      @@xmindy.kirbyx I haven’t seen the full movie of puss in boots yet but I’ve seen clips of it, I like Pinocchio because it uses stop motion, which is a dying form of animation because it’s time consuming and expensive. I’m interested in Puss in boots but I might go with Pinocchio for now, since Puss in boots uses an into the spider-verse look on animation while Pinocchio uses a beloved animation style that’s hasn’t been used for a while now.

    Now *this* is how you make a Making Of featurette. Incredible editing and transitions through the many departments and how they come together, passionate and well spoken artists at the top of their craft in service of the story, and all wrapped up in a hefty 30 minute piece. I could watch hours of this.

    Such a beautiful movie!
    *Spoilers:* My eyes watered up when _Ciao Papa_ started playing. And the part where Candlewick and Pinocchio became friends was so sweet. Near the end, I was rooting hard for Spazzatura to have his happy ending because of how much he changed. That's how you write a compelling character.

    The reason I watch this film is because I like animated movies and it catches my eyes. I was having an emotional rollercoaster ride while watching this. First I was happy, then sad, angry, shocked, amazed and the emotions run in circle. The storyline is amazing! And the songs too. This film shows a real story of our life and destiny. We don’t live forever, but we can keep the good memories with our loved ones. I cried in happiness. Thanks to all the production team for this beautiful film. Hope to see more in the future❤

    Stop motion animators are the ultimate animators. I mean if you get to that level you reached the top. With 3D it's easier cause you can go back and forward, change thinks in a bit, get the help from the computer for the frames in between, get a first draft first than layer it out. But stop motion you just animate like every single frame is in your head already! Chapeaux!

    This is a true masterpiece of filmmaking. It is, by far, in my opinion, the best Pinocchio movie ever made. As much as I love the old Disney animated movie, this one is so much closer to the source material and more honest as a story. The craft and care put in the art, design, and animation is astoundingly beautiful, and I really hope that it goes on to help keep this amazing artform alive for many more decades. This has instantly become one of my favorite movies. And, I want to see more.
    And, as far as Disney's live-action release goes... well, there's just no fair way to even compare the two. This one is, hands down, the superior film, in every respect. Compared to this, Disney's lazy cash grab is downright insulting, and a complete waste of time, money, energy, resources, material, and talent.

    • @joebrat6809
      @joebrat6809 9 місяців тому +1

      Yes, the Disney version is my child hood obviously, but having read the actual novel, it does actually stray closer to the source material. I also think the exclusion of any magical creatures makes it more grounded and the way people react to a live puppet is much more akin to how they would react in real life. I mean, who would really be shocked at the appearance of a live puppet when there is a talking fox walking around dressed like a human and people react as if its nothing?

    Guillermo is one of a few directors who can still create a beautiful and powerfull movies. His touch is always visible in the movie... and not only here... I love both of his Hellboy movies, Pan's Labyrinth is masterpiece, Shape of Water or others.... he loves fairy tales and because of that his creatures are so believable.
    I hope this Pinocchio will win the Oscar for best animated movie (but after I watched the Puss in Boots: The Last Wish I am not sure anymore about this one).

    One of those rare movies where the making of is equally if not more magical than the initial production. Every moment is exploding with detail and many of the people who worked on those details are bursting to talk about them. This only scratches the surface, but the wonder and awe it inspires around the work on display in the film is truly mind blowing. I could watch an entire series about the making of this film. Guillermo talks about it being a movie he wants people to appreciate in deeper and different ways each viewing and I think the intricacy behind the production easily makes it that kind of modern classic. The psychology behind the nuance and variation that keeps classical music appealing to us is the same sort of detail you see here. As we change around the music, the music changes around us.

    Gotta admit when i first started the movie i didnt know what to think. I grew up watching the 1940 version so this was quite different. With respect to movies who still film this way i decided to watch it. Overall its a very dark, sometimes sad story that is very heartwarming by the end. The ending tugs on heart strings like the first one, but in a different way. In the original everyone is dancing happy and Cricket gets his “wings” per say. In this one it ends almost like green mile; pinocchio watches everyone around him pass and is pretty much trapped in life until his time comes.

    Something which they didn't address here is that several elements of this movie are clearly inspired by another obscure version of Pinocchio - the 1987 cartoon "Emperor of The Night". That movie has a Gepetto that looks very similar to this version in appearance, as well as an insect being given life by the fairy (a glow worm in this one), there is also a monkey who is first a villain but later befriends Pinocchio and lastly Count Volpe is CLEARLY designed after Puppetino, one of the two main villains of the cartoon (they have the same outfits, same facial hair everything he is also equally cruel and sadistic to Pinocchio and heads a carnival, which is even more eerie than this version). While I absolutely love this one, I think del Toro would also have made an absolutely fantastic "Emperor of The Night' live action version.

      That’s the thing that is admirable about auteur directors like Guillermo del Toro or Quentin Tarantino, they’re so brilliant, creative, innovative, easy to work with and charismatic that the actors and actresses would be willing to take whatever role they’re given to be in said auteur’s movie.
      Not to mention that years before, Cate was also the voice of Hiccup’s mother Valka from the second and third How To Train Your Dragon movies. And seeing plus hearing her make monkey noises instead of Frank Welker like usual, really helps showcase her talent and range as an actress.
