Beautiful work Tammy! I have been watching Djamel's videos for several years!! He's a genius, and a very generous person with his teachings. In his video number 300 from two years ago he shows how to prep a canvas for this technique, if you do not want to use the mdf boards for kitchen.

Been watching him for a year. His techniques are so cool. Keep going back to watch. He does amazing things with spray paint that I have been able to replicate as a base for pouring. He is awesome.

Its a clever technique. Iv watched Djamel for a long time and got my self some laminated boards. I love the 3d look of it. You achieved that. Its such fun.
I just watched a video of this same technique, the gal was in Germany, except she spread a base texture using thinned paste. She added the paste making different textures then allowed it to dry before adding color. Just bought a bunch of new canvases, going to try it now. With and without the texture base. Love learning new stuff. Thanks Tammy.
I’m commenting again as I see the depth and detail of the dry result. Tammy! Just wow! I look forward to see where you take this technique! So exciting!
I've watched many of Djamel's videos coz his work is so mesmerizing! There's an old, traditional technique for decorating furniture which gives very similar results to this. It's called vinegar painting or putty graining. The base coat was oil paint and I believe the glaze was made with vinegar, sugar, dish soap and dry/powdered pigment or tempera. The technique was (still is) used to create faux effects like marbling, malachite, tortoise shell, wood grain like elm, maple, mahogany and loads of other intricate effects. The putty was rolled over coloured glaze to create endless patterns and effects. Rags, sponge, newspaper, combs, anything really, can be used to create gorgeous patterns. It's a really interesting technique with stunning results very similar to the one you are demonstrating. It's great that acrylic paints can also be used.
This is an Awsome technique , Thank you Tammy for introducing us to DJamel. I look forward to some of his videos, as well as more of yours. Lots of possibilities I see it my brain is exploding tell him I.
This was so amazing. Thanks for the tip. I just used gloss varnish on a canvas and got the same results. Also used gesso and sanded the canvas lightly and used gloss varnish and that worked also. You are one of the best showing us so much of your talent ❤
Wow! This perfectly matches my bathroom curtain colors... SOLD! I hope I get to you in time so I can be the owner of this gorgeous creature 😍 Looking forward to taking your class in Florida, I know it's going to be a blast!
This is cool! I have been following Jamal for some time and I love his work. He mostly uses a wood board for this type of artwork. As long as it's not porous it's good.
