Can I Evolve a BLIND SPECIES in Spore?

- Spore Blind Run ~ Cell to Creature to Tribal Stage - lots of interesting Spore challenges out there, and I wanted to give the no eyes challenge a try. Expect more Spore challenges soon.
Tried this old gem for a change and more of a written style than my normal comments, as I felt it was conducive to that in that way.

“You may not be able to be friends with everyone, but you can definitely eat everyone.”
Its a lot of effort but you can do everything if you put your mind to it!
Philosophically true as you cant force people to choose to be your friend, but their choice doesn't matter if you eat them :)
Such wise words

Ah, yes, i click on the video and i'm immediately spoiled to what the final creature looks like, i love the new mobile comments system from youtube and definitely don't miss the old one
Pokémon is a wild game indeed.

Amphibian says everyone hates the creature stage but I believed everyone hated everything after the creature stage
Oh yeah. Big hate on everything past creature.
Spore was a massive disappointment all over. Doesn't matter what part you specifically dislike, it's still a complete shell of what had been shown on E3 back in the day. As such, while you can have a lot of fun in Creature stage, it utterly sucks and is a joke.
@@Zeithri yeah, you can look up the prototype of spore, and it seems like they planned for the game to be much more
i wonder if they were forced to release the game in this state due to budget costs or such
if that's the case, then that was crime against humanity from EA
@@Nikotin-lu1xo I know. I WAS THERE. I WAS THERE WHEN THE STRENGTH OF MEN FELL.
In other words we watched E3 at school and we were all completely taken aback and amazed by Spore's presentation, and the comedy parts from the late Robin Williams. We read articles about how Spore was gonna be used in school for education purposes. It seemed like it'd be Maxis' magnus opus.
And then EA happened. Specifically they wanted to dumb it down so it'd be approachable for kids.. And it became Maxis' disappointing swansong, and the fantastic Will Wright quit gaming. So with one fell swoop, EA games killed everything for the sake of a few dollars.
I like the space stage.
now spore is something i’d love to see more of in 2021
on god bro
Same
We could all use more spore
Spore content is always nice to see.
With a crapload of mods.
For added immersion, I will watch this video with my eyes closed.
*SPORE!*
I've been nostalgic to return here for awhile! Have been working on a few more narrative form videos lately, as I just enjoy doing the writing for commentary as an end product rather than "in the moment" types of commentary when I look at it as an overall video production, though expect more of both soon. Just experimenting to keep it interesting. Hope you enjoy!
Oh I will enjoy, thanks so much for make great and honestly quite informative videos. Keep up the amazing work.
Its more about you, than the games you play. Keep going!
idk man, something about herbivore plants doesn't sound as peaceful as it should
I like the variety AA.
Some days you ask "why?" Those are the days for narrative.
Some days you ask "how?" Those are the days for profiting off organ far---hotels.
I got good memories of playing this on my parents iMac, thanks for the throwback! Good commentary on using escapism to explore ideas. Preach, brother.
Does he not know that you can recruit other members of your own species in creature stage? No wonder he hated that stage, that must of been hard as hell.
Playing without a pack of your own species sounds like hell
@@mrsentrybuster it actually isn't, because you can recruit rogues and they have so much health and can just tank everyone for you. I've been doing this since my childhood
@@HameleoshaDeHoga I know, but have you tried to befriend a rogue without your pack helping you?
i actually learned that like few months ago, no wonder why normal mode was so hard
@@HameleoshaDeHoga yes but he didnt befriend any animal and its practically impossible to do that without a pack
Honestly, a completely black screen with certain "tells" depending on what's around you provided by your other senses would be cool. Black screen, but footsteps can be detected with ears or sensitive little hairs on your body that're on the ground so you can sense the vibrations. Or being able to smell what's around you. Much more limited idea of what's around you, just outlines, based on if you have stuff like whiskers or similar that "feel" around you, that kind of thing.
That way it could be accessible to blind players too, like Lost and Hound
Bro, my dog fell asleep with your voice. Each time I pause the video he wakes up, it's so goddamn cute.
Your dog has phenomenal taste. He's so soothing
@@emerlad3638 he can taste them??

I mean, devs could have added things like echo-location and other ways to get "visual" info. There's plenty of games where you don't exactly see things, but they are still fun to play.
Although, adding such gimmick for a single mode in a game with 5 different ones is not efficient.
Kinda like Subnautica's cyclops scan thing
I remember trying to watch someone create a limbless blind worm species that went on to take over the galaxy lile a decade ago.

Wish we had a new game like spore these days with actual evolutionary knowledge and where it really depends what parts you use and how you evolve
I once became a god in spore with nothing but a blob with a cell-stage mouth
you can do anything in spore
You should look up the Spore as a Pitiful Worm.
Spore is like if someone created cell stage and then realized they had 4 more assignments for the homework 1 day before the deadline
broo the civilization stage is sick comon. it actually requires a bit of strategy if you play it on hard mode. and you can costumize buldings and viechils ( i know i spelled some words wrong but you get the idea)
Watching this at 5 in the morning really makes you contemplate about life and society with its hierarchical structures, damn man i gotta sleep not philosophise about how a person is defined by their social interactions and relationships with others...
BOTTOM TEXT.
6am here as of this moment lol
Precious thoughts.
as a herbivore you can actually befriend everyone, you get a special ability from being a herbivore in cell stage that allows you to calm down those super aggressive creatures, afterwards you can befriend them as usual (super easy since they dont have a lot of social stuff)
so long as It's quiet and I can whistle I am never truly blind.
just stay away from cliffs or raised platforms.... if you can help it 😉
@@Youre-so-right he’s not blind though his channel shows he plays video games and his pfp shows him in a car.
@@childeryeeter4202 op's just saying they know how to echolocate as a cool thing, not that they're blind and echolocate to replace their sight completely
The best playthrough I ever had of Spore, I made my species into a race of animated Twinkies. Our bodies were reduced to the minimum size, and we only had a single eye above a plain mouth. We eventually arose to become a galactic empire, dropping bombs with enough force to level entire cities in one blow, and driving countless species into extinction, storing the last remnants of their doomed species aboard my flagship to launch into orbit at my leisure. It was a good time all 'round.
You have got the most low-key, soothing and erudite voice for words that are just the most chaotic-neutral I've ever heard at times.
I LOVE SPORE!
One of my favorite games ever- even though its hugely flawed. Always happy to see modern spore content. Really a shame the game never received a proper sequel. A modern gen spore that applies the lessons learned from it's predecessor would be an instant-buy!
I agree. There are mods if you want to check those out by the way, I recommend Dark Injection and SporeStacker
Honestly all AA's philosophical talking really calms me down. I don't know what I'd do without my weekly dose of philosophy.
"Or some other inanimate object like a chair" Suddenly I feel a strong urge to evolve a species of chairs
Would love to see a modern Spore-like game. Based on the original spore that was announced. With all the features that were cut out and more. Like an underwater stage and the ability to drag bodies around. When I got it as a kid I was disappointed that those features weren't in the game.
I think there should be a whole Aquatic evolution route where your creature stays underwater the whole time, even getting a little tank in their spaceship at the end
I quite like the creature stage, especially in comparison to the later stages. I agree that the cell stage was probably the most fun though, even if the time in it for each run was limited.
He does know about the "omnivore" option, right? Right?
But seriously, I need more spore.
He literally evolved into a walking stick, perfection
I finally understand why I like your vids. They are like an essay.
I think it would be cool to watch you do all of the free-to-play quests in old school runescape.
"creature stage" and "universally hated" cannot and will not exist in the same sentence. BetterSpore is a mod for a reason.
I thought BetterSpore was dead?
Came here for the title, stayed for the life philosophy and existential metaphors, 10/10 would watch again
I would like to see sentient pizza please. Watching you play spore was even more poetic than usual, that is to say I enjoyed it very much.
thank you for gracing us with this pleasure
I remember passing through the Shaded Citadel in Rain World long before the game gave me the tools to do so in light, and I traveresed a completely black screen by pinging the mini-map using sound and the game's sound design as a whole. In that instance a black screen was engaging.
I feel Rainworld would be a good fit for you, though I don't know how being that it could be a longer game. The philosophy is already there, though
I just wish I could stay in the creature stage and become one of those giant monstrous creatures
As a person who never played anything after the creature stage up untill a few months ago, I must say I absolutely LOVED the creature stage
Ah yes. A new upload. God smiles upon me today
The tree creature's fast little hop is so damn funny to me lmao

SPORE!!!! I haven't seen this game in way too long.
I never knew ears would have an effect in the game at first. For how many years I've been playing this game I never realized it. And I got a good pair of headphones all the fixings. I went back to this game as it's my own time favorite and as I was evolving I put years on my creature and suddenly I could hear everything too. So I went back and took them off and realized how dull the world sounded. If you have a good pair of headphones you can just navigate the world just your ears alone and the more you have the better the animals hearing is I think it's one set can earn you enough for a certain amount of radius. Well two sets can make you here over the hill for example.
I remember playing with a blind creature before a patch that added new animations and stuff.
The radius of vision in the creature stage was much more dark and limited and was actually hard! But then the patch came and changed it to the brighter, grey scale thing that your video shows... I remember being upset over the update because I liked the unique challenge of playing blind and the update giving you more vision ruined it :(
Leave it to the modders
Oh wow I’ve missed spore, it’s good to see it again, especially from AA
I’ve always wanted to do a literal blind run of Spore, playing as a blind giant bat species that uses its ears to see
I love listening to your stories you make with your videos. Your voice is super calming and helps me fall asleep.
I just found you like 4 videos ago and couldn’t stop watching. Love your content, great work!
i always stay in the creature stage as long as i can, because once it goes into the tribal stage because keeping track of several members at the same time is annoying. and i loath the space stage because it takes sooooo damn long to do anything. it would be cool to keep playing as an individual into other stages.
We need to get some high-res graphical mods for _Spore_ like we have for _Skyrim_ .
I honestly have no idea why I love just hearing you start the videos with hello. It makes me happy and feels good for some reason
An older version of the game had it that literally the only thing you could see without eyes--in creature or cell stage--was yourself and anything in direct contact with you.
Your videos always put a big grin on my face, thank you for making my day dude :)
God this commentary is so captivating I love it
“Household objects, like plants and a tree”
Pretty sure most of those are out in nature, not in households
i think this is the first time i've ever seen someone do this before. Thanks for making this video! I remember searching for videos of a playthrough like this last year and finding no results.
Brings back memories, and horrors of what friends used to make
Fantastic, my favorite tentacle monster simulator!
A spore no legs run is quite something, and it affects you in tribal stage. I remember having a tribe of hats wriggling along the ground, completely concealing the legless creature underneath.
Excellent narration. Your philosophy has changed my thinking about modern media and storytelling, and I am inspired.
Universally hated stage?? How many people have you actually asked about this? Because im pretty sure it was everyone's universally favorite stage
Man watching this was like getting punched in the face with nostalgia
Brilliant. I need more A.A. playing anything. I love this dude and I'm hooked on his videos
i love the way your treestump moved around in Creaturestage ... almost like a jackhammer going rouge and running away ^^
Hey AA, long time watcher, first time commenter
I have a small complaint, it feels like recently in your videos you've taken an approach of reading a loose script over pre-recorded footage.
Whilst this is very nice to listen to in the background, I do miss the style of video where you would narrate gameplay as it happened, first reactions and all.
I feel this video missed a trick, there were times I wondered "Why has he changed to herbivore from omnivore?" "What was AA's reaction to growing a brain, maybe he will have a quip?" etc, etc.
These quips never came and I was disappointed. I feel that may be to do with the fact you were trying to tell a story as opposed to enjoying the ride with us.
Show don't tell and all that jazz
I will continue to watch your videos... But with a hesitant reflection of what once was
Yours... forever, Wilbur Soot
Oh hey it's the Soothouse guy.
Look to the top comment my guy :) Experimenting keeps it fresh for me and it's always a cycle to keep re-inventing the formula. Otherwise I'd have run out of ideas long ago ^.^
And the most unexpected comment of my night goes to...
Truly strange to have watched both soot house and the JackSucksAtLife ARG as they happened, and then for you to become a big streamer
I don't like this either, commented many times about it, nothing changes. Apparently there is a host of people who like this phylo drama approach, although it isn't funny or refreshing as older vids "Let my people go! Let your arm go!"...I come by from time to time...when there is a new game...too bad most of them have depressing teaching flavor.

I remember when I was a kid I was watching a guy who played as phallic pikachu in Spore. Good old times.
with narration this good you don't even need video, thanks for the bed-time vids!
Ok you want a real challenge in spore? *THE ALL PARTS CHALLENGE* create a creature with every possible body part on it.
That would be really easy
@@floppaquest4916 easy but time consuming
I watched a man beat this game without evolving at all, so my guess is 50/50
I love it. I can only imagine the shenanigans you might get up to making videos of the space era.
Yoo another video essay type video! I love how you make such different types of videos but still keep your (Brand? Personality? Take on things?) This video reminds me of Leadhead on their takes on many different games and it always makes me feel fuzzy inside and makes me think about more than just the game. Gl on your move!

Why did I cry watching a spore play through? I love this
"Transcending uglyness through power" is the motivation of the villain in red dragon 😅
I enjoy every episode you make because you turn it into a philosophical life lesson and moment
Very nice, it's been so long since I last saw a Spore video. Great to see it again.
Goddamn, that was just downright enjoyable!
More Spore would be a treat! It's somehow still an entertaining game to watch!
2:45 You basically just described O&M instruction. When I was educated in sighted-guide, one of the tests was to cross a street blindfolded, then successfully make my way into a restaurant. They wanted to make sure I had at least a grasp on a blind person's early steps. I did the same as you, trained my senses to be able to detect by touch and committing the placement of things to a longer memory, and I actually passed the mini-exam with no issues. I was perfectly able to listen out for traffic and people, while finding an edge to follow with my fingertips. Even the blind friend I was doing it for was impressed. Keep doing what you do, the one common theme I've noticed about many disabled people is that they are bothered by those without issues, who take their abilities for granted. You are properly appreciating your vision, that's all many blind people would ask of you.
I honestly like the creature stage also i think of a meme
Herbivore and Carnivore: so when i can not starve to death every second and make it fast?
Omnivore: that is the fun part, you don't
honestly, I think if the spore devs were to take a page out of in silences book it would be super cool. if your screen was technically black but showed where sound was coming from, and added some kind of scent mechanic, where you would see trails of color(color changing based on what it was, ie fruits could be a purple trail, herbivores could show as green, and carnivores could be an orange color etc.) idk, it still wouldn't personally be as fun, but at least it would be something for people who want to do a challenge like this
I love the philosophical poetry you can draw out of these games. For sure, there is a deep meaning waiting to be noticed beneath just about every aspect of life, & hearing your voice narrate these 'neurotic undercurrents' is truly a unique experience. I'm a huge fan. I love this niche & am always looking forwards to the new stuff you put out 🥸✌️
that starfish picture popping up when you said "upset" made me giggle really intensely, I've got no clue why
oh hey! it is you! i watched a lot of your project zomboid content and now that i got interested in spore, you popped up again! wow
Holy duck 9 minutes onwards is so real I was not ready for it.
I’ve only recently subscribed
But your philosophical commentary, along with your relaxing and calm commentary? Have been genuinely interested and thoughtful about my own perception on things.
Lol wtf, of all things you’re one of the things to open my eyes to things.
Crazy.
Love your stuff.
Gg bro.
Amphibian bringing the top quality narration we've all come to know and love.
Your editing style and commentary is absolute quality man your an inspiration to smaller creators and watching your videos get so much better over time is more than satisfying, your gonna be a massive channel with a dedicated fan base in a lot shorter of a time then I’m sure anyone thinks. Your effort is more than appreciated and thank you so much for the quality ass content
Amazing. More spore challenges. It's such nostalgic gem
Nice! I did a blind creature playthrough many years ago. I don't think I ever evolved this species past creature stage. I really liked the grayscale and vignette effect.
I subbed on a spore video but your Kenshi series is what got me to decide just so you know because everyone has forgotten Kenshi don't be everyone
Do more with this type of zeal! Love it!!
I really like the amount of creativity that goes on in your videos, and the dedication too! I mean if it were me and I saw that things were getting difficult, I won't have continued to play the game for long after that XD
I was initially only here for the Kenshi content, but this is gold.
i absolutely love this channels combination of games and philosophy
I'm going to assume that at 1:37 you said:
"But when no one else loves you, at least you still have your-*CELL*-f."
I always love this guy’s narration
Spore was nice... but I can only think how it could have been so much more...
Nice video, that bring me back :)
Love Spore videos!! Super nostalgic game for me. 😻
This video inspired me to play spore again.
I made the best creature I have ever made in 1000 hours of spore.
I get to the very end of creature stage (arguably the worst stage) and the game crashed.
I never saved the game.
RIP in peace Scumubrius you will be missed
Every time I see a spore video I remember the old gameplay reveal and it just makes me morn what could have been.
