That dark ride is actually brand new it used to be a really cute scooby doo interactive ride
As a San Antonio native I’m glad to see our six flag get put on the map here and displayed!, that pirates of the deep sea ride was taken over from scooby doo but to be honest I like the new pirates more then I did scooby doo , and Iv been going to this park for about a decade.
I think when I was in high school it was where you could buy your season passes. That was like 20 years ago, though.

Oh Jacob, we feel your pain, we decided on the Six Flags pass too about a few years ago... but we added the picture pass as well, and it was like a scavengers hunt to find the office to get it... it really discourages me to EVER go through that again!

Glad you didn’t let the bureaucratic claptrap ruin your day but it was still unfair. Also the way you handled the ferris wheel situation is quite admirable. Hopefully, you’ll get an even chance. Have to believe that good trumps bad! (Its also NOT cool to discriminate against “single riders”). 🤞👌✌🏼
As a ride operator it's not the parks fault that single rider rules exist it's the manufacturer of the ride that recommends it.
@@austingrozier1520 I totally agree. Six Flags is following the manufacture's recommendation. As a single rider, I just ask someone if I can ride with them. All he does is spends minutes complaining about the obvious.

Unfortunately, the season pass thing happens at most of the big chains. To be safe, always go to the park you purchased the season pass for first before going to any of the other parks in the chain. Fiesta Texas is pretty much my home park and is one of the best Six Flags park in the chain. They actually have some really good live shows with some awesome talent.

Hey... I’ve worked a Ferris wheel.... the weight distribution Is the true reason. I’ve seen these go off balance... they get stuck.
Really? I worked a kiddie ferris wheel for a summer and we decided to test the theory on a slow day by quadrupling the maximum weight limit in one car and leaving the rest empty. It wasn't any different than if we'd had it perfectly balanced, but I'd imagine it was a lot more dangerous than doing it on a full-sized one because it was on wheels and not really anchored to anything (that I knew of.)

I would love to explain the beginning for you.
Memberships are the way, but it seems you bought a Season Pass.
Whatever park you buy it at is the park you must activate it at. Meaning your photo or thumb scan must be registered in their system first. Each park has different prices and is in a different state. Different laws and rules per park so that also adds to why they make you use it at that specific park.
Once you activate it at that park- it can be used at others. Each park has a different set of rules, different state so different laws, different sales and taxes. So they don’t just allow you to redeem it anywhere.
Sorry about the confusion you had- it’s not fun. I had to learn about it all myself

As someone in the industry who has been visiting parks for 40 years I can vouch for ferris wheels needing balanced for operation purposes - there is far less strain on the motors that drive the tires when wheels are balanced. Usually you will see wheels loaded with groupings of riders in 4 sections evenly spaced, and it only becomes a fully loaded wheel if the park is busy enough. This also applies to some of the older carnival rides that need balanced like Rock O Planes, Spiders, Monsters, etc. Balancing is key to smooth operation and less strain on motors. While the other reasons seem based on that individual park’s experiences and what they deem important, balancing is something all parks have to deal with but my guess is some just use other reasons to avoid confusing general public with math and physics. Anyways always loved this park’s unique setting. Hope you got on Iron Rattler! 😎
Worked here in high school the first year that it opened. They made us wear little German style shorts and suspenders. I need to go back and visit because I know I wouldn’t recognize it now.

Fiesta Texas, has always had roller coaster, even before 6 flags own it. The family who originally owned the park, opened up a park called ZDT in Seguin Texas. You should check that place out.

It’s true. The wheel has to be balanced. There’s actually a little skill behind operating larger Ferris wheels.

Hey Carpetbagger! You should go to South Texas (: We are having the Rio Grande Valley Livestock Show in Mercedes in March ! There is also a festival called Borderfest happening in early March. You’ll see a lot of Winter Texans down here. There’s several museums as well as flea markets in the RGV (Rio Grande Valley)

I love Fiesta Texas! I remember when it first opened. I wish we still had our season passes, though we live closer to SeaWorld than to Fiesta Texas. Enjoy your time in San Antonio.

I think the medical emergency explaination for the no single riders policy makes the most sense. There would be no one in your car to get the operator's attention if you were having a stroke, heart attack, epileptic episode, allergic reaction, etc...

We went there the first summer Fiesta Texas opened. God knows if I’d even recognize it 27 some odd years later
It only took me 22 years later to go back very different compared to when it opened.

From the stories I’ve heard about Six Flags, the company as a whole is nothing but trouble. Which is sad, cause I’ve enjoyed a few of their parks. But as an adult, nothing compares to Silver Dollar City so I’ll just stick to their passes and system. 😂
i read a while back that a chain of theme parks in the new jersey area was operated by a mafia group.

They obviously wanted to make sure your entire experience at the park was a nightmare starting from when you purchase your pass. I agree that roller coaster looks pretty horrifying.

That does suck that they would not do more for your pass. We go to Seaworld alot on the other side of town. Not as big but they have some rides and the animal shows are fun.
I used to frequent that park when it was just Fiesta Texas, as a matter of fact I was there for the opening. I found my visits really great, and the waterpark. I just didnt like the heat or all the walking lol. but overall we loved it. I wonder if they still do the lazer/light show followed by fireworks still(at the end of the night)? I guess now that six flags took over the park has changed a lot a lot a lot. Keep the adventures coming! and travel safe! ~from a fan in NE San Antonio.

No need to get mad because It's in bold print when you purchase those tickets. That's why it's important to read every single thing. We really wanted to go to Six Flags Great Adventure in Jersey but the Black Friday passes/sale were being sold by the Maryland Six Flags. So when we purchased the ones in Maryland it said we had to pick them up in Maryland not at just any six flags. Which is now our home park. It's a weird system yes, but that's how it is. I'm sorry you had that Experience. Six Flags gets such a bad rap but they're fun little parks. Hope you give it another chance and now you know.
With that said we were just there in January when we were visiting family members. Nothing was open, only a few rides. Thanks for the video! Made me miss it!

The Carpetbagger No, you're right. Having been a cast member at Epcot before a lot of guests would get so confused with some of their policies. Hopefully they will change it. Don't ever get their dining plan at Six Flags by the way, standing in line in Jersey made me realize that it's crazy too. If enough people complain it will get changed.

You have to activate and pick up you physical pass at your home park. Says so on website. No need to get frustrated at the park because you didn't read everything.

I really hope you enjoyed my home park, even with the issues you had! I've been turned away as a single rider at the Crow's Nest too, but never asked why. We'd love it if you visited again, I truly believe it's the most beautiful six flags park.

I worked in a small seasonal theme park in college, and it had a kiddie ferris wheel. We were told to "balance" the cages by weight. It was a really terrible plan so eventually I asked the boss for an explanation.
We were told that, if we put too much weight in one cage, the motor would have trouble getting it all the way to the top, and once it did make it, it would fly back down really fast and possibly tip the whole thing over.
One day we didn't have any customers so we stuffed 4 adults into one cage and flipped the switch. We were expecting a really wild ride, but nope. It was totally normal, so that theory might just be bullshit. Our 120 pound weight limit was exceeded by at least 4 times and we all lived to tell the boring tale.

It’s better if you have a home park/know you’re doing multiple and which you’ll get to first so that prevents that issue
This I have to say, is not the parks fault. I purchase a season pass every year. It clearly says when you purchase the season pass, that you need to go into the park to pick up the pass, before the end of the year. Not a great system, but if you read the screens when you purchase it does clearly alert you.
