Hey Jason, great video but $700 isn't really budget for most people, could you do another video on true budget cameras under $300 perhaps, maybe try to search the used market and document ur journey in finding a used camera under $300. Thanks!
Very nice getting confirmation that I bought, almost, the right things as a beginner. I started a few months ago and I have the a6000 and the 30mm prime 1.4, so almost the same. The combo rocks.
The A6100 was my first camera ever. It really was the perfect budget camera to start out with! only reason I upgraded was for the picture profiles in full frame and newer cameras
It so good to see this videos for beginners. I just bought recently a Sony a6700 with a Sony 35mm 1.8 OSS lens and this video gave me the courage to start making those videos that I bought this camera for. Thank you!!!
ZV-E10 MK I is a no brainer at that price. it shoot a great video if you have a steady hand, and it takes great photos that still looks sharp even when you crop in!
Still loving the ZVE-10 after two years. With the pancake ttartisans 27mm 2.8 it is tiny, light, sharp & cheap, if you don’t mind vignetting on the wide apertures. I use some nice full frame glass on it in the video studio.
in my country here, a6100 is discontinue and 0 stock brand new, and somewhat less used. while the a6000 you can still find unopen box, brand new, used easily. the other budget choice will be the zv-e10. but personally i will recommend a6000/6100 for that extra viewfinder.
A7iii is getting cheaper and cheaper, got mine new for $850 which is a deal here in Mexico. A7iii is just so superior to many cameras and does everything
Honestly the best option for a beginner on a reasonable budget is the A6100/ZV-E10 with Sigma 18-50mm f2.8. I don't think there's a better option than that.
I just thought about this on Saturday... I was shooting comparison videos, a6400 vs a6700, and the a6400 was surprisingly good, I thought, "yeah, filming with the ZV-E1 must be quite good with its active stabilisation, a6400 can't put up with that"
In last sale in India- ZV -E10 (590USD) & A6600 (710USD🎇) Which is better value? I think a6600 gives much more in extra 120$ As of lenses 50mm f1.8 oss (260$) Sigma 56mm f1.4 (415$+) Although sigma would be my fab pick, but much costly than sony , which has oss
Jason, you forgot to mention the crop factor that is inherent for APS-C cameras when used with full frame lenses. That 35 mm will never give you that '35mm' look like you were saying. It is a 52,5 mm on these cameras. You need about a 24mm lens on an APS-C camera to get that '35mm' FF look.
Jason: I have taken over 123K shots with my A6000. It has been a great camera. I looked at the a6100 and it is a step up. Honestly, I was hoping an a6200 would come out with an upgraded sensor like the a6700. I like the 6100 because it works exactly the same way as the a6000. yet, is there any information about a forthcoming A6200???
@@JasonVong Thanks for the reply! Interestingly, as the years have gone by, I use the A6000 EVF more and more. In addition, I used the Fuji XT5 for a week last year. I was impressed by the low noise, 40 megapixel, crop sensor. Perhaps not true, but I read that Sony makes the XT5 sensor. Loved the XT5 low noise & clean images but found my A6000 still had better focus. Perhaps the 6700 is using a similar kind of sensor?
I say getting a used a6500 over new a6100 is much more worth it for photography. And as for video camea the fuji xm5 is also great option . Its kinda unfortunate that there is not real budget option for a hybrid setup 😢.
In my place a brand new a6100 cost $600 roughly where as the a6600 comes at $700 roughly (during sale and offers). I myself wanted to get the a6100/6400 but when I saw the price the a6600 was a no brainer. All of these prices are body only, and personally I do think that IBIS in a6600 brings in a huge difference, allowing you to use manual lenses.
@@archan_ghosh yup, that is one pricey body but the ibis is damn good... With tamron 17-70 mm that also have lens stabilization it might go even lower, even with a6400 that lens can go as low as 1/40 handheld, 1/20 while sitting...
Coming back to photography after a long spell away due to health issues, I got a second-hand Sony a6000 a couple of years ago and absolutely hated it. Everything about it just seemed to bug me, but the lack of a decent viewfinder was the worst aspect for me. I think for someone starting out, not having S-LOG is not a huge deal unless they really wanted to get into color grading. In that case, I wouldn't recommend either of these and suggest a6700 straight away for 10-Bit.
