Hey Billy I appreciate your videos. Quick question. In your course do you focus solely on the pl-2850 as the machine to use or is the information interchangeable with the lower model if I am looking to save money and go with a pl-850?
Yes we teach the course in a way that you can enter change this information practically with any piece of equipment out there on the market. Yes we do favor the 2850 but some of the smaller jobs which pays phenomenal money can still be done with 850
I'm going to get into parking lot striping as a complimentary service to my pressure washing. Put my first estimate out yesterday. Granted it wasn't $1000 worth of striping quote, but it did increase the total by almost $700 for 40 spaces. I've been watching your videos for about a month now and pretty excited to get that aspect of my business off the ground.
Really good technique. I been striping for years out here in California. We install the bumpers last so we never had to use the machine like that. Really cool! Good job
Good for you for trying to help that guy, Billy! I have people call me for pressure washing help sometimes. The first thing I ask them if is they are ready to eat, sleep and breath pressure washing!
I am an entrepreneur and I’m just getting into parking lot striping and I need help to charge? I have a parking lot about 20 spaces in the handicap. What should I charge?
Pulled a similar sized camper a few times with a 92 f150 no problem, other than topping out at 50mph. Lol It's not a 'ford' problem, it's an 'all modern vehicles suck' problem. 😆
You should use the paint that is required in your jurisdiction. Hacks can use whatever paint they like, but if an inspector comes and you're not using the mandated acetone/solvent/waterborne or MMA depending on requirement/time of year, you'll get in shit and have to re-do it properly anyway. You can paint with waterborne if it's going to rain later in the day, it's very rare you'll be able to keep a lot closed and empty for any paint types recommended cure time. In dry conditions (less than 60% humidity) where it is above 15 degrees celsius, waterborne paint shouldn't take longer than 20 minutes to dry if you're putting the paint down wet at 11-14ml. Don't paint if it might rain while you're still on site, only paint if you can be sure the paint will have about an hour cure time at least before the rain comes. With solvent based, as long as it's not fresh asphalt or there's puddles, you can paint on wet pave and it'll be fine. On fresh pave, water will seep through asphalt and be blown out from the pressure of your paint guns, so never paint wet fresh paved lots. Just use your judgment and some common sense.
hey wassup Billy, Love the content, live in New York , Long Island tp be more specific .I was wondering if the city area could bring me good business, or should I leave big areas alone? of course once I'm more advanced
Hey it's great to hear from you! I will definitely get started ASAP. Within the city limits most often you can do a lot privately owned establishments such as restaurants, gas stations, hotels etc.
Yes a change it would mean we would have to make it much wider or either try to grind part of it down. Often times when we are doing a repaint they usually get exactly the pattern they had before. Whenever possible we can make small adjustments to the Apex of the line to help with the optics but that does make it a little more difficult
@@billydavidsonvip just curious. Thanks for replying. The stripping interests me but I watch you more for the pressure washing part. Keep up the great content. Thanks
@@billydavidsonvip if you invested in a good Graco 200HS and picked yourself up a laser, you could straighten every line in each lot you do, mark all ends to make them have the same start, and save hours on the job site. One machine equipped with a calibrated laser can knock out 120~ stalls an hour, much more in bigger lots with double rows (upwards of 200+). Not only that, but you get to upsell each job based on the fact that you're "fixing" every line. After watching some of your videos, you get some decent sized lots, but my god do they ever look bad being sprayed with a titan machine and no sight/laser guide. Always upsell the lots with wavy or curved lines, guys who do jobs like you end up making us a ton of money simply because we've got proper equipment, and we're the ones that get the call back next year.
Can this be done in the wintertime. Trying to solve my issue with winter time money. I have a hotwater rig. But wintertime I cannot produce enough money
Yes we often times will stripe during freezing temperatures but the ground has to be dry. In addition there is a lot of striping indoors such as warehouses in car dealerships etc.

With stencils, tools, other equipment and of course the striper ?
We may do something like that very soon
Good for you for trying to help that guy, Billy! I have people call me for pressure washing help sometimes. The first thing I ask them if is they are ready to eat, sleep and breath pressure washing!
It absolutely takes dedication to be successful but the rewards are very generous

When you say you chose a different paint today due to upcoming rain, what paint should we look for? Or does sherwan Williams know the answer ?

Maybe it's the video quality, but it looks like there is over spray.
Good morning Mr Billy is this access code stil valid? This video says a year old?
Yes, and if you have any trouble, just let me know. My personal phone number is on the website.
@@billydavidsonvip thanks! I will and I’ve been striping for an airport for 10 years but no so much parking lots. Thanks again.
Great stuff
Thank you
Any ideas with a hotwater rig and wintertime money. Thanks.
what type of insurance coverage is required for striping business
Once you get into some large jobs you will need a commercial policy to cover any incidental damage that you may occur. We've never had any issues
What do you do about that wavy long line? Is there a way to correct that or just let it go?
Yes a change it would mean we would have to make it much wider or either try to grind part of it down. Often times when we are doing a repaint they usually get exactly the pattern they had before.
