Would love to have you gift me any old camera to start my channel on UA-cam And also film commercials if you don’t mind please Am from west Africa please help me achieve my goal as a fellow content creator brother 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼
This full 30 minutes of camera geekery is just so enjoyable to watch. It also makes me feel good about my "relatively smaller" camera collection which I used to consider too large :)
When the Pentax rep brought us the first Optio S before launch to teach us about it, he came into the store and handed me an Altoids tin telling me it was my next camera. It was pretty dang cool.
I used my D200 for the first time in a good few years shooting wildlife in our Kruger National Park. I gotta say, despite not being world's different to any modern digital, it was surprisingly easy to edit the RAWs into a pleasing form. It's pictures do have a great look even if it's not any kind of night and day difference.
The clear pentax with its limited edition lens defenitely must stay, it's such a rare combo I would kill to buy something like it, do i need it? - No. Will i use it? - Probably also no, so better keep this thing for as long as you live as a family heritage
Same here. I didn’t realize how much I had until I had to pack it all away while we did renovations. Since I can’t afford the cool cars of my youth, the cameras I lusted for are more attainable and sort of scratch that itch.
-sees video- hmm, a 124 camera collection? -starts watching- Ohhh, a 124-camera collection. Your obscure/rare/weird cameras had me thinking I'd missed a whole line called the 124!
Since you're showing off all your stuff that can take Nikon F mount, let me tell you the virtues of the Nikkor AF 80-200mm f/2.8 D. Pro-grade full frame lens, excellent glass, built like a tank, but as long as your camera has an internal focus motor it works just fine, and cost me about half the price of a AF-S 70-200. It's unlocked a lot of possibilities for my D80, which I also bought because of your video as my first DSLR. :D
If I may : if your only goal for a modern mirrorless camera is to have a great decently affordable platform to adapt lenses... then you should definitely consider a Nikon Z6 or Nikon Z5 The Z5 has basically the same sensor as the A7II, but with better processing so you get less visible noise (in typical Nikon fashion) at high ISOs. The Z6 on the other hand has the newer BSI version of those full frame 24MP sensor that no only has excellent dynamic range, but also can go much higher in ISO without it being a problem compared to the non-BSI chips. Both can be had used for about the same price as you paid for your X-H1 + vertical grip (I bought my Z6 for something like 700 bucks). The reason why I'm suggesting a Z mount camera is because this is THE most adaptable mount there is on the market right now. The mount is extremely large, with a wide throat, and the flange distance is currently the shortest of any mirrorless mount (only 16mm). That means that adapting SLR glass is extremely easy, but you can also adapt mirrorless mounts : adapter exists to put Sony E mount and Fuji X mount, with full autofocus and lens IS support on Z cameras. There's also enough room to make adapters that will turn your Leica M mount lenses into autofocused lenses. And you don't have to deal with Sony's weird relationship with colors and ergonomics. Lens adaptability was the primary reason I chose the Z6, and boy do I not regret my decision (sold my X-H1 to fund it believe it or not). The Z6 requires pretty expensive ZQD or CF Express cards which are awesome, but it's not as plug and play as SD. The Z5 is a slower camera, with the older (still excellent) sensor, but has twin SD slots instead of a single CFXB one. Food for thought for future purchases (I know you were REALLY eager for some advice on your 125th camera 😋)
A Z mirrorless is definitely in the cards eventually. They look so good. And the price is extremely tempting. But yes, it would just replace the Fuji/Sony in my mix. Just need one.
That’s what I had to do several years ago with all of my film cameras; I couldn’t just choose one, so I did a process of elimination. I started selling ones that I knew I wouldn’t use and gradually weeded it down to those few I really liked. I ended up keeping a Minolta X700, a Yashica Electro 35 GSN and a Yashica Mat TLR.
I purchased a RD1 because of this channel. And it's the most fun I've had with any of my other cameras. The only one that can compete with it (in terms of fun factor) is my Mint RF70
Looks like it's cleaning time for everyone. I'm going through the same process, and purging almost half of my collection. I figured some of them I will never use again, others are doubles, and some I simply don't get along with.
That's the thing, it's silly to think I'll ever really get to use them all again. Even if I switched to a different camera a day, it would take six months. Might as well make my office cleaner and let people enjoy them.
I gave away my Nikon F3 and the manual focus lenses to my nephew who shoots film. Right now I only have the Olympus E-400 CCD sensor camera with some 4/3s lenses and my my newer PEN F and OM-1 with all my M43 lenses. I sometimes enjoy taking the old E-400 for a walk in the city when the weather is nice, but I mostly just use the newer cameras. I realized that I had too much gear when I needed to dedicate a cabinet whole cabinet in the living room for photo equipment.
Just took my family's old Nikon D50 out for a walk yesterday. It's certainly not very usable for some types of photography and 6MP doesn't look too great even on a laptop, but it's definitely fun to use and there's something special about that old CCD tech.
Great video snaps! I know the feeling of revisiting older camera, can bring back fond memories. I don't have as many cameras, but the current collection I have I medically need 😆 Thanks for sharing your collection!
I got my Sony QX1 complete with live view because of your video back then. It was the only video that cover QX1 completly to a whole new level. And now it's my favorite travel camera. It just so much fun to shoot with its small size. It fits my jacket pocket or cargo pants pocket easily. So sad that you have to sell it 🥺🥺
I do a lot of Concert photography and my main camera is a Canon EOS R and my secondary camera is a Sony A7iii. But for my personal weekends and trips y use a Fuji X-T3 which I love and brings me back to that Hobby feeling
So funky. And I thought I had more cameras than I could use, and that's just an R6, RP, 6D, 5D, d610, K200D, and D1. Plan to get rid of the d610 and RP, 6D was my first full frame and has a broken screen but still works, and the others are just cool to have for the different ccd and cmos eras.
I got into the Nikon system with a D40 that I really appreciated. I bought a D200 that I find fantastic. I thought I'd stop there but I had the opportunity to buy a D700 everybody's talking about and I'm impressed buy the colors. I believe this one could cure my GAS. Maybe...
Now that you're selling off cameras... have you ever considered getting your hands on a Casio Exilim EX-M2? It's the one camera I wish I hung onto. It's such an "early 2000s luxury tech" item.
As an owner of canon g10 , i really hope canon make a newer version of that series with apsc sensor and put some recipes. I bet they can get head to head with fuji x100
I've sold and repurchased some cameras and lenses many times like E-620 and the 50mm f2 or the Pentax K-1 and FA 43mm and DFA 50 1.4. The K10D and DA40
Of all of these, I think I am the most saddened to see the Pixii go. I have the Pixii+ model, and I got it off of your (and some other people's) reviews. I am loving it. While I love the charm and the looks of the RD-1, I really do believe that the Pixii is the superior camera, and it isn't like the RD-1 is all that much cheaper. Maybe it is because I haven't used it but I have trouble seeing how a bigger, heavier, slower, older camera is better than the one you purchased new.
Getting rid of the Sigma Quattro is relatable. Fun to use in the best conditions, but a nightmare otherwise, also the liveview is undeniably bad. It would be extremely good studio camera though if you stomach the raw editor. I really hope Sigma makes a more sensible Foveon camera with m4/3 sensor capable of video and better ergonomics.
@snappiness then you have some serious weeding to do 😀 I'd love the transparent K1, but I already have a black one that I do not use enough. It turned out to be too bulky and heavy to my liking, there aren't much Pentax FF lenses and they're not cheap.
You should sell the a7ii and the Fuji and get a used 7Rii for ~$6-700. It has the resolution to adapt ff and apsc lenses to it. I think it's like 18mp in crop mode. Or perhaps a Nikon ....
Can’t see anything wrong with owning, using, collecting etc. a hundred plus cameras (and presumably even more lenses) being a member in the exact same club myself😅 I do of course sell off cameras, but not for the need of control or space, only when it annoys me, are faulty or I have too many of the same. I often find myself regretting losing them though…
i enjoyed every second of this documentary of your collection! would love for you to try motioncam in that yongnuo! if it works you got a cinema camera with interchangeable lenses.
Sir, are you interested in a giveaway? I was a user of Olympus E-PL5 with the Lumix 45-175 mm lens. Missing it ever since it got dropped during a hiking trip.
Bummer on the PixII, was looking forward to more vids from you on it and images. I got one used recently and have been enjoying it alot. But u have alot of gear and that would be a pain to use it all frequent enough to enjoy them.
My first DSLR was an E-420. Ergonomically great - certainly better than Olympus' m43 cameras. Within a year I moved up to my favourite camera of all time, the A7. I considered moving up to newer A7 bodies, but they absolutely ruined the grip.
You shouldn't move to the E-5 in my opinion, if you get a different 4/3 camera. I owned a few 4/3 cameras and shot the system professionally. I really didn't like the E-5, there was something about the low ISO noise, starting right at base ISO that i always found meh. Much preferred the E-3, which is my favorite camera of all time. The E-6XX cameras are cool, compact but premium. I also have a soft spot for the Panasonic DMC-L1/Leica Digilux 3. Cool cameras.
I own an E-3 but have long considered trying to find an E-5, so thank you for sharing this - I need more people saying things like this so I don't get tempted to spend money on an E-5! 😂
But, if you sell them, what are you going to put on display when you open your digi-photography museum? Just think how much work it is going to be, trying to unearth them again! 😅
I love all those old cameras with the stickers on them. Those were the first things to get ripped off a camera. Bless those who didn't fall prey to removing them. On that Konica Minolta Sweet Digital, is that an alpha symbol I see on the name plate on the side?

What is wrong with all us? I watched every minute of this, and would've watched a 2 hour version. Bunch of weirdos. Keep it coming!
We're doomed 😅
Same 😂😂
"We start with compact cameras": then he pulls out a Sony the size of a small car. XD
Hahahaha
The danger of old lovers is that when you try to forget them they can quite easily become new lovers again.
That's on you. Move on
Wise words.
So true. Was harder than I anticipated before hitting record...
@snappiness don't admit that to your wife 😂
Calm down. @@unbroken1010
Thank you. I'm showing this to everyone who says I have too much gear.
There's a house down the street that has had a broken helicopter in the driveway for years. That's always helped my argument with my wife 😂

I know right. (His wife must really love him).
I have maybe a dozen...and two dozen more I am hiding.

I would kill to buy something like it, do i need it? - No. Will i use it? - Probably also no, so better keep this thing for as long as you live as a family heritage
It is the most unique/rare camera in my collection. I doubt it's a one of a kind, but there can't be that many out there!
Perfect to take out on a street photography gig. You will get more lookers when they see this Pentax.
Ya, I could never let go of that thing. Too cool. If you do sell I have a hole burning in my pocket....
@@snappiness Yeah, its probably 1/10 if not more rare, so if you don't even use it, it's a gorgeous decore piece
@@bondgabebond4907 It's me when I do street with my red lens😅
That clear Pentax at 0:13 caught my eye
Same here. I didn’t realize how much I had until I had to pack it all away while we did renovations. Since I can’t afford the cool cars of my youth, the cameras I lusted for are more attainable and sort of scratch that itch.

This is one of the greatest GAS I've seen. Love this! 😍😍😍
NOOOOo! I cannot believe you want to get rid of the Mamiya ZD! Instant regret guaranteed 😅
Happy to see the C8080. Besides the fact that is has more controls than a space shuttle, it makes a great picture.
Love the macro mode but it's just too darn slow to focus
@ all my cameras are slow except the phone, I think I’ve just got old.

I love PENTAX too, I own K1、KP,also RICOH GR3X ! And recently,I bought a DC,KODAK pizpro fz 55,it is a cute and interesting camera.
I have broken cameras I can't part with. I always think "one day, I will get them to work."
We all do. The price for fixing might not be worth it but it's to barter to camera nerds who like fixing stuff
I’ll take one thanks 😊
I've sold and repurchased some cameras and lenses many times like E-620 and the 50mm f2 or the Pentax K-1 and FA 43mm and DFA 50 1.4. The K10D and DA40
That's the thing is that a lot of these cameras can be easily picked up again if I ever wanted. Only a handful are truly rare.
SELL ME THAT CLEAR PENTAX!!!
The precious must be mine!
Of all of these, I think I am the most saddened to see the Pixii go. I have the Pixii+ model, and I got it off of your (and some other people's) reviews. I am loving it. I bought Nikon D200 for 100$ last month, such a beautiful camera. Didnt expect to see it in the video😅
Please finish that Fujifilm S2 Pro Vid!!! Have a ton of Nikon Glass. Always wondered how it would compare to a Nikon D700. Thanks! Great video
Please do that video on the D2x. Great video. Hope selling those cameras didn’t hurt too much.
Nah it's good. I love cameras, but I've never regretted selling anything. It's all just for fun.
where are you selling your cameras? I would love the mamiya zd
Would have been great to see a couple shots taken on each as you were showing them. Still, nice collection!
I love your videos and discovered your blog, will you ever start posting there again? 🙏🏾
And I thought I had too many cameras 😂I can still count mine on my 2 hands 😂

I'd love the transparent K1, but I already have a black one that I do not use enough.
It turned out to be too bulky and heavy to my liking, there aren't much Pentax FF lenses and they're not cheap.
Man I need to think about getting my filthy hands on that Mamiya DSLR! 😂
Thank you btw!
rd1s epson my favorite camera, so unique
Happy big ol Minolta made it through
Really enjoyed the video.
Hey man! You never thought about made some interviews? With a photographers or maybe engineers? Im feeling you'd be great interviewer
Damn the Sony 828 was my first digital camera, I oddly enough was able to sell it for more than I bought it for.
"See!? My 34 camera collection isn't THAT bad!" 😅
P.S. I definitely want that demo K-1 whenever you're able to let it go 🤩
Happy to help make your collection look more sane, anytime 🤣
