They arent replaced or fixed anymore because they are to "dangerous" so of course it was the most fun thing there. I do not remember what animals our zoo actually has contained or currently contains. Except they had owls at one point
Imagine walking into a zoo and seeing a gazelle in a 5x10 foot cage, but it’s the happiest gazelle you’ve ever seen. Sounds like a weird but great experience
Not exactly the same but I had a vaguely similar experience to this in Japan. It was when the baby panda had been moved to its enclosure with its mother in Ueno zoo, being an obvious foreigner I was shoved to the front of the viewing area and when the panda came out of a hidey hole literally every Japanese woman in the crowd lost their minds over it. It was wild.
Until you return next year and notice that one small detail is wrong about the gazelle. A white blaze it didn't have before. Darker hooves, maybe. Every time you stopped by you notice something isn't the same as it used to be. And then you come to the shocking realization that... The gazelle was different every time. All previous gazelles died because even if an animal is happy for a short while it can never truly thrive in a tiny cage like that. And suddenly you discover that you are locked in. And now the gazelle is observing you instead of the other way around.
It sounds like a roadside attraction you see out in the countryside. "THE WORLD'S HAPPIEST REINDEER" a sign reads, followed by the text, in smaller print, clearly added later "+Mike's Grill & Tortillas" If I then go there and in fact that it is the happiest reindeer that I have ever seen, I'd probably tell people about it.

The fact that the animals actually have pretty detailed animations of hitting and mauling guests means the developers KNOW someone's gonna try what amphibian did here.
I think this zoo works because the guests are happy to see the happy gazelle exhibit, and the gazelle enjoys the irony of the human exhibit being overcrowded, with poor facilities, cheap food, and a lack of entertainment. It is a vicious circle of happiness.

I feel like this video is the appropriate place to explain a fun exploit I once found in this game that I've not seen mentioned before anywhere that lets guests enter your zoo but not leave. Each tile in the game can fit 4 small rocks, one for each quarter, if you place 2 small rocks on the left side of a tile and 1 small rock on the upper left corner of a tile (upper-left from the POV of the guest entering the zoo) then guest will be able to pass through on the way in but not leave. Make sure you do it between the 2 ticket booths or between 2 fences or else guests will simply walk around. This will cause guests to wander around off the path looking for an exit for a bit but they will go back and walk around the zoo again soon after. This exploit isn't good for guest happiness nor is it ethical, but it is very good to get 1000 guests into your zoo as quickly as possible to release dinosaurs and watch the carnage, the correct way to play Zoo Tycoon.
Imaging an actual zoo with only one single gazelle and thousands of guests are pouring in, packed tightly with barely any space to walk AND THEY ARE WILLING TO PAY MONEY FOR IT!

Great video as always! I remember a time long long ago when I played Zoo tycoon and I always lowered the guests into the alligator enclosure and then cut them off from the entrance.
how zoo tycoon works is an enigma even to me, a person who frequents tf1 forums. I found out recently that you can kidnap (keep in an enclosed, walled-off area) a few guests and keep them in their own mini-enclosure with a clear view of the animals for max happiness. I suspect this works on a similar premise to the 1-animal zoo thing. Trapped guests will not, in my experience, eat, drink, or do anything other than wander where you've put them. Presumably they're stuck in a "I've seen everything in this zoo and want to leave" loop where they don't do anything but try and leave. Or maybe being trapped in an enclosed space messes with their behavior somehow. They can, however, look at animals. Which they have no choice but to do if they're walled in next to an exhibit. As long as the animals are happy and they have a clear view (which they should have, being kidnapped and kept in a small square) they'll be extraordinarily happy. Even as their needs fall into oblivion, and they need to eat and pee and drink, they'll be happy. I honestly have no idea how this works. I've used it in campaigns that require high % guest happiness. Just kidnapping a bunch of people to skew the results so that 25% of the park is permanently overjoyed at being kidnapped, kept in a few tiles, looking at the same 10 animals.
I did a similar thing In the rollercoaster tycoon corkscrews add on. you got access to a one way do not enter sign you could slap across your entrance so new ppl could come in but nobody could leave 😆
