This is absolutely outstanding. I don't care that there's no band backing him. Even as an old man with health issues he has a stunning ability to tell a story, pull a crowd of strangers into his world, get people to sing along. I was most surprised when he stopped strumming at one point during a song and just sang for a moment a cappella. His voice is still amazing. He's a very gifted artist. I imagine this is what it would be like to have DAC come over for dinner and perform an impromptu set in your living room. Thanks for sharing this.

He spent his entire teen years and earlty life in prison....in the 70's.....yeah I think he gets a little slack. Also, one of his DVD concerts (Billy Bob's or something) he has a black drummer. Really doubt he would have a BLACK drummer if he was such a racist piece of shit. Dude....there are LOTS of dimensions to everything - seeing his history lucky he isn't really racist.

By far one of the best songwriters in the entire world! DAC is a true musician! I recently saw him in Baton Rouge and I consider it a high point in my life.
DAC is the REAL deal. One of the greatest song writers of modern times, and that's not just country music. There is nothing on the horizon today like him except maybe Hank 3.

I don't know much about David Allen Coe, all I know is that he wrote dirty songs but watching this guy perform at the age of 75 is like a revelation. I dont think I have ever seen a more naturally gifted singer, songwriter, performer. He is absolutely effortless in his ability to hold the attention of an audience and entertain. It's a remarkable thing to see.

I worked as an audio engineer at the Wheeling WV Jamboree USA first as a grunt, then the lighting operator , then the audio monitor engineer. David played there many times. I can say one thing as a pretty decent guitarist myself and an engineer that this guy is not the best musician in the world but he damn sure wrote a helluva good country song and he wrote many. Nobody can take that away from him. He earned it the hard way. I grew up the same way. Hard knox and learning. I was only locked up once though for 2 months and learned I didn't want to go back. show business saved my life.

My band and I played with him twice last year. As you can imagine, we were excited to learn we were playing with the legend. The first time he had a decent band but his singing and guitar skills were lacking and left the crowd underwhelmed. That was in March. In November we played with him again and the week of, his band all quit on him so it was just him playing that out of tune guitar and his wife banging away on that tambourine. I'm sure he did the best he can do but it was still pretty rough.
