Beautiful finishes and such well-made drums.
Seen nicko mcbrain hanging out when I played there at namm his kit is on display behind him in the beginning with the teddy bear I love the German beach woods !!
yes,,,in the Mapex manufacturing plant,,,,,
To me is all about the feel, playability, sound....Technical details never really bother me, all of these brands make great top lines, and some other lines, too. Never been a great fan of Sonor,,,,
Nomeans No-- Subjective comment.. I once had a Mapex hihat stand and the pull rod chain link snapped after 5 gigs, and this was a high end series hi hat stand that i bought 15 years ago. I played a festival this past summer and the rental kit was a Mapex Armory mid range kit. Looked like a cheap Westbury set with wobbly free floating rims, and an extremely frail, formica floor looking veneer finish, oh, and not to mention the imitation DW cymbal stands with the elongated cymbal tilter handle.. Absolute crap. Ludwig and DW's mid range kits blows Mapex out of the water. However, Mapex does have nice high end kits like the Saturn V series.. I, however, am a Sonor man. Nothing beats German engineering, as you can clearly see..
According to the internet: They are made in China with German tooling and German trained workers. They are made in the same factory as Mapex, but use an entirely different assembly line and much better materials.
Mapex have always been seen as "crap" but have become very good quality in the last decade or so. KHS Instruments is Mapex parent company and is now half-owned by Sonor, so Mapex now has Sonor German engineering behind it, despite being made in Taiwan etc which is actually quality manufacturing these days - it's simply cheaper labour now but the quality is just as good or better than "1st world made" products.
I love the armory series - it is better quality than similar priced series in other drum manufacturer's lines and the snares are simply wicked beasts at that price point
MAPEX IS NOT BUILDING SONOR DRUMS, CHECK YOUR FACTS. Ray is partially right. KHS is the parent company of both Mapex and Sonor but that is for DISTRIBUTION, not Drum Building or Manufacturing. It's like Coca-Cola owning Mcdonalds, Wendy's, and other restaurants and chains. They don't make the burgers.
I love Sonor and this guy did a great job, but he does sound like Seigfried from Get Smart! Shmottt- vee don't play Zonor in Kaos!
2:50 "So we got 5 different bass drum sizes: 14", 16", 20, 22 and (*awkward silence*) 20"..."
Ok yeah, that was pretty funny. The concerned look on his face was priceless! But the 5 bass drum sizes in the AQ2 series are 14", 16", 18", 20", 22".
Are the aq2 made in China?
yes these are manufactured in china
No Germany
Germany
only sq2 and prolite are manufactured in Germany
MrGuppie14263 wood is Chinese maple, put together with the colors and hardware in Germany
One of a Kind snare drum, but 99 of them made. I don't get it.
Are these made in Germany?
The SQ2 and the ProLite series are made in Germany. The AQ1 and AQ2 series are replacements of their Force series, which was made in China.
Long & McQuade Musical Instruments I wish they would make them all in Germany 🇩🇪 why don’t they make all of them in Germany?
Mainly to keep costs down. Labour in Germany is more expensive than in China.
Long & McQuade Musical Instruments as long as quality control is good, then it’s cool. It’s still German engineering lol.
This is true, and their quality control is top notch. Plus if you purchased any kit from us, you'll be protected against quality defects with our free Performance Warranty.
Ha ha...poor man. When he tries to say "rack tom", it sounds like rectum!
Hahaha
DrummerGrrrl How good is your German?
Dear Lothar German is not the World speaking language its ENGLISH and no one mather about German language....gust Keep Queit ..!!!!
she just not must learn German ..You must learn English... thats the language of the World
DrummerGrrrl 3:00
I got back into drumming by buying a Sonor Force 3007 kit back in 2010. There were a lot of good things about that kit but the 12in rack was particularly problematic. It was hard to tune and didn't sound good. Also, they keep changing the lugs but still haven't changed those stamped steal bass drum claws. They're outdated and cheap-looking. Even Tamas Silver Star line came with diecast claws. Time to up your intermediate drum kit game Sonor
Need a slide track mount for the tall ppl ace.
Richard Goldman- Lol ! Sonor artist Benny Greb is like fucking 6'3 and plays a 10-16-20 configuration with ease.. Not a very wise comment, "ace"..
Rhythmista Poor example. 1 mounted tom (on bass drum) needs no slide track. Two toms on the bass drum creates position issues. I can see you have little experience with this, it is an obvious positioning dilemma.
Use a rack.
since 2 month i am owner of a new martini kit BUT ...... the truth: the snare bed is not good......the plastic stripes to fix the snare wire slips thrue the holder !! dont wonder if you have problems with the wire tension. all lugs of the drum need massiv grease (oil) is this price range ... disapointing. one screw turning with fingers ..the next bolt is clamping. the heads doesnt resonate ..the bater heads...... 750,- € kit in europe ;-( so if you wont to play silent-not to loud the heads doesent work...china here china there. for little help: 8" and 13" toms change the resonant heat to the top and tune the fat bater heads ,that works now as resonant head a little lower than normal. the resonat heads on top will open the kit.......iam german and iam very disapointed about sonors little kit. greetings thomas.........oh i forgot the problem with the bassdrum hub on the batter side....the kickdrum pedal is to fare from the head away the angle of the pedal beater is much to big........because the woodhoops in conection with the bassdrum riser is touching the chain of the basspedal...... need to cut out the hoop. than you get closer withe pedal.
I just bought one and it’s as china 🇨🇳 as rice. It’s lost it’s German touch
as a product Manager from sonor you must learn a better english Dialekt....i am a sonor Player,...but please learn english
As a product manager from Sonor which is a German country, we think his handle on English as his second language is fantastic.
His English is fine. He's talking about drums, not Marxist theory or Shakespeare.
I´ll bet his english is better than your german!
thats right dear Dirk because he is a german ,i am from Jaffa Israel. just Keep speaking Your Language !!!
Really? I can't understand a word he's saying. I can only imagine how "fantastic" your English is.
