I just did this on the Mrs. Sienna after watching your video, thanks. Some things I learned. You can push your rear camera cable back into the cable run so it is not hanging down and in frame. Also, you want this clean since that's just what will catch a cops eye as an "obstruction" and might pull you over. Keep the cables as hidden as possible. The wire running by the passenger door can be worked under the A-pillar trim. Your wire is running over the seam of that trim. That trim can be easily lifted up with the red tool that came with the kit, and the wire is completely hidden. If you can, just pry the trim and adjacent rubber rather than taking the entire trim off. Also, if you want the parking mode, you need the hardwire kit for $29, and there is a fuse just to the left and up from the brake pedal. The nice thing about the fuse box is that there are several open fuse slots, so you don't have to worry about accidentally screwing up an important system by piggybacking an active fuse. You will need to lie on your back on the floor mat to work on this panel but its not that hard. The kit includes a battery voltage cut-off, so if your car sits for a long time, the parking mode won't drain the battery.
Thank you so much for the tip. I didn't know that could be an issue with the police. I'm thinking of making a follow up video with all the things I've learned since installing this:)
Nice vid! You can use the Dongar adapter that wires the unit into your mirror above vs dangling wire into the cigarette lighter. Just push down the plastic cover in front of the mirror, pull the power plug, connect the Dongar adapter, and plug in the Vantrue. Also, you can run the rear camera wire through the wire tube connecter with all the other cables going to the hatch back, vs have more exposed dangling wires for the rear camera.
Awesome Video! Your review was the best I've viewed, better than some of the confusing high-tech videos. VANTRUE should hire you to do their videos. "YOU ROCK GIRL"
Hi Ahmed, you have to purchase the memory card separately. You can access the recordings while linked to Bluetooth in the car or by taking the memory card out and downloading to another device. Hope this helps!
Thanks for this - I have one of these and I was hesitant to use that static cling sheet between the windshield and the adhesive. My other dash cams have all stuck directly to the windshield and the plastic looked sketchy. Since I saw you install it with that, I feel better about it.
Seems like a good cam! But would the wire hinder the functionality of the side airbags? Curious about your opinion on running the wires in front of the airbags...
Good question. I'm not 100% sure but my thoughts are that these are hanging out at the top of the airbag and not wrapped around the middle. The only true way to know is to ask a pro. I'm also seeing a lot of others who do these installations at shops videos and they are using the same technique. I'm planning to make some adjustments in the future to address the wires in the back of the van.
I double checked with the manufacturer and they confirmed that you need to have it hardwired to use the park mode which keeps the dash cam on without draining your battery. Vantrue does sell this separately on their site.
Do you have to unplug the cigarette lighter power cord so it won't drain your van battery? Or does turning your engine off turn iff the cigarette lighter also?
I am leaving mine plugged into my mini van and it's been fine. I'm not an expert, so you should probably check your vehicle manual. The alternative is to get a separate kit to hardwire it to the car.
I've been using it now for a month and I haven't encountered any issues with it. Vantrue also offers a 12 month warrantee on all products (such as sold on Amazon) and you get a better one 18 months if you register on their website. Don't worry, I'm not going to "steer" you wrong here;) I'm loving it.

Thanks for the pointer. I'll definitely look into that! 😇

You go girl! It seems intimidating at first, but then its like solving a puzzle. I'm glad I could help. 😀
Packing include the memory card or we need to buy separately ? How can we access the recording ?

Would be nice if a dash cam without wires was invented
Yassss, that would be a dream come true!
how would it be powered?
Only way is to get them hardwired

Glad it was helpful! I didn't know either until I applied it but it's holding up and looks great!
Seems like a good cam!

I can’t seem to get the interior camera with color, only the front camera is showing color. Any tips?
I've never had that issue before. I would recommend contacting customer service through there website: www.vantrue.com/products/nexus-5
Thank you
You're welcome! I'm so glad I can help.
So do I need a hardwire kit?
Hey Karleigh, No. Everything is included in the box except the memory card. I wired it myself and it is plugged into the lighter charger. 👍
Can you still use the parking mode if it gets powered by the lighter charger? Does it still record when the car is off?
No. You need the wiring kit with one connection active with the ignition and one that stays active when the ignition is off.

@@reviews_by_annie thx great to know it doesn't drain your battery, and figured out how to install it yourself. Thx for sharing this info👍🏾
@@bqktwcommentary You're always welcome. I plan to do a follow up video on this. So it's great having all these questions!
Is it worth it? Too many bad reviews, say the camera has powering on issues.

@@reviews_by_annie ok. Thanks.
