Racquel Hampton not necessarily. Whether it's stop motion or hand drawn or CGI or oil painted like Loving Vincent, you have to make it look exactly like the director wants it to, and it's difficult.
It's not surprising. In a time when most of what we use is virtual, people crave the real. Vinyl records over MP3's, collectables, practical effects over incomprehensible computer graphics, and stop motion is still just as charming as ever, but able to do more thanks to new digital compositing and post production, such as removing supports, rigs, filaments, etc.
It's actually a lot easier in stop motion for him to include his trademark because he has control over every frame opposed to having to deal with the randomness you get when shooting on location. Lack of time, budget, human error, etc.
This is the reason I sit all the way through the credits. You really gotta recognize all this hard work and craft that contributes to the sum experience of a movie.
Damn... you know this one's gonna be a strong contender for the Academy Award for Best Animated Feature 2018 but will probably lose out to Pixar's Incredibles 2!
it shouldn't but it will. If you've seen the oscar ballots, people vote for stuff without even seeing it. Very few actually care about the animation category, and only choose Disney because of brand recognition. Shit, even 12 Years a Slave, as great of a movie it is, had some voters only voting for it because they think its racist not to vote it.
Being a sequel severely hurts Incredibles 2's chances. It's not impossible for it to win of course, but the academy "typically" avoids rewarding sequels. Also seeing how the original already won best animated, it's less likely they'll reward it again.
I just watched it and it's truly amazing. I am blown away by this artistry and the dedication of everyone involved. I was stunned by how incredible it looked and how fluid it was. It truly is a work of art, I appreciate this movie so much.
ONLY 27 animators? That seems like a small amount considering the complexity of the film. I swear, I hope movies like these give animators a lot more respect than they've gotten over the years.
I'd love to do a stop motion course or workshop on animating puppets like this, even if it was for a few second clip as a bit of fun, it would be fascinating and cool to learn the basic principles of stop motion from a professional.
This was an excellent movie!!! It was funny, heart warming and very creative!!! I would rather see more movies like this over other movies they are producing. OUTSTANDING!!!!⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
I love how the actors interacted more with each other, than in some green screen heavy movies. I remember how Ian Mckellen hated playing in the hobbit. Seeing them in the recording studio together looks really cool!
Film review from "Walking With Things Up Your Butt Monthly": "Beginning at 1:59, the walk of a dog with a broomstick-size rod inserted in it's rectum, has long been an animator's "Holy Grail". However, it was not only achieved, but masterfully captured for this film! Kudos to the Animation team.". Yes, kudos indeed.
did you guys make fantastic Fox cuz if you did you guys are really good at making these movies I want to see this movie but we don't have money so I'm still working on it at my mom's to walk her on it too I hope I can see you as active movie
Wes Anderson, a master auteur, has brought back a forgotten art into 21st century, with his usual attention to detail and his love for art in general...making the everyday artist equally important as the lead actors......what a treat for the eyes, the intellect and the mind, and certainly a great film as well.... Simply sublime
The animation looks like it took forever, it's gorgeous
Sam 454 all animation takes forever
Anna Fowdy but obviously this type of animation takes more time
Racquel Hampton not necessarily. Whether it's stop motion or hand drawn or CGI or oil painted like Loving Vincent, you have to make it look exactly like the director wants it to, and it's difficult.
Sam 454
It just shows that a lot of time and effort was put into this movie.
I can't wait to see the movie
I'm so happy to see this art form progressing in this day and age. The movie looks wonderful. I can't wait to see it.
It's not surprising. In a time when most of what we use is virtual, people crave the real. @Christopher this movie is wonderful. The thing that impressed me more is how they made the dogs cry in the movie. 10/10.
I like how there's *actual* Japanese voice acting.
You mean "there's"?
Thanks for pointing It out.
Your welcome. That's my sole purpose in life right now.
You mean "you're"?
;)
Thank you for putting all the animators names up on the screen.
"You make me sick." *vomits*
I verbally laughed out loud
Even Wes Anderson is making a stop motion animation, he still can induce his director trademark.
One of his most famous movies is a stop motion movie.....
It's actually a lot easier in stop motion for him to include his trademark because he has control over every frame opposed to having to deal with the randomness you get when shooting on location. Lack of time, budget, human error, etc.
this isn't his first stop motion movie x) check out fantastic mr. fox
? stop motion is the perfect medium for wes anderson, he has complete control over every detail in the frame.
he did fantastic mr fox too if ya want to check that out its a fun one
Y’all should have deserved that Oscar for best animation picture... you really should have.
This one should win an oscar. Talking about brilliance and effort, I admire the maker of this piece of art. Definitely gonna watch!
Let us take this moment to appreciate the amazing cast and crew who helped put this artwork together...
If you say Isle of dogs really fast it will sound like I love dogs.
This is the reason I sit all the way through the credits. You really gotta recognize all this hard work and craft that contributes to the sum experience of a movie.

Buenomars it shouldn't
it shouldn't but it will.

Lets hope and see

it better not, I2 looks like garbage
Really mindblowing how they do this
That producer @0:22 should've gotten a role too, he has a unique, sort of levelled, dry voice. Would be perfect as a tv newscaster.
He might actually have a part in the movie though
WOW, the animators are seriously gifted
Brian Cranston: "grrrrr... I bite"
My new whatsapp notification.

This is one of the most interesting looking animated films. I'm really excited to see it.

Uhmm.... Why is this only gonna play in 27 theaters in the us?... Whyyyyyyyyyy
We need less cg and more stop motion.

SEE? Using references is NOT cheating!

These puppets and animation suck compared to Laika.
It seriously BLOWS my mind that movies are made like this. You'd have to be insane you'd think to do this

Trainee Animator Gareth Hirst (bottom of the list) - What a lucky lucky man!
Thats an animator set up for life now
Craft at its finest. Good job for the film.
I love this so much! Thanks!
This "making of" is *so much* more interesting than the "trailer", 😍
before I thought it looked "meh", but now I'm *excited* to go and see the film! 🎦
That second guy (Jeremy Dawson) has permanent robot voice. Neat!
This is a really hard work, amazing
Amazing. Shared on my FB for teachers to show the kiddos. A great break from a long week.
Just watched it, what an amazing film, the sheer amount of animation just looks bloody painstakingly awesome.
It came out on my bday match 23
