  • 1) YES there IS a lot of talking - it's a tutorial. I'm talking to teach you my process. I'm also chatty. So there's that.
    2)YES it IS long lol! It's a giant painting....it took a minute (or 45) to do!
    3)Hopefully this inspires you to try a giant painting of your own! :)
    *To see this painting dried and hanging you can visit the home page of my website www.maiganlynnart.com *
    We're getting ready to move, the house is up for sale, and we've started with the showings this week. And when people walk into my house to see it in all it's glory, this is the painting that greets them! I needed a statement piece for our tall entranceway. So I decided to kill two birds with one stone and turn it into a tutorial of sorts. Again, this is just my personal process. And yes.....that canvas was heavy and I'm glad I had been working out previously! lol!
    For this piece I used my Elmer’s glue-all mix pouring medium, 100% silicone oil in all colours except blacka and white, water, acrylic paint, torch, on an 24x48" canvas.
    You can see how I make my pouring medium here in this tutorial: • Poured Acrylic paintin...
    You can see how I mix my paints here in this tutorial: • Poured Acrylic Paintin...
    You can see how I create a Galaxy pour here: • Poured Acrylic Paintin...

    Why can’t people just leave a comment without thinking they have to critic every detail? I usually don’t say anything however after reading comment after comment about the music being distracting or the video was to long, its totally annoying and very rude. Remember this video wasn’t made specifically for you but for all of us. She cannot possibly make us all happy so that’s why we have options to fit each need ie: fast forward or volume down button.

    • @MaiganLynn
      @MaiganLynn  5 років тому +18

      Thank you for this! I actually try to be polite in responding to everyone but it wears you down a bit. I mean, some of the comments are helpful so I know how to better my videos but some of it IS really rude, like they forget I’m a real person and not purposely out to annoy or upset anyone. I’m here to teach and encourage. I can’t possibly please everyone.

    • @MB-mq1sf
      @MB-mq1sf 5 років тому +8

      Maigan Lynn I understand completely and most of us do unfortunately some seem to forget there's a real person reading these comments with real feelings. You explained what type of video this would be before you even started, that's all you can do. I guess with so many people on the internet its inevitable. Try not to let it bother you there's a few in every crowd🧐 lol. You keep doing you, and save your energy for this beautiful art and people who support it.

      If amateur videos are too annoying to watch she will lose viewers. Feedback is imperative to improve

    • @MaiganLynn
      @MaiganLynn  5 років тому +14

      Agreed, however, there’s absolutely zero need to be rude when commenting - human beings have this incredible ability to choose HOW they portray thoughts and opinions which means the need to be rude when doing so is completely unnecessary.

      i was raised that if i don't have anything nice to say, don't say anything at all. for whatever reason people watching youtube forget that its youtube. they get to watch for free. no cost to them. i completely agree with you. i don't understand why people are telling others how to do their videos. if they really have a problem with it, they can do their own videos.

      Thank you Liz! ☺️ Our military life so far has been such a while ride. Between my husbands tours and then switching from Army to Air Force and now flying the planes it’s been consistently inconsistent lol! I have no idea how we’re ever going to adjust to any kind of retirement after all of this lol!
      Well done on your 20 years! I have friends with Navy spouses and i know it’s not easy either. They always seem to be gone on months long missions out at sea for training or otherwise. It’s an interesting life but definitely not an easy one.

    PERFECT! I wondered how a huge one was done. I have never created a Pour Paint Art project before, haven't painted anything AT ALL before. Painting things has always intimidated me and I had to face the facts that I suck at being a Bob Ross making HAPPY TREES. LOL Anyway, I've been addicted to watching you people that do this type of art for six months and I have found that deep in me I can feel this type of art calling me! That's never happened. So, as with everything in my life, when I decide to go in to something, I GO IN BIG. I have one blank wall left in my bedroom and I want to do a 40X40 Inch painting using this style. I haven't seen anyone do anything bigger than a 11X12 Inch...so, this was very informative. I'm so excited, I can't wait!

    I literally learned SO MUCH from you! Thank you!! I never watch a video fully through but yours I was absolutely captivated with! You're funny, informative, to the point, all while being thorough somehow. Thank YOU girl, you are awesome and your art is beautiful. Thank you for inspiring me and for all the SUPER helpful info. Keep on keepin on! And to the ANNOYING/attention seeking people who are literally here only commenting on the sound and music (and back handed-ly with a smiley face after)... are you joking? Turn on closed captions if you don't like the music. Too loud? ITS 2019, TURN THE VOLUME DOWN! Can't figure out those two options? DON'T WATCH!! Can't wait to watch more of your videos girl... they are beyond what I've seen thus far on youtube.

      This is such a nice comment - thank you! I’m glad you found them so helpful!
      I am also shocked by some people and their comments lol. Especially when there is a simple solution that doesn’t require me to change everything for their specific needs. I will say, in comparison to what I see out in the rest of the UA-cam world, what I get on my channel isn’t so bad. It could be a whole lot worse. And 97% of the comments are really lovely. I don’t tolerate the negatives but I also don’t dwell on them either, much to the trolls dismay lol!
      Thank you again - your comment made my day 🙂

    When I would tie-dye shirts I would make art out of the drippings onto material underneath what I was working on as an attempt to get what you are doing with the acrylic paint pouring. My brain never made the leap. Beautiful work and I am going to try my hand at it as this looks fun and so organic. Thank you for sharing and I look forward to you showing how you finish the painting and coat it to protect it.

    Wow. Such a massive undertaking. So impressive. The patterns came out beautiful. I'm just starting out, and starting small, with cheaper supplies. I even have an old bottle of Valspar decorative effects clear glaze that I will try as a pouring medium. Just a test, on an eight by ten. Crossing my fingers on a minimal pigment-bleed.

      The first big pour commission I ever did was for a friend of mine so the pressure was on - I was terrified! lol! It IS a big undertaking but when they're done they're SO rewarding!
      I'm not familiar with Valspar as a pouring medium but wish you luck! Hope they turn out!

    Thank you so much for taking the time to explain all that you are doing! I was concentrating completely, on your style, and technique to even worry about the music. the music never bothered me at all. I'm very new to this, so wouldn't even begin to, nor feel it necessary, to criticize anything. But, I do tech people on soap making, and know exactly what you mean about people zooming in on one thing, and just HAVE to emphasize it. Your video was wonderful, and I loved every moment of it. Thank you again, loved your painting!

    Beautiful and thank you so much for wonderful tutorial. I found a good idea on another channel, just to help move the paint easier as it 'grabs' on the gesso surface is to paint with a brush some pouring medium onto the canvas around the outside of the poured areas and out to the edge. Looking forward to more , loving your work.

    Absolutely gorgeous! I'm a newbie to this style so I'm watching a lot of videos to learn what I can. It'll be a while 'til I'm ready to take on a large canvas. Thank you for our instructions(going to check out your other ones) you answered a question before I asked it,don't apologize for talking. I appreciate your time. You have a new subscriber :)

      Thank you so much! I practiced a lot on the 8x8 and 12x12 canvases before I tried anything substantial. And even when I did try a larger canvas I was terrified! lol! Thank you so much for watching and for your lovely comments! :)

    I would love to see how you varnish! I always enjoy your videos, talking or not😉. They are so informative and helpful in my process of learning. I remember when I first started pouring that listening to you made me relax about doing it my own way and having fun rather than trying to be perfect. Just want to say thanks for that. Hope you are well! Looking forward to more videos when you are able😁.

    Hello from west Australia, I found you today, totally loved your pour, loved everything you said & you are lovely. I’m new & 70, although I’ve been stumbling along for months, having trouble with consistency mostly, I’ve jagged a couple of pierces that are reasonable. Your tutorial helped me HEAPS, your explanations are brilliant. I’m now going to find your “how to” videos on How to begin & watch them. I’ve subscribed, hit the bell & liked. I’m SO happy I found you. I hope your house move was successful, probably stressful tho’. Keep them coming 🌹🌹💚🌹🌹

    Hello, thank you for engaging my attention, what I mean is that you explain reasons as to why paints react with other paints.. And much more. And what you design with Yr paints is amazing. Stay well.. From NZ.
    (You should get some handles for your canvas.)

    I watched the video. YES, there was a lot talking. That's what you do - paint and talk to teach. YES, the video was long. It took a long time to do the painting! You sound almost apologetic in your comments. Don't. For those who don't have time to learn thoroughly, there is always FF! Great painting, btw. I'll be back for more!

      Thank you Linda! I more or less state those things because I know if I don’t I’ll see it in the comments lol! My Galaxy tutorial had a few “too much talking” which made me laugh because how am I supposed to teach anyone if I don’t communicate thoroughly 😂
      Thank you for watching and taking the time to comment!

      I had a feeling that might be the case! That's why I made a feeble attempt at being your advocate. The folks in the painting world will appreciate your efforts. For those who don't or don't have time, well, they can just watch a video that is not as informative or just FF. You are doing a good job. Keep it up! I just found you. I subscribed and rang the bell! I'll be back for more!

      Of course you need to talk if you're teaching people how to do something! If viewers wants to get through the video faster, they can go to settings and change the speed from normal to 1.25, or even faster. Other viewers may want to slow it down and that is possible, too. Great video, by the way. I liked your explanation about the black and white as "base colors."

    • @dreamingrightnow1174

      Yes, I slow it down or speed it up depending on if I'm understanding it or not. Isn't it great we can do this, and people are making themselves available to share what they know? I like to think there are people all over the world from different walks of life that are going on YT to watch someone in their kitchen with some paints and some ideas about how to make a beautiful thing..
