them on Newegg. Search gateway desktop computer speakers. They act as NS10/ mixcubes
Bought these. I produce in a small apartment and they are just the right size for my need. The bass extension up to 80hz is good for the size. The mesh grills is a welcome addition, my cat broke my last studio monitor.... edit: The 7040a subwoofer is made to go with these. My next purchase :)
Yes, the Yam's were excellent but i wanted something smaller with more mid range detail and the genetics are IMPECCABLE! Thanks for the support and feedback your awesome!!!
@@outhaboxstudios3933 thanks for responding. I owned some 8020s in the past and really loved them. The only issue was the lack of bass. Now I got myself some HS80s and they don't play the lows at low volume, which is kind of frustrating. I guess I would have to invest in more expensive speakers to get the full frequency range while playing at low volume. Love your content! Keep it up!
So you can unscrew them (the screws holding the connectors) and turn the prongs to the desired direction, had to do that for mine hope this helps!! Thanks for the support and as always your awesome 😎
Hey, I never really do sound demos because you can really tell what they sound like through other speakers 🔊 I just try to give an overview of the tech. Thanks so much for the comment and support/ suggestions
They are great for mixing almost any type of music, but keep in mind for house you’re most likely going to need a sub to get those really low end vibes going. You may fair better with the larger version, again they are excellent to mix on just keep the sub thing in mind
I have a question about these monitors. I'm really seriously thinking about getting these. I'm planning to get them as opposed to getting the Avantone mixcubes for getting vocals and mid range driven instruments to sit right in a mix. (Room specifics aside), how do you think these fare in terms of translation? Put another way, what's your honest confidence level in terms of mixing on the Genny's and knowing what you hear will translate?
Great question, I have the utmost confidence in these, as I mentioned in the video these are not budget monitors there just small Genelecs. Same level of quality as any of the larger models
Great question, so the bass roll off is much higher than the Ax5, however it is VERY detailed in the low end that it does represent. Bass quitars sound excellent, vocals sound life like. By themselves they give you way more low end than you would expect from a monitor this size, however you would need a sub if you really are serious about getting the full potential out of em!
@@MinisterTravis typically because they have such opposing sound characters i listen to them at the same time, as the Adams are open and airy and the Genes are warmer and mid focused. The Genes are great by themselves for vocal and bass guitar eq and mixing...
Excellent review, thank you very much. I have a question, I am planning to buy a pair of Genelec 8030 C. So can you share your opinions and guide me regarding that?
I don’t think you will be disappointed, if you can I would recommend trying to listen to them at your local dealer/ shop. If that isn’t an option however I still highly recommend these monitors. They are extremely accurate. They have a warm mid focused character with control in the low end. I would suggest American musical supply or Sweetwater as they offer payment plans an if you don’t like them you can always exchange easily. I’m not associated with either just a recommendation, but again if that’s not an option I really think you won’t be disappointed
8030c is the best measuring speaker out of the 8000 Genelec series, followed by 8010a which also measures perfectly linear but rolls off in bass early due to its size limitations. 8020D is the worst one out of this series, I wouldn't recommend it. Another great speaker in terms of price-performance ratio that has similar tonality is the Neumann KH80 DSP. They measure accurate within +/- 0.6khz from 100hz-10khz (+/- 1.5db 61hz-20khz) which is unprecedented. They are priced lower than Genelec 8030c's. iLoud Micro monitors are great for casual listening, not as studio monitors of course, but the value they offer for the price is just incredible. I own a pair of Neumann KH80's and iLoud Micro monitors. If I had some extra cash to dish out I'd get Genelec 8030c's/8010a's in a jiffy. Can't go wrong with any of these options.
do, you know something bro, the main reason why you don't get views is how your thumbnails are created. why should you use distorted images. let them be fully coloured and 1920p x 1080p in size and see the outcome!! am one of your favorite fan but I really I don't like your thumbnails at all

What are the others even smaller monitors u have on the desk ? also do u know of any monitors smaller size than the genelec?
Great video, thank you
I also have the A5x but need a night shift speaker 😂 Would your say the 3” Genelec are perfect ? Less bass ?
Definitely and a completely different sound characteristic, extremely mid forward less but more accurate bass
Thanks for the content.
Do you think 8010 is a good pair to connect with a streamer for home use?
Most definitely, one of the best on the market specifically for that use
