  • I bought a 2004 Yamaha Road Star Midnight Silverado XV1700, in January, 2013. It had Hard Krome Big Straight 3", unbaffled exhaust pipes. They were obnoxiously loud, and irritating. I changed them to Freedom Performance 4" Racing Duals. These are so much better, and I like the look of the duals. They're still on the bike today (July, 2016). This video was taken in November, 2014. It was the first time I'd started the bike after installing the Freedom Performance system.

I assume this would go well with a stretched bag setup?

Hi Al, could you please tell me:
    1) where you bought your dual cross over exhaust header pipes
    2) what diameter do the headers end in
    3) what diameter do the Freedom Performance 4" Racing Duals end in to couple with the exhaust headers.
Did you have to make any modifications to the headers or exhausts to make them fit?
Did you buy everything (the complete kit) in one place?
All I've found online are "Bassani Manufacturing - Power Curve True Dual Crossover Header Pipes" with the disclaimer: "Crossover system will only accept Bassanis Softail slip-on mufflers"
    Thank you for your response,
    Sincerely,
    Mike

Mike Cariño , Hi Mike. I've been on vacation, and just saw your comment. I bought my Freedom Performance 4" Racing True Duals, from J&P Cycles (jpcycles.com). They have a "Select Your Bike" function, so you can immediately know if what you selected, fits your bike. Mine are Freedom Performance Part Number MY00104, J&P Part Number ZZ38885. I can't tell you diameters on header sizes, etc. I called Freedom Performance, prior to my purchase, and spoke with one of their techs. This system comes complete, with everything you need, to entirely replace the stock system. No extra parts are needed. I also didn't have to make ANY modifications at all. I purchased (1) complete system from Freedom. Didn't even have to buy an extra screw, bolt, or anything else. It was an easy installation. Just remove the entire stock exhaust, all the way to the cylinder head, and replace it with the Freedom Performance system. It's really that simple. No special tools need. Common tools. I love the looks, and the sound of them. I've had them for almost 5 years now, and they're still looking good, and sound great. I listened to a set of Bassani's, before I bought these. I thought they sound like a VW, with no exhaust system, haha. Not for me. Freedoms have a deep rumble, and have a great sound when you get into the throttle, without bursting your eardrums. They're not that obnoxious, ridiculously loud sound. You can still comfortably talk with a passenger. I really love them, and haven't seen, or heard, anything that I like better. Hope this helps you.
