Some of the best bargains come from Olympus and Panasonic. I bought an E-P1 from a thrift store with two lenses for around $10, and more recently a used GH4 at a camera shop for around $127 (a little over $100 but not far off).

I got myself an epl-1 a few months ago on eBay for 60€ shipped with a shutter count under 2k and I absolutely love it! Glad to see it featured here it's genuinely fun to shoot with!
I have two GF1s - I bought one locally to me in great shape with the box and accessories for $60 dollars. I love the B&W JPEGs it produces so much that I bought a second body off e-bay for around a hundred bucks. I mainly use it with the 14mm pancake lens and it is awesome! It is a really handy little camera to throw in the back with my film gear or my G9. I bought a Pentax Q like new in the box with a lens locally for $85 a few years ago. What a awesome little camera it is. I need to use it more.
Wouldn't recommend the G1 unless you're into experimenting a lot, like I did with only using vintage glass. Mine's screen kinda broke after a while and had to sell it for cheap. Also the max usable ISO was about 400-800ish, it's the first MFT mirrorless camera so expect the stereotype of noisy images with it as well. It's comfortable to hold but all platic. Also the viewfinder has a weird kind of RGB splitting optic effect if you move (as in you move your face around)
Watch out for the failing IBIS in the Ep1, Epl1 etc. I have had two and the flashing red ibis icon indicates the stabilisation has had it. Not a deal breaker but something to watch out for and could be a bargaining angle!
Worth noting for the Nikon 1 series that Nikon had an official autofocus adapter for F mount lenses, the FT1. Will Af With lenses that have focus motors. Nikon 1 wouldnt be my pick among these options ...

I went with a Samsung NX1000 for my first mirrorless camera. I got it for 80€ with a kit 18-55 lens but i use vintage lenses on it 99% of time because they are just better than the kit lens. When i was buying it i wasnt sure if ILC is something for me as i have gotten used to convenience of my Panasonic FZ300 ultrazoom, so i went with the cheapest i could find, but now that ive experienced the larger sensor and fun of trying different vintage enses which i have a ton of, i find myself looking towards other brands so that i can play around with modern lenses as well. Nobody makes lenses for NX mount anymore and whenever i see some cool new lens on youtube i feel a little regret. Used NX lenses arent overpriced and they have decent lenses available judging by the reviews, but you are buying a lens that you cant carry over. Aside from lenses the NX1000 has been great for me, i cant compare it to anything, but it takes nice pictures and the UI and stuff is really good, leagues above what im used to from the fz300. Whenever im not shooting i start looking at a6000s, nex7s, a7s and other cameras, but then i do a shoot with nx and decide to stick with it a little longer.
A used Oly E-PL2 started my resurgence in photography about 5 years ago... it was only $80 for an interchangeable lens digital, so how could I resist? I eventually traded it for an E-P5, but for the pittance they gave me in trade, I wish I'd kept it. It was handsome, and took nice pictures.
Sony NEX-5R and 5T are pretty incredible for the price, especially considering the size. NEX-7 is also lovely and can occasionally be found for about 200USD/EUR. It's pretty much an A6000 with slower autofocus and older menu system (but 3 dials!).
Little disclaimer for the Nikon 1 series cameras: the lenses for these cameras are known to have aperture issues over time. The aperture blades don't always open properly, which is messing up with the autofocus, especially indoors. If you go outdoors in the sunlight, the camera and lenses work petfectly, but once inside, you can't take any pics
had no idea a lot of these would be super cheap now. While searching on Facebook I picked up a Nikon 1 J1 for 60 bucks on marketplace and while it CERTAINLY has its limitations, it is a real joy to shoot with. However I Also decided to convert it to Full Spectrum. Figured for 60 bucks would be worth the gamble if I could pull the job off. Well after some surgery it can now also focus to infinity! I think the other complaint I have for the Nikon 1 system is the serious lack of glass and the cost of those lenses. MPB wouldhave had the Nikon 1 10mm f1.2 but i just bought the last one and it arrives today ;) . will update my comment on the performance!
The olympus models in the beginning might have broken ibis. It requires Disassembling it and gluing the gears to their shafts. I had an epl1 that had that problem. I fixed it by replacing the gears because my gears were actually broken.
Phew. I ordered an E-P1 last week before the snappiness effect kicked in. Mainly because I plan to convert my GF1 to full spectrum and I wanted another M43 camera, but also because it looks really pretty.
If the budget allows, I suggest an nex-6 or a5100. They're going for around 300 now though, but they used to go for 150. They have the very valuable pdaf, phase detect auto focus. Surprisingly, the nex-7 does not. Edit: oops, meant a5100. A5000 doesnt have pdaf.
I enjoyed this. I gave up trying to find a Panasonic G1 that was fully working, best of luck. I finally bought a GF-1, which I liked so much I bought a second body as a spare. Love the lenses too.
a few Lumix camera that you might add to the list : - the G2 can generally be found for under 100 bucks, on MPB right now I think there's a couple around $90. It's basically a G1, but with some improvements and the addition of a touch screen (which works surprisingly well) - the GF series is generally plenty of cheap options, and up to the GF3, you generally can find them under 100 bucks regularly. Sometimes even the GF5 - the G3 is regularly seen under 100 USD as well, right now there is one on MPB US for $69. It's a great camera with a large viewfinder, fully articulating touch screen, 1080p video and a pretty decent 16MP sensor. I bought one for myself on MPB europe for 44€, it's a wonderful backup to my E-M5 mark II. I think it's a real upgrade over the G2 in the sensor department, it has basically GH1 level video, and a smaller body with a large EVF which is exceptional for the price (it's not ground breaking, but a 0.7x magnification with enough resolution to allow for nice manual focusing without focus peaking is worth mentionning). It has a smaller size than the G1 anf G2, but the touch screen is really good and makes up for the lack of buttons really well.
I looked up the price of a GF3 and was astonished to find what they sell for. Couple of years back I picked up a GF3 from MPB in excellent condition for £32 with 6 months warranty, and there was no shortage at similar prices. It's a competent if unexceptional camera, and later Lumix compacts are superior imo. The GX80/85 also sells for silly cash. What happened to cheap cameras?
Samsung NX cameras are so underrated, even the NX500 and NX1 can be found for pretty cheap and have incredible specs for the time that even hold up now. The Samsung lenses are pretty good and they also have adapters for vintage glass.
Recently I got a Samsung NX11 with 20mm f/2.8 pancake for 30€ (less than 30$). It's in great shape and I love it! Image quality if you know what you are doing is great. It's also tiny with its pancake lens and very comfortable. Maybe not the fastest camera, but definitely worth it. I would not pay its retail value with that lens for around 200$ tho.
Olympus Pen EPL2 was my first camera and I still own it. Absolutely love it still and is a ton of fun to carry since it’s so small. Highly recommend it and the kit lens isn’t absolutely horrible in my opinion.
If you don’t mind shooting adapted lenses Smasnug bodies are great, image quality is good, controls are good, if you get their glass it’s surprisingly sharp, i had an NX3000 for a few years and it was a good camera.
The clutch thing about the Nikon 1 is the FT1 adapter. I’m using a f mount 400mm f4 lense with it and my Nikon V3. I use it on a tripod but the effective range with the crop factor of 2.7 is insane. To match that on anything modern is going to be $$$$$$ for the lens alone let alone the body. I’m getting some amazing birding and animal shots with patience and not having to take out an equity loan on my house.
@ thanks. With the v3 and some patience for the Nikon 400mm on ebay I got it all for under $700. Can't even get a full frame or apsc body new for that.
Good video. I have an unrelated recommendation, though: put an outro on your videos. I watch a lot of YT on my TV, and I often don't make it to put a like on your content because it's gone so fast. I'm thorough, and usually wait until the end of the video to like (or not), and sometimes I simply forget. A recognizable, short (say, 20 second) outro is always a great cue to give a like.

Isee the EPL3 must have gone up past 100, but i got one a few years back, it's so great. definitely get one of these older Olympus if you are curious about em.
A few months ago I bought an Olympus E-pl1 for $90.00. Its 10 mp. For a lens I bought a 7artisans 4mm fisheye and later I picked up a 14-40 for around $90 because a little bit of circular image goes a long way. To tell the truth I am not so impressed that I would want to get any deeper into the MFT system. Getting off subject, I bought a Sony a6000 in 2014 with a kit lens for around $700-$800, if memory serves. The used ones are still going for $400-$500. I sold the a6000 to buy an a6600 I wish I still had it.
I own the Olympus Pen E-PL1 and the Olympus Pen E-PL2. The E-PL1 has ISO 100 and is clean. Also the E-PL1 only goes up to ISO 1,600 and I think a fake ISO of 3,200 just being pushed. The E-PL2 the lowest ISO is ISO 200 and goes up to ISO 3,200 with a fake ISO of 6,400 I think. Its been a very long time since I used those cameras.
Ah one thing to note is the Nikon One series cameras do really cripple the manual focus glass adaptability. No ability to punch in when they are mounted, no metering of any sort, manual only exposure as well. There were a couple other things as well but really its not a great manual experience.
7:25 the Nikon 1 series is awesome, I can highly recommend the 1v2, the kit lenses are tack sharp and I like the color science better than Panasonic, but the one thing it does not do is play nice with old MF glass, even in M-mode you get no metering. I never felt like buying the dedicated electronic Nikon FT1 adapter since I do not own any Nikon lenses.
Prices are through the roof right now. More so in the third party market like Facebook and Kijiji. More so Facebook but people are milking the market right now. Crazy.
At least some of those small Olympus's have IBIS /stabilization. That's a big deal at that size. (I had the E-PL2, has the best grip of that series imo, better than the E-P cameras I tried as well.)
Frankly, the main problem is that people haven't realized that APS-C and micro 4/3 mirrorless cameras are essentially disposable products. There is no right to expect them to cost the same as they did years ago. eBay is full of M100 cameras with mediocre kit lenses, and that combo often goes for €450. This is ridiculous, as it was very common to find them new in electronics stores for €359.
"APS-C and micro 4/3 mirrorless cameras are essentially disposable products", sorry can you explain what you mean by that? They don't suddenly expire one day.
@@coastalsandwich You can still buy such cameras the old-fashioned way, right away in the big electronic stores, just like any other ordinary electronic device.
I had an Olympus E-PL1. Was fun to use and had a lot of features. But the image quality was beyond bad. Even pictures taken outside if you zoomed in just a little bit, so much grain. And don't even attempt to take pictures indoors without a flash. Those images are just awful not even zoomed in. If you buy an Olympus, I recommend the OM-D E-M1, it takes amazing images (despite being M43, and focused quickly); pair it with a Lumix lens. If you buy Sony, the A6000 is a good deal. Will cost more than $100, but you get what you pay for.
Nex3 does not have integrated flash and does not have a full tilt screen. It cannot front face. It can only tilt up a little bit and then away from the body. You're showing either the 3n or 5n.
Just my .02 .... I had a Nikon 1 J1 and while cute, the images sucked. Then had an Oly E-Pl1 and with the Lumix 14-42 kit lens, got some scary sharp shots, great camera. Was not that impressed with the Lumix G1, though my current G2 seems considerably better. And while the Lumix GF 1 is something of a cult camera, I can't say enough about my GF5 - tiny, great images, very good 1080p video and, when paired with the fantastic Lumix 12-32 pancake lens, will more than get you through while fitting in a coat pocket.
I got recently the sony nex F3 and I'm thinking in get the sony nex 5 with 55-210 lens for R$2.000, in Brazil the lens who other people sold is 1.600, i hope that guy who i will buy with, keep the lens with him and i buy the camera with the lens for those 2k🥹
Patience is a virtue. Bagged the Canon 5D Classic and 5Dii both for £100 each. So hunt around and you can grab some good offers. My pick of those listed in this video would by the Olympus pen cameras. Fantastic image quality, and the EPL1 has ibis. Win win.
I did send an email a little while ago, not sure if it reached you! If you still have it, I would love to make an offer on one of the Sigmas you said you were hoping to sell in your previous video. Let me know if you can!
I think video wise, it's not worth it except a certain look for this price range (and age). It might be more helpful about peaking implementation on those cameras. My favourite is from canon, the least one is from fuji. Can't wait for DSLR one.
The DSLRs under $100 video is coming soon. Once it's ready I'll link it here :)

The E-PM1 is an astonishing little MFer. It has simple 2-axis IBIS !!!! And it's very small.
Mmm, that's good to know. I had talked to people that use it for manual glass, but I missed that part. That would be limiting.
I got a Sony A5100 for 35€ and a NEX-5T with 4 lenses for 100€ (16-50mm, 55-210mm, 16mm 2.8, 33mm 3.5). If you're patient, you can get good bargains
I'm still looking for ILCE-7M2 for $500 on eBay from your previous videos, and still not a single one on that price range.
Yeah, especially Facebook Marketplace is full of old, bad cameras selling for almost retail price.
It is not the camera, it is the lens. I got a 10 megapixels Canon XS, and my Canon EF 135mm f2.8 is fantastic on it.
@@ReinoldFZ Many of those cheap cameras are great, but not to the point of appreciating in price over time.
Remember, list price doesn't equal sold price. Send offers, negotiate, and don't reward people asking ridiculous prices.
MarcusPix loves those Samsung cameras
my concern is with longevity of battery systems.
1: Old compact cameras's bubble it'already over
2: Welcome old reflex and mirrorless cameras to convert them in full spectrum's bubble🎉
Nikon 1 with phase detect rules !
What are the chances I search for mirrorless cameras under $100 2 hours after this video gets uploaded.
That's scary
We’ve reached the bottom of camera dumpster diving
Just my .02 .... I had a Nikon 1 J1 and while cute, the images sucked. Then had an Oly E-Pl1 and with the Lumix 14-42 kit lens, got some scary sharp shots, great camera. Was not that impressed with the Lumix G1, though my current G2 seems considerably better. And while the Lumix GF 1 is something of a cult camera, I can't say enough about my GF5 - tiny, great images, very good 1080p video and, when paired with the fantastic Lumix 12-32 pancake lens, will more than get you through while fitting in a coat pocket.
still rocking my Samsung nx1 and nx500
oh no, welp good luck
Another sony camera under 100€ are the nex5 which is also fluctuating and the a3000 a realy wierd camer its basically an nex 5r inside an Dslr body.
I have an a3000 and the 2 kit lenses. It was a pretty good camera but never got a single update from Sony. A-holes.
Cry in "currently not available in your area" 😅
I think I might get my luck on DSLR side.
Patience is a virtue. Bagged the Canon 5D Classic and 5Dii both for £100 each. So hunt around and you can grab some good offers. My pick of those listed in this video would by the Olympus pen cameras. Fantastic image quality, and the EPL1 has ibis. Win win.
But why does Kyle hold the negative that way without gloves?
To be fair, you can get a lot more quality for 100$ buying a DSLR.
I am a big DSLR fan - the one plus I see with a budget mirrorless is just more crazy lenses to adapt! (that's why I've picked some up myself)
Just sold my e-pl1 for $250 today 😭
Not even single Fujifilm? There are some pretty old Bayer sensor models
If you're a deal hunter you may be able to, but it's pretty tough to find even those cheap A models at $100 and under
The title should be : "Every Mirrorless Camera That Were Under $100 BEFORE I uploaded this video"...
I love my 1V 1
I did send an email a little while ago, not sure if it reached you! If you still have it, I would love to make an offer on one of the Sigmas you said you were hoping to sell in your previous video. Let me know if you can!
I’m probably the only person that noticed the new microphone 🎤
eyyy that's right. Trying something new :)
@@snappinessI’ve been there many times, and I still come back to that SM57. Enjoy!

I think video wise, it's not worth it except a certain look for this price range (and age).
It might be more helpful about peaking implementation on those cameras. My favourite is from canon, the least one is from fuji.
Can't wait for DSLR one.
mm, good point about the peaking for adapting lenses especially.
